Guinevere trotted through the meadow, enjoying the way the summer breeze swept her hair and made the veil on her hennin wave behind her like some kind of flag; a bold declaration of her noble heritage. She had not been out on her own very long, so even though she was several seasons into marehood she was rather naive and sheltered. It just wasn't normal, you see, for princesses such as herself to be seen out and out alone, without an escort. But the young mare needed to make some new friends; she has sequestered herself for far too long. Perhaps some new adventure lay out ahead of her on this grand summer day.
Despite the fact that she stood barely over the line of grass, she kept her eyes peeled for someone who might help her in some way.

Walt himself was not far away, standing in the open field and gazing around without much thought or purpose. He was a bit tired today and had taken it upon himself to get some rest. The summer heat was quite unbearable as of late and he had finally managed to get his braid washed, combed, and re-done. Travelling to hither and yon would only make an awful mess. As much as the idea caused him pain, perhaps he was going to have to get a haircut of some sort. Nope. Not going to happen. He had never had a hair cut from his head and it was going to stay that way. Gazing around the field, a bright flash of pink caught his eyes and Walt couldn’t help but stick his chest out and stand up a bit straighter. Pink was typically a color used by ladies—and ladies usually meant… A chance at true-love. One should never give up a chance for that.

Guinevere, as daintily as one can whilst eating them without utensils (or hands for that matter), was snacking on a fine batch of wild strawberries when someone caught her eye. A blue creature, strange; yet somehow alluring. She was curious at once and trotted over to him, the grass parting as she zig-zagged over. As she got closer, Guin noticed he seemed to be the host to some remarkable hair! Long, blonde, in a braid that seemed to nearly go on forever.
She came in front of him and stood there with a smile, and even graced him with a small nod; and waited for him to pay his proper respects to the Princess.

Walt almost grinned when he saw the mare coming over towards him. She had been munching on something too far away to be seen clearly. Once close enough the slight scent of strawberries reached his nose and he took a moment to look her over. She had on a princess’ cap and veil to boot. Perhaps he had met some branch of royalty from here? Going into routine for himself, Walt dipped into as low of a bow as he dared before straightening only so much as to be eye level with the mare. “G’day fair maiden. My eyes are relieved to have the chance to rest upon such a fair picture. A princess at that, surely I must be fantasizing?”

Guinevere's pulse quickened - what a gentleman! He knew how to treat royalty! Most of the other Soquili in this land just treated her with indifference, or like a child. If they even saw her at all!
"You are not!" she said, giving him a nod to indicate he could break his bow and be "at ease." "I am indeed a princess."
So she thought. She really wasn't, of course, having no true understanding of what a Princess was or what it meant to be one. She had no land, and no royal blood - her mother had just raised her as a 'princess.' To Guinevere, being a Princess was a state of mind, not a title.

Walt grinned, enjoying the lovely petite mare completely. He locked his legs, keeping the bowed stance so as to stay on the same level as the lady. It wouldn’t do at all to tower over her like a hulk. “I am honored, truly honored, to meet a fair princess in these lands. I have been quite ill at ease… The commoners here… they lack so much in manners.” Walt had been pampered and pandered to, his own ‘royalty’ in these lands meant nothing, not that he realized that – yet. “I hope I did not offend your gentle nature by speaking so frankly. It can be so tiring to be around those that do not possess the obvious charm you have mastered so thoroughly. Of course you MUST call me Prince. I would be mortally wounded if I wasn’t in your favor.”

Guinevere's eyes grew larger and larger as he spoke, finding herself unable to completely keep her composure as her excitement grew. It was if the great spirits had lifted a vision from her dreams and delivered him, full flesh and formed, right here in front of her! "Oh, my..." she breathed, "Are you really a Prince?" Her aire wavered a bit at the adoration, being replaced by a childlike wonderment.

Walt knew it was not particularly gentlemanly to swell with pride, but swell he did. This petite princess was just about to swoon at the sight of his royal…ness. “Of course I am fair maiden, I can do none other than tell thee the truth.” Perhaps he was laying the manners on a bit thick, but it felt good to be comfortable. “I come from a far far land, I’m seeking my one true love and perhaps once I have found her I’ll be able to woo her and convince her she’ll want to return home with me – to help me rule my lands.”

Guinevere felt her knees weaken as he spoke - this was, quite literally, her dream come true. A prince - a mysterious Prince from a far-off land - coming here, to the dreadfully mundane Kawani lands to look for his one true love. She nearly swooned herself into unconsciousness; it took every fiber of her being to not just fling herself around his paws and beg, whine, cry like a petulant child; imploring him to pick her and to take her away.
"That sounds.... so romantic," she crooned. "Tell me about your kingdom? Is it just wonderful?"

Walt stood and watched as he was given his due. This lady was truly a lady. She understood that he was a prince. A prince that deserved to be treated as royalty. She was quite lovely in behavior and countenance. He couldn’t help but let himself preen for a little bit longer. “My kingdom? It was a fabulous place, full of fancily dressed servants that enjoyed waiting upon the royal family and just… ahh… Oh! And of course the ladies of the court were taken care of. How could my family do otherwise?” Grinning down at the tiny fair maiden and bowing again, “You appear to be of royal blood yourself… So ladylike are you.”

"Ladies of the court?" She listened, intrigued. Her knowledge of Princes and Princesses was honestly very shallow and rudimentary at best. They stuff everyone knows from stories and such, of course, but honestly she knew little of the reality of it all. "Everything just sounds so grand, I wish I could see it," she said, still looking up at him with a very real, earnest enthusiasm.
She nearly swooned when he called her a lady. "Oh, thank you so much, Your Highness," she said. "I'm so happy you noticed." She sidestepped the question about her bloodline, however, as she was far from pedigreed. "I've always considered myself so blessed to be a Princess."

Walt was nearly preening as the lovely lady looked at him with such adoration and interest. At least in his own mind it was adoration. Who wouldn’t adore him? “I wish I could take you to the court. You’d enjoy the dancing and feasting… oh the grandeur of it all.” Hell, he really wished he was back with the servants and the pandering to his every slight whim or whimsy. “Please, dearest lady, I would be most honored if you would call me Walt. Such formality can be put to the side when it’s a gentleman speaking to a lady such as yourself.” Yes, she was a lovely princess… Perhaps her castle and kingdom would provide some sort of sanctuary, “I would love to see your castle and court.”

Guinevere felt the soft skin on her muzzle and the pinks of her ears burn with a blush. "Oh, perhaps your right. No need to be quite so formal indeed. I can call you Walt. Or perhaps, at least, Prince Walt. That has a nice ring to it, don't you think?" she asked with a chime-like giggle in her voice and a bat of the eyelashes.
She pawed at the grass a bit when he asked about her castle and court. She didn't have either of those, of course. She thought that would be obvious; her mother had always told her that it was up to the Prince to supply this for her Princess. "Oh, well, being un-mated and all, I don;t have any of those things... yet," she said, with another blush and shy giggle. "Why have you traveled from your kingdom? Oh, are you on some kind of a quest?!"

Walt dipped into a low bow once again, enjoying the ability to be formal and treat a lady as one should be treated and grinned at the favor that was bestowed upon him. “You may refer to me as Walt if your heart so desires, fair lady.” His own chuckle rumbled out, deep and sure – not that he had spent time on his own practicing to make sure it was correct or anything….
Oh no! Her kingdom was the sort to leave their ladies without a penny to their own… not even so much as a servant to tend to her he was willing to bet and that sobered him up from his chuckling. “How unkind a kingdom! You see, I’m out here on my own because the ladies of my home are the ones that have the castle and property… It is my duty to find my one true love and to settle with that princess in a Happily-Ever-After.”
