It was summer. It was hot outside, the sun was shining, folks were running around in their shorts...
...and one girl decided it was a good time to pull out the Christmas decorations and start decorating the hedges to her house with tinsel. Of course, the child was not completely dense. She didn't have the usual reds and greens out front (though she did keep some of the gold strands since they went well with other colors) since those colors strongly represented the winter holiday. No, her tinsel was gold, pink, and purple (colors that were commonly found even during the winter holiday season, since so many individuals needed to be "unique").
The girl seemed to hop about the front yard, her floral-print skirt puffing up every so often as she fussed with the long strands of tinsel. Mom gave her permission to decorate the hedges, nothing more, so Mystery was doing the best she could!
She was hoping to have it finished by the time the next appointment showed up, but alas, it was not meant to be! For a moment or two her large smile vanished to something more thoughtful and neutral. However, it didn't last very long and soon enough she was smiling and cantering towards the blonde, leaving behind her momentary decorating project.
"Hullofericerous*! Are you Rhiannon? You look like a Rhiannon! If you aren't a Rhiannon, I am terribly sorry that I am accusing you of being a Rhiannon!"
A pause, a blink, then more chattering.
"Are you here for pictures? Or something else? One time we had a delivery gal pop by who was just trying to drop off a package and I thought she was an appointment... that was hootamalarious*!" She slapped her thigh and laughed a bit.
"Oh, I'm Carolynn's daughter by the way! I go by Mystery!" The hand which had been guilty of slapping her thigh soon enough was thrust at the practical stranger, expectantly awaiting a handshake.

Why she was even following through with this was beyond her, except maybe for the fact that her aunt was enough of an enabler to help finance this. Frowning and trying not to be too disappointed with herself for losing a bet with her cousin, Rhiannon slowly made her way down the street towards the address of this costume photography… thing…
She wasn’t even sure what it was, but apparently it existed and people liked it and it was a fabulous price to pay for a lost bet…
Eyebrows raised curiously at the sight of Christmas decorations in the middle of summer, but the sight of a young child bouncing around seemed to clarify any confusion one might have.
Rhiannon hesitated as she was spoken to, at first wondering if the girl didn’t speak English, only to be proven wrong… and despite being slightly taken aback that the child knew her name, she nodded. It figured that she really would have an appointment. So much for hoping that they would be too busy and she could just walk away.
But when asked what she was there for, she opened her mouth and closed it without a word, unsure of how to respond to such questions, especially when being asked more than one thing at once… and she kept saying weird words…
She stared at the child with wide eyes, cautiously reaching out to take the child’s hand when it was offered to her…
What had she gotten herself into…?? LizzyMoo I swear I hadn’t forgotten about this. QQ

The introduced Mystery-child had been speaking the majority of the time, but after her hand curled around the blonde's and gave a few firm shakes in greeting, she couldn't help but lean in and whisper something from the side.
"This is the part where you say 'My name is Rhiannon'... or whatever your name is if you are not a Rhiannon..."
The girl straightened herself up as discreetly as possible (which was not very discreet at all), then with the hand already attached to the assumed client, she began to try and drag her towards the front door of the house.

Rhiannon stared at the girl, not knowing how to handle someone so vibrant. It had been so long ago when Rhiannon was as energetic as this child, and she hoped Mystery would always hold onto her enthusiasm, unlike herself. But things happen, as they had with her.
Finally she nodded in response to her name, but paused and cleared her throat. “I am,” she confirmed, and was promptly dragged to the door.
She wasn’t sure what to expect but she wasn’t going to be making any more bets any time soon. Whatever she was getting herself into, it didn’t seem as though there would be any way to get herself out of it, now that Mystery was involved.

The confirmation got a big grin from the child as she turned the knob to the front door. Entering the classic house with white exterior, it was quite a contrast that the first wall visible once entering was a stark red wall with black Fleur de lis all along it.
The child chirped out briefly after closing the door. "Oh, how did you get out here, Requiem?"
Upon a lamp set near the front door was a pale parakeet, quietly just cocking her head curiously at both who had just entered.
With a little giggle, the child ran over to the lamp (and in the process probably yanked poor Rhiannon's arm) and offered the little bird a finger to hop onto.
The little bird didn't even chirrup as it hopped into place.
Now armed with the parakeet, she brought the bird towards the guest briefly.
"This is Mom's pet Budgerigar, Requiem! You can say 'hi' to her if you want, but she won't say anything back."
