The Chalet
Located halfway up a mountainside is a Chalet with a difference. Usually you'd find snow and cold weather up where the Chalet is located, but not here. The abnormal weather up on the mountain is due to the incredibly hot weather that runs through the rocks and into natural springs. Instead of chilly and icy, it's humid and a comfortable warm almost all times of the year. Nearly every morning a soft mist rolls across the gardens of the Chalet and it's handful of holiday shacks, while the clouds fill the gaps in the mountains like pure white cotton candy. The view from either side of the Chalet is amazing. Not to mention the hike to the mountaintop spring is quite amazing, as well as the walk to the eastern spring and the ruins in the west.
The only place that is off-limits to the resort patrons is Drayce's personal hot spring, since it's located inside his private property, inside the tall wooden fencing of his Chalet home.

The Interior.
The original floor plan of the Chalet remains, but some serious changes were made. The first floor stayed pretty much the same, just remodelled to suit Drayce's luxurious tastes, especially the dining room, which admittedly never gets used. The laundry is just a washer and dryer located in the passageway off the side of the kitchen, where the downstairs bathroom was converted into a spa room for winter use. It's barely even a bathroom anymore. The family room opens up with French folding doors to the Chalets garden, which hasn't changed from when Drayce first bought the place.
The upper floor was completely converted on the other hand. The first bedroom and second were spared much change, just redesigned to be much more fancy. The fourth bedroom became a library after the walk-in robe was ripped out, which to be honest is more like a historical chronology of Drayce's families past, half the books being in an ancient draconic language, while half the other books are your basic history books, with some novels thrown into the mix. The third bedroom was completely ripped apart, the walk-in closet removed as well to change the whole area into a beautiful music room. This is Drayce's favourite room, and not even Darcy is allowed into it. You must be a very special person to Drayce to be allowed into this room.

"I promise I will take very good care of it,"
The man didn't bat an eyelid, or show that he registered her promise, but inside he felt utter relief that she'd even acknowledged his request. He'd noticed a slight look of surprise flitter across her features, but that was about it. Left to ponder his own thoughts, the nudge of a boot tip into his calf made him turn his attention to Aine with a lazy smile. Blinking lazily as she blatantly demanded to be taken to her new home, he signalled to any staff looking at them that he wanted to pay the bill. Missing her smile at her own thought, Dareios turned back to her in time to see her little display of affection with Herbert the Platypus. The corner of his lips tugged up into a small grin, and he remembered his own promise to keep the one thing in her life she clearly loved safe. Meeting her challenging gaze with a quirky grin, he was distracted by the waitress bringing over the bill. Slipping a crisp hundred dollar bill onto the tray, telling the girl to 'keep the change for herself' with a wink. Hearing her mention she'd hold the bag as he paid, he didn't get a chance to reply when she said she was going to meet him back at the bike. Blinking in surprise, he made sure nothing of value was left behind and slid out the chair to catch up to his phoenix with the delicious hips.

With long strides the male caught up to the feisty lady and wrapped his arm around her middle, pulling her backwards against him. "My, my. Aren't we in a hurry? Keen to get home, hey?" Pressing his lips to the shell of her ear, he chuckled and immediately let her go to walk nonchalantly along with her. "I've got a seat compartment you can fit Herbert in. I don't have helmets, so I'll take it easy, but we'll be home in no time." Scooting past all the shops, the duo quickly made their way out the mall and over to his bike again. Unlocking the compartment that was under the seat she'd sit on, there was just enough room for the bag to sit upright in, but only just. Allowing her to close the seat so she wouldn't feel like she was crushing or squishing her prized possession too much, he started his bike. "You hold tight now, we'll be home in no time. The hills up there? That's where we're heading." Revving the engine, Drayce felt power course through his veins. Flying along on his bike up winding hills roads made him feel as strong as if he was actually flying in his true form.

The second her arms were around his torso, Drayce was off. Straight away the wind whipped his hair off his face, his ponytail tucked away inside his shirt so that Aine wouldn't get whipped in the face by it. Taking the less popular back roads to get to the tourist route that lead up to the summit of the mountain ranges, Drayce kicked up the speed a little bit. It was a good fifteen minute ride, and as they hit the corners, the man began to enjoy himself a little, taking a few risks here and there, taking a few corners a little too fast, all in all just enjoying himself while keeping an ear out for anything Aine said - or shouted. Coming up to his exit that was hidden from sight, the man turned at the last second to really surprise Aine and made his way down an old sealed road that cut through a forest. The cool shade was a vast change from the slowly warming atmosphere as they drove along. It was the weirdest sensation; it usually got colder as you got higher, not warmer. By the time a glorious sea of rustic looking shacks came into sight, the weather around the small resort was like that of a warm spring day. Driving straight through the main road of the little resort, the man slowed down as he reached a privacy gate, and scanned his thumb. With a beep, the solid gates slid back to reveal his luxury chalet that was off-limits to the rest of the resort.

Parking his bike out the front, he slid himself off and offered to help Aine off - if she wanted him to help that was. With a pleased grin, he swept his arms around to show off his house. "Welcome home, firebird." He purred, looking to the compartment. Looking around, Drayce promptly put his hand onto the seat that was trapping Herbert. "I'd wait a second if I was you..." And counting down from three in his mind, a large wolf-like dog came bounding around the corner before stopping in it's tracks. "Darcy, this is Aine. She's a new friend." He cooed to his "puppy", who immediately went from looking protective, to positively overjoyed. Bounding over with a bark, he bounced around the woman, tail wagging a million miles a minute. The dog was smart enough not to jump up on anyone buy Drayce, and after satisfying his curious needs, did just that, trying desperately to lick his master's face. "Down Darcy, down." He chuckled, petting and rubbing the excited dog's fur. "This is my baby; Darcy. He's a Hellhound, wolf variety. This is his normal form, he has a much bigger and scarier form when he senses danger. He is the biggest idiot ever, but he's good company, and can track anything from anywhere. If you ever want to wander around the resort and see the hotsprings aside from our own personal one, if anything happens and something feels off, just whistle these three notes." Demonstrating the tune - low, high, low - the dog had run off to chase some birds, but hearing the whistle, he immediately froze on the spot, did a 180 turn and vanished in a puff of black. A puff of black materialised before the duo, a very pleased Darcy sitting in front of his master with a curious gaze. Giving his baby a big head rub which evolved into a belly scratch, Drayce grinned up at Aine.

"He's a very special dog. So! Would you like a tour then? Or shall we order you some belongings? We can grab some from the resort shop; it's just a tiny little thing stocked with the basics for the people that stay. Swim suits, basic clothing, junk that superstar guests and rich pricks like to buy." The "tiny shop" was really like a small department store behind the check-in area. The first few times some rich guests showed up and complained about the travelling time between his health spa resort and the town, the man had quickly built the small outlet to shut the complainers up. It had all the typical holiday things; souvenirs, swimwear, sleepwear, toiletries and an outlet fashion section. It was just an extra way for the man to make some sneaky cash, but the guests liked it. So what harm was there in having it? If he wanted to pilfer some items for Aine for the time being, then to hell with everything. "It's your choice firebird, there's no work today so we can just bum around and get used to living with each other." Whatever she wanted to do, it would be a vast chance from his boring as hell routine anyway. Standing up before she could answer though, he quickly unlocked the compartment on his motorbike and Darcy immediately went to sniff it. "Hey! No." Came the quick scalding, the dog looking confused. "Show him Herbert, and tell him it's not to touch. He may be stupid, but he's not so dumb to understand when something is off limits." Chuckling, Darcy was quite intelligent, but he had a very stereotypical "dopey dog" persona.

Normally she'd make him carry her bags, and she would from now on. But Aine wouldn't trust anyone with Herbert and held the bag protectively against her as she sauntered off, only pausing when she felt his arm go around her. Being pulled up against him, she tipped her head back to look up at him with a faint smirk on her lips. His breath against her ear sent shivers up her spine, though she didn't make any physical hint of it, and laughed a bit at the mention of helmets. They were both immortal - who needed them? Besides, it made it all the more fun, in her opinion. Aine was happy to find out about the compartment and tucked the bag in there carefully, shutting the seat with a bit of a twinge of guilt. It just didn't seem fair, stuffing poor Herbert in there, but it was better in the long run, she knew. While he got onto the bike, the phoenix swiftly french-braided her hair down her back to keep it from blowing around and knotting before she swung her legs over the seat and straddled it. Her arms went around his chest and they were off. Once they were going fast she laughed in delight, her chin resting on his shoulder as they flew down the road, the wind whipping around them. It was incredible and she couldn't be happier at the moment, the sensation of flying like this amazing. She had never been on a motorcycle before and immediately loved it, deciding he was going to take her riding quite a lot.

The phoenix hardly cared about the risks he was taking, laughing instead of saying a word or yelling at him. She merely went with the motion of the bike and rider. When he abruptly turned her eyes went wide and she relaxed rather than growing stiff or shrieking in terror. The ride hadn't lasted nearly long enough, in her opinion, and she took a deep breath as the air grew warmer and humid the higher they went. The last time she had felt something similar was when she had gone swimming in a volcano centuries ago and her eyes closed briefly as she remembered the moment. Oh, it had been glorious - such heat, the fire surrounding her like when she was in her egg, consuming her whole. Her eyes quickly opened as he slowed down, not wanting to miss a thing, and took in the sights with a curious gaze as he stopped at the gate to scan his thumb. Aine wasn't very well acquainted with technology, especially the newer things like that, and made a mental note to have him explain it. Not ask him - make him. As if there was little to expect other than he would do as she said. Well, he would, after all, she thought in amusement, a smile on her lips. Her chin was still on his shoulder, despite the fact they weren't going very fast at all, and she didn't sit back from him until they had parked.

"That was glorious. We have to do that again," Aine decided, as he got off and let him help her to her feet. She hardly needed it, but he was supposed to help her and she was used to men bending over backwards for her. Drayce was going to be no different, she was sure of it. Though there was something about him that made her think he would be a challenge, just as she was one to him, and that excited her. It would make things interesting, maybe even fun, and she'd been so bored lately. Of course, life with a spectral dragon would be perfect, Aine was sure of it. They were both beautiful, outgoing, self-centered and determined to enjoy wealth. They were perfectly suited to one another and both being essentially immortal made them ideal. As mates, of course, but that wasn't the reason he had bought her, nor the reason she had gone with her. The female had no intentions of settling down and wondered if Drayce would be the jealous sort if she had a few lovers of her own once she settled down. Hmm...that might be fun, she mused, thinking over it. The thoughts strayed from her mind as she returned to the present, blinking when the massive dog appeared from the corner and bounded towards them. She braced herself for impact, relieved when he stopped and simply bounced around her like an overgrown puppy.

Laughing a bit, she always liked animals, Aine let him sniff her and her hands and patted him on the head. "Aren't you a handsome boy," she cooed, laughing again as he jumped up on Drayce. "You could have warned me he was a hellhound, but somehow I suspected you wouldn't have a regular dog," she remarked in amusement, hand on her hip as she watched both goofy males fawn over each other. It was funny as hell to see Drayce all gooey over the massive thing, and equally funny to see a hellhound act so dopey and silly. Oh yes. She was going to like this place. When Drayce instructed her how to call the hound, and then about how to introduce Herbert, she nodded. Twisting around, she opened the seat and pulled Herbert from the bag. Darcy's ears immediately perked up and she held out her free hand to stop him from licking or doing anything else to her beloved platypus. "This isn't for you. This is Herbert, and Herbert is mine. Be nice and don't touch him," Aine said, firmly but not nastily, as she held the platypus out slowly to the hellhound. She was just a bit tense, afraid it would be snatched from her and chewed up, but Darcy just wagged his tail - his whole body, really - happily and sniffed over Herbert curiously. Satisfied, he sat down and she smiled, petting his head as a reward. "You're such a good boy! Smart doggy," she added with a smile, obviously relieved. Looking over to Drayce, she straightened up, Herbert tucked under her arm. "Are you going to show me my home? I can get clothing later," Aine told him imperiously, clearly expecting him to give her a tour.

There were just so many things about Aine that boosted his ego. While he didn't often show his reactions to compliments or anything directed at him, there was a definite air of pride about him after they arrived home. Aine had liked the motorbike ride and had even asked to go out again. Now that he'd be happy to do, especially since the area closer to the summit was virtually forgotten to anyone but himself. Plus the man simply loved to go hard and fast on his bike, so knowing that she enjoyed the ride was a big positive in his books. The next huge tick in his book was the fact that she seemed to adore Darcy. Sure the mutt was your typical dopey dog, but he was the most loyal being the man had ever encountered in his life. Especially since the man's trust was hard to earn these days, what with the whole hiding from his family business. Keeping an eye on Darcy as Aine followed his instructions, the man was hovering nearby as a just in case. He saw the way his baby's ears had perked up at the sound of a bag opening, but in the dog's own calm fashion he began to wag his tail, which turned into his whole body shaking back and forth. Sniffing the toy, obviously noting just how deep the woman's scent had permeated the well-loved toy.

Slowly turning his eyes back to his fiery haired beauty, Drayce blinked a little before smiling lazily. "Of course~ I can just send one of the resort girls over with a welcoming package if you're in need of clothes. I reckon I could take a damn good guess at your sizing." Winking at the woman, he rolled his bike over to shelter under the porch of his home, covering it with a silvery cover. Unlocking the wooden doors, he swung them open to reveal the rustic style entrance hall, the large and very luxurious living room immediately noticeable. Leading his lady inside, Darcy followed them in and trotted along calmly, more interested in Aine's own scent than the stuffed toy being cradled so lovingly in her arms.

The tour wasn't too long, but since the house was so large and open, it was relatively easy to navigate through. Nearly the entire lower floor was connected by large and beautifully crafted wood archways, and it was very easy to point out rooms and describe them. It was the second floor that would be more interesting though. Leading his phoenix upstairs, Drayce began to point out the rooms, spending a little bit of time in the library and music room so she could appreciate them. Pointing out where the main bathroom of the house was - the one that Aine could call her own if she so wished, he took her to the room that was now hers. "This, my lady, is your room. You can decorate it however you see fit, just let me know when you want to look for something and we'll go have a bit of an adventure." Leaving her room, there was only one room they hadn't been in, and it's door remained shut - Drayce's room. Looking to the door, he knew Aine would want to see it, if her nature was anything like his own, and reluctantly, he opened the door and showed her just a sliver of what was inside. "Like most people... I don't like others going into my room without permission. It's my space, and I'd really prefer it if you didn't just barge into it. Not to say that I might not invite you in at some point." With a wink, Drayce shut the door and made his way downstairs with a swagger in his step. Oh he was being cheeky alright.

"Oh! I do have another point I'd like to make if you'd follow me, pretty firebird." He cooed up the stairs, hoping to get her to follow. It took a moment, but as he was settling himself down in the entertaining room - the family room had been split in half to accommodate his luxury tastes - he watched Aine wander in. "I have a handful of workers that work over in the resort area. They generally don't come over here, I just get a call if they need me. But if you need anything while I'm not here, some of the girls will help you out. It's quite okay to go talk to them all; there's three female and three male massage and reflexology experts, two day spa girls, two male bartenders and just general resort staff. Feel free to take advantage of the services too, just if you're going to wander over there let me know just in case; if they're all booked out then my pretty bird can't be pampered." Stretching out over the couch, Drayce folded his arms behind his head and shut his eyes, a smirk on his face. "Just watch out, a few of the girls over there have taken a shine to me and make it very obvious... But I know you're better than they are." Chuckling to himself, Drayce wondered if Aine was the type of girl to fight for someone, sit back and just accept it, or get overly jealous and publicly show everyone that her property was hers. Admittedly, that was what Drayce did - cling to some woman to show people that she was his - but it was interesting to see what Aine would do in that aspect.

"What do you want to do, Aine? Tell me what you want, baby girl." Happy on his spot stretched over the large lounge, Drayce was actually quite keen for the woman to suggest anything. He bought her so he'd have entertainment in his house. Sure the staff in the resort were fun to torment, especially since none of them were human, but there was something far more appealing about having the entertainment right there in your home. Especially when said entertainment had such a lovely appeal to it, and was damn easy on the eyes too. Darcy, unlike his master, was more content with sniffing around Aine and getting used to her scent, wandering to and fro between the lazy dragon on the couch and the new best friend in the house, his fluffy tail wagging gently back and forth.

As they went inside the house and he began to show her around, she smirked when she saw how nice it was. Not that she had expected anything else, honestly, and would have been insulted if he had given her anything less than the finest luxury items. Her hips swayed as she strode after him, the heels of her boots clicking softly on the polished wooden floors, with Herbert still tucked safely in her arms. Well, one arm, as her other hand was busy petting Darcy on the head whenever he came by, wagging his tail and looking up at her happily. She was more than pleased that the hellhound liked her, since he was goofy and pleasant enough, and she didn't mind a dog in the least little bit. It was easy enough to see the house, since the layout was so simple, and she frowned as she was shown her own room. "Well, it certainly isn't up to my standards, but it will be easy enough to fix that," she remarked. Her smirk returned when he said she could do as she pleased with it, although it wasn't as if he really had a choice with what the phoenix wanted to do. Her eyebrow raised as he let her peek into the room and nodded when he said it was his room. Oh, she was nosy and spoiled and selfish, but she could understand the need for one's own space, so she didn't plan on really disturbing that.

It was easy enough to get her to follow him up the stairs, as Aine wanted to see the rest of 'her' house. She raised an eyebrow as he settled himself down and put a hand on her hip as she watched him while he spoke. When he told her about being pampered and that she could do as she pleased, she smirked. "Good doggy," she murmured, petting Darcy with her other hand when he came back over to her, tail wagging like it had been since they'd arrived. At the mention of the girls being jealous, she snorted and tossed her head. "Of course I'm better than them," she said curtly. "So they had just better realize that and save themselves the trouble, because you're mine, not theirs." With that curt statement, she tossed her head again and set Herbert down safely on a bookcase out of Darcy's reach for the moment before strutting back over to him. She shed her coat, putting it on the back of a chair carelessly, and flicked her hair over her shoulder. "You are a lazy dragon," she scolded him, her hip jutting out as she set a hand on it for the third time, a usual gesture for her when she was standing to accentuate her curves. Why have them if she wasn't going to put them on display, after all?

Huffing that he wasn't going to make any effort to entertain her, the phoenix flopped down onto his stomach, sitting on him and looking sideways at him. "So, are you going to go down to see those girls when I'm busy with something else?" she asked archly, clearly insinuating he was with them. "And I should say I don't want any other woman in the house when I am. Or when I'm not here, either, because when I'm not here, it should be because you're taking me somewhere," she continued matter-of-factly, crossing her arms under her breasts. "So you'd better not think I'm going to just sit around while you pamper some other woman, because I'm here and you don't need another woman." It wasn't as if a human woman could compare to a phoenix and she had no plan to go about competing for his attention if he thought to play her off against another woman for his own satisfaction and stroking his ego. It was obvious Aine believed she was entitled to such treatment and had no qualms about telling the dragon he wasn't going to take some girl as a plaything, because that's what she was there for. If he wanted someone in his bed, he could go get a hotel room and bring some skank there. Not that the phoenix hadn't played with men and women on her own in years before. She was plenty adventurous in and out of the sheets, but wasn't going to just jump into his. Aine wasn't a pleasure slave and if he wanted those sorts of things, he could damn well work for it.

She was satisfied with covering all that and stretched a bit, scratching Darcy on the head as she sat on Drayce without a hint of remorse. It wasn't as if she was too heavy or was crushing him anyway. "What do I want to do...I want to see these hot springs you lured me here with," Aine told him, raising an eyebrow at him as her fingernails scratched behind the hellhound's ears. "So, come on. Stop laying around like a lump and get to it. And no, I don't need a bathing suit," she added, getting off of him with a wicked grin over her shoulder.

                  SPLASH!!

Two figures, fully clothed, ended up in the hot springs. After Aine has expressed clear distaste at the male simply relaxing in his own house (seriously, he'd just wanted to sit down for a mere moment, god), she'd blatantly asked him if he would go visit other women (to which he shook his head and replied with a cheeky "only if you piss me off") and then proceeded to lecture him about not bringing women home. Staring at this red-head, utterly stunned, it took the male a moment before he finally gave her an answer. "I will only bring another woman into this house if you bring a man here. If I find you've brought men back here while I've been out, or I'm busy, I will do the same. Tit for tat, pretty firebird. This isn't a one-way street." Looking stren for a moment while a few wispy threads of smoke unfurled from his nostrils, he looked at the woman on his stomach as she finally answered his question. The hot springs was a good idea, especially if she didn't need a bathing suit. So, like any good man who didn't feel remorse for his actions, he had put down his drink without a word and picked her up princess style. Stopping by a countertop on the way out the house, Drayce placed the phoenix on it's surface, stepping to stand between her legs while pulling her close to him by her hips.

"What you do, I do, firebird. So don't give me reason to find fault with you. I do not like to get angry." Getting close up to her face while stroking her cheek with a hand that left her hip, he twirled some of her long hair around his fingers. "Better satisfy my birds wishes and take her to the springs then." With those final whispered words, the hand that had been playing with her hair lifted her chin to make him look her in the eyes. While the dragon had been ever so tempted to kiss his little bird at that point just to see her reaction, he decided to crudely pick her back up and throw her over his shoulder. Running out the house with a cheery and hearty laugh, Darcy went bouncing out with them, barking and jumping around. Mere moments before they got to his private springs, Drayce re-positioned Aine to hold her close before falling backwards into the water. Surfacing with a laugh, the long haired man looked around for his firebird.

"Oh my little bird, you look just as good wet as you do dry!" Taking up her hand before she could protest, he pulled her close and hugged her to him. "Oh Aine, I've been dishonest about bringing you here..." Smiling at the wet woman, he drifted around the spring lazily, walking backwards while holding the woman to him. "I need a female companion to live with me, in case my family comes spying. With a phoenix living here, they won't be able to sense me, especially with these hot springs. You see, some s**t went down, I fled, I've been hiding for a number of centuries... And if they try and track me down, s**t will hit the fan." Pushing some of Aine's wet hair of her face, he gave a lopsided grin. "I also have a rather pissed off woman that's most likely been looking for me for the same amount of time, and I'd rather her not find me." Giving the woman a squeeze, he chuckled once more.

"Honestly though, if I hadn't found you, I probably would have just dealt with it." Shrugging, he stopped once his back hit the rocks behind him and hoisted Aine onto his hips with the aid of his hands under her thighs. "But I couldn't leave you there. Not someone like you. You need to be out so everyone can see you, so everyone can enjoy your beauty." Did he want to admit that he was honestly scared of his parents or his ex-fiancee coming to find him? Not really. He didn't know Aine well enough yet to tell her his whole background, let alone come straight out and admit he'd run away from his family because they were forcing him to wed. It sounded cowardly in his head, but after what had happened the last time he'd wanted to marry, could you blame him? Sitting in silence with Aine, Drayce let down his negative vibe and ran his hands up and down the woman's sides. "Your clothes will be fine, by the way. The springs are pure, the most that will happen is they will get cleaned beyond clean." Hearing some barks here and there, Drayce kicked some water towards Darcy, who started running in circles nearby, clearly displeased with being splashed at. Grabbing Aine's arms suddenly, he gently pulled her close into him with a slight smirk on his eyes. While his features seemed cheerful, his eyes lacked any positive fire behind them; in fact, they'd been lacking that kind of 'spark' the whole time. Happiness just didn't live in Drayce at the moment, even if he could appear happy. Pulling Aine right in, he leaned in and stole a kiss from the phoenix before moving back to replace her lips with a smirk. "Sweet and spicy, I like it."

The look on his face at being lectured by her was glorious. Honestly, Aine was rather surprised he let her do it at all, much less get away with it, and smirked when she was finished. Oh yes, he was definitely going to learn his place if he wanted his pretty firebird to be happy. The 'tit for tat' thing amused the hell out of her, mostly because she planned to try to sneak someone in just to see his reaction. Would he get jealous? Possessive? Or simply go out and get a woman to spite her? Oh, this was going to be fun, pushing his buttons and seeing what she could get away with, she thought in private satisfaction. Aine was quickly distracted when he scooped her up and set her down on the countertop. She merely tossed her head when he warned her not to make him angry, clearly dismissing him as a non-threat, and then eyed him when he moved in so close. Was he going to kiss her? Instead he flung her over his shoulder in a manner more than undignified and she yelled at him in protest, not that he paid her the slightest bit of attention, the b*****d. Attempting to kick him in the head didn't get her anywhere either, she thought in irritation.

Being flung into the water didn't bother her so much as the lack of warning. The phoenix was sputtering in protest, though she was hardly going to climb out of the blissful waters. Rather, she felt like she could melt in them and grew quiet while he moved her around with him, explaining himself. The fact he was using her presence to mask him from other dragons surprised her, though the fact he was hiding - not so much. He seemed as if he had something to hide, after all, and there was more to the story than he was telling her. But she doubted it affected her at all anyway and she wasn't particularly interested in the moment. Instead she was watching him, looking for any signs of enjoyment as he tormented her as he had, but there was none. Even when he stole a kiss from her, his eyes were flat rather than sparkling with the mischief or enjoyment she had expected to see. "And you taste like sulfur, maybe you should brush your teeth before you go kissing me again," she suggested sweetly, giving him a smirk of her own.

Not about to be outdone, Aine leaned forward and kissed him, a hard thing that pressed his head back. She was gone as quick as she had started, moving off of his lap and going over to the edge, where Darcy was waiting expectantly. "I'm not getting out, silly dog," she remarked in amusement. "And of course I'm not worried about my clothing, you can just buy me more," the phoenix added over her shoulder matter-of-factly, addressing his earlier comment as she pulled her shoes off and put them on the ground. The rest of her outfit soon followed and in moments the shameless firebird was completely nude and sinking back in the hot water with a blissful sort of sigh. "This is marvelous," she purred, honestly happy at that moment. Her magic was back, she was in a hot spring - one of her natural environments - and she was being spoiled. If there was a volcano nearby, she would have been in heaven.

She floated back in Drayce's general direction, her eyes closed. And while she was showing off somewhat - what was the point in being pretty if she didn't, she reasoned - that wasn't her intention this time. No, she just wanted to get as close to the heat as possible. And if she trusted him, she would have shifted. Hot water didn't hurt a firebird. But there was no way she was showing him her true form and instead settled for soaking in the hot water, her hair floating around her like she was some mermaid rather than the phoenix she was.

Happiness. It just wasn't a face that suited Drayce these days. While he could fake the happy smiles and convincing laughter, there was just no fire in the dragons eyes to suggest that he had felt happiness for a very long time. He knew he could feel amusement, and at times he even felt contentment. But joy? No. Happiness? Nada. Rage though was something he felt often, and anger. In fact, it was mostly negative or neutral emotions that plagued the creatures mind, even now with Aine in front of him taunting him about 'sulfur breath' all he could do was snort in false amusement and smirk back. While anyone else would never have noticed Drayce's lack of motivation for anything, he overlooked the fact that Aine could probably see more in him than anyone else (besides Darcy) and would see through his facades. What the man hadn't been expecting was to be taken by surprise, a feeling that had evaded him even longer than happiness. Head pushed backwards as soft lips were forced against his, Drayce just stared at the red-haired raven as she moved to the edge of the hot spring, Darcy patiently waiting by the edge, clearly under the impression that Aine was going to get out the water.

One could almost see the smile fall from the hellhounds face when he realised that the woman would not be getting out the spring to play with him. Instead, Darcy settled for lying close to the woman's discarded dress, his radiating heat slowly drying her outfit. The spring water was completely pure, so it wouldn't fade or shrink, or go a funny smell. Drayce just rolled his eyes and leaned back against the hot rocks under the waterline, watching Aine indulge in the warmth. This spring was indeed hotter than the others around the chalet, but Drayce was yet to figure out why. He was nowhere near an active volcano (or so he was pretty sure), and he wasn't that close to where the main hub of the hot springs were. Maybe it was just luck he managed to get the hottest springs in the grouping... Regardless, it seemed like his Phoenix was more than happy.

Watching her float around in her sudden state of nudity (she admittedly had warned him that 'skinny dipping' wasn't a problem), Drayce was reminded of a mermaid; the way Aine's hair floated around her form and the simplistic way she floated around didn't really seem befitting to a firebird. While he did stare, it wasn't in a sleazy manner, his half-lidded eyes just watching the red head enjoy herself. It was nice to have someone appreciate his hot springs as much as he did. His hellhound was happily asleep by Aine's dress, the fluffy beast now on his side, stretched fully out next to the article of clothing. Getting bored with the quiet, Drayce finally removed his wet articles of clothing, the black cotton boxers remaining on for modesty reasons (he was a gentleman after all) he began to drift around the water with Aine. Gently running a hand down the length of her back - from the back of her neck to the shapely start of her rear - he left it at that for a moment. Next was a hand from her ankle to her high inner thigh. Just little things to grab her attention in the silence. Standing behind Aine in the end, he placed his hands gently on her shoulders before sliding underneath to her back to lift her up and against him.

Doing slow laps around the spring, carefully walking backwards so he didn't trip and dunk them both underwater, Drayce let his hands do what they wanted. A grope here, a pinch there, a good few cupping of things as well. While it did break the boredom, Drayce still didn't feel any form of real amusement. Yes he liked the way Aine felt, he appreciated that she was attractive, but he just couldn't feel anything positive. So instead, he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close against him, burying his face in her wet hair. He didn't trust women, to be honest. He trusted men even less. But while his strong arms held Aine against him, he reasoned she couldn't surprise him or do real harm. For the moment, he showed his weaker side - his vulnerable side that really just needed someone to show him what happiness really was. The moment was gone pretty quick though, because arms tightened around the womans waist and lips met her ear. "Are you sure you're not a mermaid? I've never seen a bird like you take to water so well, without being at least part swan or duck." Chuckling - at least it was a proper chuckle for once - he continued his playful teasing. "I bet you're quite tempting to most males and can sing beautifully, so I guess a Phoenix isn't too different to a Mermaid after all." Squeezing her hips, Drayce kept her against him, the warmth quite refreshing. Humans just didn't have such a nice body heat, and it was good to have another hot-blooded creature with him.

Aine had been with enough men to know when they wanted something and when they didn't. Although Drayce was playing with her, teasing her, she didn't respond, simply humming a bit. The touches actually felt good, as he wasn't pushing for anything she didn't feel like at the moment, and Aine basked in the moment of someone paying attention to her and admiring her. She was sure that was what he was doing, as even she could feel the lack of any real desire - experience had plenty to do with it. As he picked her up to pull her against him, moving around in the water, her eyes opened a bit to watch him as his hands wandered over her body. If it was someone with desire in their eyes, the phoenix might have responded more to the touches and the teasing, maybe returning the favor. But it was obvious that he wasn't doing it for that reason - why he was, then, she had no idea. Perhaps because it was something to do. It did feel nice, however, and she let herself go limp in his grip while he tugged her around with him. Maybe at some point she could convince him to go to a volcano and let her go swimming in it, she thought absently.

As he suddenly wrapped his arms around her, his face in her hair, her eyes widened a bit. It was a possessive feeling. For a brief moment, quicker than a heartbeat, she felt something she hadn't expected to feel from the man - vulnerability. Sadness. Longing for something more than just sex and fun. It was gone before Aine could really react and she tucked it away to ponder it. While she was selfish, spoiled and lazy, she certainly wasn't heartless and as long as Drayce treated her in a fashion she considered 'right', she would do the same. And that meant being kind, or at least as kind as she could manage. Then he began to tease her about being a swan - a duck was so much worse - the phoenix made a face and turned around so she could tilt her head back and look up at him. "You're a horrid man! Do I look like I'm a duck to you?" she demanded indignantly, though not trying to push away. Really, she knew he was just teasing; but there were some things she couldn't let slide.

                                            A duck.

"Maybe I'll start comparing you to a little gecko, dragon mine," she replied. Her tone was snarky, but there was a clear possessive tone in it as well. She was making it clear she considered him hers and he had better well not forget that, lest Aine decide to make his life a living hell. Her gaze saw Darcy out of the corner of her eye and she couldn't help but chuckle a bit, seeing him sleeping next to, and partially on, her clothing. It seemed the hellhound had taken a liking to her - and why not? "I'm hungry. Feed me," Aine ordered, looking up at him expectantly. As if she was supposed to feed herself - oh no. She was his and that was his responsibility, so he could just go about making something good. Or ordering it - as long as it was tasty, she didn't particularly care. She ignored the singing remark, as no one had ever compared her to a mermaid before in her life, much less something that could sing. If she could, she didn't know about, having never really tried.

For the first time in a long time, Drayce laughed. Not a hollow, just-for-show laugh, but a proper laugh. It was a short one, and it made his stomach feel mighty uncomfortable afterwards, but he tried not to let it show just how unsettled it had made him. The laugh was thanks to Aine comparing him to a gecko. Frankly, it wasn't something he found offensive, he quite liked geckos and found them funny to watch, especially the way they licked their eyes to keep them clean. Honestly the life of a gecko would have been much more preferable to the dragon - easier to hide, you get those funky toe pads to climb up walls - but he would have missed breathing fire quite drastically. Instead, he began to notice the possessive tone in her voice, the sound of ownership already meshed within her lyrical voice. Drayce didn't know what to make of that. He was used to being the possessive creature, not having someone take ownership of him. The male liked his freedom and found it hard to be claimed. Especially since.. Shutting his eyes and taking in Aine's scent to change his thought pattern, but her demand to be fed worked easily as well. Looking blankly up at the roof that shielded his hot spring from the elements, Drayce didn't answer right away. The demand, again, set a ripple of unease through his body, but he didn't let it show. Instead, he pushed Aine gently away from him to float her along the surface of the hot spring and just shrugged when she looked at him with that expectant gaze.

"Alright. I'll order food, then I'm going to shower. You'll have to amuse yourself for the moment. Either stay here or bathe, I don't care." There was no boredom or dislike in his words, they were simply nothing but blunt, to the point words. His face was relaxed, his eyes blank. While he was mildly pleased to not be alone, he was also a being that found it hard to experience happiness in it's truest form. Drayce had become skilled in fooling others, giving them the illusion he was happy and content, the reality was that Drayce just did not care. Oh, he cared for himself, but happiness was something he didn't care for. Positive emotions were painful and foreign to him these days. Looking to Darcy who was wagging his fluffy tail while still on his side, Drayce managed a slight half smile and an amused snort. "Darcy, keep an eye on Aine. You know what to do if a stranger shows their face." Getting a proud 'wuff' in reply, the hellhound got to his feet and began to prance and pace at the edge of the hot spring, watching Aine and wondering what she'd do. Grabbing his damp clothes, Drayce headed inside.

Clothes dumped in the laundry, the male headed to his room and locked the door. He didn't want Aine coming in and demanding attention, even thought it would break up the monotony of his life. No, this was his sanctuary, and god help anyone that invaded it. Picking up his phone, he called the resort restaurant and ordered some salads, a risotto entree, scallops for appetisers and seabass for main. Vegetables and a surprise dessert were also ordered and the male hung up. She wanted food, she could have food. It was getting close to dinner time even though the sun was still up in the sky. They'd sit and watch the sunset, enjoying the light before the temperature dropped once it got dark. Stripping off his wet cotton boxers, the male ran himself a shower and just stood in the hot water, letting it run over his head and down his body. Drayce didn't really need a shower, the hot spring water was quite clean and was better for his skin than the water he was showering in, but he needed a reason to get away. He needed to find himself. This woman, this powerful woman who had claimed him just as he claimed her was going to throw his whole world out of sync. It was what he needed, but he was afraid at the same time. Finishing in the shower and re-dressing in an outfit that was almost identical to his last one (he wore black jeans instead of dark blue, major difference), he made his way downstairs and sat in the entertaining room. If Aine wanted to come find him, then so be it. Until then, he'd just kick back and chill out with his thoughts.

For a moment she thought he was cranky at her order, but then dismissed that. No, he was just looking at her with that blank expression that she thought might begin to annoy her if he kept it up. She wasn't some human to act as if he cared for nothing, after all. Satisfied he was going to do as she said, Aine stretched out in the water, reluctant to leave for the moment. She watched him climb out of the springs with lidded eyes, admittedly enjoying the sight of the nearly-naked dragon dripping as he walked back to the house with his clothes in hand. Anyone would, after all. The sight of the hellhound pacing around the pool and looking at her expectantly made her laugh a bit, which was odd. The only thing that made her laugh in decades was Herbert, awaiting her return on the bookcase, overlooking all like some omnipotent platypus deity. Because of course she hadn't forgotten about her beloved platypus, that had proven impossible since she'd had him.

"Oh, all right. Just because you look so pathetic," Aine was sure to add, rolling her eyes as the big dog dropped onto his stomach and looked at her as if he was going to die without her. Climbing out of the spring easily, she stretched out lazily and considered shifting, just for a moment, to feel the fire and heat surrounding her core once again. But this was a new place and potentially dangerous - she was even more vulnerable as a firebird than she was in her human form and she hadn't taken up her wings in...a very long time. Sighing, she petted Darcy on the head when he came up to her. The phoenix was already dry, steam rising slightly from her skin as the water simply evaporated. Her body temperature was naturally very high, a thing few people considered, but she could control it for the comfort of others. When she felt like it. Drayce didn't seem as if he would mind, so she considered not bothering to lower it unless he complained about it. Hardly ashamed of her body, or anything else, Aine bent to pick up her clothing and then sauntered back to the house as well, a panting hellhound on her heels as he danced around her happily. "Did you think I was going to leave?" she asked in amusement as she went inside, looking down at him. He seemed so damn happy that she'd come back in the house and that was odd for Aine. Something actually cared about where she was. Well, she supposed Drayce did, but he was hardly going to act so happy about it. Crouching down, the firebird hugged the big hellhound tightly, beginning to feel the same affection for him as she did for her beloved platypus. He licked her head and she groaned, straightening and heading up to her room.

There was no desire to rinse off and Aine went over to the bag that had her clothing in it. She'd dropped it onto the bed and looked it over before snorting. No, she wasn't going to wear it again. It was what she'd had to wear in the slave shop and wasn't...right now. With a flick of her wrist, the outfit went up in flames, not even ash lingering on the bedsheet that was still pristine despite the fire that had just occurred. Pleased to see she could use her magic back, the female hummed to herself as she pulled out the other things she'd bought at the store - something to lounge around the house in and be comfortable until she went shopping. Most women would have bought a nightgown, pajamas, something more...normal. Not the phoenix. She'd been more than pleased with the lace and silk lingerie set and the silk robe she'd found, the colors pretty to her. It wasn't as if she felt it necessary to cover herself up and she dressed, if one could call it that, before patting the waiting hellhound on the head again. "Shall we go find your master?" she asked in amusement. Of course, the spectral dragon was her master as well, but she was hardly going to refer to him as that. She owned him just as much, Aine thought in satisfaction as she followed the hellhound through the house, making a brief detour to return Herbert to her bed and shut the door.

Finding the dragon sprawled out on the couch, she snorted and sauntered up to him, flicking her hair over her shoulder as she raised her eyebrow at him. "You look comfortable," was all Aine said before dropping down on him and getting settled as well. His own heat was welcome and she laughed when Darcy padded over and sat down in front of her, dropping his big head on her thighs for pets. Obliging the hellhound almost happily, Aine turned her head to look down at the dragon. "I assume you ordered food and I hope it'll be here soon. I'm hungry and the food at the shop wasn't what I would call first-class cuisine," she remarked, wrinkling her nose a bit as she scratched Darcy's soft muzzle absently.

                  TIME SKIP; ONE WEEK LATER

The days that passed since Aine appeared in her satin robe and lace lingerie moved faster than Drayce had ever thought time could move. After living for so long alone, and for a long time in general, he never thought he'd experience time flying past like water through fingers. Time was usually measured by what high profile guest was arriving at the resort, or wondering why the cleaning lady took so long to get here, even though it was only a few day in between the last time the ladies came; the cleaners arrived every Wednesday and Sunday. But now, the days seems to flow seamlessly and quickly, the new lady of the house semi-taking over in her own way, something that Drayce allowed given she didn't touch his two rooms. He'd taken her shopping the moment they'd both arisen and were dressed, a car-ride down the hill to a rather pompous and clearly luxurious shopping district. While it was a bit of a boast about how much money he had, the Dragon knew that Aine wouldn't have settled for anything less than well-made clothing, articles that were made from real materials - none of the synthetic crap - would probably last longer with her higher than average body temperature. While shopping wasn't something Drayce particularly enjoyed, spending the day out with Aine was much easier than he'd thought it would be. She enjoyed the finer things, just like himself, and a part of him wondered if there was some dragon in her family genetics since she seemed to be quite attracted to gems and gold. Used to getting looks over his unnatural hair colour and choices of clothing that fitted his form very well, it had become unsettling over the course of the day out to be watched and stared at for being with a woman. While he tried his best to role with the situation with flirtatious touches and keeping an arm around the woman, by the time they'd returned home he'd gone and locked himself in his room for a good number of hours before emerging. The next few days passed with Drayce in a moody grump, but given the sudden arrival of a few new guests that needed his immediate attention, leaving Aine to do her own thing proved beneficial to the Dragon and he'd calmed down on the third evening of being a grumpy bum.

The following days leading up to the end of the week since Aine arrived went even quicker; plans to redecorate Aine's room to suit her tastes had been rather fun for the Dragon who enjoyed home renovation, and trips to the hot springs in the evenings were definitely relaxing, even if it often involved his pretty bird being less and less clothed each time - all on her own accord. Drayce didn't mind, nudity in his own species had been common and the naked human form didn't wow him, but he never appeared in anything less than cotton boxers. Letting the Phoenix float around him and allow him to steal some sneaky kisses and gropes was definitely relaxing, but no matter what happened or however many laughs were shared, there was always a hint that the man was holding something back, like he wasn't allowing the happiness to fully penetrate him. Like he wasn't allowing himself to truly relax and admit that the past was in the past. There was definitely something stopping him from being totally open and free. The male had also refused to step foot into his music room since the day Aine arrived. It wasn't like he wanted to play, he was dying to play his piano, lock himself in his music room and just play, but there was a deep fear that if Aine hear him play, she'd want to hear more, and then she'd invade his only other personal space in the house and that would be that. The Dragon would never admit that he was more scared that Aine would think of his hobby as a weakness and would use it against him, since he was too proud to admit he had any hint of musical talent, so he found it best to just ignore his urges for the time being.

Waking up Monday morning, Drayce stared at the ceiling of his room for a good half hour. The week had gone by too quickly to feel comfortable, and his dark flirtatious nature was slowly becoming more of a sullen, grumpy attitude. Change wasn't easy for someone of his lifespan, especially when he'd grown used to relocating anyone who made him uncomfortable or he got bored of, but Aine was different. Her attitude made her unique. A pain in the a** at times, but unique enough for Drayce to find himself constantly fascinated with her. The aura she provided was powerful and ancient, enough to disrupt his own scent and keep him hidden, but being around a powerful woman after avoiding one for so long just wasn't balancing the man out. With a groan he dragged himself into a hot shower and stood in it for long enough to contemplate life but not long enough to use up all the hot water. He needed to get out and about, to stretch out his form and, oddly enough, feel his body tear and pop as he changed forms. A trip to the ruins was probably going to be the best place for him to hide and change, or even the eastern springs. Dressing in his most casual outfit to date, he pulled his hair back into a messy ponytail, the majority of the deep lavender locks still brushing his lower back, and sprayed on a conservative amount of cologne. The man couldn't stand it when females were doused in crude floral perfume, so what was the point in overdoing it just to repel females? (He knew the brands he bought smelt good, so overdoing it just wasn't on the menu)

Heading downstairs to the kitchen, the coffee maker was switched on, and the gentle aroma of coffee began to fill the kitchen area. He wasn't much for cooking all the time, but breakfast was generally easy to do. Especially when you had a large array of gadgets to make life easier. This time though, the man went with simple; buttermilk pancakes accompanied with syrup, blueberries and thick cream. The stack of pancakes was enough to feed at least eight people, but Drayce just piled a decent tower onto his plate and poured syrup all over the top with a tumble of berries. Coffee mug was filled and cream was added instead of milk - no sugar - and the man settled himself down at the breakfast nook to eat. Aine would appear when she was ready, there was no point in rushing her since he was in no real hurry anyway. The weather was slowly starting to get an Autumn chill to it (not like his home town was exceptionally hot in summer anyway) so more people would start to arrive to watch the leaves in the mountain ranges change colour as they soaked in hot water that was rumoured to "cleanse and rejuvenate". The rumours weren't total bollocks, the waters did cleanse, but not in the whole 'detox' way health nuts wanted to believe. It was more spiritual cleansing than anything, and being there made you feel relaxed which often was most of the guests problem; stress was making them sick and he removed the stress. It wasn't until Aine was seated with her own breakfast that Drayce actually spoke. "So I was thinking that I should actually show you the ruins or the eastern springs. Both are up on the mountain. It's a bit of a walk if you can be bothered.." and there surfaced the moody Dragon that had been around most of the week ".. but if we take a basket, blanket and food then, I dunno, could make a day of it." While it still sounded like Drayce was being a right grumpy bum, there was thr smallest hint in his voice that he kind of cared about what Aine wanted to do, and if she wanted to really spend the day with him. It wasn't like it was a date, but it was still going to be just the two of them, at least until Drayce decided he wanted to fly about in dragon form.

b***h, b***h, b***h. She swore, if the man hadn't spent so much money on her and bought her so many nice things, she might have been tempted to just leave at the first sign of his grumpy attitude. Aine had no patience for behavior like that - what was the point, when they were immortal, to spend it all sulking? But he'd gone and hidden away in his room and she wasn't sure what was the cause of his pouting. She didn't think she had done anything while they were shopping and chalked it up to the fact that he was a man and men didn't enjoy shopping like women did. A stereotype, but true for the majority, she had found out over the years. It was no matter, there was plenty to occupy her and Darcy kept her enough company she wouldn't have been lonely even if she was inclined to the emotion. As it was, the phoenix spoiled herself silly while Drayce sulked; there were the spas, the springs, and she admitted she did enjoy flaunting herself to the guests that were there, if only to show herself off. There was nothing wrong with it when she was the one in control, she reasoned. It was when someone treated her like a pet and made her, that was when there was an issue. There was none of that in the chalet and it suited Aine just fine. Her new 'master's' attitude, not so much, but she took it in stride. If he was alone for as long as she guessed, then there would be some adjustment necessary to put up with her. Company wasn't bad, but he was used to being alone and didn't like having her crowd him, was her assumption. Aine was surprisingly astute when she was of the mind to think about others. The hellhound and redecorating her room often was enough of a distraction that she didn't much miss the dragon at all, never growing attached to anyone anyway - well, everyone except Herbert, who had his own little shelf in her room to oversee it all. Part of her would have dragged the platypus around when she went out, except she wasn't that childish. Besides, Herbert was hers and no one else could see him. That was that.

It was odd to be around a creature as old as she was, and as strong. Aine was used to having the upper hand in power, even with the damnable collar on, so Drayce was a bit of an unknown as to how to handle him. She settled for letting him be and that had seemed to work out so far. She itched to go out and shift, although she was worried about letting him see her in her phoenix form - she was still an adolescent, technically, and it was so embarrassing. The man was clearly unhappy, she had known that much since he walked into the door. It wasn't her job to change that - her job was to look pretty, be a distraction and suit herself to the rest. His attitude, however, was beginning to irritate her. What was there to be grumpy about? She was pretty, she was good conversation, Darcy liked her - she didn't go poking around his room like he'd asked her to, even, despite her nosy nature. Aine didn't see the problem he was having, other than not used to company, and it was easy for her to see that even when he smiled, his eyes were still distant. Someone was stuck in his past and for an immortal creature, she thought it was just plain stupid. They had far too much time to go mucking about in memories and 'what ifs'. If she did that, she wouldn't even get out of bed. She hadn't tried to tell the dragon any of that, having a feeling that her words wouldn't be welcome. It wasn't her problem in the end either, as long as he continued to spoil her like he had been. She'd just go find another companion if he kept locking himself away, that was all. The problem was easily solved, at least in her mind. Aine liked the dragon, but not enough to make herself miserable for him. He could have bought someone more pliable and emotional if that was what he wanted. As he hadn't, she continued to please herself.

She got to sleep in late and stay up as late as she wanted. He had no schedule, at least none that pertained to her, and so she could have slept all day if she wanted to. There was too much to do, however, and too many new things to explore for the phoenix to lounge in bed all day and be lazy. Besides, she enjoyed bothering Drayce, backing off when his buttons had been pushed a bit too far, but that was in her nature. The firebird enjoyed...not so much stirring up trouble as getting people riled. Having fun. Being grumpy was dull and dull was unacceptable. She enjoyed their swims in the springs, never minding her own nudity or his occasional wandering hands. Neither did much and Aine wasn't even sure if there was an attraction between them or not. He certainly seemed to view her as more of a distraction than anything else and part of her was displeased. She was used to getting attention from men, having them want her. There was no siren in her blood, but she could charm any man she wanted. Only she didn't want to with Drayce, she enjoyed being as incorrigible, selfish and rude as she wanted and having him not care in the least. He seemed to find it amusing, when he reacted at all, and she sometimes acted badly just to get a reaction out of him other than his grumpy, sulking self the last few days. She wanted fun.

So Aine was more than a little surprised when she sat herself down at the table with a bowl of fresh fruit and got an invitation to go out. The idea of it being a date never crossed her mind, but she did take note of the tone. He didn't really care much whether she went or not - but maybe he did, just a little bit. Her eyebrow rose slightly as she worked on some strawberries, thinking it over. If they did go to the ruins or springs, anywhere at all, she'd get the chance to explore more. Maybe shift. That all depended. It had been ages since she'd spread her wings. "Well, I don't really care which we go see, they both sound interesting to me," the phoenix told him with an elegant shrug of her shoulders. "I would like to go out and explore more, though. So if you're sure you don't want to go brood on your own in the woods, I'm happy to come along," Aine continued, her tone changing just a touch to teasing when she spoke of brooding. Drayce, she had found, was a wonderful broody. He had the dark, handsome looks to pull it off without looking pissy.

Aine was a right cheeky woman, wasn't she? Staring at the woman over the top of his coffee mug, he raised an eyebrow at her answer and teasing comment. Yes, he was quite broody, he could admit that. He had his reasons for being so broody, ones that he didn't want to share, not yet anyway. A week wasn't exactly long enough to get to know someone enough to start sharing deep dark broody secrets to each other. But, she wanted to go out and go along with him so that was a good start. "The woods aren't fun. Too flammable." Was his only reaction to her teasing comment, a sly grin slowly curling to his lips as he lowered the coffee mug, his chin coming to rest on the back of his hand as his elbow rested on the table. Staring at the woman for a moment through lidded eyes, he thought more about her wanting to go 'explore'. Well, the ruins were pretty self-explanatory, and so was the eastern hot spring. There was still one more location, one that was a bit more of a hike than anything, but the hike would be worth it. "If you want to explore, then I have a better location." Gathering up his dishes, and shockingly hers as well, something he wouldn't have done a week ago, he headed back to the stairs. "We've got a bit of a hike ahead. Wear comfortable shoes, pack a bag if you want a change of clothes - you'll definitely want to go swimming." While he was used to the woman going around in his own hot spring in nothing at all, the mountaintop springs were a little less private than his own, and given the tendency for other spa patrons to hike up that way it was a fair warning in his eyes.

His outfit was fine for the walk, comfortable navy faux leather boat shoes the final addition. Picking up his mobile, he dialled the number for the reception desk of his resort. Asking them to deliver a deluxe picnic package to his front gate, he shoved his phone in his pocket and made his way outside. There was little warning when a Darcy attack was impending, but Drayce always managed to catch the hellhound at the last minute and lessen the blow. Messing around with his beloved 'puppy' for a few moments, he crouched down and looked the excitable hound in the eyes. "We're going for a hike, okay? Stay here and guard the house, I'll call you if we need you, okay?" Ruffling his best friend's head, he got the goofiest doggy grin as an answer, and standing up, he fixed his eyes on Aine. He really had enjoyed her outfit she'd turned up to breakfast in - colourful, tasteful and the skirt wasn't restricting which was always fun - but the woman had a taste for the finer things and often dressed in very little which was more than fine in his eyes. Flicking his hair out his eyes, he tucked a few strands back behind his ear and slid a hand into his pocket. "Hope you're all set for a walk, Songbird. It's a beautiful walk, you'll appreciate it." Winking at the woman, he signalled for her to follow him out the front gates, picking up the waiting picnic basket from one of the resort workers. The female dropping off the basket was new, it was clear by her nervous demeanour at waiting by the bosses gate, and the flush on her face from the appreciative stroke of her cheek Drayce gave was almost enough to make the male laugh. Almost. He wasn't cruel enough to laugh in her face, but he definitely chuckled about it when further down the path, reaching out for Aine's waist to pull her against his hip.

"You're going to love this place, my precious bird." He cooed, giving her hip a squeeze before letting her go as they came to the trail that winded up the mountain. The forest wasn't the thickest, but it was definitely beautiful, an array of wildflowers blooming in the strange mountain climate; warm, but with a slight chill in the air that signalled winter was coming to an end. "Usually there would be snow at this time of year; you'll see it on the mountains over on the other range. But the hot springs that run all through this area keep the whole climate warmer than it should be by a few degrees. It does get cold in winter, but not enough to snow." As the path began to sharply incline, Drayce kept on his well-rehearsed tour guide speech about the area. "There's a number of hot springs on the mountain. Some are far too hot, even for our kind. You'd cook in the water before you knew what was happening. Great for boiling eggs or poaching whole pheasants by the way." Shrugging, he chuckled and continued pointing out a few things. "The ruins are down that path there. Judging by the runes, it wasn't more than a private area, a special spot for maybe a monarch's beloved, or a baron's mistress. But that's for another day." Leading her further up the path, the trail getting decidedly rougher and rockier, he pointed down to the other track. "That goes to the eastern springs. They're wide open, and much better for older patrons as they're easy to climb in and out of. Or for the odd guest that has to bring their child along, since those springs are slightly cooler than the others, being wide open and all. We can see them later." With his trademark Cheshire cat grin, Drayce fell silent for the last bit of the climb, the sun inching higher in the sky as it grew closer to lunch time as they reached a plateau. The train ended at a viewing platform, and without warning the male took a sharp turn and quickly descended down an unmarked stone staircase that looked more natural than created.

"Don't slip dear, the wind can often make the spray land on the rocks. Once you get down the bottom you'll be fine." Descending down into a large rocky basin, the air felt almost instantly humid. Steam rose from the water, the cool almost-spring air making the whole area almost like a natural sauna, the spray from the waterfall filling the air, the sounds of the moving water mixing with the calm sounds of nature. A wooden staircase off to the side and out the way of the water lead people to the top of the rocky outcrop with a view of the entire mountain range. Stopping on the grassy, mossy section before the main pool, Drayce put down the basket and put his hands on his hips. "Well, here you go, my dear. The best part of this whole area. It'll get warmer the deeper you go in the water, and the rocks guiding the waterfall are rather warm too. So! Eat first up on the rocks, or swim? I'm not fussed either way, I'll get you out of your clothes at some point today." With a playful wink, it was a little tricky to tell if Drayce was being serious or just playful, which was a bit of a surprise given his usual hidden thoughts. It was like being in this secluded area was a relief on his mind, but there was still that mental barrier that was refusing to come down. Taking his hair out of its ponytail, he quickly pulled the mass on top of his head to tie up out the way in a messy bun, bangs flopping over his face. "You're welcome to wander off when you want, by the way." Kicking off his shoes and rolling up the cuffs of his jeans, he stepped into the edge of the spring. "I told reception to ban any tours up here today, not like people walk up here at this time of year." He shrugged, closing his eyes as he spoke. "Figured you might want some time to fly." Looking up to the sky, the way his voice lingered on the word 'fly' hinted that he planned to do the same thing at some point, but he was being thoughtful enough to give her the chance to do the same thing. Again, another first for the day - Drayce was being thoughtful.

Well. She raised an eyebrow when he said that they could go exploring, and added for her to go change into more comfortable shoes. Smirking a bit and pleased that she was going to get her way. Aine patted him on the head dismissively before heading back to her room to quickly change. It wasn't so much that it would be uncomfortable for her to walk around in heels - she wasn't human and it certainly didn't apply to her - but he'd probably complain if she came back out in that. Snorting in amusement at the thought, the phoenix put on something more normal to walk around in, looking forward to the hike and curious as to where they were going, she pulled her hair up in a high ponytail and didn't bother with a change of clothing. He had mentioned swimming and she hardly cared if someone saw her, if there were other people around. Aine was hardly the modest sort of person and had nothing she wished to hide - except maybe her current phoenix form, still in the baby phase of her life. A bit disgruntled at that, as she had about twenty more years until she reached her adolescent phase, she tossed her head and jogged back to the main room, finding Drayce already outside waiting for her. Maybe he was actually eager to go out, which would be a nice change.

The nickname privately amused her and she snorted a bit as she ambled alongside him. Aine just gave a roll of her eyes when he teased the human girl, finding it a bit petty and more amusing than anything else, and let him pull her against him. At least he appreciated her, she thought smugly, feeling his hand briefly squeeze her hip. The dragon certainly seemed much more amiable today, as he cooed at her and talked, explaining things as they walked. She could tell it was a speech he had rehearsed probably a million times and just listened absently, perking up a bit at the mention of ruins. Those were sure to be interesting and she wouldn't mind going to see them as well, pleased when he said they were 'for another day'. That meant they had future plans that she could hold him to, which suited her just fine. If she was human and out of shape, the trail might have started to give her a hard time - as it was, the phoenix wasn't even breathing harder by the time he pointed out the trail to the eastern springs. The quiet didn't bother Aine and she looked around as they climbed up, enjoying the natural beauty around her. Just because she liked material things didn't mean she didn't appreciate nature - she was of nature, after all.

"As if I could lose my balance, don't insult me," she replied with a derisive snort, though her tone wasn't harsh in the least. If anything, it sounded like Aine wanted to laugh and was holding it back. Ignoring the dragon in front of her, her eyes widened when she saw the hot spring and she did her best to keep her reaction from growing too strongly and embarrassing her. She was hardly a baby, after all, but the sight of the hot springs reminded her of the volcano she had lived in at one point. Looking over at him when he teased about getting her out of her clothes, she smirked. He definitely wasn't as moody if he was back to having that attitude and she tossed her head, bending down to pull off her shoes. "Swimming," was the prompt reply and she wiggled out of her clothing in mere moments, leaving them in a messy pile where she stood before running and jumping into the spring. The water was much hotter, especially with the rocks being hot, and it felt marvelous to the phoenix. She didn't surface for a little while and came up with a gasp, smiling as she floated in the hot water. "This feels marvelous," the bird said happily, practically purring as she relaxed and melted into the water. She could hear nature around them, it being otherwise quiet, which didn't bother her in the least. At least there was no one else around and she could certainly appreciate that, not wanting to be bothered by anyone.

After her fingers were turning wrinkled and pruny, Aine stood up and stretched her arms out, the water coming up to her hips. As she did, the wind whipped around her, her figure transforming as she shifted first to her half-form, crimson wings replacing her arms and feathers growing in her hair. It only lasted for a few minutes before she completed the transformation and circled high into the sky with a shrill cry, flames trailing after her, her glorious feathers golden and crimson and hot as lava. The phoenix was small and slightly fluffy, still having her baby pinfeathers, and it would do Drayce well to not remark upon her less-than awe-inspiring figure. As it was, she was too happy to get to fly again and went high enough to only be a speck before falling back to earth and settling briefly on one of the rocks, spreading her wings and preening in a very Aine-like gesture.
