Auden wanted to explore. There was nothing he wanted more in this world. Well, save getting his brother back, but that was starting to look impossible. He didn't want to give up hope, but he didn't know what else to do.
It was because of his brother that Auden couldn't explore like he wanted. He knew that it would do nothing but cause Jase to worry--if he even let him go off. He didn't want to worry Jase, not anymore than he already did. Still, he was growing restless.
"Hey, Jase? Can we go for a run today?"

Jase turned to look at his brother, "A run? Why are you asking me? Just go run around the field for a while."
He turned back th the stump he'd been working at, scooping out the rotted hollow with one foot. He could often be found doing strange things like this, and even when asked directly he rarely explained himself.

Auden watched him, but he'd long given up questioning him over things like this. He sighed a bit at the answer Jase had given him. That wasn't exactly surprising either.
"I don't want to run around the field. I want to go further than the field."

"I would appreciate it if you wouldn't go that far without me," he said, not looking up from the log he'd been chipping away at, "But I'm busy right now. Tomorrow maybe?"

Auden sighed again, his ears drooping forward. "That's why I asked you," he muttered, stepping away from his brother and the stupid stump. As if that was important! It was a stupid stump. He could resume kicking it when they came back.
Turning his back on Jase, Auden looked out over the field. He didn't want to spend the rest of his life stuck here, doing the same things over and over. What had happened with Chane had been a terrible accident, but they couldn't continue to live their lives in fear, could they?

"Auden!" he turned to run after his little brother, hooves pounding on the hard trail. It didn't last long though. Auden had always been faster than him he always had more stamina too. There was no way he'd catch up unless Auden wanted him too, and since that meant he'd be dragging Auden home, he doubted very much that the other stallion would allow it.
"AUDEN!"

Auden paused when he heard Jase hollering his name. Grey eyes going wide, he turned on his hooves to look at him. "What?!" he called back, frowning at the bigger stallion. "I'm only doing what you said!"

He sighed and trotted over, "Look, I'm sorry. I need to finish this, then I need to find some traders. We'll go tomorrow, I just need a bit more time."

"Yeah, that's what you always say," Auden muttered, turning away again. He was tired of this, the same thing over and over. He should just go, he knew. But he couldn't do that to his brother. He couldn't leave him alone.
"It's fine. Don't worry about it. I'll just run around the field again."

Auden nodded, not looking at Jase. He scuffed his hoof in the dirt, staring down at the ground instead. "Yeah, okay. Alright, Jase."

He sighed, "Go on your run then." He turned to go back to his log.
"By the way!" he called back. "If you meet a couple of pretty ladies bring them back with you, got it?"

Auden snorted and let out a laugh. "Sure Jase. It'll be funny to try to watch you not scare them away!"
