Ecavi I'm sorry I took so long to get this set up. Akane made her way to the training grounds. This time was different. Was she nervous? Definitely, she admitted to herself. For now she actually had someone who would help her train; a battlemaster. She had been doing her best on her own with random opponents, but to have someone to teach her was even better. Would her attempts at training be good enough for him? Pins prickled her paws as she walked. This was her heart's current desire. To learn to defend herself.
The red lioness reached the grounds and looked around. He didn't appear to be here yet so she took a moment to watch the others sparring. Akane studied their movements and tried to think what she might do in a similar situation. Her tail twitched as a lion went to attack another. She was always striving to better herself. Already she had improved from the wretched creature that had first joined.

Chaka was still adjusting to his latest endeavor. Though he had followed through on the plan to recruit soldiers for training, he had yet to do a great deal of individual work. Their team was still in the early stages and so far it was promising.. but it was an adjustment. He was grateful that, at least, nobody had to be kicked out yet.
He arrived slightly later than they had planned for, Inina draped over his shoulders. When he spotted Akane, he approached quickly and leaned down to let the snake off his back, watching her slither off to the side, before straightening up to address the soldier.
"Sorry for the delay," he said, offering a smile, "Inina has agreed to help, she may notice things we miss. Are you ready?"

She turned as her group's leader spoke to her. Her eyes caught the movement of the snake and she nodded. "I'm not in a hurry. That is a good idea. I'll have to remember that and ask Que to come watch some time." Live and learn. Akane nodded to the snake, "thank you for your assistance."
The red lioness turned to find a spot where the two of them could spar in peace and not disturb any others in their practice. Satisfied with her spot she turned to face him. "Thank you for taking time out of your schedule to spar with me." Usually she would just jump right in, but she was unsure how he would react to that. Being her leader he might want some sort of formality.

Chaka smiled and nodded as Akane seemed accepting of the help that Inina had offered to supply. The snake had helped him while he was training, especially after Shisa was promoted and no longer trained with him so closely. Naturally, it would have been hard to train completely by yourself, but analyzing the outcome wasn't something he had tended to do openly.
He watched her go find herself a spot to start from and waited until she turned back to him before positioning himself across from her at a distance requiring a few steps before you could even jump to him.
"Are you ready?" he said, ignoring her gratitude for now, pausing for a moment before nodding to indicate for her to make the first move.

"Yes Battlemaster," she answered him as she studied the immediant area around them. What was there that she could use to her advantage? There was just enough space between them that he could easily spot and destroy any charge brought at him. So she needed something now to attack later. Then she felt the grains of sand between her pads. Yes that would do. She bunched her musles as she was going for a head on charge. As she sprang, Akane scooped sand up with her paws and sent it flying at his face.
He had several options that she could tell. Duck, which left him vulnerable, dodge, which moved his position either good or badly, or take sand to the face which would leave him blinded for a few seconds. She had to use those precious seconds to get close enough. Her paws powered her over the loose grains as she tried to predict which way he'd move. She reached out hoping to bat the lion with shealthed claws in her "attack" where she thought he'd be after dodging the sand.

(Since this is a training rp, we wouldn't need to do a full 5 rolls do we? Or I'm ok with doing all 5. ^_^ )

Move: Miss!
It would have been hard to miss the way she moved her toes, Chaka knew the very first move was an important one and there were very few ways to go that could truly catch someone by surprise- especially in a duel like this where you weren't truly being attacked.
It was because of this that he was able to turn his head away before the sand could actually get into his eyes-- but it left him stumbling a bit, right to where she reached out to attack him. As soon as he felt her paw (on his face, thanks to some graceless stumbling, no less!), he reacted by moving with the blow and backing away. A quick shake gave him enough confidence to open his eyes and lunge forward at her, but it hurt his eyes. It wasn't so easy to get rid of all that sand!
Total: 1
(( We'll definitely stop at 5 but if we're done before that, we can finish there. But if you want to be able to maybe use this duel for advancement, we should get the 5 rolls each ; ) ))

It worked! Her paw landed right on his face. Akane, though pleased with herself for the successful manuver, hoped he wouldn't hold it against her. She cautioned herself that one good attack doesn't win the war. The lioness also noticed he'd back away with her "attack" thus lessening damage she might have done. That'd be something to talk to the snake about.
Chaka made to lunge at her. She danced back twice to the right and then once to the left. Trying to make where she ended up harder for him to predict without leaving any openings for him to take advangate of. Akane decided to wait before making another attempt.

Move: Miss! His attack missed and he was left stumbling a few steps as he tried to follow her movements through bleary eyes. He risked taking a paw to his own face to get rid of the remaining sand that threatened his focus, his balance and his vision. Luckily, Akane didn't make another move immediately, she almost seemed to be waiting for him to retaliate-- but she didn't seem to be waiting in one place.
There was really only one option to keep things going, unless they wanted to start literally walking in circles and talking out the rest of a duel that wouldn't happen, and that was to try. She had momentum and clear sight on her side, it wasn't the strongest or the best approach- but he lunged forward again. If he landed, great. If he missed, hopefully she would be forced to counter-attack now.Total: 2

The flailing blow was easy for her to evade. Akane almost laughed at how easy it was. Then she remembered he was handicapped with his eyes. Surely if he could see then she'd of been in much greater trouble dodging it. She needed to end this quickly. So he can go wash his eyes, she told herself.
The red female bounced a couple steps to the left trying to get a clear shot. She didn't want to hurt him, but she did want to win. Akane thought she saw her opening and started for it. Nearly there a loud voice rang over the training grounds. Confused she paused and looked around. Who was it? What did they want?Move: miss Total: 3, 2, 1

Move: Hit! Chaka squeezed his eyes shut as he lunged, hoping to regain his sight in time to spare his pride such an embarrassing defeat- and it wasn't for nothing. He missed Akane but when his eyes blinked back open, he saw very clearly what was happening-- and then suddenly she was distracted. If she hadn't stumbled and looked, he wouldn't even have noticed it himself. With a grin, he lunged forward again- stopping short and swiping out at her legs in hopes of knocking her off balance. It would get her attention back where it was needed better than a knock to the head.
