Waking up came in fits. She didn't see wonderland anymore, Only her and Leroy and his constant nagging.
She would wake to someone talking once in awhile. The scent of hospital, clean and almost cloraxy and gross.
It wasn't till two weeks from the day she had been brought in that her eyes opened and stayed open. She tried to push herself on the bed but it didn't do anything.
Instead she tried to wonder why she could only see half of her side. Memories rushed back. Haunting images, wonderland, voices and the pain.
"St...Stormy?" The one voice...the one voice she needed.

Stormy hadn't actually meant to stay over in the infirmary--none of her visits went over several hours at most if she was reading or playing a movie. But the past few days had been weirdly tiring--well no, not weirdly as she knew the cause, but odd in how much they did drain her, yes. She had accidentally sleptover the night in her chair, lolled off to the side with a slightly agape mouth as she slept a dreamless sleep.
She woke stiff and recollected Gale's warning about sleeping upright. Oh Godddddd owwwwww . . . Groaning softly, she rubbed at her neck with a wince as she roused herself, about ready to mumble something close to good morning to Nevada, when her bestie spoke first.
Well, this was probably a dream wasn't it. It wasn't the first time Stormy had been visited as such.
But she was a lucid dreamer, and this did not have the distinctly fuzzy feeling of her dreamworld; she lightly tapped herself to be sure. Maybe an auditory hallucination upon waking up? That was possible. There was something, however, that added more evidence:
The heart rate monitor was beeping more.
After so many days of hearing it at such a constant level, it was easy for her to notice the change in tempo.
Stormy blinked awake, and turned her head to her friend, hesitant hope in her voice. "I do try to think of at least six impossible things before breakfast . . . Did you beat me to it?"

Was it a miracle? A blessing? She didn't know as she closed her eye again.
"1. Otto was a rabbit. To be more excact hare."
She chuckled,
"2. Candy grows from the ground"
"3. I'd lose an eye."
"4. I'd keep my arm..."
The chuckling turning into a soft sob,
"5. I'd make it home.........."
"6. I'm alive......."
"Am I alive Stormy?"

She wasn't sure what caused the tears first: that Nevada was actually physically speaking to her, or that she was actually listing things off. A soft note left Stormy as she eased out of her chair, feeling pain but ignoring it for this wonderful, most wonderful of events. "Candy and ice cream trees," she added automatically, her mouth wavering between a smile and simply crying, paralleling her emotions.
She hovered at Nevada's side, afraid to give in to her impulse to crush the girl into a hug. Stormy could, however, reach out to touch her arm--maybe that wasn't too much. "Alive a-and awake, Sleeping Beauty. If this was a dream, I would've loved to see your Wonderland, though."

"Ah Stormy please don't cry." Nevada's own tears started to shimmer, "You'll make me cry okay. Don't do that Pet." She rasped as she felt the arm touch, She wanted to return it but since it was on her right. Her other hand came over, covering Stormy's.
"No Ice cream tree's. Otto was the hare.." She repeated, "Tuck was the mad hatter, Candace was the cheshire cat. She was a gorgeous Cheshire cat. With purple ears and tail."
She closed her eyes.
"And there was a tea party and..." She closed her eyes, letting the tears flow into the pillow.
"It was a creature. It possessed me. She attacked me with my own body.." She breathed out.
"And you were a jack of hearts. Like one the cards! And you were in a rose garden. What did they tell you about my eye Stormy?"

"None? Shame . . ." Her smile turned apologetic as well as watery, the tears defiantly falling one by one. She sucked in a shaky breath and scooted closer, turning her hand so that their fingers could lace. Really, it was inappropriate when listening to a story, but she couldn't help it . . .
Stormy chuckled softly as Nevada listed people off, pleasantly surprised at her imagination; not everything could be snuffed out if in a coma, she knew it! "Ms. Candace would be, natch," she commented, keeping her voice soft. "She's a princess after all; all cats are royal." She was touched that she too had a role in the story, let alone be the Jack of Hearts! "I was probably a naughty knave, wasn't I . . ."
Otto . . . Otto was that kid from the ship mission, wasn't he? Gale knew him too . . . And Tuck would've been a bad a** hatter, she was sure. Her smile fell a bit when she mentioned the creature possessing her, on the inside feeling a stab of cold suspicion turn into solid justification. Something like what had possessed her had attacked Nevada, as she had suspected. She wouldn't be surprised if it was the same entity.
"Shhh . . ." Stormy squeezed her hand gently, sniffling. "One thing at a time, bestie. You just woke up. Are you hungry? Thirsty?" Stalling.

Ah, She squeezed her friends hand tighter, holding on to that. That feeling of being alive and grounded. She was here with Stormy. Not in the haunted house and not stuck in the wonderland of her mind.
"Yeah, she was nice. I guess my mind already knew that I was dreaming but..." Nevada opened her eye and looked over to Stormy now, "You'd've liked it. It was straight out of a disney movie or something. And not really! You seemed really playful and cheery. You were in the rose garden..." She tried to look to her left, but the farther she looked....the less she saw.
Her heart started beating faster, her breathing quickening. No no no. She couldn't see. Why couldn't she see farther than that.
"I can't see out of my left eye Stormy, It's black. I can't even look to the left...." Her words camed out rushed and hitched a breath, "What am I going to do? I can't fight like this. I can't fight blind....They won't let me be a mist anymore...they won't even let me be a hunter...." Nevada was going straight into panic as the thoughts hit her. She'd be killed off, a hunter who couldn't see was no good as a hunter at all.
They'd end her in a heartbeat.
She'd never see her family, or the friends again. She wouldn't get to apologize to Tuck or Roland. She'd disappear.
/Pidge, Nevada. Calm down ghoul. Calm down. They won't kill you..../

She smiled warmly, for what good thing didn't feel straight out of a Disney movie? "I wish I could've seen it...Maybe you won't mind drawing sometime?" she suggested, looking to stall more. But the more Nevada roused herself, the more likely she would notice...And then she did.
Her throat tightened and made it hard to swallow, the squeeze against her voicebox moving up and up until it squeezed another tear out of her. Stormy didn't despair for the same reasons Nevada did, but more because no-one should wake from one lengthy dream only to tip into a real live nightmare. Every word spilling out of her best friend's mouth was another needle stuck in her already bleeding heart, until she was sure she was losing color; the rapid beating on the heart monitor only heightened her instinctive reaction to tears, made Stormy nervous and alert to noises--such as Nevada's non-verbal cues to stress.
She squeezed her hand. "Nevada, they won't. They won't, dear, it'll be okay," Stormy said calmly, even as she felt a light sweat on her forehead breakout at the thought of losing--"I know someone, Patches, she has one eye and she's a hunter still. And our division assistant's in a wheelchair, remember? It's gonna be okay, I promise..." Her brows knitted a bit as she scooted closer, never letting go of Nevada's hand. "Deep breaths, okay? You survived. Focus on that."

"I can't. Oh god...." Tears kept coming more, and the harder she strained to look...the more her head started to ache and her eye that could see started to hurt. Panic bubbled over into despair into...herself.
Stormy's voice broke into her wall of despair briefly, reminding her that there had been hunters with worse injuries and still had been allowed to live. She thought Lance special, he had more to offer than her. And the Patches? Whoever she was accustomed to her eye wasn't she?
Nevada had both till she went in the haunted house...and it was ripped away.
She inhaled....then exhaled loudly. Focus on something else. Focus. Oh god she was going to be blind wasn't she. When one eye lost vision and the other was making up for it, it was common for the other to go blind as well....
No wrong to focus on. She swallowed, trying to push herself up to finish assessing her damages.
"Do I still...." She frowned, "Do I still look....normalish? God that sounds vain but..." She looked over to Stormy, the only visual of scarring around her eye was three nubs of scar under the bandage. No more longer then her index finger and would hide well with bandage and makeup. But she asked anyways...hey something else to focus on right? "Like you'd date me still right Stormy?" She attempted at a joke, the tears had become a more slower, loose roll down her cheek.

Deep breaths. Stop crying, she told herself--crying didn't help anyone here. So with a deep breath and a sniffle, Stormy wiped at her face, her fingers still trembling just a bit as they found Nevada's again. "You look like a badass now," she told her with a tiny nod, her other hand pressed lightly to the Mist's back to help her sit up. "I'd date you in a heartbeat: but I'm also a sucker for battle scars~"
A smile appeared, tremulous but there. "It's okay to cry, though. Here." Stormy looked around for tissue, but it seemed they were nowhere to be found. So she scooted forward a little more and leaned over to try and envelope her bestie in a hug instead.

"Badass." She gave a watery chuckle, tucking her head in her shoulder to wipe where it got wet. "Thank you but I also think you are bias." She eased up with Stormy, the panic subsiding now into the back of her mind. She needed to breathe. She'd figure out how to work her eye.
She'd figure it out with time.
Her arm came up around Stormy and squeezed her as tight as she could manage. "Ah I am so thankful I woke up to you. I'd be a hysterical mess without you Stormy." She sniffed again.
"Do you think...do you think I could have some water?"

"I am totally biased, thank you~" she answered unabashedly, her smile getting stronger. See, no more crying! "But I do what I can. Here." She bounced away to fill a cup from the water dispenser not too far away, returning in seconds because like hell she'd stray far from the bestie now--Nevada better not have second thoughts about taking a nap.
"Out of curiosity, did you hear anything out here in your dreams?" Stormy asked as she offered the cup. "I always wondered if things translated from here to there." And how much Nevada had heard her rant.

"That's fine with me Pet, I wouldn't want it any other way." She reached for the glass when it was offered and missed it. A frown played on her features, "Sorry I'll just..." She reached again, almost knocking it out of Stormy's hand and giving a very loud sound of frustration. "I can't even grab a glass of water." Despair hit again.
Giving up on it, and wallowing in her eye troubles, she looked up at Stormy and then off to the side.
"I thought I did. I heard Otto call me Stupid....and Tuck said we needed to talk. And I could hear Candace sometimes, was she here? I heard you tell me about Gale things. You guys are still good right?" She looked around, expecting to see the small hunter with Stormy. But thankful he wasn't at the same time.
At the moment the only person she trusted herself with was Stormy.
"Leroy was walking me through wonderland. It only felt like a couple of hours in that world....but I guess it came to two weeks." She sighed, "Was I suppose to hear something?"

She kept the cup steady despite the fumbles, kicking herself for not just putting it in Nevada's hand directly. It hadn't quite hit her what it would mean for her best friend to have spacial issues. "They probably visited, yeah," Stormy said with a little nod. "I know I saw Ms. Candace for sure, and it wouldn't surprise me if Tuck had . . . Otto's your friend?" She only knew a little about the guy, the little being he seemed a bit like a sour puss. And that he had also, for a little while, been pirate queen.
"Gale and I are fine, yeah. He's just away on a mission." A mission that was taking a little too long for her liking, much as she tried to hide it. But it was easy to forget her simple trouble in lieu of Nevada's and, grasping her Mist sister's hand, she slid the cup into her grasp for her. "One step at a time. You didn't have to hear anything specific . . . I'm just glad you could hear at all," Stormy added with a content look. "Sorry if you got bored of either movie you got me, though; we kinda watched them a lot."
What a funny feeling it must be to wake up from a nap and find out so much time had gone by? It was like the pods all over again . . .
"Uh . . . Oh, I brought Roland over once if you managed to hear any of that," she added as mildly as she could.

"Yeah, Otto and are probably as good as friends as-" She thought about it, "Well not as good as us but pretty close. He was the first person I liked on the Island, before Roland and Tuck. And we hit if off pretty fast." She smiled despite the pain of her body. Memories, such funny things. "He's really sweet under all that grumpiness. And cute." She blew out, moving strands of her bangs. "But it wasn't meant to be and he had a girl already that he liked. So we're just really good friends." She started to test her turning with her head, looking to the left of the room. There was gifts there, and a box of half eaten chocolates that Otto had left but had been eating while he visited.
She didn't know that, but something processed that Otto left some there for her.
There was also Stormy's set up, the blankets and DVD's and everything. God. Her best friend was really the best. "Stormy, how often did you stay the night here?" She moved her vision back to the huntress, "did you get a proper night's rest at least?" There was some nevada mother tone in there as she raised an eyebrow at the girl. "Terrible timing for a mission too." She commented.
The mention of Roland stiffened her body, before relaxing. The cup, thanks to Stormy was grasped in her hand now as she brought it up to her mouth slowly. Thankfully, she didn't embarrass herself with drinking it, and managed to keep it down to a steady small tremble.
"Funny, Roland was the prince of hearts in Wonderland. A new character in the story." She set the cup on her blanketed thighs, "But I let him go in the dream. How come he was here?" She asked more out of curiosity. roland and her weren't really on the best of terms, and barely mending their relationship. So why would he visit?
