Needless to say, what was meant to be a fun adventure to Serenia turned sour, when Samael thought he could defeat a hunting dragon on his first try. He sulked a bit as he loped back through the trees, feeling bruised where the thing's tail had smacked him. Vaguely, he wondered if he should just go ahead and fly to Ayr to continue on with his day, as planned. It was kind of a long way, though, especially after a beating. He huffed indignantly, the emerald ruff at the back of his neck fluffing up in indignation. And to come all the way out here just to be chased off seemed ridiculous! Of course he wasn't one to run from a fight!
With a growl, he threw himself up into another tree, climbing high into the leafy branches. Now that he'd faced one, he was determined not to leave this blasted continent behind until he'd killed one. And that was that.
Samael set off. Jumping heavily from branch to branch, using his wings to help him glide longer distances. Until at least, he peered through the trees to the ground below and spotted his prey. this creature was a bit smaller than the last one he fought, maybe a juvenile... Still, a dragon was not to be taken lightly, if his last efforts were any indication.
Taking a calming and self preparing breath, he kicked from the trees directly onto the young Ysali's back. The harsh crack that resounded startled Sam, and he hoped away quickly, fearing it was launching an attack. When his gaze focused fully back on the dragon, he almost felt bad... The creature hissed ferally at him, but waddled forward awkwardly and probably painfully, baring its teeth. Sam's eyes widened as he noticed that they were actually pretty similar looking... Hesitantly, Samael took a step back, wondering if he should leave the poor dragon alone, now that he'd injured it so badly. It tried to bounce forward, and only ended up flopping around. Samael sighed softly. No, it wouldn't be merciful to leave it now. "I guess... This is what I wanted, after all."
Falling into a crouch, he dove forward, locking his teeth at the base of the dragon's skull and jerking backward. He felt the parting of scales and the rip of muscle between his teeth, followed almost automatically by the taste of blood. And then, the Ysali was still before bursting into the orb that was his prize. With a sigh, Sam picked it up. Well, he couldn't let it go to waste! He turned the orb over in his claws. "Thank you..." He murmured. It was then that he decided to treasure and honor each orb he collected in honor of the dragons that would be slain.
