Haley Jones Neither Haley nor Ricky were completely comfortable when they received the messages about being invited out to some strange mansion for a weekend. It seemed like some kind of trap to the both of them, even to Ricky's simple little mind, and even though the invitation was received through a safe mode of contact. But - as Haley concluded - if it were a trap, then at least they'd be walking into it prepared. There was still so much Haley wanted to learn about the Negaverse's recent attacks against the public - and if it meant putting herself in the line of danger to do so, then so be it. She had no idea what to expect, really. Against all intelligent judgment, which between Haley and Ricky there was very little of, they arrived in their civilian forms expecting the worst. It didn't even occur to Haley what was wrong with that plan - the possible compromising of her identity to a potential enemy - until she arrived to the room she was to share with two girls, Fiona Watson and Evalia Catling. She tossed her nearly empty hemp shoulder bag - only a change of clothes with a pipe and some pot inside - onto the bed and laid down. "Do any of you have any idea what's going on?" she asked to the other two girls as they arrived. Ricky Cunningham Ricky was slightly more comfortable with the plan than Haley - although his obliviousness played a factor into that. As far as he was concerned, it was a nice invitation that may or may not be evil, but even if it was, they were offering a weekend's stay at a bed and breakfast. How evil could that be? He was eager to step out of the city for a bit, having felt cramped up in his small apartment as of late. Unlike Haley, Ricky didn't pack a single thing and came to the mansion empty handed. It wasn't the best plan, but his plans never were. He took a seat on his bed and laid back while he waited for his roommate Arian Laith to arrive.

Jude Harrow had dressed up for the occasion: vintage suit and vintage tie, his only shout out to the weather was the color, a muted warm grey over a baby blue. His intent, likely, was to look older, a dapper young man in a well-tailored suit with a well-loved leather briefcase over one shoulder. In reality, he still looked exactly like what he was: seventeen, shy, naive, and the first one there.
But at least he was well-dressed.
Uncertainly, he circled the strange room, eyeing all the beds, and then picked one more or less at random, sinking down to sit on the edge and blinking in surprise. It was soft. He wasn't sure he'd even slept on a bed that soft.
Slowly he leaned back onto his elbows, and then flat on his back. He didn't worry about why he was here. Friends had invited, and it seemed worth the effort.

Arian had been curious about the note he had received while out on patrol inviting him out to an old house that was apparently now a B & B, curious enough that he'd decided to check it out. He wasn't sure what he'd been expecting but the 19th century mansion hadn't been it. He was apparently in room 2, according to the room number he'd been given with a Ricky Cunningham and Arian figured that he should probably drop off the rucksack with his stuff in his room before figuring out what to do next. The room when he finally found it was already occupied and Arian figured that the other was his room mate for the weekend. It didn't hurt to confirm though so he asked quietly as he set his bag down by a bed "Are you Ricky? Because if so I guess we're room mates" well at least for the weekend they were. ----------------------------------------------- Marlin wasn't too sure what he was doing out here and wasn't sure he wanted to think to hard on it - because then he'd acknowledge that he'd ended up coming out to some place on the basis of a note that he'd received while out on patrol. Still he was here now and the 19th century mansion, while unexpected (in that he hadn't thought that the bed and breakfast would be quite so large) was certainly in setting with the historical period. His room assignment appeared to be room 1, and Marlin reckoned that the first order of the evening was probably to drop his duffel off. It seemed however, that someone had had the same idea, the room already occupied by a blond who looked to be still in high school. According to the room assignments, he was apparently rooming with a Jude Harrow and a Darren Waughner so Marlin assumed that the other was one of the two. "Hi I'm Marlin" he said cheerfully as he dropped his duffel down by one of the unoccupied beds. "Marlin Joanson."

It really shouldn't have taken Darren THAT long to figure out what to pack and bring along. It wasn't like he did a lot of the 1900s LARPing stuff - most of that was Vampire and even that he wasn't too big on. He'd done a game or two in the past but most of the outfits he'd had for that weren't... well PERIOD enough. If he was going to do this, he was going to do it right! A few alterations to a few of the outfits rendered them fit enough for his liking, and some black hair chalk to the highlights in his hair, which he then tucked up under a well cared for bowler hat, left him feeling he was good enough to go. Packing the rest of his outfits in a rucksack that would mesh well enough for the period, he had made his way to the mansion. He hated being the last one there, but when he got his room assignment and got up to the room - it appeared that was exactly WHAT he was. Moving to the last unoccupied bed, Darren dropped his rucksack down and slid off the bowler hat, nodding his head to the two other men in the room. One looked close to about his age - the other looked a bit older. "Evening Gents, name's Darren Waughner." He placed the bowler hat down next to the bed and smiled at them as he sat down on the bed. "Marlin Joanson and Jude Harrow I presume?" He looked at each of the other males in turn. Hopefully they'd all get along swimmingly. Hopefully.

Friday Evening: Call to Dinner
A man in butler’s clothes goes from room to room, knocking on doors and inviting those inside down to dinner. When the guests arrive in the dining room, they find a number of people already seated – four men and five women, all in 1900s period dress. There is a lavish setting of food, and plenty of seats around the table for everyone!
Once people have taken their seats, the man at the head of the table stands to address the gathered group. As he stood, the lights dimmed, except for a spotlight over him.
“Ah, hello and welcome, honored guests. My name is Charles, your host. For tonight, and the next three days, you will find yourselves transported back to 1905, and you will be asked to solve a murder most foul. You see, in approximately the year 1903, a young woman named Lillie Logan resided in this very house. She was found dead in her bedroom, an apparent suicide by hanging…but the circumstances were very suspicious. The police wrote it off, but people talked, as people will…” He gestured around the table, and lights lit on eight people in full period dress. “Eight of our guests were involved in the events surrounding Miss Logan’s death.” Charles began to gesture, indicating each person as he named them. "Annie Noonan," an woman in her late 50s, hair bleached white, casually sipping from a glass of wine, "Elsie Brockschmidt," a young woman no more than 25, with dark hair and dark eyes, looking bored, "Edward Chapman," a brown-haired man in his early 20s who looked like he wanted to sink into his chair, "Caroline Davis," another woman in her 20s, this one blonde, staring at her plate, "Joseph Hall," a young blond man of about 25, who looked more bored than anything, "and of course, Lillie's family - Alice," a brunette in her 30s, "William," a dark-haired man in his 50s, "and Minerva." a brunette in her 50s.
“It will be your task to determine what happened to Lillie Logan…and perhaps discover a little more than that.” Charles sat down, and the rest of the lights flicked on, signaling the start of dinner.
OOC Info This is an RP opportunity! Chat with the people at the head of the table and figure out who they are and what they had to do with Lillie's death! Please quote Guardian Cosmos to RP with NPCs!
Apologies for requote; apparently I missed someone while writing this prompt!

People in the 1900s had to be nuts. N. U. T. S. Nuts. That was the litany that Hafwen had over and over in her mind as she sat at the table in the ankle length dress that she had to dig out from a corner of her wardrobe at home. It was a wonderful coincidence really that she still had that dress from a short skit that her History teacher had them put up as part of a project endeavour for the same time period though never had she thought that she would willingly don the outfit again in this lifetime.
Everything from the plunging neckline and how stifled her movements were pointed to how all of this were way out of her league but nevertheless she was already here so she might as well play her part as one of Charles' guests well, she reminded herself, a polite smile on her face as she nodded to acknowledge each of the introduced people in turn. A murder mystery of sorts. Well, she supposed that she could start the ball rolling if the other guests sitting at the table were shy or preoccupied with eating for the moment. The sooner she got the evening out of the way, the sooner she could retreat to the comfort of her assigned room and change into something infinitely more comfortable.
"Miss Alice?" An inclination of her head towards the lady in question as she held her gaze for a few seconds before posing her question. "If I may ask... how are you related to Miss Lillie and what were you doing on that fateful day itself?"

Alice gave the girl a sad smile, looking up from her food to answer the question. "Lillie was my little sister," she explained, and then her expression became infinitely sadder. "I was with my late husband and our daughter, God rest their souls. I lost them in an accident not six months ago."

It appeared that Darren had arrived just in the nick of time. Just as he had started to get comfortable and was hoping to get a bit chummy with his new roomies – the butler arrived to call them down to dinner. Nodding his head to the two gents as he passed by on his way down to the dining room. If dinner was being served, you best bet the young man was going to be in attendance. Surveying the room he took a seat near a certain blue haired girl that looked awfully familiar. He was pretty sure it was her – but it wasn’t until she spoke that full recognition dawned. Oh my, this weekend just went from entertaining to downright enjoyable. He wondered for a moment if the girl would recognize him, but he doubted he’d made a huge impression their first meeting. Turning his attention back to the murder mystery at hand, he took in the story and thought on it a little. Hanging didn’t seem right for a young lady during that time period. Poison was the woman’s way right? At least for the period. He could of course be wrong, it had been a long time since he’d studied up on suicide in the early 1900s. Though Edward Chapman caught his attention. He definitely did not want to be here – or at least have attention drawn to him. Unfortunately for him – his actions did the exact opposite for Darren. "Mr. Chapman," Darren said after taking a sip of water from the table. "What was your relationship to Lillie, if I may pry?"

Edward sat up, looking a little bit alarmed to be addressed. "We were friends." He replied, perhaps a little too quickly. "Good friends, but just friends. I had hoped...but things never work out the way you hope, do they?" He shot a glare down the table towards Joseph Hall, who just raised an eyebrow in response and went for his wine.

Watching the man glare down the table at Joseph Hall, Darren's lip quirked slightly before he nodded his head to Edward. "No, no they don't sometimes."His own eyes drifted toward the blue haired girl who had addressed Alice - but only for a moment - before he turned and addressed Joseph. "Mr. Hall, how did you know Lillie and Edward?" He took a sip of his water again, there really wasn't much to go off of yet. But hopefully someone would provide a good clue.

A dark-haired kid with green streaks in his hair had come in not long after, claiming the last of the beds. He'd looked to be around the blond's age and had introduced himself as Darren Waughner which meant that the blond who had been first in the room was probably Jude. There hadn't really been any time to chit chat though since shortly after Darren's arrival there had been a knock at the door that had been a butler inviting them down to dinner. He'd moved to head down not long after Darren, figuring that maybe there would be time after the meal to try and get to know the pair that were to be his room mates better, glad that he'd taken the time to put together a couple of outfits that he thought might fit the period - working in a costume shop had its benefits - especially when one's father owned said costume shop. Apart from his room mate, there was girl with curly blue hair that looked somewhat familiar, although Marlin wasn't sure where from. Although maybe it was something to puzzle on later, instead he focused on listening to the questions posed and the answers given in response. He couldn't help but notice the animosity in the look that Edward had directed towards Joseph Hall and decided that he'd would direct his question to the bored looking man. Or at least he had been planning to ask his question to Joseph Hall - but had been beaten to the punch by Darren so had settled for adding. "I too would be interested in knowing the answer to that question Mr Hall."

Joseph looked extremely put-upon to even have to answer the question. "I am not quite so well acquainted with Mr. Chapman, except by reputation, but Miss Lillie and I courted for a time right near her death."
"You're the reason she was depressed, if anyone should take fault for her death it's you," Edward said, sitting up. He finally seemed to have some fire and energy in him.
"And what about your part, Mr. Chapman?" Hall raised his eyebrows. "But I imagine you'd rather not think about that." Edward looked stricken, and sank back into his chair, the fire gone as quickly as it had arrived.

Friday Evening P. 2: A Rather Unexpected Turn
Unfortunately, dinner and questioning was to be interrupted – because Annie Noonan suddenly stood up after finishing her wine and placed a hand to her stomach.
“Oh, I feel absolutely terrible, I suspect that wine was a bit…off…” Her voice trailed off, and she fell to the ground – apparently dead.

Jude had barely had time to stutter out his name, greeting the other two, before it was dinner -- where, for once of the first times in his life, it seemed his often-eccentric way of dressing fit right in. Still. As the others asked questions, he mostly sank down in his chair with a small notebook across his knees, taking notes and trying to work up teh courage to ask a question. He was about to voice something, to say something to Annie, when she keened over. He was left blinking, surprised and alarmed for just a second before he slid out of his chair to check her out. To make sure there was nothing wrong with her, no unusual marks or signs, nothing that would indicate it wasn't really the wine that did her in.
