Kikawaida plodded about a little ways from her secret hide away in the middle of the dingy swampiest part of the swamp lands. It was a dangerous place but she had traverssed it her whole life and knew just how to get to the little isle in the center. It was the best place to go hunting for frogs. She had had a great need for the small, brown - green ampibians of late and had nto stopped to ask questions about it until she had put on a few pounds. Her usual sveltesse figure was looking decidedly rotund around her middle. She was definately worried about it. She had never put on weight before, well, unnecessary weight any way.
Something told her she should be alone, what if Umo saw her, she was, well she was looking plump! She was almost sure Umo would be appaled by her appearance, he had fallen for a slender femme after all and now, well now she looked and felt a bit like an inflating baloon. She had to cut back on the frogs, but they tasted so good! Laying with a heavy flump she tossed ehr paws over her dusty pink eyes feeling destressed, what would Umo think when he found out she had gotten fat? She was so confused, she had never been fat before, she had never gained so much weight in so little time! Damnded frogs! Why did they taste so good?

Umo padded along the small trail, or at least what he thought was a trail; scenting for Kika's soft smell. He hadn't seen her all day and he was still a little uncomfortable with the swamp pride, after all... they weren't his pride. His crimson eyes looked worried. She seemed to be getting, well; rather the opposte of what he thought she was going to. Her belly was widening with the forthing of cubs and yet, she seemed; sad. He shook his head worridly. Oh his poor Kikawaida. HIs poor whispering Jewel. He padded on, not upset about hte wet paws anymore. He turned his head, spotting a glimps of her pelt.
He spun quickly, bounding over to her as quickly as he could, embracing her with his brute neck. "Kika, my darling. Where have you been!" He said quickly, his voice high but not showing emotion, just like himself. He tugged playfully at her ear, before she could complain and flipped himself over on his back, his front paws batting at her chest. "Kika... i've been worried about you darling. Is something bothering you?"

Kikawaida couldn't help but smile as the big lug pounced at her. She butted her head against his and even nipped at his toes playfully. As he spoke though she looked away from him. Had Umo noticed she was getting, well pudgy? She was starting to wonder if all lionesses got fat when they gaiined mates. "I'v just been..hunting frogs..again.." she looked at him in a sheepish manner, her ears flattening tightly against her head. In a way, because of ehr time alone she was a little vain about her apperance. She had no idea she would get FAT when she got a mate. She loved Umo, adored him more than anyone else but that was no excuse to be binging on frogs all the time!
"Umo.. I'm so confused" she gazed at him and sighed heavily "I know that Asa..well she obviously is adored by her mate.." she tailed off for a moment la far away look coming to her eyes. "I'v never been this fat in my life!" she blurted it out looking away, he must think her so vein, a shallow little swampette. This dusty pink eyes looked at her dark paws "I didn't know I would get fat when I got a mate.. I just..I can't stop eating frogs, it's like they ..I don't kno like i'm craving them constantly..you must think I look awful, you didn't become mate to a blob, yet here I am..blobbing out on you" She put her chin on the floor covering her eyes with her dark, slightly muddy paws though she didn't seem to mind. Her voice though still whispery as always, lifted upon that breeze, sounded rather irratic, the notes lilting like a sharp gust of wind through grass. She was aggitated and frightened, what if Umo didn't love her any more? He ddin't fall in love with this after all.

Umo chuckled deeply, his crimson eyes blinking in his apparent happiness. He wanted to reach up and grab her and flop her down next to him and clean her face. He reached out a paw to pat her in the face when she spoke upsettedly. He cocked his head, listening to her.
"Well yes, Kika. You are gaining weight for a reason." He said with a smile, a comforting one, not a teasing one. "Kika, I would love you no matter what my Jewel. Kika-Kika you think you are fa?t" He said,his eyes widening. "I hope so Kika... You.. you are pregant you know. " He asked, his face confused.

Kikawaida looked up at her mate with a confused look in ehr dusty pink eyes. There were no words to describe what he just said to her so she simply raised a brow and muttered the first thing that came to her lips "huh?" She looked up at him a bit worried. What was 'Pregnant', it must mean fat she decided and she looked more worried "Oh Umo..you must be so upset with me I didn't mean to get 'pregnant'" she looked up at him with a worried look in her eyes "I'll stop eating lots of frogs I promise" she sniffles a bit, her voice was unusually whistly today, she was worried. Her voice really wasn't usually this high pitched, pregnant sounded like such a horrible word to her, it must have meant she was really fat! Umo must be so disgusted with her!

Umo chuckled deeply, walking over closer to her and lickign her face. "Kikawaida. Pregenant means... with child... with cub Kika. We are going to have children!" He said with a smile, looking at her directly in front of her. "You could not prevent your belly growing sweetness. It is apart of bearing a child. Not eatting frogs would do nothing... in fact. Eat them... you are eatting for more than yourself now love!" He said.
"I love you like you are. Even if you did gain real weight, I would still love you! No matter what!"

Kikawaida looked up at the large male. Perhaps she was becoming more confused by his words, or more enlightened, but for a long time she was silent. Her huge, dusty pink eyes gazed off in to the distance. She longed for devine intervention, the spirits had been quieter of late, perhaps it was that she didn't need them any more. She was with cub? Did she eat it? No, she had never eaten a baby lion. "But Umo..how did a cub..well get in there?" she frowned a bit "how will it get out?" her eyes went wide thinking about it "Cubs are a gift from the spirits..I..well.." she ground to a halt scrunching up under Umo's chin. hiding ehr face in his dark mane "Oh Um,o, I'm frightened" she whispered her ears flattened against ehr head, she was so cunfused and although Umos words comforted her a little, he would love her no matter what, she was still very confused and frightened. Cubs were 'gifts' from the spirits, she didn't know they were gifts that came out of her some how.

Umo looked puzzled. How to explain. "Well. When a male and female lion love one anouther, things happed between them that produce a child-" He started, then proceeded to tell her of the process of reproduction in a lions veiw. He seemed to be red in the face as he told her, his tail swaying back and forth. "This is all apart of the circle of life Kikawaida. So ndo not worry, things will come and things will go, you will know what to do when it happens dear." He added, knowing this might be too much information for her to handle. He snuggled into her, his nose hiffing in her ear.

Kika puured softly, okay, this wouldn't be too bad. She would know what to do. She didn't fully understand the physics of it but she supposed the spirits would help her.
Her dusty pink eyes lifted to look at Umo with the same joyous love she had held for him "we are to be parents" she whispered, like her own mother before her. She really didn't have much of a clue how to be a mother, but she knew Umo would help, he seemed excited, like a very big fluffy cub. She giggled softly "Are you happy Umo?" she whispered, her voice lilting upon the soft breeze, now she had calmed her voice was no longer strained. She smiled gently up at him, a light smile on her gentle lips now, when the time came she would know what to do, oh she hoped so.

Umo nodded slowly, his joy overflowing almost to the point where he wanted to cry. He stepped closer to her, nuzzling the tip of her nose with his own. His brown tail swung slowly side to side, enjoying all she spoke. His darling whispering Jewel.
"We will have children. We will create life with one another. You are to be a mother and Me, a father." He said flatly, licking her ear. He would help her through all of this, though most of it he did not fully understand, but what he knew was that a mother would know what to do when to do it and how. "I am so happy Kikawaida. I wish I could express it with my voice. I really do."

Kika smiled lightly, snuggling close to her large mate, a slight sigh escaping her as he moved closer to her. She was frightened but she would know what to do. Asali'ja would help he too, the queen of the swamps was missing at the moment. She wasn't sure why. At the moment she was happy to sit with Umo though a slight nervousness was forming already being around her large mate, the pull to be alone, though she loved umo greatly. Perhaps this was normal? she needed to speak tot he queen about it certainly. She would soon, at least when the queen returned.
