Welcome to my Quest Thread!
--- insert amazing banner here ---

Hello there everyone, my name is Biki!

To be honest I have never known Gaia without the Lab and I have
repeatedly tried to become a part of this amazing shop, however
every time I have let my nerves get the best of me. Yet over the
last couple of years I have required myself numerous role-play
required pets and am now a role-play manager in another shop.

This has really helped me build up my courage, I have always
loved the Lab and would really like the chance to role-play in
this amazing community. I am sticking around this time, you
guys will just have to put up with my derps until I remember
everything. I am a little slow at the best of times so, prepare
for some bluppers, though that's what quest threads are for.

Anyway I hope you enjoy my quest, any constructive criticism
(or well wishing) is more than welcome!

Fel Essence
String of Fate. Legends say there is a red string tied around your finger that you cannot see or feel. It is indefinitely long and can reach around the world if it needs to, because the other end is tied around the finger of your true love. However, this string is broken, a fragment of the thread that once connected none other than Freyr and Shira, before the untimely death lead to its split. It still glows a vivid red; whether it is still holding onto the notion of 'true love', or if it burns with the bitterness of heartbreak, is unknown... (Thank you Logue)

      GENERAL INFOMATION

      User ImageName: Callus Nathanial Killmister
      Age: Currently 32, (13th October.)
      Hometown: Durem.
      Current Residence: Durem Marina.
      Occupation: Freelance Make-up Artist. (Ex-Bounder)
Income: Works for Commission, lives comfortably.
      Educational Background:
      • Completed General Education.
      • Driving Licence / BKSB (motorcycle licence).
      • SIA (Crowd Control and Security Guarding).
      • VTCT lvl 3 in Media Make-up and Special Effects.

      APPEARANCE

Callus Nathanial Killmister was born in Durem on the 13th September 1981 and is currently thirty - two years old. Callus is a tall man, standing at a staggering six foot and three inches. He is broad shouldered and his muscles are well defined thanks to his many years serving in the private security sector. Admittedly age and sudden change in lifestyle has eaten away at his physique and even though he is out of his prime he still looks large enough to intimidate men much younger and fitter than he is. In his youth he had raven black hair which reached down to his hips but Callus now keeps it trimmed to his shoulders, a canter parting framing his rather masculine face. His jaw is square, his nose angular and his eyes surprisingly soft bringing contrast to his otherwise roughish appearance; they are a very light blue often mistaken for grey, framed by bushy eyebrows and always underlined with dark circles because of his odd sleeping habits. A few wrinkles have appeared over the years, but despite this he is often presumed to be younger than he is, an act he does not usually correct. His beard fluxgates, it is never shorter than light stubble, or longer than a couple of inches depending on his mood. He has gained some battle scars over the years and his skin has not remained untainted by the many brawls he has been a part of; he always has a bruise or a cut somewhere. However scars are not the only things decorating his skin, it is impossible to grow up in Durem without gaining a few piercings and tattoos and Callus is no exception to this rule. His ears are pierced numerous times and two reasonably sized gauges can often be seen peeking out of his hair, on his face only an eyebrow piercing remains, though if you look closely you might catch a glimpse on the one he has in his tongue. ‘No Morals’ can be read from hip to hip in thick black font, usually visible just above the waistband of his jeans. Maybe his most noticeable feature is the skull and cross bones tattooed on his neck often followed by the large snake tattoo that winds around his right arm, slightly faded and warn with time. His wardrobe is overrun by washed out, ripped and generally battered denim jeans – which are admittedly all he really wears on his lower half. He owns exactly four pairs of shoes; a large leather pair of biker boots, a set of suit shoes, a battered pair of converse and a pair of bunny slippers bought for him by his niece as a joke. He owns two coats which consist of a long leather trench coat and denim patch jacket that he kept from his years as a biker, roaming the streets with the youthful miscreants that took over the port. On his upper half he usually wears black vests and band shirts – his only accessories really been the odd pair of fingerless gloves or the odd chain hanging from his belt. He does own a suit but he is rarely ever seen in it.

      PERSONALITY

Some might call Callus the shadow of the man he once was. As a teenager he was rebellious and somewhat aggressive, always prone to getting into fights and generally causing chaos wherever he went. His grades at school were mediocre at best and many of his teachers gave up on him, concluding that he would never amount to anything in life. He went through a period of confusion and frustration when his parents divorced, during this stage of his life it is safe to say he went off the rails. This resulted in actions that he is not really proud of; his childhood is full of regret and some degree of shame. Despite this he sees his troublesome younger years as the foundations that shaped him today, and he sees the act of admitting ones mistakes and learning from them a better learning curve than making none at all. Now he is an older man he has all but abandoned his younger social circles, becoming near a recluse after a bike accident that almost ended his life, afterwards he very swiftly cut all ties he had to his past. In his early twenties he went through a very dark time, he became a solitary man and for many years he refused to wonder more than a mile away from his home in the marina. The anger that drove him for so long was lost along with most of the passion he had in him, the only comfort he found was in a bottle of whiskey as his life ticked by, days past and he remained the same. This lonesome period made him do some serious soul searching and he was only really brought out of his depression by his niece. She had moved in with him, rushing to his aid when he was at his worst. Over the next couple of years she helped him rebuild his life and put back the pieces that he thought had shattered and blown away in the wind. He found a newfound love for art and this soon developed into a new, and rather strange, career change. This new outlook on life gave him something to concentrate on and Callus no longer looks at the world with the same melancholic attitude he once did – He is now better, and completely self sufficient. Never the less he minds his own business and goes through each day as they come, working at his own passé and in his own time. Callus is a well organised man, he has a system and he sticks to it, which means jobs rarely build up and get ontop of him. Time management is just something he is naturally gifted with. His neighbours describe him as a kind man, the kind of person who you would borrow milk from, a man you would chat with when you cross paths, but never really get to know on a more personal level. His friends on the other hand would describe him as cocky, darkly humoured and rather laidback – meaning that only when he settles into a friendship do his true colours shine. Callus is the kind of person who is competitive with the people whose opinions he cares about, often mocking them with light hearted insults, usually followed by a friendly punch in the arm. Despite his rough appearance he would not harm a fly and would certainly not go out of his way to make life difficult for others, he is a good person, driven by his own moral compass that has formed through his journey. In other words he just cannot stand the thought of anyone being unhappy if he can prevent it. As you may be able to presume he is fiercely independent; meaning he is good with money, able to care for himself and he takes great pride in both his boat and his appearance. He has been around the block a couple of times and can be described as stuck in his ways, taking a very ‘been there, done that’ outlook on life, which some people find infuriating. This is mainly because he always thinks he knows what is best. Callus can come off as quite a serious fellow -until he is not- and the more you persevere with him the more of his true nature will shine through. He will never judge anyone for their mistakes (how could he?), but will happily share his experiences and give out friendly advise... if people want to hear it or not. Underneath his strong exterior lies a soft, maybe even insecure man who is scared of losing the ones he loves as much as he is letting someone get close and hurt him. He does not think he has amounted to much and now turned thirty, still unmarried and without children, has realized there is a void in his life which he is so keen, yet so terrified to fill.

      HISTORY

Callus’s childhood was mundane and ordinary. He never had the best grades in school and he was never particularly handsome, infact he was quite average in every respect. The arguments started when he was about ten and cracks started to appear in his parents’ marriage, this soon gave way to unleash a tempest which become uncontrollable. The young boy felt like the current was carrying him away and to escape the backlash he started to spend as little time at home as possible, often running away from home and seeking solace in solitude. He was a troublesome teenager, hanging around on street corners and making friends with questionable people. Callus was never scared to get into a fight and often took the frustration he felt about his fragile home-life out on other people – at this point it seemed like anger was the only thing he inherited from his parents, the only behaviour he had learned from them. He dropped out of high school, but there was no surprise there, the teachers all seemed to have given up on him long ago. So what did he do? He drunk away his youth; hanging around in bars, dabbling with mild narcotics and chasing skirt. He went from dead end job to dead end job, until he landed a contract with a security firm. He used to work on the doors at Metal Bars and Strip Clubs. It was a young person’s life-style that came to s crashing halt, quite literally. One day he was out on his bike... he cannot even remember seeing the car before it pulled out. Callus, only just in his twenties, received an injury that would change his life, even though he was lucky to survive the wreck, he was left paralysed for quite some time. It was touch and go for a little while but soon enough Callus was once again able to walk, though he still does so with a slight limp. He went through his rehab blaming his own stupidity for his injury, but instead of getting angry and grieving properly he recoiled and became a husk. His physical therapy passed before he knew it, but physiologically no progress was made and years later he stopped seeing his therapist because it did not seem to be helping, he had given up all hope and was quite happy left to his own misery. When he was twenty-six his niece, Neria, moved in with him. At first he was reluctant, he thought she pitted him, he thought she was doing it out of some obligation she felt, but this was not the case. She refused to give up on him no matter how badly he treated her and she did not do it from a sense of duty, she did it because she loved him... and that was what truly helped Callus get over his accident and start his life again. Drawing was always a hobby of his, from doodling in his schoolbooks, to doodling in hospital, to doodling when he just felt he had nothing else to do. When Neria found his drawings she talked him into starting a painting class as a way to become more sociable again and meet some new friends. His love for alternative fashion and all things zombies became apparent as his pictures often took on a grotesque nature. This quickly escalated in him creating his own fake wounds and FX make-ups, Neria usually being his canvas. He went back to finish high-school, applied to an art school and took a two year course in the art of film make-up, graduating, for once, at the top of his class. That was near enough three years ago and Callus now works in the industry - working mainly on small scale motion pictures. It is still a new career, but one that has a lot of potential. He lives in the Marina on a quite sizable boat with his niece.

EXTRA - A LITTLE BIT ABOUT NERIA

      NAME : Neria Killmister
      GENDER : Female.
      AGE : Currently 25.
      OCCUPATION : Barmaid. Aspiring Author.

Neria Killmister has always felt like she was delt shitty cards in life. Her father passed away shortly after she was born and always craved some kind of connection to him. She, unlike Callus, did very well in school but shares his interest in the gothic and unusual. It did not take long for the girl to find a job pushing papers at a local newspaper, but her true love lies in fantasy novel writting instead of articals. Around this time she entered a chain of rather bad relationships, she was always attracted to the bad boys, the ones who never treat her right. She was adament that she was trapped in an endless circle of finding the biggest a*****e imaginable and falling for them. After one rather rough break-up she found herself moving in with her mother for moral support, around that time she got a call from a Doctor Collins. It turns out that her father had a younger brother and that he was in a very bad place emotionally. After confronting her mother about the secret she had kept, she protested that Harrison's brother was no good and that there was a reason why her father chose not to introduce them. Neria, strong willed as always ignored her mothers warnings, packed her bags and went to find her uncle in hopes of learning more about her father. Doctor Collins turned out to be right. Callus was in a very bad place indeed, at first he refused to let her into his home, but after three hours waiting outside in the rain he caved. Their relationship was rocky, Callus closed up a lot and made it very difficult for Neria to bond with him. However the girl persevered and after many months of chipping away at his walls, he began to shine through. She got to know him and extention got to know more about her father. She never gave up on Callus, and after a time started to care for him very deeply, he became somewhat of a father figure aswell as an silent Gurdian Angel, though Callus would always protest she was the one to save him. They two now live together on a rather large boat-house on the Marina and Neria know writes her own material full-time but is yet to be published.

CHANGED A LOT OF HIM, SO I AM KEEPING THIS BUT IT IS NOT IMPORTANT, I DO NOT THINK.

Questions and Answers Section

How solitary is he? Being a guardian he'll need to be actively social and somewhat outgoing so your potential Raevan is able to have interactions when they're young, as they won't be able to go out and engage initially otherwise.

Haha, since chances are I am not going to get a Raevan for a while, I plan to develop Callus a bit as a character before his child even comes into it. I mean at the moment he is not very social, but I am hoping that one of his friends or a close relative gets him into online dating and kind of attempt to drag him into the world. (Which he is not going to like to begin with, but hey-ho.) That being said I hope he does make a friend who knows a bit more about Raevans, so they can point out to him his solitary nature might harm Maggie's development, and for her, he will make an effort, because that is what dads do, even if they feel uncomfortable.

You also say he's pretty set in his way, has a 'been there, done that' mentality. How will he do with a Raevan incorporated into his life? They're very much like teenagers/young adults and come with a lot of drama, growth, and not to mention (potentially) destruction. Will the disruption cause him any negative side effects? Does he have the energy to keep up? Will it drive him further into drinking? How much of a drinker is he? Do you think this will effect the Raevan adversely with a drinker guardian? It is a plausible thing, since there are parents who are drinkers, but what will this cause in his/the Raevans life?

He will sure as hell feel old when Maggie gets here, he is no spring chicken! At times he might not be able to keep up, but that is part of his charm to me. He is not really a drinker, I mean he does have a glass or two on a night, but not enough to actually get hammered - it is far more casual than that. He goes drink more at bars, but that is a rare occurrence (When I refereed him to having one two many in the bio, I did do so with the image of him drinking at a bar and giving strangers life lessons!) - I am sure he will drink away his troubles with Maggie occasionally though. Maybe that could be fun though. Maybe if Maggie ever gets into his stash and does something stupid it could get him to stop. Maybe she will have to tuck him in once or twice. I would not say his drinking makes him irresponsible though.

Also, I see he likes Taxidermy. That's cool! Does this translate to a lot of stuffed animals (heads) in his boat or does he engage in taxidermy himself?

He does not do it himself. BUT HIS HOME IS FILLED WITH DEAD THINGS. Heads, Horns, Statues. Maybe a hunting trophy or two? <3

And speaking of his boat, how big is it? Does it have room for two? Would he plan to move out? What drove him to live on a boat? Provide us with some visual references! Anything to help create a better picture of who he is/what his life is like.

The boat he lives on is a house boat, plenty of room for two. I will make sure to get ref soon! ; D but who knows, maybe he will get a house one day! Anything is possible and I am not ruling anything out!

Alrighty, so to quell the fears of short and simple - I approve! Very nicely written and you get a good impression of Callus throughout the whole thing without a lot of "extra". Same thing with his history. I do have some questions though.

How solitary is he? Being a guardian he'll need to be actively social and somewhat outgoing so your potential Raevan is able to have interactions when they're young, as they won't be able to go out and engage initially otherwise.

You also say he's pretty set in his way, has a 'been there, done that' mentality. How will he do with a Raevan incorporated into his life? Just some initial thoughts/questions to ponder over! I hope this helps some. c:

The boat he lives on is a house boat, plenty of room for two. I will make sure to get ref soon! ; D but who knows, maybe he will get a house one day! Anything is possible and I am not ruling anything out!

JUST TO SHOW YOU GUYS I AM STILL WORKING ON s**t REALLY.

--- rambles down idea's. like i know this is a WIP still, but i really want to get Callus PERFECT before i go about fixing Magdalene. since you know, he is her daddy and he is gonna shape her!

--- GENERAL INFOMATION ---

--- PERSONALITY ---

Some might call Callus the shadow of the man he once was. As a teenager he was rebellious and somewhat aggressive, always prone to getting into fights and generally causing chaos wherever he went. His grades at school were mediocre at best and many of his teachers gave up on him, concluding that he would never amount to anything in life. He went through a period of confusion when his parents divorced and during this stage of his life it is safe to say he went off the beaten track on his journey to discover himself. This resulted in some actions that he is not really proud of when looking back at the man he once was. Despite this he sees his troublesome younger years as the foundations that shaped him today and he sees the act of admitting ones mistakes and learning from them a better learning curve than making none at all. Now he is an older man he has all but abandoned his younger social circles, becoming near a recluse after a bike accident that almost ended his life and very swiftly cut all ties he had to his past. In his early twenties he went through a very dark time, he became a solitary man, almost a recluse and for many years he refused to wonder more than a mile away from his home in the marina. The anger that drove him for so long was lost as was most of the passion he had in him, the only comfort he found was in a bottle of whiskey as his life ticked by. This lonesome period made him do some serious soul searching and was only really brought out of his depression by his niece who moved in with him, rushing to his aid when he was at his worst. Over the next couple of years she helped him rebuild his life and put back together the pieces that he thought had shattered and blown away in the wind. He found a newfound love for art and this soon developed into a new, and rather strange, career change. This new outlook on life gave him something to concentrate on and Callus now does not look at the world with the same melancholic attitude he once did – He is now better, and completely self sufficient. His friends on the other hand would describe him as cocky, darkly humours and rather laidback – meaning that only when he settles into a friendship do his true colours shine. Callus is the kind of person who is competitive with the people whose opinions he cares about, often mocking them with light heated insults as a show of affection, usually followed by a friendly punch in the arm. He has been around the block a couple of times and can be described as stuck in his ways, taking a very ‘been there, done that’ outlook on life which some people find infuriating because he always thinks he knows what is best. He does not think he has amounted to much and now turned thirty, still unmarried and without children has left a void which he is so keen, yet so terrified to fill. He will not let his disability ruin his life.

--- HISTORY ---

[Prologue: No Morals :: The Song of Kindred Spirits]

Callus’s childhood was mundane and ordinary. He never had the best grades in school and he was never particularly handsome, infact he was quite average in every respect. The arguments started when he was about ten. Cracks started to appear in his parents’ marriage that soon gave way to unleash a tempest which then becomes uncontrollable. The young boy felt like the current was carrying him away and to escape the backlash he started to spend as little time at home as possible often running away from home and seeking solace in solitude. He was a troublesome teenager, hanging around on street corners and making friends with questionable people. Callus was never scared to get into a fight and often took the frustration he felt about his fragile home-life out on other people – at this point it seemed like anger was the only thing he inherited from his parents, the only behaviour he learned from them. He dropped out of high school, but there was no surprise there, the teachers all seemed to have given up on him long ago. So what did he do? He drunk away his youth; hanging around in bars, dabbling with mild narcotics and chasing skirt. He went from dead end job to dead end job, until he landed a contract with a security firm that he worked with till the day his old life came to an end. He used to work on the doors in metal bars and strip clubs. It was a young person’s life-style that came to s crashing halt, quite literally. One day he was out on his bike... he cannot even remember seeing the car before it pulled out. Callus, only just in his received an injury that would change his life, even though he was lucky to survive the wreck and the fall, he was not lucky enough to keep all his limbs as he leg was mangled beyond the point of saving due to his lack to safety gear. He went through his rehab blaming his own stupidity for his injury, but instead of getting angry and grieving properly he recoiled and became a husk. His physical therapy passed before he knew it, but physiologically no progress was made and years later he stopped seeing his therapist because he did not seem to be helping. When he was twenty-four his niece, Neria, moved in with him. Drawing was always a hobby of his, to doodling in his schoolbooks, to doodling in hospital, to doodling when he just felt he had nothing else to do. He applied to an art school and took a two year course in the art of film make-up, graduating, for once, at the top of his class. That was near enough three years ago and Callus now works in the industry working on small scale motion pictures. It is still a new career, but one that has a lot of potential. He lives in the Marina on a quite sizable boat with his niece.

Colours of the Wind - A bottle filled with a rather strange substace. When it is dorcile, settled and stationary it appears to be a very thick black fog - It is when this essence is mobile that the real fun starts. As it begins to move the black disipates into a light blue, the speed at which it is moving can be relatable to a gentle breeze. As it picks up seed the colour changes through the purple colour spectrum before finally settling into a bright magenta at its strongest, at a speed relatable to a strong gale, before settling back into black as it once again becomes stationary. It is as beautiful as it is mindboggling.
Soul - Spilosoma congrua. ( Also known as the Agreeable Tiger Moth )

HI SO HERE IS THE LAME ESSENCE IDEA
It's my "other" essence in my quest thread, but I'm not overly attached to it so I figured I'd see if you liked it at all. Not sure how you feel about it paired with Black Dog, but HEY WHO KNOWS GONNA TOSS IT OUT THERE ANYWAY BECAUSE ESSENCES ARE HARD

String of Fate

Legends say there is a red string tied around your finger that you cannot see or feel. It is indefinitely long and can reach around the world if it needs to, because the other end is tied around the finger of your true love. However, this string is broken, a fragment of the thread that once connected none other than Freyr and Shira, before the untimely death lead to its split. It still glows a vivid red; whether it is still holding onto the notion of 'true love', or if it burns with the bitterness of heartbreak, is unknown...

AWRIGHT BIKI I AM HERE TO BRAINSTORM WITH YOU BECAUSE I WAS READING WAY BACK IN THE THREAD AND SAW YOU SAID YOU WORK BEST WHEN YOU'RE BOUNCING IDEAS OFF OF SOMEONE SO HERE I AM

also I feel really terrible about you quitting with the Black Dog quest, it's all my fault. QAQ I don't know if you even need to stop questing it, since yeah wolves and dogs are similar in genes and whatnot but I feel they're different enough! I mean, we have several species of birds, for example! I know there's the Puka (did I spell that right? oh idk) soul, where Kyou took the physical traits from its Doberman form, but... idkkkk I mean Black Dogs are basically Hell Hounds are basically demon dogs, right? So you could go a lot of ways with that! //cries

If you don't feel like pursuing that soul anymore, then do you have any other ideas circulating, or do you want me to try to help you think of something interesting and cool? qAq

I am sorry this took me so long to respond to! I really did not mean to leave it so long I just forgot. Which makes me want to cry because that just makes it seem like I am annoyed with you and I really REALLY am not. ILU.

I have a few idea's in my head at the moment. Like some kind of moth soul which would be cool, there is one kind of moth that it am omen of death in certain countries and when it lands in your house everyone freaks out. I have been considering some Youkai too. Like the Lantern ghost because Japanese Mythology is the best <333333

I do really love the Essence idea you gave me though, it is so romantic it makes me wanna vomit, its perfect ~
