Looking back, Boaz had to admit that running clinic sessions was a daunting experience in itself initially though as with most, if not all, things in life it wasn't as bad as it was all made out to be when one got the hang of the work flow and patient spectrum they saw after a period of time. Today seemed to be one of the slower days that the Orthopaedic clinic not very commonly saw, the number of patients just about manageable without the usual harassments and complaints about the long waiting time the clinic staff were already used to handling by now.
Taking a sip from the still lukewarm takeaway cup of coffee he had placed next to the computer terminal, Boaz flipped open the file that was handed to him by the clinic assistant, his gaze lifting as a slight dip of his head in her direction indicated that he was ready to see the next patient. Miss Melinda Reese. The name was vaguely familiar, the sight of the latest entry penned in his own handwriting confirming the fact that he had seen her previously.
According to what he had previously written, she was making a good recovery and wasn't due for her next appointment yet. A walk in? He frowned, already getting up from his seat to join the clinic assistant at the entrance of the examination room, hoping innately that whatever brought the young woman back wasn't anything serious that aggravated her already healing injury.

Melinda found herself chewing on her bottom lip as she tugs on the pants leg of her jeans. She didn't a clue what she was doing here, other then the fact she really wanted a chance to talk to Boaz again "You being foolish Mel..." she mutters to herself as she sat on the exam table. Honestly what could she tell him?
Twisted her ankle?
No....she managed to walk, so that wouldn't work.
Maybe she pulled a muscle?
Nope, that wouldn't work either.
She moves her ankle before she smiles, of course. She would tell him a sharp pain ran through her leg every time she move her ankle, hat had to work, and she be able to talk to him. She couldn't help herself as she smiles, yup that was her plan. Glancing up with her green eyes towards the door, she swore she heard the door pop.
Leaning back some, she relaxes. If everything went the way she wanted it to, she be able to figure out a little more about him. Then she would figure out her next course of action.

Boaz remembered Melinda the moment he saw her seated on the examination table with an almost expectant look on her face, a concerned expression crossing his features as he went through the previous consult in his mind. Did he miss something as a result of his own inexperience? Something that she was now paying the price for just because he wasn't astute enough to pick it up back then?
"Miss Reese. We weren't expecting you back so soon." He began to address her, a little worried now that her main reason for wanting to see him today was so that she could find out why exactly had he failed to pick up on something that was now jeopardizing her recovery further. One thing at a time for now though. He tried to calm himself down, his tone tentative as he allowed his eyes to meet hers. "Now, can you tell me what happened to bring you back here today?"

Mel gives him a weak smile before she looks down "Honestly, I'm not sure. Every time I move my ankle I have this sharp pain run threw my leg. It just started happening a couple days ago. I stayed off of it, even put ice on it. Still the same, so I figured you would want to check it out again." she looks up at him as she chews on her lip at the corner.
She was really hoping that didn't so way off, and actually worked for what she had to pretend in the first place.
"I'm sorry if I am taking you away from anything special, or someone special." she dropped that little word, just to see what kind of reaction. Knowing her luck, he was probably dating someone.

A sharp pain that refused to go away even despite the usual rest and ice. That didn't sound good. "I see. Can you recall what you were doing just before it started acting up? Does it occur only when you move your ankle, or is it always there even when you've kept your weight off it?" It was getting harder and harder to keep himself from frowning and Boaz promptly reminded himself to refrain from doing that since it wouldn't do for him to alarm Mel unnecessarily when she was looking to him for an answer to the predicament that she now faced.
He shook his head at her next comment, a small smile on his face as he tried to address that particular concern. "Ah no, there's no need to be sorry when you have something ailing you like this. It's what we're here for plus there's hardly anything that you're drawing my attention from really." Would she require an X-ray to reevaluate her ankle? Maybe a scan since an X-ray tends to have a lower yield in such a situation? It all depended on what she told him next of course and already he was starting to wonder if he needed to bring someone more senior in to ensure that he was doing the right thing in her best interest.

Mel kept quiet for a moment as she thought over her next move, trying to come up with another excuse behind what she already told him.
You should have just left it be, but no, you had to see him again.
Her inner voice scolded her as she shakes her head "I think I was actually doing was stretches, a normal routine I do in the morning when I first wake up. And its only when I put too much weight on it." that should be good, hopefully. Taking in a slow breath, she gives him a weak smile.
Wait, if she heard that right, he just said she wasn't pulling him from anything. This made her smile on the inside as she nods to him "If your sure, I mean, I can come back another day. I'll just keep putting ice on it like I have been." lifting a hand, she pushed a few of her brown curls from her face "I honestly don't think it was anything you might have missed, just me pushing myself too hard really. I'm good for that, just ask anyone in my family."

"I'm sure. Besides, I'm currently of the opinion that this shouldn't be ignored or looked upon lightly if it has troubled you so much to have to make a trip down here today." It seemed to Boaz that Mel was trying to make light her problem just because it might lead to more work for him and his fellow colleagues, hence his attempt to quickly reassure her that that was indeed not the case.
This was an unexpected turn of event during the course of her otherwise unremarkable recovery and while he could agree with her that it was probably nothing that they should be overtly concerned with, it was still for the best that he proposed some form of imaging just to make sure that they weren't missing anything. "Shall we repeat an X-ray for you today at least? I highly doubt that we'll find anything out of sorts but it's probably better to make sure don't you think?" Came his suggestion as he allowed his gaze to meet hers.

Mel chews on the inside of her cheek, really freaking out now. This wasn't going as she thought, nor did she really honestly think this through. Swallowing, she shakes her head as she attempts to slip off the examining table "No, honestly I think I may have just stepped down wrong. Really, I don't want to put you through all the trouble if its just something minor." she gives him a weak smile, still trying to get down off the table.
This was a find mess she put herself in, and at this rate...
She was gonna have to own up to her lie, and tell him the real reason she come back.

The discomfort that Mel was experiencing, presumably from Boaz's attempts at persuading her to let him clear her foot with an X-ray at the minimum, was rather obvious by this point now that she was even trying to get off the examination table. "It really isn't any trouble at all on our part, Miss Reese." He took a step back, literally as well as figuratively as evident by his next words to her.
"But I will respect your decision in not pursuing this any further at this point. Now, is there something else that I can help you with at least? An off day or two to take the weight off your foot? Some meds to help ease the discomfort?" The last thing he really wanted at this point was to botch up this really really badly and destroy what little rapport that still remained after their interactions thus far. There would be no second chances should that ever come to pass in his own opinion.

Mel shook her head before looking down "There isn't anything wrong with my foot. I lied, its actually alot better since the last appointment." just to prove the point, she wiggles her ankle as she draws a circle in the air. Her face was flushed and she couldn't look at him. She pretty much felt like an idiot at the moment.
"I...I...I lie so I could get a chance to talk to you again."
Turning away, she grabs her shoe and quickly pulls it on "And now that I have made a complete and utter fool of myself. I will make my leave, I am so sorry I took up your valuable time that could have been used on another patient." pushing her hair away, she attempts to slip off the examine table again.

She what? Boaz found himself momentarily at a loss for words at Mel's sudden confession, not entirely sure what to make of the situation as instincts kicked in and made him close the distance between them in what might come across as a last ditch attempt to stop her from leaving the consultation room. "W-wait a minute. Miss Reese..." He tried to keep his voice as calm as possible, his arms stretched out on both sides yet not quite touching her while he worked on getting her to stay or at least explain her words and actions that baffled him entirely.
"You wanted to talk to me again about something else entirely. Right?" He tried, his tone tentative as he made eye contact with her and offered her a kindly smile. "I'll listen. Just calm yourself down, take a moment to gather your thoughts and remember what you came all the way down here for. Whatever it is, I'm sure it's important to you, isn't it?"

Mel looks at Boaz, chewing on her bottom lip. She wasn't sure what to say as she swallows. His eyes, they seem to just bring peace to her and all she wanted to do was look into them forever. Looking away, she takes in a slow deep breath before she looks back to him "I lied, because I wanted to get to know you Boaz. At the last appointment, you were just so...and I couldn't stop myself. Your attractive, and I just wanted a chance to talk to you again." she looks back down as her cheeks darken quite a bit "But I'm so so sorry I lied, I really shouldn't have. I just didn't know how else to get in touch with you, and I didn't want you to think I was creepy." she pauses before she gives a weak laugh to her comment.
"Though at the moment, you probably think I am just that. So I figured it probably best I leave now, before I damage anymore of my pride." shaking her head, she push her curls from her face.

"I see..." Boaz should have seen this coming. But with him being him, he was blissfully oblivious the entire time right up till Mel had to blatantly spell out her interest in him right in his face which, needless to say, blew his mind away entirely. Oh. So that was what that had all been about. "It's alright. You don't have to apologize really. I'm glad that there's nothing wrong with your foot."
This wouldn't be the first time that someone had decided to confess her interest in him though he had to admit that it was a first from a patient. While it wasn't terribly professional on his part to say what he was about to say next, he wasn't sure what made him decide on that course of action in the end instead of gently rejecting Mel the way he would usually do. Perhaps he found it hard to say no to her after considering what she had done and said to get to this point? Maybe it was something else about her that made her seem different from the others who came along before her.
"Honestly, I don't think that what you did qualifies as creepy. Gutsy yes, creepy not exactly but before I get too carried away, this place is um... not exactly the best one to hold such a conversation. If you could spare the time and are willing, may I propose that we meet somewhere later in the evening to talk this over?" He proposed gently.

Mel was honestly at a lost for words, just staring at Boaz as if he had grown a second head on her. Wait, he didn't turn her down, he actually wanted to meet up? Shaking her head, a smile slips across her lips as she nods "Alright, yea sure...we can meet up. How about tonight? I know this pretty nice cafe just by the university we can get dinner and just hang out?" she was honestly still in shock that this didn't backfire, and he was agreeing to meet up with her.
Pushing her hand through her curls, she glance around before she grabs one of those pamphlets that no one ever seem to read. She carefully tore one of the blank edges off then reach for a pen in her coin purse.
Writing her cell down, she holds it out to him "That's my cell, why not call me tonight so I can give you the directions tot he cafe? I promise you won't regret it. Great music, great food, and its normally quiet during the week."

"Sounds like a plan to me. I'll be in touch with you later this evening then Miss Reese."
Boaz promised, taking hold of the slip of paper that Mel had written her number on to look it over before tucking it into his shirt pocket. He was still pretty much in a daze over how he should go about handling this, but at least he could take comfort in the fact that there was quite a bit of time for him to ponder over it as he went about his work for the rest of the day before the actual meet up that would take place later that same evening.
