Early morning found Kadryn going through her clothes. She wasn't much of a clothes person and tended to wear stuff till they fell apart and it showed. She couldn't' find a single set of clothing that didn't have blood stains or rips in them. The ones that didn't have any stains or rips were too small for her to wear anymore. Growling to herself, she pulled on a set that had only a few stains along the leg and grabbed her old bag. Maybe it was time to throw some clothes out and get new ones.. but she didn't want to go venture into a clothes shop alone! She wasn't too comfortable about being back in the civilized areas again. After her months out in the wild, followed by the week on Eowyn with that strange war, she still felt jittery about all the people and sounds about her.
Walking out into the surrounding areas near her home town of Hot Springs Village, she wondered if she'd be able to meet anyone she knew and could drag with her shopping. Her mother and little brother were at the Cafe cooking and her Father was at Ashen city doing something so she felt at loose ends since she'd promised her parents she'd wait at least a week before heading back out into the wilds to hunt.

She couldn't have pinpointed exactly when she had stopped venturing outside the Sanctuary. For a while after the... incident... she had strove to chase away her feelings of disappointment, confusion, and unwarranted fear by dragging Thren around Soudul, but when she had grown tired of looking for distractions, Eanah had finally settled in the library. She had learned a lot in those lonely months, but nearly all of her new knowledge was theoretical. She hadn't cast a single spell from her devastating arsenal until she had been called to war.
Forever faithful to her people, Eanah had reluctantly returned to Eowyn in response to Draco's summons, thoroughly distracted and uncomfortable as she traipsed through the desert. She had been so certain that she would see him, even though her drakein assured her she would not. In the end, Thren had been right. She had been tempted to ask how he had been so sure, but she eventually decided she didn't want to know.
Upon their return to Soudul, Maon had come to them with some news: Leyn was coming home. It was just the sort of push Eanah needed. The next day, she had taken Thren on a surprise trip to Serenia.
That was where they remained today, Eanah exploring the outskirts of a somewhat familiar village while Thren played in the trees out of sight. It had always been something of a challenge to distinguish one pale Orderite from another, but Eanah did know the one she had caught sight of now. During her months of study and reflection, she'd made little time for friends. Maybe she should have tried to find more. Seeing Kadryn away from the sands of Eowyn made her feel happy again.
Eanah moved closer to the other girl as quickly as she could without tripping over her dress. "Kadryn! Hello!" She smiled at the barbarian girl, her momentary exuberance dimming a bit once she had caught up.

Kadryn grinned hugely as she saw an old friend approaching her. "Eanah! I didn't expect to see you here, though it's wonderful that you are!" She gave the taller woman a big hug before realizing the quiet Eanah might not like hugs... Kadryn looked at Eanah and sighed. She was, as always, clothed in good clothes. It just made her old and battered clothes look that much worse. An idea occurred to her, perhaps she could convince Eanah to go shopping with her? It was an Orderite village, but they let Grrel wander about in it, so what was wrong with Eanah coming along? And since Eanah was so nicely clothed, perhaps she could help Kadryn pick some good ones out? It'd be better than fending off the dresses her mother kept on trying to get her to buy...
"Hey Eanah, would you mind going shopping with me?"

Eanah had to force herself to breathe normally and give Kadryn a squeeze in return, rather than freeze in place until the hug was over. She didn't disapprove of this sort of show of affection, she just hadn't been expecting it. The mage chuckled and looked down at the ground once it was over, pushing a strand of hair behind one of her ears as Kadryn continued. She tried not to look too harshly at her friend's clothing as she raised her head to meet the Orderite's eyes once more. The other young woman did look a mite disheveled, and shopping was one of Eanah's guilty pleasures, one she hadn't indulged in properly for quite some time. And now that she had her stipend from the Sanctuary...
"It's good to see you too. And, yes, that sounds like fun," she agreed. The clothing here was rather bright, but maybe if she looked hard enough, she'd even find something for herself. "I haven't ventured into the village properly yet, but if you lead the way, maybe I won't get lost!" With an Orderite at her side, she was much less likely to get harassed as well. It would be terribly awkward to have Thren come running to her aid if she ran into trouble, and considering she hadn't quite figured out how to reliably stop him from doing that, it was probably a good idea to keep out of it. "What were you thinking of buying?"

With a relieved smile, Kadryn headed back into her town with Eanah. "Thanks! I do need new clothes.. but I don't want to go shopping with my mother since she keeps wanting me to wear dresses... I'd prefer something more ... I don't know, suitable to flying, hiking, fighting.. but durable.. " She hadn't really thought on what she wanted, most of her shopping was more of saying no to her mother's choices.
"Oh, and don't worry about getting attacked here, I don't think they'd do any thing to you.. A Drakein friend of mine once just walked right into the village! You should have seen everyone's expressions! Grrel just wanted to eat at a Cafe once... " Kadryn chuckled at that memory. "Plus, since you're with me, you should be fine.. We'll have to stop by my aunt's cafe otherwise I'll never hear the end of me bringing a friend over and not saying hi!" She was certain that even if anything bad did happen, she would be able to diffuse it. Plus her village was nice and small: she knew who would have a problem with an Oblivionite, and those people tended to be in school right now or they were out hunting at this time of day so they were safe enough.

She followed after Kadryn, her lead bowed as she watched to make sure she didn't trip on the unfamiliar ground. It had been ages since she had even seen her parents, let alone shopped with her mother, but from what she remembered of the woman, they had similar tastes. Even so, Eanah had no desire to go back home, let alone pass a friendly afternoon with either of her parents, no matter how alike they might be.
Eanah continued looking down as Kadryn alleviated her unvoiced concerns. It was good that she wouldn't be harassed. "Yes, we can surely visit a cafe if a drakein did so." There would be plenty of time for it. But... no dresses? "I'm not sure how much of a help I can be with picking out hiking and flying clothing, but I have many sturdier outfits as well as fancy ones. There are certain fabrics that outlast others, and good stitching can mean the difference between a garment lasting forever or tearing and falling off during a fight." She looked up again with a chuckle. "Sorry. You seem to have found one of my favorite things to speak of."

Kadryn chuckled. "Good thing you like shopping! I've never really liked it. Though since I'm an adult now, I suppose it's time I start dressing in better clothes." She looked at her battered clothes. "Comfy as these are.... Maybe you cna tell me what looks good and what's really terrible? Not sure I'd look good in a dress nor really need to look girly for anyone anyways." So far she hadn't felt attracted to anyone.. At least not like the other girls seemed to feel. She couldn't understand this feeling of having to look nice for a person.. it was so weird! Just wear comfy clothes! That's what she wanted to.. but people looked at you like a vagabond if you wore the battered stuff like she did.

Eanah nodded sharply, a small smile still lifting her lips. "I would be happy to." She kept her head raised now as she walked, peeking into shop windows as they passed. "I'm not sure you strictly need to look nice for anyone in particular." Her voice lowered a bit as she spoke and her smile faltered, but it was back again in the space of a swallow. "Though I suppose I do prefer... prettier clothing because it makes a certain impression." She thought back to the day she and the other girl had first met, how she had arrived back at the Sanctuary with her hair in knots and her dress ruined. She had continued wearing that dress until she had outgrown it, every time she suspected someone was going to make a mess.
"Ah! Pants can be pretty too!" she chirped, taking a sharp right and pushing open the door of the nearest shop.

Kadryn noticed the slight faltering when Eanah mentioned not needing to look nice for someone.. hmm. Was there something there? She thought with amusement to herself; Man, I really need to work on reading people! I just don't understand all these non verbal signs.. unless its in battle, then I can read them! Kadryn chuckled, "Well, I usually don't mind what people think of me, so long as they aren't afraid." That was bittersweet there. Going berserk and trying to kill another orderite in the Citadel itself? Well, that had been very awkward and she hadn't gone back yet... seeing fear or distrust in people's faces wasn't something she liked at all.
She turned to follow Eanah as she turned into a shop. A regular of her Aunt's shop. Good, she thought. Lirra is a nice person and solid. So high chance of her not freaking out and accepting Eanah! There was something about living in a village and knowing everyone that made living here very comfortable.
"Hi Lirra!" She called out with a smile to let her know they were there.

Upon entering the shop, Eanah paused for a moment, both because of Kadryn's words and due to the reality of finding herself in an Orderite place of business. She had been in their shops before, but it seemed the experience would never be anything but novel. The cheery demeanor she had displayed outside focused almost instantly, like a house cat catching sight of a mouse, and she looked around sharply as Kadryn called out a greeting. Finding nothing but fabric and leather, she fought to soften her expression again.
"Hm," she hummed, turning her attention to the nearest rack of pants. "I suppose it is best not to look too intimidating amongst friends." Being about as much of a physical threat as an uruu in a thunderstorm, Eanah had never thought to go out of her way to look menacing. Honestly, it would have been a waste of her time. "So. Pants first," she said, softening further. "A cropped pair and one of regular length to start." She didn't mention the color, hoping that Kadryn or this Lirra could do well enough with that on their own. If they trusted Eanah's sight on that front, her friend would end up looking like a clown.

Kadryn waved at the shop keeper who came around the corner at her call looked rather surprised so see what had entered her shop. But she relaxed, paying customers were paying customers after all! Kadryn followed Eanah towards the cloth, "What's cropped mean? There are different types of pants?" Maybe I should have payed more attention when shopping with my mother..... Her eye got caught by a nice warm brawn fabric and she wandered over to it. "Hmmm, this is a nice color..It'll hide some stains and dirt nicely." She held it up, really light though... maybe they had something heavier? "I think if we can find something sturdy enough in this color, I'll be fine. Just need something comfortable to wear really." She said to Eanah.

"But what if you have to..." Eanah held her tongue, quickly coming to the realization that Kadryn had been parading around the countryside in what amounted to rags for a number of months already. Clearly she didn't mind attending social events in the same clothing she fought in, and nothing Eanah could say would be likely to change her mind.
"Two... somethings? At least?" She tried to sound conversational, but it came across a tiny bit desperate. "They can be the same color and everything."

Kadryn looked at Eanah as she spoke. Have to do what? Comfortable clothes were all she needed really.... what had she been going to say. As for her tone. Kadryn grinned, Eanah had the same tone as her mother did when shopping with her! Guess I'm a bit too stubborn.. I could try on something new once and a while.... "I should probably buy four sets. That way they'll last longer I guess." Kadryn said with a smirk. "And what if I have to what?" She wandered over to a corner of the shop where there were furs, "Hmm, maybe I should get a winter set too. I'm thinking of heading to Aisko and all I have is my father's old winter gear...." Plus she could wear it around here during the winter and when she went to go explore the Terra Expanse...

The Oblivionite sighed with relief when Kadryn relented and agreed to purchase a few more articles of clothing than she'd planned. "Yes, very good. Four sets will do nicely." She waved her hand slightly, as if to wipe away her earlier words.
"I just... I think there are probably more social events at the Sanctuary than might be required of you. I am often expected to attend dinners and other gatherings, and I like having appropriate things to wear to them." She would have preferred to have a new outfit for each, but her stipend wouldn't allow for such frivolity. Luckily there were ways around all of that. Jewelry, magical additions to her outfit, hairstyles. There were many things she could alter in order to make herself stand out.
"But it's no matter." She joined Kadryn near the furs. "I think you should. Get some winter clothes, I mean." She began looking through them herself, considering a cloak and a pair of leggings for herself. "Aisko is... Well, I've never been. But if it's as cold as Eowyn is warm, they would be a good investment."

It's a good thing I have a lot saved up from helping out at the Cafe as well as orbs I've traded for cash, other wise how else would I afford all this. Clothes are expensive, Kadryn was realizing and wondered if she could just buy the cheap ones... But looking at the cheaper cloth, she saw they weren't as sturdy, and she needed stuff that could take a beating and be cleaned off easily. As she was going through the piles with Eanah, she managed to pick out a nice white and grey fur and one set of cloth when the shop owner came out with a package in her hands. "You may be interested in these Kadryn. I normally only supply villager's clothing, but every now and then I find a nice set of leathers and equipment that are meant for hunters. Not a lot of them stop by here often enough for me to regularly stock them, but I do have a few on hand." She left it there with a smile and went to go help and distract a new customer who entered. Kadryn picked through the pile and smiled at the goggles in there. "This'll be useful when flying. I keep getting dirt in my eyes when the wind blows. Wonder what else is in there." She laid out the selection on top of the cloth in front of her. Some black, white and brown leather clothing. "Hmm, these aren't for me," she pointed at the black and white ones. "Blacks much too warm to wear in the sun and makes me stand out while white's far too difficult to keep clean. Brown's nice though! A bit too detailed and has nice decoration, so not something I should fight in, right?" She held it up, it was finely made jacket that had just a bit of decoration along the edges.
