Pachelbel weaved through the undergrowth and out into what, to him at least, was a very familiar clearing. He smiled a bit as he looked around but felt a bit sad as well. Not so long ago the grass here had been tamped much flatter from hooves, his own and his mate Tinuviel's. Now there were hardly any signs of their dances. Although that wasn't all a bad thing. They'd finally stopped meeting in secret and brought each other home to their respective families, but even that hadn't been as happy as it should have been.
Pach sighed and shook his head letting the bells in his mane chime a bit, a low almost remorseful sounding peal for days gone by. He stamped a back hoof then and the bell in his tail let out a much happier sounding chime, and Pach knew he needed to cheer up. It hadn't been a bad day. He'd spent most of it with his parents and new little siblings and was now on his way home to Tin. He did have to wondered what Beat would think of their new siblings and wished his brother would wander home soon.
Pach stepped out into the middle of the clearing and did a few quick steps of a fast jig that his mother had taught him many years ago. It just didn't feel right if he didn't give the clearing at least a few steps before leaving. He suddenly stopped though and looked around. Pach felt like he was being watched...not in a bad way thought...more like when he'd met Tinuviel, but he knew she was still at home.
"Who's there?" he called out, hoping he wasn't about to regret this.

Lyric couldn't help his desire to follow Pachelbel. Sure, if his parents noticed his absence, as he was sure they would soon, he might get in trouble, but Pach was someone he was immensely interested in. He couldn't help when his hooves suddenly kicked up and quietly brought his legs along for the ride. Pach was going somewhere, and not only was Lyric bored of staying in one place all the time but it was also a sign that something cool was about to happen! Lyric had heard stories of Pach's dancing, and maybe once or twice caught a glimpse of movement within the older brother. It had stirred a strange feeling inside his stomach. Lyric wanted to move. He wanted to twitch and shiver to the quiet, gentle notes he could hear on the winds. He wanted to gracefully translate what he heard with his limbs, and yet Lyric knew he didn't know how to. Sure, sometimes he had snuck off and managed a unique step or a good twist, but he was a horse. He was big, even though he was a foal, and he did not yet know how to use his body for that one little talent he wished to dive into. Maybe... maybe Pach could be the one to guide him? However, Lyric wasn't about to go and blatantly ask. It seemed wrong to, anyway, for if it was so personal to Lyric then what was it to Pach? Would Pach scrunch his face at the question and be offended by the breach of the others personal space? Perhaps. Perhaps not. He had been quiet when Pach walked, somehow able to keep himself almost invisible. Lyric was proud, tail flicking lazily when he realized he was successfully sneaking up on his brother. Suddenly, Pach stopped and Lyric froze, scurrying behind a tree. A silence followed, and then to his amazement Pach kicked into a jig he did not recognize. The foal's ears perked up, hearing the bells chime and watching his brother with an admiration he usually kept bottled. Then, too abrupt for his taste, Pach stopped and looked around. Was Lyric caught? His brothers voice rang out clearly, and Lyric cringed. He could turn tail and run home, but was this his chance? Besides, Pach didn't seem agitated. He seemed more curious than scared, and if he heard Lyric flee that may alarm him. Lyric might as well come out. With a gentle grunt, the younger brother padded out into the open, curious blue eyes viewing his brother abit shyly. "It's just me."

Pach let out a breath he didn't know he'd been holding. He didn't know who he'd expected exactly but it definitely hadn't been Lyric. "Lyric." he said then took a few steps towards the young colt. "What are you doing away from Grandmother's alone?" Although technically Lyric wasn't alone. He was with him, but he hadn't known his little brother had been following him. If there had been a walker out there stalking him, his little brother was easy prey.
It was way to many "if's" and Pach shook his head to clear his thoughts. "You should know better than to wander off alone. Do Mom and Dad know you're out here?" he didn't really want to come down too hard on Lyric. Wanderlust was supposedly genetic, although it had definitely skipped a generation in Pach and Beat.
The thought of his other brother brought a hint of a smile to Pach's face. In appearance Lyric reminded him a lot of Beat, but personality wise, not so much. That honor was definitely reserved for hyper little Timpani. He sobered before looking back down at his youngest brother. "Well if you're here there must be a reason." he said. "And I hope it's more than just wanting to cause trouble. So lay it on me, Little Brother. What can I do for you?" he asked in complete seriousness, but there was a hint of a playfulness in Pach's tone.

Lyric flicked his tail as his brother approached and questioned him, head tilting as he viewed the other silently. What was he doing out here, anyway? The younger brother blinked his eyes at his brother, shrugging gently. "I was bored staying at home everyday. You were going somewhere, so I was interested in what could be so interesting." He quietly answered, tail flicking again and ears flicking back when the other questioned if anyone knew where he was. "No, but if I'm with you it's okay, right?" He questioned quietly, hopefully. His head raised up as his older brother seemed to give up the gentle scolding. A shy, rare smirk crossed Lyric's face before he glanced about. His front feet shuffled before he considered a response. Again, what if it was too personal to Pach to share? But, Pach had asked what could be done, and that playful tone seemed to encourage Lyric. "Your dancing is beautiful." He sputtered, a slight tint of pink touching the quiet males face. "I've tried, but I'm not that good.... And I won't be unless someone teaches me." He focused on Pach, a quiet question behind the silence.

Pach chuckled. "The answer isn't all that interesting. I was going home to my mate Tinuviel. I stay with her family right now, because..." he trailed off. He didn't want to lie to his little brother, but he was worried the truth might scare him, and the last thing he wanted to inflict upon his parents was a bunch of terrified foals, because if Lyric knew, the girls would find out sooner rather than later. "Well, because I want them to accept me as her mate." Which was true, but it was also a half truth. "I just pass through this clearing because this is where I met her, and it's the easiest way to get back in a hurry."
He sighed. Kid logic. It was flawed and yet so hard to argue against. "I suppose so."
He smiled at the rush the next sentences came out in. "Thank you. I worked very hard at it. Mother is the one who taught me originally." that made him pause. He wondered why Mother hadn't started teaching this set how to dance, or at least the ones that wanted too. "I can of course teach you. I just warn you my style isn't for everyone. If you find you don't like it, Mother can teach you to dance like an Amachi, or at least a Forte, and it never hurts to learn lots of ways to dance. It helps you find your own path." he said with a nod.

Mate? Wasn't that a person you devoted your life to? Lyric tilted his head to the side, pleasantly amused. It must be nice having someone like his mother had. A partner. He stored that information quickly in the back of his mind. One day he'd worry about that. Right now, dancing. Mother taught Pach? Perhaps it had been because Lyric never really showed his interest in it that his mother never decided to teach him... Maybe someday he'd ask her. However, for some reason he wanted Pach to teach him. Was it because Pach's dancing seemed to match the ideal style Lyric dreamed of? Or was it less embarrassing dancing in-front of someone if it was his older brother? "Okay." Was his simple answer. Short and sweet, how most of Lyric's sentences were. The young boy was eager, though it didn't quite show at the moment. Instead, he simply glanced around, eyes flicking up to Pach's bells briefly. "You... you don't have to now if it's a bother. I know you're going to see your mate. It can wait until you get home?"

Pachelbel glanced up at the sky. It really wasn't that late in the day and he'd only promised Tin that he would be home at some point today after staying the night with his family.
"I have some time now." he said looking back down at his brother. "Not to long though, I'll have to walk you back to grandmother's and then get home myself before dark. I don't think Mother and Father would like it if I took you home with me without telling them." he said giving Lyric a playful nudge. "And after you get out of trouble for sneaking off we can arrange a more permanent time to practice, okay?"
He knew he should really march his little brother home right now, but the desire to show Lyric his first steps was very enticing. Deep down it seemed Pach wanted to teach, and he hoped when his own foals came along they would want to learn as badly as Lyric seemed to want too.

Lyric waited as his older brother glanced up, hoping to the Deities that his brother wouldn't send him home. He wasn't ready, not after the dance he had just witnessed. He wanted to learn something, anything, and as soon as possible. The nudge and response was enough for a low laugh to escape the normally quiet child, ears flicking and head rapping backwards as he tossed his hair to one side. "Really?" He grinned back, close to just dancing himself! His brother agreed! And he'd teach him again? This wasn't just a one time gig? With a childish grin that did not find its way onto his face often, the younger boy settled down onto his haunches and nodded fiercely. "If you wouldn't mind teaching me more, then I would like to set up a permanent time, yes."

Pach smiled a bit. Lyric reminded him a bit of himself at that age. Constantly after Mother to teach him a new step. "Hopefully they'll go easy on you and we won't have to wait longer than a week to start permanent lessons." He said. He then looked around the clearing and motioned Lyric to follow him towards the middle. "First rule of dancing, make. Sure you have lots of room. Won't do for you to run into things. Sorta ruins the whole effect." He said with a chuckle.
"Next get loose. Don't want to pull a muscle, it hurts, and if you do enough damage you won't be dancing anymore." He said in all seriousness. "To get loose, stretch, stretch everything." To show what he meant Pach began to stretch each and every leg one at a time several times before moving to his neck and head and even flicking his tail a few times sounding off the big deep voiced bells that were there. Once finished he looked down at Lyric. "Now let me see you stretch and we'll move on." He said with a nod.

With a short, brief snort of amusement, the male followed after his brother when motioned to do so. He seemed to eat up the directions given to him, eagerly glancing around and nodding to himself when he noted that the clearing was indeed spacious enough. "Okay." He quietly grumbled back as the male was told to stretch. Dipping his front legs forward, he allowed his back to stretch as far as it could first before moving on to his legs. His legs cracked here and there, though it was only natural since he had been either napping all day or waiting around for something interesting to happen. He didn't quite understand the tail bit, but he followed his brothers movements and flicked his tail quietly before stretching his neck and even flicking his ears. With that done he looked up at Pach with a face that clearly said: 'What now?'

Pachelbel could see the skepticism in his little brothers face at being told to loosen up. Well he'd understand one day when he rushed into a complicated motion and then couldn't complete for one reason or another. Pach himself hadn't really listened to his mother's warnings until he'd overextended himself once or twice. He wasn't so old that he didn't remember being that young and thinking he knew everything there was to know.
Satisfied that Lyric had properly stretched out, he took a few steps back and motioned towards his hooves. "Now that we're nice and warmed up, it's time to learn the first and most important step. The crossover." he demonstrated by shuffling from side to side by crossing one leg over the other, front and back, and then even making a circle doing nothing but crossing his hooves over each other. "It may look simple, but it's easy to trip over yourself and then you're on the ground and having to figure out how to untangle yourself." he said coming to a stop. "So when you're ready, left front hoof fist," he said raising his own left hoof. "And crossover."

Lady Argentum Draconis I am so sorry I've been late on this tag. 3 Crossover. Of all the things his brother could be teaching him. However, Lyric swallowed thickly and nodded. Okay. He both admired and trusted his brother enough to do as the other asked. A leg here, a leg there, hopefully he'd master this simple ability fast enough for more moves. More complicated moves. And so he nodded and lifted his front left hoof and attempted. It was wobbly at first, but he managed a few crosses before, with a yelp that was very unlike the male, he was sent tumbling to the ground, and hard. He luckily was able to detangle his legs, though the blush on his face could not remove his embarrassment. Before he could either be laughed at or mocked he quickly scooped himself up and tried again, cheeks a fiery red. "Mm." He grunted in frustration as he tripped a few times, but thankfully wasn't sent back into the ground like before.

Pach's mouth twitched slightly as Lyric tumbled to the ground. He managed to get his face back under control though before he either smiled a little to wide or snorted. "Not as easy as it looks is it?" he asked in all seriousness. "It seems such a simple task crossing one hoof over the other, but it can be quite devious when it comes to execution. I would know. I spent a good amount of time on the ground at first. And I know I got frustrated when I got told to keep practicing crossovers to the left and to the right, because that's what you're going to do now, go to the right. I know it's boring, it's not exciting, but if you don't master this step, you'll have a harder time learning the more complicated ones that use part of this step, and then you'll get frustrated even more and think dancing is too hard, and may want to give up all together."
He leaned down to look his little brother in the eye. "You may think simple is boring, but simple can be elegant in it's own way too, and it's just as important as the more intricate stuff."

Lyric was more than frustrated. How could he be a dancer if he couldn't simply move? His face had become a scrunched mess of focus and determination, softening when his older brother leaned down and spoke. Ah. No! He didn't want to go to the right! He didn't want to do simple.... But his rare impatience was understandable. He wanted to accomplish what his body longed for, and he wanted to feel the feeling of moving freely. He wanted it now, but Pach had a point. He needed to practice, whether he liked it or not. And dammit, he was going to perfect this act by the time Pach came home. "I'll get it done." He promised, looking up fondly at his older brother and now mentor. "When you get home I'll be so graceful you'll be stunned. I'm going to practice all day and night."

"I know you will." Pach said with a smile. "I have the feeling you'll be a fast learner just like I was, and I'll have to do some fast thinking to show you something new every lesson." he said chuckling. "Lucky for you though I have a few tricks, and some things that even mother doesn't know how to do."
He glanced up at the sky and wondered how much longer he should risk delaying his trip back to Tin. "Alright a few more things and then off home with you. I'll give you something to think about, a short little routine that you can figure out. I'll come see you in about a week, and we'll work on some more."
Pach took a few steps away and then took a deep breath. What to do, what to do. Something simple of course, he then suddenly got it. He stamped a back hoof letting his tail bell sound out and then began a slow easy dance that Lyric shouldn't have too much trouble figuring out. Lots of twists, turns, and crossing of hooves. All things that were essential to the dance. When he finished he came to a stop and nodded to his brother. "I wanna see your version when I come to see you again." he said.
