It had been a long while since Samael felt the rough bark of a tree beneath his claws. He'd gone out of his way for that specific feeling today, eager for a bit of adventure, and even more excited to get away from home. Swishing his rump, he shoved off the ground and took a flying leap onto the trunk of a tree large enough to support him. Latching his claws into the wooden surface, he pulled himself up until he could perch comfortably on a branch. He let out a contented huff as he needed his claws into the thick branch.
A crackle to the side caught his attention, drawing him from his moment of satisfaction. Sam's sharp gaze swiveled toward the sound, and he curiously peeked through the greenery. Through the branches, he spotted a yellow-ish green dragon, dragging some limp creature across the ground. Ah, it must've just finished hunting. And what better time to attack than when the dragon had just tired itself from hunting for a meal?
Samael grinned to himself, excitement coursing through his veins. Oh, this would be great. Never mind that he'd never attacked a dragon before, let alone fought one and won. But this one would be so distracted by its recent kill, that Sam would have no trouble at all. A rumbling chuckle left his throat, and he hopped from the tree, fanning his wings to glide silently to the ground.
He picked his way across the greenery, careful not to step on any stray twigs or loose leaves. He prowled as close as he could while still staying in the cover of the shrubbery. Now that he was closer, he couldn't help but notice a slight difference in size... Unfortunately, he wasn't prepared for such a thing to stop him. Feeling brave, Sam leaped from the bushes and went barreling toward the Ysali dragon with absolutely no other plan but to tackle it.
Needless to say, he plan wasn't the greatest. The dragon's head whipped up when it heard him, and it bared pointed teeth at him. When that didn't stop him, she raised a heavy paw and swiped at him. Samael leaped away from the attack, diving into the air to snap around her. By now, the dragon was fed up with the smaller nuisance and ready to continue on with her meal. She spun around, smashing her tail into Sam and sending him hurtling back toward the trees he'd came from.
A row of splintering twigs, snapping branches, and rustling leaves accompanied him as he fell through the trees. Sam wasn't prepared for the rather painful collision he had with a heavy trunk. He hissed as he flopped onto his stomach, shaking his head to clear it. Maybe it wasn't best to attack a feeding dragon, after all...
