Tokkal had wander off from the lands, she had been getting itchy about being around the herd and not doing much outside of training. What was training if you didn't have real life experience. She huffed and shook out her dreadlocks of her mane and kept her head low as she moved through the forest to the woods then to the plains. Her ears swiveling and her nostrils flaring to take in the new scents.
Ahead, she saw something short and dark. The warrior in her tried to be silent to sneak up on the being, but as her brother knew, she had not a quiet bone in her body. Noe was she well at being concealed... or could fly to keep out of sight. All she really had were her strengths and a little bit of whits.
She started to close in closer, not realizing the small creature was another soquili.

[[OOC: Just letting you know you spelled my username wrong in the first post. xD; KiiNiku]]
Badgey had been getting a good morning exercise in, from galloping through the tall grasses that almost covered his vision, to trodding through water to strengthen his muscles. It was a great workout and now he was relaxing after having a lot to drink from the nearby watering hole. He sighed as he stared up at the sky, proud of himself and his motivation to strengthen himself.
That's when he heard something. It was a loud sound, like thumping a hoof against the bark of a tree. Badgey's attention came back down to the earth and he looked around, spotting the larger blue female Soquili coming toward him.
With a stubborn huff, Badgey stood his ground and stared at the female coming toward him. He called out to her, "Hey!" He tried to make himself sound larger than he was, but sometimes that wasn't always the way he sounded.

Tokkal stopped a couple lengths away and snorted. Her head arching up and then cocking it to the side. " 'ey, now, what'chu be? You hav'ta'be kiddin' me, if you be a soquili." The troll hadn't seen one so small, he obviously wasn't a foal, he was stacked differently. She lowered her head some turning an eye at him. "You be a skunk?" She asked curiously.

Badgey couldn't help but feel offended at the mares remarks to him. Of course he was a Soquili! Well... and Usdia... but still! He had hooves! He was just like her! "Of course I--" As she looked at him and asked him if he was a skunk, he puffed his cheeks and snorted before glaring at her.
"I am no skunk, mare!" He looked at her up and down, sizing her up. She was at least twice his size. And she had tusks. Well, if that wasn't interesting... and funny... Badgey stifled a laugh. "And what're you? A warthog?" He burst out laughing. He was known for being rude and a prankster, and there it was.

She snorted indignantly and lowered her head to his level. "I be a troll." She said rather seriously. "We be a proud race. Warriors." TokTok snorted at his scarf and looked him over. "Dog, or Feline.... You be too tiny for things other than a good chase" The troll mare lifted her head. "I be coming to find a good spar, and I be findin me a tiny zebra..." Her ears laid back against her dreads and she started to move around him. "Da gods be hatin' on me dis day." She grumbled, as her tail attempted to swat at him as she passed by.

With a roll of his eyes, Badgey looked at the mare indignantly. Proud, indeed. But as soon as she started to pick more fun at his size, that was when he had it. He had always been picked on for his size. He had grown up around larger Soquili and they felt they were always so much more superior to him. But not anymore. He wouldn't take it anymore.
With a huff and a whine, Badgey said, "I am not just game! I am just as brave and strong as you are!" He twitched his head away from her tail before he bucked. He wasn't particularly aiming at her, but he was aiming to get some anger out.
"If you're so tough, how about you just prove it?" He could feel his temper rising as he squared off. He was ready for a good spar, even if she was so much taller than he was.

She felt the graze of his hoof and she turned around at his words. Tok'kal thought about this carefully and then. "Prove it by fightin' someone smaller dan me..." The troll narrowed her eyes a moment and then canted her head to the side. "I don't know how I be feelin' about dat, little one." An actual upgrade in his name, that she didn't know. He was either actually brave or rather stupid, but the mare hadn't decided yet. She gave a throaty hum before looking around then back at the short stallion. "Fine, if dat be what you want, and I do be needin' practice on all shapes and sizes, first, I shall want tah be knowin' your name." The troll said shifted her hide on her shoulders and flicking her ears forward. The usida had her real attention now.

Badgey couldn't believe that actually worked. Well, actually he kind of could considering this wasn't the first time he'd picked a fight with another Soquili before. But the last time he ended up fleeing instead of standing his ground. With her agreement and her question, Badgey shook his head as he snorted. "The name's Badgey. I'm named after the stripes and the mark on my hindquarters. I can be just as fierce as one, too!"
He had come face to face with a badger once before, and he never wanted it to happen again. He's just glad he didn't have the same temper. But he did have the lack of patience. He pawed at the ground. "And what's your name, tusky?" A mocking grin spread across his muzzle. He was starting to get cocky which was usually just the beginning of his shenanigans.

"Tok'kal." Pronounced 'Tock' and 'Call' said right next to each other. "Call me tusky, and I be swingin' you by your scarf, Badger Boy. Heh." Her voice was a bit more light hearted now. TokTok hummed her amusement. "What be the name of dis competition or whatever you be callin' it?" The troll trotted at a high step around the area, just loosening muscles and having some fun as she waited for his answer. He'd probably do something he's good at. Short ones can run pretty fast, right? She wasn't sure but it made sense in her head.

Badgey tried out her name under his breath, "Tok'kal." It was a hard name, one that sounded like a warrior. Perhaps she wasn't lying when she said she was one. He huffed at her calling him "badger boy" before trotting along the opposite way she was. Certainly her legs were longer than his, which means she could make larger strides, but he knew something he could possibly challenge her at.
As he circled back to the middle, a thought crossed his mind causing him to smirk. He could possibly beat her in a race... but it would take a little cunning on his part. He nodded toward her and said, "How about a race? First one to the watering hole and back wins." He stamped his hoof in the ground, digging a small enough ditch to mark where they had been standing so neither could cheat and said they made it back before the other without the evidence.
"And," he said as he looked back up to her, "whoever loses will have to do one thing the other wants." His ears twitched as he thought of the race and the potential of winning. What would he ask if he won? What would she ask of him? Only time would tell.

Tok'kal didn't look too pleased, her brother and sister were much quicker than her, but she covered up her uncertainty and lined up beside him. She squinted to look at the watering hole. Then gave a snort, she couldn't back down now, really. "Fine, den. I count down then...." She shifted and laid her ears back. "On three. One... two...Three." The last word was rushed and Tok'kal leaped forward, the strength of her legs pushing her in a far jump to land ahead, a bit of a head start, but that was the best she could do as she tried to gather herself in the landing to move into a powerful canter, then gallop.

As Badgey lined up beside her he pawed at the ground, his ears twitched back, and he focused on the watering hole. He would have to show just how fast he was despite his size.
On "three" he dashed forward, but he was already behind after she took a leap forward to raise her chances of beating him. He huffed and pushed himself harder, trying to make himself fly as if he had wings. He was covering good distance for his size, but he was still behind.
This was going to be harder than he thought.

The mare was more an endurance runner. She could run long distance, but not at any breakneck speed. TokTok just kept he gaze ahead, watching as the watering hole slowly drew closer. She glanced back and, by the gods, he sure was a fast little thing. Tok'kal was hoping he wouldn't be quick, but she was looking to be wrong. The the thought made her stumble before focusing ahead and gathering composure. Hokkar would never let her live this down if she lost to a badger thing.

She was making great strides to get ahead, and that's when Badgey started to feel like he wasn't going to win and show this mare what he was made of. He thought as he galloped, What if I were to play a joke on her? Make her think I was injured or something? That could work. He took a small leap to see if that would help him catch up to her. It barely did.
The earth beneath his hooves shuddered and he could see dirt flying up from underneath Tok'kal's. But she stumbled. Perfect. Badgey smiled wickedly and pushed himself past her - just ever so slightly. His little legs wouldn't be able to carry him too much faster than her. His lungs expanded as he lifted his head high and whinnied. The watering hole drew closer.
And so he headed straight for it. He pretended to stumble and he slid into the banks of the watering hole. This wasn't originally part of the race, but this was part of his plan. He turned on his heel and groaned in pain, limping out of the water.
He hadn't really hurt himself, but he wanted to make her think he wouldn't be able to continue on before taking her by surprise. I hope this works...
