Kyrai walked slowly over to the large heavy bag in the middle of the room. The gym had been one of the few rooms in the building that wasn't dust covered. The gym, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a small living quarters/emergency bunker. All were located in the basement, and were easy enough to keep secret from the outside world.
"There's things here that would ruin the world if they ever got out," she had said, "we need someone to stay and watch over this place. These people risked everything to keep the world say. You must continue their work." When he had first come back, the building had already been deserted, and his friends had moved on with their lives.
Kyrai had always been happy for them, and may have gone to find them. She was right though. The artifacts and tech in the vaults could be used to change the world, and not for the better. So, Kyrai made a vow to stay behind and watched the past. Not that it mattered. According to her, the place had been empty for quiet a while before he came back.
Kyrai took off his jacket and shirt, and wrapped his hands in clean gauze. He had lost most of the magic that had made him such a deadly oppenent, and while some cybernetics remaind, much of what made Kyle the powerhouse that he was, was gone. Still, the training from both lives was extensive, and came back to him as naturally as breathing.
He started hitting the bag then. Slow, deliberate punches that resonated through the empty basement.
Dio was crashing up stairs, Kara and Yadi would be coming back. Kyrai had much to do. He had spent the morning repairing some of the electrical systems. Thousands of electrical, pumping, and structural systems needed to be brought back up to speed. Already hundreds of tiny robotic units were making the building livable again. Cleaning years of dust and repairing broken furniture.
They were back now. Dio, Yadi, and Kara. He should have been happy, and in a way he was, but it also brought a list of problems he hadn't considered. Dio had been his best friend, Kyle's best friend, but he could tell that Dio resented him. He saw Kyrai as the person who had taken his friend away, not his friend. And, Yadi. He had been so happy when he saw her, but things were different. SHe hadn't believed he was who he said he was, and Kyrai had been certain that it was causing her more pain for him to be around. Just because he hadn't moved on didn't me they hadn't. Their body language around each other had implied that they had found comfort in each other.
He wondered for a moment if maybe it was his destiny to be the second fiddle in her life.
Kyrai shook his head, and picked up the speed and power of his punches. He was being a fool. Her feelings had always been what was important. He would continue to protect the woman he had fallen in love with and support the childhood friend he had missed so much.

The main doors of GIT slid open as Yadi approached them. As she walked in, she instantly noticed something had changed. The couches had been repaired, floor cleaned, furniture dusted and spider webs were no longer part of the wall decorations. The place once again looked like that warm room where her friends and her spent countless nights laughing and playing truth or dare.
A sad smile crossed her face as she walked across the room. She couldn't help wandering what had happened to the rest of the team...of her family. Were they well, did they ever come back as she had? She wondered if they ever thought of her.
It was so bittersweet. She was content to be back...and in a way she felt guilty about that. She had fought against herself for so many years to stay away. So many tragedies had happened...so many wrong decisions made...she had just lost herself in this place.
"That's an understatement." She rolled her eyes remembering Kikyo. The soul trapped in her that at one time was the source of her magic. That was all gone now, and she couldn't be happier to have made the changes she made after she left. She had really found herself in her time away from GIT and was finally happy.
That's why she felt this was so wrong...and at the same time it was like an addiction she couldn't stay away from. She missed her friends so much.
Walking down the wide now-fully-lit hallways of GIT she glanced around the empty rooms, occasionally seeing one of the bots Kaos had originally created to clean and fix anything damages in the building. 'Where were they this whole time?' She wondered to herself.
She decided she would look around the floors before heading over to her old room which is where she imagined at least one of her friends to be.

Kyrai had finished his work out and headed up the stairs towards the one shower area that worked still. It was to bad it was on the first floor. He flung his jacket and shirt over his shoulder and headed for the stairs. The workout had done wonders ridding him of his frustrations, but his mind was still racing.
Kyrai came around into the front lobby, still thinking about the things that happened last night. He didn't see Yadi standing there. He went over to the window that had been Kyle's spot so long ago, and stared out at the sky.
'They've come back." His couldn't help, but sound hopeful.

To her surprise, as she glanced inside her old room, neither of the guys were there. A small unconscious pout appeared on her lips as she closed the door and turned back. She decided against calling out their names as she walked the dim hallways. After the surprise she had received yesterday when she thought no one was in the building, she didn't want to risk awakening any weird things lurking in the many rooms of GIT.
The robots crossed her path weaving from room to room as she headed towards the elevators, which she was glad to find were now working properly.
Pressing the button to the lobby she couldn't help but let out a small sigh of disappointed. "I told them not to go anywhere." She mumbled as she stepped out of the elevator and into the hallway. To her surprise, a figure now stood by the window. "Kyrai?" She called softly not wanting to startle him.

Kyrai turned and met Yadi's gaze. He held it for a moment, a soft smile growing on his face. "Hello, beautiful." He hadn't meant to say it, but somethings were hard to forget. He coughed slightly and looked around, "I thought it was about time I started getting things in order around here. I wanted to suprise you."
He mentally knocked himself for feeling so nervous. Kyrai had thought about everyone returning so many times, so why did he feel on edge.

*Dio emerged dripping wet from a side hallway that had led to the shower rooms. A single towel was the only thing covering his naked body. Water trailed down his figure filling the gaps between his defined muscles and the many scars that marred his broad frame. The years had not been kind to him and he wore the scars as reminders of the past mistakes he had made. His chest and arms were also covered in strange black tattoos that covered his body like creeping vines that intertwined from the base of his skull all the way down beneath the towel. He had spent all night making repairs to the robots that had once been the silent work force keeping GIT clean and running smoothly. Dio had also reactivated much of the security systems that had protected the building from those who threatened it with malice intent. He stopped suddenly upon seeing both Yadi and Kyrai standing in the room before him.*
"Uh heya guys."
*Dio said while giving a small wave with one hand and in the process almost dropping his towel to the floor but quickly snatching it before anything could be exposed.*
"Have any of you seen my clothes? Apparently the smart a** rust bucket robots I took the liberty of fixing up last night mistook them for trash and jacked them while I was in the shower."
*Dio's face was slightly flushed after almost flashing his friends who were now staring at him like a deer in headlights.*

Yadi felt the butterflies in the pit of her stomach. She had heard those words so many times...so long ago...but they still had the same effect. She couldn't describe it. She hadn't seen Kyrai in so long. So that same chemistry and the bond they had so many years ago wasn't there anymore. Yet, certain words, expressions, certain actions caused feelings she couldn't explain. At least her head couldn't. It was as if they were still recorded inside her even though she felt much different now. I mean, how couldn't she. After all this time, they were all different people.
She shook her head realizing she had been frozen and staring at him the whole time before slowly walking to him.
"Hey." She smiled as she approached him. "Love what you've done with the place."
She complimented turning her head to look at the lobby as she pushed one side of her hair behind her ear. "It was about time." She added before turning back to look at him. She held her hands together in front of her lap as she tilted her head. "Are you alright? You look...far way" she commented before turning her attention to a new voice joining the room.

Kyrai looked over towards Dio and shrugged. "Did you check the laundry, or the incinerator?"
He shrugged a bit. "Wasn't any reason to have the place running with no one else around." He turned back towards Yadi. Things were so different for them now. But, to him, hardly any time had passed. He remembered only bits and flashes of Kyle's life, and the two years he had spent back he had been here alone.
"Yea, I was just thinking again. A bit nostalgic, I suppose. Do you know how long you two will be staying?" He flinched slightly at his own words, but he needed to know.

She squeaked in embarrassment turning her head away quickly, her hand at the side of her face blocking her from even accidentally seeing anything.
"You could have at least grabbed some sheets from one of the bedrooms before parading around the building and the glass doors indecently."

As awkward as it was ignoring the presence of a half naked friend prancing around the lobby, Yadi tried to focus her attention on Kyrai. She remembered a time when it was easier to read him, and wondered if that would ever be possible again.
"I won't be staying." She said trying to focus on their conversation instead of over analyzing feelings. "Like I told you guys before, I have another home now. I changed towns when I came back." She shrugged. "Not sure about Mr. Exhibitionist over there. I only saw him yesterday for the first time in like 5 years so No idea what trouble he's running away from this time."
She responded before turning back in the direction of Dio with a confused expression. "Which reminds me. What happened to your sister?"

All the air seemed to leave his body at once, "Oh? Well, I'm glad I got to see you again." Kyrai looked up at Dio, "I suppose you'll also be taking off?" He kicked himself again. Of course they would leave. She came back for her computer, and he came back for her. This place wasn't their home any more. They had lives to lead.
Once again, he felt himself cursing Kyle for making this decision for him. He and those other people had no right. "Well, I can't leave, so I guess if you ever find your self this way again..."

"Why would I leave? It's lonely in Aekea...and you guys are here."
She asked with a confused expression.
"Unless you don't want me here." She added with a playful pout letting her eyelashes flutter innocently.

"Oh I'm sorry because I was totally expecting a welcome out of the shower party in a building that's been abandoned for the past several years."
*Dio replied to Yadi's reaction in his usual sarcastic manner. He then looked to Kyrai.*
"We have a laundromat? And and incinerator?"
*As soon as the words left Dio's mouth a small, squat robot sped by clutching his missing garments in its thin arms disappearing into a side hallway headed towards the laundry area Kyrai spoke of. Dio immediately gave chase gripping his towel tightly with one hand.*
"Get back here you high-tech trashcan!"
*Several moments of silence went by before three loud gunshots could be heard echoing through the building once again. Dio then emerged from the hallway a few seconds later only this time fully dressed and with a smoking revolver in hand.*
"That's better."
*Dio let out a soft sigh as he patted himself down knocking loose the dirt and dust that covered his cloak and other vestments.*
"Yeah, that that guy is officially beyond repair. And let that be a lesson to any of you other robotic retards."
*Dio shouted at a mechanical janitor that had come to sweep up the debris that had fallen around him after dusting himself off. Dio then let out a heavy sigh and gave the robot a swift boot. *
"Go away d**k."

Kyrai shrugged a bit at the two. "I didn't figure you would stick around. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy to see you both, but It's been so long. I thought everyone had forgotten about this place."
Kyrai sighed at Dio running down the hall after the robot, and again hearing the shots. Those things don't grow on tree. I mean yes the systems can make more, but the material...never mind." Kyrai rubbed the back of his neck and yawned stiffly. He hadn't slept in a while and he new he was in for another long nighter, but maybe this one would be happier.

((Im taking forever)) *Dio looked at both Kyrai and Yadi as he holstered his revolver.* "Well you see the thing about my sister... She's part of the reason I'm laying low at GIT... again. The other part being me following Yadi here but that was a lucky coincidence. So I suppose I'll be around as long as it's a safe haven and as long as I have friends here to hide behind in case she does come looking for me." *Dio smiled gently at his two companions.*
