Picking up some sand with his front right claw,Tsalar stared down at it.It was warm,he wondered why the sand collected heat when the grass was always cold.Maybe he was just thinking stupidly, but it was a question he always wondered.Giving a long sigh and a wiggle to his tail feathers,he lifted his head to look at the sky. The sun was at its highest peak,he was hoping the sunset would come ever quicker.

The sunset was the only thing he realized made him feel a bit good inside.Even though it did,he hated it.Tsalar hated feeling like a good guy instead of a bad guy, that's what his parents were.Nasty and heartless, they always had bad tempers.

Tsalar wondered if one day he would turn out to be like his father but also had the mind of his mother.Heartless and irresponsible, that's what they were.Maybe it would catch up to him when he found this thing everyone always talked about called love.He never thought about it and he didn't want to. It all seemed too ugly for him.

Then again everything in the world was ugly to him,it was just a natural reaction when he seen the things he's seen. Giving a toss to his braid,Tsalar tried to fix himself up.He didn't understand why he was so worried about his appearance. It was probably because he always got the worst reactions.Never did he think that he was one spot of beauty.

----

Of all the many wondrous places her wings had taken her Brin honestly could not remember ever setting hoof in the desert. She had been in the mountains, on the beach, at the hot-springs. She had even visited the jungles that her fathers clan of trolls came from - but never the desert. And she understood now why. For hours she had flying, using the hot air currents to effortlessly glide her through the land, and for hours she had not seen a living soul. Sand and rock, rock and sand. Oh! A little tree! And more sand...... She was quite disappointed in her findings thus far. She was about to give up on her exploration, about to assume that the desert was little more than a barren wasteland, when the silhouette of a figure below caught the attention of the red eyes of her wings. Almost instantly she folded them to her sides and dove for the figure, flaring her wings in just the right amount of time to glide over the male and land a few paces away. The thrill of the fall was one of her greatest pleasures, and though her entrance often perturbed most she interacted with the delight was just too much to pass up. She ruffled her wings, freeing them from the sand that had been disrupted with her landing, and folded them to her sides. She turned to gander at the figure before her; ah yes, it had been a male. Offering a friendly wave 'hello' with her bladed tale and a toothy grin she greeted the male. "Good Evening." She stated with a nod. She wasn't one to usually approach another first, but the lack of life all day had left her in a rather strong mood to socialize.

----

Looking out of the corner of his eye, this huge blob with wings landed near him. He was so caught off guard that he pinned his ears and lowered his tail. He wasn't sure how to react to this mare or whatever she was.

When the mare spoke,Tsalar felt a tiny bit better about her coming along."Evening."He said softly with almost worry burried into his voice. He was unsure how this mare would be around him.She seemed harmless, unlike himself he looked like he would come after you in a second and tear you to shreds.

Looking at the mares body, she had some weird trinkets to herself like his own.The eyes in her wings, the spikes on her tail and horns sticking out of her head.Tsalar thought he looked a bit weird, but she was extremely weird but in an interesting way.

Tsalar moved some of the sand around with his talons again and thought about some water."Do you know where water is?" He didn't like the thought of asking, but he knew if he didn't he probably wouldn't find it.

----

Brin took the opportunity, as the male seemed to look her over, to look him over as well. To be honest Brin had herd of a group of soquili possessing talons and feet of a bird rather than hooves, but she had never happened across one before. She found it to be quite interesting indeed, and despite many of the other odd physical characteristics that he possessed it was only his feet that held her attention. One would probably be fairly daunted by the kalona like ram horns that he possessed, or the spikes that seemed to protrude fro his jaw... But Brin had met many daunting characters that had only been victims of genetics (and many that actually were quite fierce). One may find the growth of feathers somewhere other than on one's wings to be odd and strange..... But Zul'Aloani, Brin's adoptive father, had them growing from his body as well. Perhaps this stallion was related to the trolls too? She would have to ask at some point. Everything about the stallion, to her, seemed perfectly normal, except for his feet. She stepped closer to the stallion after looking him over - She was a tad bit confused by the tone as he had greeted her. Did he too find her to be a monster? She had been met with this reaction enough times for it to no longer affect her negatively as it had once done, but she had assumed that with his own appearance it would not be an issue. Or perhaps it was simply caution and she was over thinking things yet again. Either way, she would not know unless he spoke of it. She watched in amazement as he shifted the sand with his talons, mesmerized by it until he spoke. She furrowed her brow as she thought on the matter. "To be honest... I have not." She said apologetically as she looked about. "But on a positive note, we now no not to look in the direction that I came." She paused for a moment more, contemplating circumstances. "I could help search if you would like."

----

Tsalar was used to being looked at like he was a monster, that was everyones reaction when they seen him around. He knew there was a herd with talons,he heard they had a semi bad reputation.Wasn't too fond of the breeding aspect of it.Others might've been but he surely wasn't.

He wasn't even sure he wanted to breed to have babies eventually.Didn't think he was too fit to fill the shoes of a father.Tsalar was too depressing and had a hidden anger that he did and didn't want to let free. Was almost scared to let it out,who knows if he could ever go back to that relaxed semi anti-social Tsalar he was now.

"I see, that's no biggie."He looked around and sighed softly. "There wasn't any water where I was coming from either...."They were pretty screwed and Tsalar was parched. His throat was raspy and extremely dry."We may need to find some soon."

Turning to look around them he glanced over towards her."Do...you get weird looks too?"He noticed how she was looking at his talons and was curious if she got the same thing.Since she was weird looking herself,he thought he might as well ask.

----

Brin's ears pinned back at the male's sigh, she had not wanted to upset the male or dishearten him, but it had been the only answer that she could give honestly. It was better, she suspected, to disappoint now than to raise false hopes that could, quite possibly, lead to his demise. But still... She felt a little bad about the predicament. "Well, then that makes two directions that we can eliminate from the search, an two left to go. One is bound to have water eventually, and as a last resort one can always fly back to the mountains." She added, nodding to the males wings as she did so. She assumed that any soquili with wings knew how to fly, and though she had personally met some that didnt it was never an automatic assumption that one with wings could not. She did agree though about the necessity to find some drinking water soon. Dehydration would lead to many an unpleasant demises if not attended to. With a nod at his statement of water she turned and was about to take flight once more, this time in search of the drink that was needed, but his question halted her instantly. Slowly, almost in a confused like manner, she turned to face the male once more. She tilted her head slightly, a single brow raised. Despite the frequency of the reactions from others she had never once been asked as to whether or not she received them. She had simply assumed everyone knew she did. Needless to say it had been a shock to her. Once over her initial shock she cleared her throat to reply. "Well.... yes; all of the time. I've gotten use to it over time though. I assume others are just curious about what they don't understand." She smiled softly. "Why?"

----

Tsalar wasn't upset at the mare,he was just upset with himself for coming to such a hot and dry place. What the hell was he thinking?"You're right."He nodded and looked both ways they haven't gone yet."Which way?" He asked softly and kicked the sand around some more.

The mountains sounded like a nice quiet place to stay, though it did get quite cold up there. But what was he worried about? The stallion had a feathered tail and wings,he shouldn't be so cold with the two of them. Then again it also depended on how cold it got up on the mountains,he wanted to find that out sooner or later.

"I get it all the time, the looks that make me look hideous and like a monster."He said and fluffed his wings and wiggled his tail.Maybe that was one of the reasons his out look on life was always on the ugly and horrible side.Nothing was pretty or gorgeous to him,It was always ugly this or its hideous that. The poor stallion couldn't get over the fact that everything was just ugly in his eyes. He often wondered if something coming along in the future would change his mind on the world.

----

For several moments Brin was silent and still. She was contemplating things, remembering past situations, and all around trying to gather her thoughts. Finally, with a sigh, she shrugged. "If you think about it we are, in a way, monsters." She stated softly. "But it isnt a bad thing. I use to think it was, and it really hurt my feelings every time someone gawked or was frightened or skittish around me." She took a few steps closer and plopped her butt to the ground to sit. "But if you've been around as long as I have you have quite a long time to evaluate these things. They are just cautious of what they do not know. And frankly..." She added with a nod and a grin. "An ounce of precaution is worth a pound of cure. There are many in this world with similar characteristics such as ours that are not the most pleasant of soquili - and they will attack someone in a heartbeat. Story's get spread, and they become fearful. But... " Brin shrugged a bit and looked to the ground, curling her tail around her and using the tip of her tail to swirl the sand at her hooves. "How will they ever come to appriece the values of our characteristics unless they realize just how much of a boon they can be? I try to explain and show that I am not a 'monster'; and usually in no time at all I am treated just like I was 'normal'."

----

Tsalar nodded slowly, honestly she was right. He hadn't thought about it that way. They both were indeed monsters.Horns sticking out of their heads and cheeks, then weird tail feathers and long spikey tails. They were two interesting monsters indeed.

"Honestly,I probably would've give myself the light of day either. I don't really think I'm all great looking anyways. Then again I don't think anything is beautiful."He sighed along with her.It seemed they were both in the same boat.Ever since he entered this land from day one after his birth, everyone gave him the weirdest looks.Ones that just struck him hard and then others that he really didn't care for.

"Only if I could ever explain it like you do.Its hard for me to.I don't really...like talking much to others..."Something about the mare brought him out of his shell a little bit so he could actually have a decent conversation.
