It smelled weird in the hallway, and for the life of her, Chel couldn't figure out why. It wasn't Dory's haircare products. It wasn't some weird lifer experiment gone wrong. Why it smelled like ... paint? Were they repainting the dorms or something? Maybe someone had blown something up and the blackened char had to be colored over.

She finally ran past the room of the painter and all made sense. A small girl, with gorgeous curls was painting her room. It was a bright, alarming pink- not that Chel had any problem with pink, of course. She just wasn't sure if she would've painted her whole room with it.

Leaning on the doorframe, Chel gave it a light knock and a gaudy grin. "I like the color, blondie," she complimented. No sense of personal space here. Just blind curiosity.

It hadn't taken long for Maebe to realize that she needed to ventilate the room when she was working with paint. So the door was wide open, but she was still feeling the effects of the fumes, and they made her dizzy and a little high.

"'Till a laaandsliiide brought it doown.." She muttered, singing under her breath as she moved the roller up and down the wall as evenly as possible. The knock on her doorframe didn't seem to startle her, but she looked up, staring cautiously at the pink haired hunter who was complimenting her choice in room decoration. Nevermind that she had a dozen or so pink stuffed animals already on her pink comforter colored bed. It wasn't like she liked the color or anything, baka.

Maebe walked up to Chel, and held the paint covered roller up near her head, just close enough to compare. She looked at the roller, then Chel's hair. Then the roller. Then Chel's hair. And the blank expression on her face turned into a smarmy smile. "You would." She chuckled out, grinning cheekily and returning to painting the wall. "It's my favorite. I won't live in a grey room. I won't."

She'd only done one wall so far, but she was almost done with that wall. She was just glad they gave them small rooms - buying this much paint had taken quite a toll on the money she'd just made off the cruiseship from hell.

Okay so this was a lot of pink. Probably more pink than Chel skated by on, but she could dig it. After all, it was her room. No reason to harp a brother down.

"I uh. I can tell." She gave the girl a sort of awkward smile, examining the room further with an outsiders eye. At first she was going to back out of the room politely, but then she remembered that hey- she was the newbie here! She needed to make friends. Make all the friends.

Looking around, Chel stuck her hands in her pocket. "So you gotta name? And uh- need help?" Her eyes might've been sparkling like an eager, friendly puppy's would at seeing the dog park for the first time. Too many friends to make.

Oh, a friendly face. Maebe might have been put off by Chel's attempts to get to know her, but Chel did have pink hair, and Maebe was very easily swayed when the color was involved. Plus, she assumed the girl had good taste. So she put her roller down, wiped her hands on the smock she was wearing, and held out her hand. "Maebe." She responded with a cocky grin. "And of course, why would I say no to some free help?"

She moved to her bed, grabbed one of the rollers still in the package, and unwrapped it, before handing it over. "Smooth, long strokes, always stay vertical, don't sway. You can fill one of the paint pads and start on the opposite wall if you want."

Aw yeah, free labor. "What's your name?" Well, not entirely free. Conversation was a fee.

Chel might've done a happy little fist pump. At least somebody wanted her around.

She took the roller from Maebe's tiny little hands and spun it a few times for fun. She'd only painted a few rooms in her lifetime, nothing special. Was she going to mess this up? Probably. Would she mean to? ... Probably.

"You givin' advice for the painting, or for the bed?" she inquired with a snicker behind her hands. "Sorry, sorry, where are my manners. Name's Chelsea, but most call me Chel. Ever played portal? S'where they get it from." Chel was a bit of a chatterbox. Oops.

Maebe should have known that she wouldn't be doing the work in silence. She continued to roll the paint down the wall, but her eyes fluttered brattily for a moment, thankfully out of view.

"I'm not sure what you think I meant by fill the paint pads, but.. I probably shouldn't ask." She moved to a new section. "Portal. It sounds familiar but I don't really do games. Is it like, on the computer?" She tried not to make it sound like she had already labeled Chel as a nerd. "I'm Maebe. Friends call me Maebe. Or they would. If I had any." That comment made her grin, but that, too, was lost to the wall. "How long you been a member of the fancy island club for killers, Chel?"

If there was annoyance, Chel didn't sense it.

Chel gasped a horrible gasp. "You don't really like games?!" If she could shed a single tear, she would have. "Well I suppose that's okay ... I'll hook you up once I figured how the ******** to Runic a thing. Some trainee told me that was what I'm supposed to do, but apparently it costs a shitton of money." She sighed.

"Maebe's a pretty name for a pretty girl," she concluded, picking up her own roller. "And I'll be your friend dude. That way you can call me Chel and I'll call you Maebe." It was a beautiful plan. "As for my timestamp, I'm uh ... Well let's just say I'm new."

After having a bunch of the older hunters (including Nevada, pretty as she was) call her a newbie and treat her like s**t, she was a little ready to shake the newbie label. "You?"
