The first text was received with a soft disgruntled sound, as Stormy had put her phone to obnoxiously vibrate until she stopped it (mostly for the sake of getting her attention than anything else, as her mind did wander often)--this was amplified by the fact that it was sitting on the small table by Nevada's bed, loudly alerting its owner that someone was trying to talk to her. She hadn't left her roomie's side beyond bathroom breaks, occasional walks, and the need to get food or other assorted items to help her occupy her time. With a yawn she sat up in her chair and winced as the stiffness of her arms and neck came to her all at once, reading Candace's message with one eye.
Challenges.
Since her promotion, Stormy had been in a sort of rut. While specializations were still far into the future (assuming she even lived that long), she had begun to feel the lingering indecision that came with how to proceed in her Mist training. Yes, they were supposed to be general jack knives, and yes it was encouraged for them to consider specific areas to concentrate in anyway, but . . . it was hard for her to decide. Maybe it was still too early to--after all, she'd only have a few spars with Gale, and a couple with others as a basic trainee. But it still nagged at her mind nevertheless, another responsibility on top of other worrisome thoughts that Thane did not understand how to handle. His advice was always the same:
< < Move forward and do not tarry on your doubts. You waste your time thinking of the future when you should be acting in the present. > >
It was vague and open-ended, which she both appreciated and disliked. He was most likely testing her as well, though for what purpose he kept his counsel on.
Nevertheless, Candace's second text added more to the repertoire of things to do (granted, she'd done the Mist training course with her, so she probably didn't have to again, and the Haunted House, well . . . That was to be seen). Before Stormy knew it she was making a plan of action. It was time to climb up the ranks of each little test and prove herself--not just to the one she was calling mentor, but eventually to Aria and Lance as well, even if she had spoken very little (or not at all in the case of the latter). If she could accomplish these tests, however, she'd have the courage to come forward and do . . . something.
She'd figure it out later.
For now, Stormy stretched her stiff body out and shook drowsiness from her limbs, setting Michelangelo the red panda plush by Nevada's bedside to keep vigil. "I'll be back later," she promised. "And then I'll read you 'Sleeping Beauty' if you're in the mood."
There was silence of course in response, but she smiled a little nevertheless.

For a moment Stormy wondered if Candace lived in the town as well, as she hadn't been to the older Mist's place before. Good thing she checked the upper levels first.
The problem was, the door was locked.
Okay uh . . . Later . . . yesss . . . At least she hadn't picked up someone else's attention trying!
(( Locked! ))

Waiting was easy when you had books. Mmmmm, books.
Except the door was still locked when she tried it.
Back to innocently reading in the stairwell!

No wonder Candace thought she was Belle, nose in a book for another hour like that. But she'd explain to her at some point that she had already met the Beast, and that clearly she was not a Belle--somebody else had taken that role~
For now, however, it was business time. Stormy crept up to the door and listened in for a handful of seconds. When nothing resounded past the wall, she tried the door and, inwardly sighing with relief, found it unlocked. Time to really test her thieving skills.Quote: First Die: First die: Determines if the door is locked or unlocked. Evens mean the door is unlocked, odds mean the door is locked. If the door is locked, try again later! Second Die: Rolling a 6 - 8: No one is home. GO GO GOOOOOO! (( Unlocked + successful entry! ))

Holy cow she liked this apartment. If this was what she got to look forward to as a full hunter, oh dear God . . . One day Stormy would invite herself over on strictly non-invasive-thieving-things duty. And bring like. Tea. And blankets. And stuff. Yes good.
The problem was, she didn't know what was precious to Candace. She spent a minute or so investigating the kitchen and living room, cooing over this or that but not finding anything striking. A little hesitant, Stormy turned to the bedroom last, knowing if anything would stand out, it had to be there, right? She'd have to swallow down this nervousness of being in other people's places, though . . .
Tip to heel, she entered and scanned the room, though it took maybe two seconds to realize there was a collection of shoes out in front of the closet. A lot of shoes. Whoa, Candace. Stormy made a mental note to get her nice ones for her birthday and Christmas and wait, was there even a shoe she didn't have here? Holy God.
One in particular got her attention, mostly because it was very colorful okay. Oblivious about shoes, she glided over and gently plucked the Jimmy Choo Zaps up (though in her mind, not knowing the name, they were simply super cool rainbow straps shoes).
Oh my God so pretty okay ahhhhhhh sorry Candace.Quote: Choose the Jimmy Choo Zaps: Candace will try and find them immediately. Roll 1d10. If the first die is odd, she finds you before your week is over. Try again next time! (( Shoe grab success! ))

And now for the getaway. She felt like Aladdin in the Cave of Wonders, if instead of jewels there were lots of shiny and slick and chic shoes, though thankfully the room wouldn't be suddenly collapsing on her just by touching the treasure . . .
Her nerves were on end as she crept out of the bedroom, suddenly feeling like every little noise was too loud in her ears. Had she imagined the door opening? Were those footsteps coming towards the room or not? Her heart began to pound with nervousness and excitement in equal amounts as she slid behind the kitchen counter, checked her surroundings, and quickly darted out of the apartment.
Wooooooo~! Shiny shoes get!Quote: Roll a 5 - 7: No one is home. But that means you get no celebratory juice box. ): RUUUUUUUUUUN! (( Successful escape! ))
