Goretti had no idea how he was supposed to go out and save the world if he couldn’t even figure out a good superhero routine. He got tired if it got too late (and to be fair was a bit afraid of the monsters in the darkness) but he couldn’t leave too early without making himself too obvious.
Of course, on top of trying to figure out how to work between those two times, he also had to make sure that he was only out when his father wasn't going to notice. His father was going to work later tonight—he had a short while before he had to head back and clean up. Goretti liked to think he was making the best of it, even if all he was doing basically amounted to hopping through the bushes and judo chopping the air.
He would have been content to continue such if he hadn't picked up an aura in the nearby area. He was still learning exactly what an aura was, and how to figure out who it was, but he knew that it felt good.
And if it felt good, that meant it was good! And that meant it was totally fine to check it out!
With little concern for his own safety (beyond sticking to the shadows to avoid any odd looks from any possible visitors to the park) he scampered towards the general direction. He wasn't able t pinpoint entirely where it was coming from, but when it felt like it was right on top of him he looked around and called out a tentative, "Hello? Is anybody out there?"

All of this had been just a bit too strange for Samantha to figure out. First there had been a strange talking cat who told her very strange thing about strange monsters and that she was now something that could fight the monsters and people for that matter...or something but then the cat just ran off! Ran off like some sort of scardy cat…leaving a very confused new sailor Lutetia standing in the middle of the park, looking at her new outfit with complete and utter confusion.
This wasn’t what she had been wearing when she began her trip home from the mall. Not what she had been wearing at all.
The girl reached up, lip beginning to tremble just slightly, touching the strange new…bonnet like thing that was perched on top of her head.
Just what was going on? Why was this happening to her, and what could she really do about it…?
The girl nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard a voice, eyes darting too and fro. This wasn’t what she wanted people to see her in! Not at all!
For a moment, Letutia contemplated just jumping behind a tree, hoping to hide from whoever was there. Hoping to hide until they were gone…and then she did it, running behind the nearest tree and right into someone who was standing there already, falling to the ground with a little yelp of surprise.Kyuseisha no Hikari Thank you for rping with me! blaugh

Goretti's balance was lost as soon as the girl hit him; he fell backwards on his rump with a confused sputter. He blinked, stared at the girl in front of him, and then let out a loud, pleasant laugh. "Ow, sorry, I didn't see you there. Are you okay?" he asked, rolling onto his knees and hastily standing up so he could hold out a hand to her. He seemed eager to get her back on her feet and make sure she was all right; the smile never left his face. "I'm Goretti. You look like you're a senshi, too, right? I haven't met you, I don't know who you are at all."
He probably shouldn't have been so excited to meet a stranger, but she seemed like she was his age and there was absolutely nothing suspicious about her at all. He just wanted to make as many friends as he could as fast as he could—especially since he had no idea how long he was going to spend powered up like this.

It was a boy. Maybe he was her age, or somewhere around there. He sure wasn’t older than her, that much was clear…and he was wearing a very strange outfit. Just like she was…and he had a strange name too. Goretti. What kind of parent named their child Goretti?
Letutia stared at him for a long time before things started working themselves out in her head. What word had he used? Senshi? Hadn’t that cat used that word once…or twice or maybe even three times during her brief lecture at her? The girl shook her head, getting slowly to her feet, brushing off her skirt, still refusing to say anything until things began making sense.
Senshi. Letutia…migration…the cat had mentioned these three things, and only on of them did she really understand. Migration was what birds and butterflies and other things did when they moved from one place to another…
The girl looked back to the…the self appointed Goretti and shrugged. “What’s a senshi? I don’t understand what’s going on? Is this some sort of a joke? What are you doing wearing something as dumb as that? And why am I wearing this dress…this isn’t in style at all. Not even a little bit…” Maybe she shouldn’t have been so snippy to the boy that seemed so friendly, but she was really confused, and rather scared at this whole situation. She had no idea what was going on, none at all. And she didn’t like lacking control.

Goretti once again just blinked at her before his smile reformed. He didn't seem upset at her snippiness, just fascinated by her. "Didn't the cat that woke you up tell you? The one that gave you these funny clothes?" he gestured to himself for reference. "I was with a cat—Julienne? She's real pretty and soft. I was out and found a youma and she told me I was a senshi. They're like superheroes," he said, waving his hand nonchalantly as though he was sooo over the fact.
…Except, he still went home and gushed about how cool it was.
"There are bad things running around Destiny City and we have superpowers to stop them. That's what a senshi is." Or, at least, that was how he understood it. "I pinkie promise it's not a joke—I can do this really neat attack where I make a puddle of really sticky glue. You can probably do something, too! Like, I'm the senshi of glue, so I can do this glue thing. And you're the senshi of…?" he hesitated, as he really had no idea what she was the senshi of, but continued, "So you can probably do something related to whatever you're the senshi of! Did the cat who woke you up tell you anything about that? Like, your name or anything?"

“All the cat said, and I can pretty much quote was…” Letutia made a face and placed her hands on her head, wiggling them like cat ears. “Take this senshi! Take this pen and say Letutia Power! You’re the senshi of Migration! Good bye senshi!” She lowered her hands, rolling her light green eyes in utter disgust. “And seriously that was all the dumb thing said before it ran into the trees, leaving me standing there in this getup, not knowing anything that was going on and honestly, I still wasn’t even over the fact that the dumb thing was talking to me.”
The senshi began chewing on the inside of her cheek—something that only normally happened when she was very agitated indeed. “But then I run into you which kind of blows the whole, ‘I’m having a really dumb dream and I’ll wake up soon maybe.’ Thing out of the water.” She sighed. “Oh well. I suppose I’m the senshi of migration, load of help that is, yeah? At least glue is something. Migration is animals moving from one place to another, or something stupid like that. What, am I going to make puddles of moving animals?”
God this was all just so stupid. And this hat. This hat just felt wrong on her head. And dumb. She really felt dumber than dirt. She was thirteen. Almost fourteen for goodness sakes. She wanted to show more skin than this! This wasn’t the eighteen hundreds!

After hearing the girl recount her interaction with the cat, Goretti made a face. "Well, that's no fair. She shouldn't have just left you standing there like that, not when it's so dangerous! I had a ton of questions when I first started, and the cat answered some. I met this other girl—Lenka? She's nice. She's really strong, too. She answered more of my questions, so even if I am new, I still feel like I kind of get what I'm suppose to know. Practice makes perfect, so that's why I'm out! Do you want to walk around for a bit and talk? I can try to help out. Or, at least, I'll make sure you get home safely!"
He tried to be as reassuring as possible and flashed another smile. Without really waiting for her to answer, he went on, "So far as I know, we're senshi, and that means we have super powers from outer space. So we're stronger than normal people. So we gotta use that power to protect everyone. Especially people you care about, who you can't even tell that you're a senshi. Or it might put them in danger. I feel bad about keeping it a secret. I want to tell my dad, but since I can't I just want to make friends with lots of senshi so I always have someone to talk to. I hope we can be friends!"

Letutia watched him, sighing soon after he finished talking. So not only had the cat been absolutely no help…but she had completely gypped her of answers that should have been provided. This was a big old pile of crap, that was for darn sure.
When the offer to walk around was given, the senshi shrugged. “I guess so. Seems okay to me I suppose. I could use someone to talk to…” To be honest, she didn’t believe for a single moment that there was anything magical about herself right now. She didn’t feel magical. Unless she was magically stupid or something like that. “What do you mean you can’t tell anyone? Not that I would want to tell anyone that I’ve been dressed in something like this without any good reason. I mean.” She glanced around, slightly paranoid that one of her friends would come up and see her looking like this.
“I wouldn’t want anyone to know. But does that mean I can’t ever let them see me like this, because it would be pretty easy for them to find out if they saw me. Shouldn’t I have a mask or a something to protect my identity? I think that would be pretty darn helpful in keeping it, you know, a secret?”
Bonnets didn’t protect who you were. Unless she wore it completely over her face. Maybe she could cut a few holes in it to see out of.

"Oh—no, no!" Goretti hastily waggled his hands in the air. "No, it's not like that at all. They can't tell it's you. It's like you're wearing a mask, except you don't actually have to be wearing a mask. It's like an invisible mask!"
…At least, if he understood that right. He still wasn't sure his father wouldn't recognize him, but he was hoping there wouldn't ever be a time when he had to be powered up around his father. "It's kinda complicated and weird," he admitted after a few seconds. "But if it makes you feel any better, it's like playing dress up, except with some really neat perks? And you get to fight bad guys. I don't know if that's as cool to girls as it is to boys, but I know that I think it's cool. Well. Maybe not the fighting part, but I sure do like the idea of being the one to save the day! And I like knowing that I can always protect the people I love. I guess I'm kinda glad I haven't run into any real bad guys, but I am going to train to get stronger so that when I do I can get home safely—and make sure everyone else does, too. You're really special, you know? So far as I can tell it's not like everyone gets to be a protector of the world. We should get ice cream or something some time to celebrate!"

An invisible mask? Lutetia felt her face for a moment, tyring to see if she could feel where this invisible mask was, though soon abandoned the task, letting her hands fall to her sides. “I guess so…” She didn’t really have much interest in fighting bad guys, but…okay. What was the point? “Are their really bad guys out here? I mean…that’s only in stories, right? There’s no such thing as real bad guys. Unless you mean we go out and hunt down robbers or something. Or maybe the terrorists that run around the city.”
She enjoyed watching the news in the morning, and they almost always talked about the terrorists who ran around the city causing damage. Was that who they were fighting?
”This is all very confusing…but I would like to get ice cream…but do I have to go looking like this? They’ll think we’re dumb kids who are a few months too early for Halloween…I don’t want to get a bad reputation in the city…I’m supposed to start High School this fall…I can’t…” The senshi sighed, shaking her head. “I have to be cool. Invisible mask or not…this is not cool.”

"Uhm…I'm not…" Goretti hesitantly shrugged. "I'm probably not the best person to be explaining all of this. I mean, I think it's kinda cool. To be able to go out and stop people from doing bad things. I don't really wanna fight at all—I haven't met any bad guys, just the youma things. But…"
He rocked on his heels and tilted his head. "Starting high school is really neat! You're definitely older than me. If you wanna power down and go get ice cream, I'd really like that! I mean, as long as you wouldn't mind hanging out with a younger kid or anything. But we don't have to go now while we're still dressed like this! It's all just to make sure nobody figures out your true identity and tries to use it against you. At least, I think."
Using superhero and comic logic, that was what it was supposed to do, at least.
"I guess it's pretty good that neither of us have seen or run into a real bad guy. I'm kinda scared for when I first do. It's why I want to go out when I have a partner, so that I can watch their back and they can watch mine. It just seems like the smartest thing to do—especially when the bad guys have monsters."
He blinked, quickly looking back at the girl. "Not that I'm trying to scare you or anything. There's a lot of fun to have like this, too! Like you can run really fast, or jump really high. I wish I could stay powered up while I played soccer—I'd be unbeatable!"

She nodded slowly. “Okay…so how exactly do I power down?” Lutetia didn’t really want to talk any more about fanciful bad guys or youma things. Whatever that even meant. She did want ice cream…who didn’t want ice cream when they were going through a crisis like this? It was the number one super comfort food…especially when it involved chocolate chips or sprinkles.
Lutetia gave the smallest of frowns when the younger boy mentioned monsters, but really decided to ignore that fact. She didn’t want to think of, or entertain the thought that monsters might be real…because that was one of the stupidest things that she had ever heard. So. Forget it and leave it behind.
“I don’t mind younger kids when they act at least a little cool. You play soccer? I suppose that counts as something cool. Plus you’ve been pretty helpful to me…so I’ll hang out with you again…and I’ll get ice cream with you. So.” She trailed off, then gave a half hearted shrug.
“Please tell me how to go back to my normal self and we can get ice cream. I’m ready to get home.”

Goretti nodded quickly and sucked in a breath, trying to calm himself for the demonstration. "Okay!" he said, trying to sound as serious and scholarly as possible. "To get back to you, you just have to relax, and think about not being a senshi. Focus on whatever you were wearing before, or whatever you were doing—think of your face! And then," he released a breath, slowly, then inhaled—and powered back down right in front of her.
He could tell that he had powered down almost immediately; once he no longer felt the girl's aura from right in front of him, he opened his eyes and grinned. "Ta-da! And I guess you can't call me Goretti while I'm like this—it would ruin my secret identity! But you can call me Orin! And powering down is as simple as that! Oh!" he quickly spun so his back was to her. "But I don't want to make anything awkward, so I can stay like this until you finish!"

Lutetia shook her head, unable to believe that the boy who was just…covered in glue colors was now looking as normal as ever, and how had it even happened? She was going to say something, ask something until he turned around. Finally she simply shrugged and closed her eyes, imagining her own clothes back on her body, imagining looking like the thirteen year old girl that she was, part of the twenty first century and not part of the nineteenth.
She opened an eye after a moment, feeling some sort of change overcome her, and…well. Thos were indeed jeans on her legs instead of frilly socks. “I think I did it um. Orin, right? I think I got back to the real me. My name’s Samantha, by the way. But you can call me Sam if you want. I like being called Sam. That’s what most of my friends call me. So I guess you and I are friends now. Thanks for explaining everything. I’m really ready for ice cream now.” Now that she didn’t look like a bozo. But she was also more than ready to just put an end to the night. She could figure the senshi thing out some other time. Maybe.

"Oh, you're done?" he asked, turning. He looked delighted to see that the girl had powered down. "Awesome! It's nice to meet you, Sam! Uhm, I don't really have a nickname, just to clarify. I mean, I guess you could call me 'O', or 'Or', but those are pretty common words. Or maybe 'Rin' if you really wanted to? But I like Orin. He wasn't shy; he reached out and took Sam's hand, tugging her gently in the direction he assumed the ice cream parlor would be in. There were enough girls on his soccer team that they didn't totally gross him out, and he was in a good between stage when it came to dealing with members of the opposite gender. He was old enough not to believe in cooties, but not old enough to feel the need to impress a girl, though that didn't stop him form being as gentlemanly as possible. "Since you already had a rough enough day, I can buy you some ice cream!"
He was still going to look at this as a celebration, even if she wasn't sure about it all. Plus, he wanted her to not be worried about being a senshi! So far he was enjoying it—and he didn't want to risk losing a chibi ally. He already felt like he was a bit of the odd one out, and when you were afraid to go out and patrol by yourself, having a friend your age sounded like a miracle.
