What was it with this weather? It had been so hot and humid lately that Badgey just didn't want to do anything. He barely wanted to breathe it was so miserable. He managed to find some decent round-the-clock shade, but he had barely moved from the spot in several hours. The sun had already made half its path across the sky by the time his stomach started to growl louder than the birds chirping in the trees above.
With a sigh and a grumble, he managed to pick up one hoof after the other to push himself forward. "Ugh," he groaned. "I just don't want to do anything today." He huffed as he shook out his mane - which was sticking to his forehead and neck.
As he made his way deeper into the tree line he could smell the dampness of the moss surrounding the river. It was a glorious smell and he managed to pick up his pace ever so slightly to get to it faster. Just to be able to have that sweet taste on his tongue and the coolness run down his throat would be amazing in of itself.
Before he knew it he made it to the edge of the river and started to drink. The cool water was like an amazing rain after a long drought the way it went down his throat. But now that he was filling up on liquid he realized that he was starving. Having not eaten since the night before Badgey had to have something before he started to feel sick. He looked up from the river and looked around. It was just as hot next to the river as it was under the shade of the trees, but his desire to move and do anything was hindered by the heat.
"Why does everything have to be so far away?" His voice turned whiny as he closed his eyes and wished for someone to cater to him and bring him some fresh wet grass or berries or flowers.
