                  The Common Slave Quarters

Upon leaving the front lobby with the bellboy as a guide, you will be taken over to a pair of doors to your right. The doors have signs above them stating where they go, the first door showing it leads to the ground floor and up to the third floor only, the next door saying it leads to the fourth floor up to the sixth. Depending on where the slave or slaves of your choice reside, you will be lead down either door only to be greeted by a guard waiting to take you to the first room on your list - if you have a list that is.

You are allowed to sit in the luxury rooms with the slave and talk, get to know them and see if they are right for you. You are not allowed to be intimate in these rooms, and under no circumstance must you let a slave out on it's own. A slave must only leave the room if it being purchased by you, or if a guard is escorting it to the basement rooms to be held in isolation for bad behaviour.

Contents of the Upper East Block:
                  - Altered Humans - cursed, engineered, half-robot etc.
                  - Vampires.
                  - Werewolves, and other were-animals alike.
                  - Nekomimi's, Usagimimi's, and other -mimi's alike (so Neko's, bunny girls, dog-girls etc.)
                  - Kitsunes, Nogitsunes, etc.
                  - Witches, Sorcerers, Spell-casters and the like.
                  - more may be added here -

Another day, another long day, more wasted time. The shapeshifter was up before dawn, a habit that was hard to break even when there was no reason to get up. There was nothing to do, nowhere to go, no one to even talk to. The maid or whoever it was that brought in breakfast and came to take laundry away or back, all washed and folded, never spoke to her, giving her a quiet sort of smile and nothing else. So every day Asten just sat looking out the window, sometimes skimming through a book that was in the room, but never really able to concentrate. There was just one worry in her mind and the more time she spent here, the more it bothered her.

How many chances was a slave given?

She was undesireable, they said, a singer who wouldn't sing, who would barely talk anymore. The perky, bouncy bird she'd used to be had long been smothered by depression and fear and she hated that she wasn't who she used to be. She missed sinking, being happy, flying and swimming - having some sense of freedom. Besides, hadn't they ever heard that a caged bird doesn't sing? She had tried to escape once, when she was first captured, shifting into her swan form to beat the man grabbing her. They'd broken both her wings and she hadn't done a thing since. What was the point?

This was actually the nicest place she'd ever been. Asten hadn't had many masters at all, truth be told, not a one. Every time someone tried to buy her before, she simply wouldn't sing, which was the reason for their purchase, and she'd be returned before they even arrived at the master's home. The process was repeated a few times before she was dumped from market to market and ending up here seemed like a stroke of luck. No one yelled at her, at least. But how long would they keep her before deciding she was unsellable, a waste of money...and what did they do to slaves they couldn't sell? She didn't want to think about it, but she couldn't help it, sitting alone in her room all the time.

The sun was barely over the horizon when she heard footsteps. Asten turned her head in surprise when they drew closer to her room - no one had come to see her since she'd been brought here...three weeks ago, was it? It was hard for her to keep track of time, without a clock or calender here, wherever here was. Not that it really mattered, since it was all sort of the same to her. There was nothing more she wanted than to get some freedom, to find someone nice to go with, but that seemed like a pipe dream after four years of slavery and nothing to show for it but some scars. Well, they probably were just walking past anyway, no one came into her room and she didn't expect anyone too. Besides, it was too early for really anyone else to be up and about, even the maid didn't come in with breakfast for another...hour? Two hours? Asten shrugged, returning to watching the sun rise, and jumped off her seat when she heard a key turn in her lock.

                                Her lock.

Someone was...coming in? Quickly getting to her feet, not liking anything behind her - she was still technically a bird and had the senses of something used to being prey for larger animals - Asten clasped her hands in front of her and watched as the guard let someone in before shutting the door behind them. There was a wary look in her eyes. Despite her depression and sadness, there was no defeat, no meekness in her eyes - she was still a strong, bouncy bird underneath it all.

He was nervous, oh so very nervous about all of this, it was practically scary to be in a place like this, so many buildings towered over him, casting long and large shadows that covered the entirety of his form. He was dressed in overbearing and hot clothing, despite being in the warm climate he felt more comfortable this way, his body temperature naturally high it wouldn't be bothered by the heat around him. His body moving fairly slow though as he remained tensed up, he wasn't used to being around this many looming towers of death, not to mention cars and people talking on....what are those? Cell phones? Is that what the children called them? They were odd machines you put to your ear to make communication. He preferred the knocks on wood when they were in the forest, it was much more peaceful, being able to smell the earth and the fresh air, rather then the stagnant smoke filled air around him. A groan escaped his dark lips as he would glance around to look for this place he was supposed to go to.

People stepped around and avoided the dark skinned male, his outfit was something anyone would find odd in this day and age, a teal wrap was secured around his head, strange tribal markings covered it in a lighter blue, it was very pretty despite the fact it kept heat as compared to releasing it, a gray tank top was under a large blue tunic with a winter coat on top of that, the tunic and the coat containing the same tribal markings on it, and well a normal pair of blue slacks that were pushed up by a pair of boots designed for hiking. His outfit generally screamed he lived in the mountains, and well his general nervous stature around all these unfamiliar surroundings made him even more unnatural. Sure he went to school, but the town he was in was small so no large business buildings or tall towers, just a small place, very few cars, it was nice and peaceful. He felt much more calm there then here, he still couldn't believe he was here, and had to ride that large airplane that was definitely trying to send him into shock with all that rumbling. Silver eyes flitted about looking around for that sign that he would recognize the second he saw it. Liam walked along the streets slowly still looking for that place that his brother had marked out, he would grimace in complaint as everything seemed to meld together, then finally that pretty little sign showed itself to him.

Breaking into a run he would thunder towards the doors and easily burst in, cold air washed over him and he would welcome in gladly as he would look around for someone of authority. Half his journey was over finally, and now he just needed to pick someone out and, well he was tired actually, he might have to spend a night before he could go back. The thought made him grimace, but he would let it pass by as he walked up to the desk, "Hello sir, who are you looking for today?" the nice lady would ask, "Ah...um....I dunno. Can you direct me to....somewhere that would fit a rural area?" he'd question. The lady would smile and point off towards a door to the right, he would blink and nod easily walking over to the door only to be greeted by a guard, "Good day." the man would say fairly gruffly, "Anything specific your lookin' fer?" the man questioned as he would start walking down the hallway, "Uh....I guess someone easy to handle...nice would be preferred?" he'd mumble trying to be polite and act like he was knowledgeable with the English language, though he was fairly rough with it and liked to shorten things, he had to act sophisticated in front of all the city people right?

The guard would lead him past many doors before finally stopping before one, Liam merely stared at the door before it was opened, he would peer in and look to see a young woman with brown hair and fair skin, he blinked and looked back at the guard who closed the door behind him fairly hastily, "Urk- uh.....I-I ain't intudin' am I?" he questioned turning to look back to the young lady, "Erm I'm Liam, your really pretty ya know? Not that you wouldn't be, cause like well...all girls are pretty right? Uh..." he'd mumble clearly nervous and unsure of what to do with himself, "I uh- I dunno what to really say, ta be honest I don't like the city...am I talkin' too much?" he'd rattle on a bit before pausing and leaning against the door looking guilty suddenly. His emotions were in a hazy confusion, too much in one day made him feel a bit nervous and well this new experience made it even more difficult to cope with. Liam was hoping he didn't scare the girl too much with how he looked, or how he was talking, or just by being present.

Her own golden eyes widened in surprise as he came in, not expecting someone like him. Well, in truth she didn't know what to expect at all, but she had never seen someone like the man coming into the room and proceeding to stammer around nervously. Asten was a bit confused why he'd be nervous, tilting her head to the side in a gesture that was eerily bird-like, before her hands moved behind her rather than defensively in front of her. She didn't get the feeling that he would hurt her, at least, and that helped her relax a little bit. Hearing something about intruding and then about how he didn't like the city, a smile appeared on her lips and while she didn't take a step forward, she leaned forward just a touch towards him, as if inspecting him, taking his measure.

"You aren't intruding. It's nice having company so early, hardly any likes to get up now," she told him, forcing herself to sound cheerful. It wasn't that she wasn't glad to have company - it was just so strange to be happy that it was hard to actually sound like it. "And you aren't talking too much at all, I like listening. Your accent is different, I've never heard it before, but it's nice to listen to," she added matter-of-factly, giving him a shy smile of her own as she moved from foot to foot, almost nervously, but not quite. This was something new - and his eyes! He seemed human to her, from what she could sense, but did humans have silver eyes? Her own were odd, she knew, but she wasn't human, so that made sense. Her sleeves, long and hanging past her fingertips, would have hidden how tightly her fingers were clasped together even if they weren't behind her back already. Was this her chance to get out of here? Maybe he'd be nice?

To be honest, the swan had surprised herself, speaking so much. It was more than she'd said in months and had just sort of...come out. But there was something about this young man, he looked about her age, that made her breath a little easier. He didn't smell like the city, he smelled like...like outdoors, but not like a park. Like when she went flying and would go over woods, almost. Something different and it made her curious. Asten was a bird, curious, and attracted to shiny things - it was the reason she didn't wear any jewelry, as she would get too busy playing with it to pay attention to much else at all. She was giving him the same look she would give a shiny, her attention completely focused on him as she tried to puzzle out what was going on. She had heard the compliment, but didn't know what to make of it, so let it be.

Realizing she'd just started talking back and not even introduced herself, she straightened a bit. "I'm sorry, I didn't even tell you my name," she apologized, knowing that was rude and she'd be scolded for it, if she stayed here. "My name is Asten," she said bluntly, not telling him what she was. She would if he asked, but she never just volunteered that information to anyone anymore. Some people wanted to experiment on her, others wanted her to just change at will. And while she could, and often did, she hated doing it in front of people and inside a building. Having her wings and not being able to fly...it was more depressing than everything else, so she simply didn't shift and give herself that false hope.

Liam was feeling a bit nauseous at the moment, all the excitement pouring into his body and then all the fear and anxiety, it was the weirdest bunch of feelings he ever had rumbling through his body. Though he favored, hunger, exhaustion and the need to sleep over this feeling right now, after all those could be easily sated and make him feel amazingly better. These feelings were hard to suppress and ease though, he would watch the girl quietly as she would put her arms behind her and then tilt her head, he thought back to how sparrows would often sit on the window cill of his home early in the morning, pecking at the bird seed left out on a small plate for them to eat, they often twisted their heads like that when they were searching for anything that may come up on them as well as to in general look around. He would blink at the connection to that and shrug it off, he didn't know if people generally did that though, maybe it was just because he was odd and she did that because that's how city people judged others? Maybe he made a bad impression?! Did he really talk too much to her?! Did he upset her by just being here!? Frantic thoughts of fear and stress wrecked his mind as the girl seemed to be mainly calm and in fact smiling, he was probably being over dramatic and just reacting like an idiot, well he hoped he was anyways.

When the girl started to speak he would look to her eyes wide in anticipation of a scolding of some sort, despite his sisters being younger then him, he often got beaten up by them. Liam didn't hit girls, he was trained thoroughly by his mother and father to not hit them, no matter what, and if he did, he would face the most terrible consequences put forth by nature. When she didn't raise her voice towards him he would literally drop to the floor and relax, back against the door and head resting against it. She seemed fairly happy to have him here and that just eased his feelings of anxiety about being in her presence, he didn't want to upset someone by being in their personal space. Listening intently as he would spread his legs out some on the floor and seem to loosen up, "Really? Do I sound strange?" he questioned seeming slightly shocked, "I was tryna be all...ya know educated and stuff, but I don't think I pull it off dat well." he'd state smiling in a goofy way. It was nice to find a woman that wouldn't beat his a** for intruding and well being like he was.

He would open his eyes as he would notice her moving from foot to foot like she was nervous, was he bothering her? No she already said he wasn't, or maybe she was being nice to spare his feelings? He didn't know but he felt a sense of guilt biting at the back of his mind from not escorting himself out and trying again. Though his thoughts were easily distracted by her eyes, they were a pretty color, like when the sunset and it cast that nice gold over the horizon, or when they collected honey from the natural beehives around the area, they were just nice to look at. She was returning his stare now, they were both evaluating each other, and for some reason he started to laugh, "Hehe...hehehe!" he'd smile again looking happy, "I thought that city folk would eat me alive, but your pretty nice, so far." he'd say with a smile complimenting her again as he would stare up at her. She wasn't all that intimidating, but neither were his sisters, who knew maybe she could toss him across the room and not even break a sweat doing so, now that wouldn't be surprising. Sometimes he thought his sisters were part bear.

When she seemed to shift he would blink and start to look curious, she would apologize for not introducing herself, he would smile as she would give her name fairly flatly, "It's no big deal, I started talking really fast so I'm not mad! But uh its nice to meet you Asten!" he'd say carefully standing up and walking a few steps forward and taking a half bow with his arm extended away from his chest towards the floor, somewhat like a formal bow, "Erm, so....I feel kinda embarrassed to ask this, but uh, your not gonna kill me in my sleep are you? I mean like, I wouldn't blame you if ya did, but I got family at home who are waiting for me- I'd like to introduce you to them, well tomorrow...cause like...its far away..." he'd say as he would stand straight looking at her with a bright smile, "O-or unless you need some time to think about it, I mean your clearly not a bad person right? I wouldn't blame you for saying no...maybe I'm comin' on too strong?" he'd question trying to evaluate if this was generally right or wrong.

Asten couldn't help but giggle a bit when he flopped to the floor like that. It was silly and oddly normal, though she remained standing herself. Her skirts hung loosely down to the floor, flowing down from her hips and hiding her bare foot. She'd never liked pants or shoes and wore them as little as possible. It just didn't feel right, being so confined in them, she liked things loose and comfortable. Her smile widened when she saw his own goofy grin and wondered what he was doing here. He didn't seem to be the usual sort of man that came to look at her, or any other slaves she had seen in other markets. Maybe he was sent here by someone? That wasn't that unusual and she tipped her head again as she thought on it, starting a bit when he laughed. If she'd had feathers they would have fluffed out in surprise. As it was she simply looked at him with wide eyes, trying to figure out why he was laughing and what was so funny. When he said she was nice, she relaxed a bit more again.

There was really no need for her to be scared of him, at least not if he was human. While she hardly possessed super-strength, not shifting into some powerful sort of creature, Asten was still tougher than a human, able to fall further and take hits without injury, and had a ridiculous sense of balance that used to give her mother heart attacks when she would walk on the railings of the balcony as if it was nothing at all. She should have joined the circus, she thought ruefully sometimes, it would have been more entertaining. He still hadn't introduced himself at all, as she'd hoped he would have after being told her name, and she looked at him curiously as he did an odd sort of bow to her. Another quiet laugh escaped her when he asked if she was going to kill him in his sleep - she wasn't a violent sort of person at all and it took quite a lot to get her the least bit ruffled, much less angry.

When he continued to ask if she'd mind going with him, Asten blinked in surprise. That was something new for her and she wasn't quite sure how to respond. "I...I don't really have a choice," she reminded him hesitantly, not sure if he really understood how this worked or if he was trying to be polite. But she didn't like having the illusion of choice when in truth, she didn't have any say in this at all. "If you want me to go with you, I have to, it doesn't matter what I want." Thinking on it, she tipped her head again, leaning a bit forward once more as she took a cautious step forward. "You know, you could tell me your name," Asten prompted him. "And maybe what you want me for? And then I could tell you if I want to go with you or not. I like you," she continued cheerfully, making a decision as to whether or not he was the sort of person she'd go home with and not make a fuss. Certainly he didn't seem to be cruel and the swan was generally a good judge of character. She trusted her instincts and they told her he wouldn't hurt her, wouldn't be mean or cruel or abusive. Just by how he talked about his family, mentioning them at all, she could tell he probably didn't live alone then, which might be nice.

Brushing some hair from her golden eyes, she fixed him an unblinking stare that often made people nervous. She didn't even try to do it, it just happened. Normally she would be much more hyper, full of smiles and laughing and excitement at the prospect of going new places. But her experiences over the years had made her far more cautious of things and taken away some of that. Asten was genuinely curious as to why he'd want a slave, though, since he didn't seem to know the first thing about how this worked. Or acted like he'd done this before, so maybe he wasn't working for someone? A master wouldn't send someone inexperienced on their own to get a slave, she reasoned, unless it didn't matter to them. Questions filled her mind and she patiently watched him, waiting for answers.

OOC: You're good! It goes in good with his personality and it isn't like you're dragging her out the door already, haha.

Liam felt particularly exhausted right now, but the excitement was keeping him going right at this moment, he had taken a plane all the way here, walked from the airport all the way here due to his hatred of riding in cars, then rushed into here without taking much of a break. He was surprised he didn't fall asleep when he felt the comforting allure of just sitting down for a little bit, it would be odd to sleep in this room suddenly though, not to mention it would be rude of him to do so as well. He looked to her again watching her, she was dressed nicely, and she also seemed really nice too. The kids would definitely like her, maybe she had interesting games to play with them as well, she seemed like someone who might like kids. Thoughts trailed back to home as he wondered how the kids would react to a newcomer, that made him curious, they enjoyed rough housing with him, but he wasn't sure how they would treat a girl. Hopefully they weren't too excited and started dragging on her right away, now that he was thinking about it, what would the women think? He grasped at straws on what women even thought about when eating other women, they were always nice to him. The mothers and grand mothers tended to tease him...often...that made him feel a bit awkward, hopefully they didn't tease Miss Asten if he took her back with him.

Hearing a soft laugh as he would ask his weird question he would smile a little glad that she didn't seem offended by the question itself, but amused by it. When she mentioned she really didn't have a choice he would stare at her blankly, clearly bewildered by what she meant by that, 'What does she mean? Everyone's gotta choice...even when they don't think they do...I think....man this is difficult..." he thought feeling a bit stressed out by that thought alone. When she continued and emphasized on it all depended on him he would grimace looking a bit sad, he didn't want her to really think that way, but then again this place wasn't exactly an actual hotel, it was like a pet shop. So technically she was like a puppy, who he could buy whether the puppy liked him or not, but he wasn't like that, he would make sure someone was comfortable before taking them or well any living thing. He would rub his chin as she would ask his name and then what he wanted her for, as well as saying she would make a choice, and liking him. That made him smile.

"I thought I introduced myself- I'm Liam, Liam Nirliq. I'm the uh...I guess Chief of my tribe." he'd state offering a title considering that was what he was generally supposed to do. He would stop and think for a moment about why he was here again, "Uh...my brother sent me here...cause I need a caretaker- well he says "baby sitter" but I dunno why. I mean I ain't bad right? Though I slack off a little....and I like to put off work and play with the kids...okay maybe I do need a babysitter..." he'd mumble blushing a little as he rubbed the back of his head, he left out the over working part and how he sometimes got sick because he tended to do what he was doing now, keep going until he would literally pass out. He would look to her with a smile, "And uh...I know you think you don't have a choice, but if you didn't want to go with me, I wouldn't force ya. I ain't like that." he'd attempt to reassure her offering a polite smile.

This whole slave thing was completely new to him, he hadn't taken the realization that a slave wasn't generally supposed to keep the master in check and it was actually the other way around. Not like the tribesman knew any better though, he was too naive to be in the city, the most he knew was how to take care of his tribe and those who wished to be part of it. In fact he didn't realize that some of the people here were magical at all, it would be a shock to him to find out anyone could do anything super natural. When he noticed the stare he was being given his eyes would widen, the pale silver lines that marked out where his eyes actually were became barely visible. He looked a bit freaked out by the stare, did he have something on his face? Liam touched his face checking if he had eaten something, or maybe something was lop sided, he had no idea, he was just really worried about it now. Looking unnerved he would meet her stare, "S-somethin' wrong Miss Asten?" he'd ask looking fairly put off by the unyielding stare she had fixed him with.

Asten nodded as he finally introduced himself. She'd been so surprised at having someone there that she'd missed his earlier words of who he was, to be honest, but was content with finding out now. Listening to his explanation, she blinked in confusion. Usually masters took care of slaves, or at least kept them in check. And the slaves that did care for their masters...usually the master was sick or old or something of that sort. What, was she supposed to boss him around or something and make him do his work? A slave didn't do that, at least not that she knew about. They did what they were told and never backtalked. Although the entire situation appealed to her, it was so odd. And nothing like what she had expected. He didn't want a pet or for her to sing to him at his beck and call, he just wanted someone to...watch him? She could do that, she knew, still not shifting. She blinked once when he said he wouldn't make her go if she didn't want to, thinking that bit over.

Startled out of her thoughts when he asked if something was wrong, her expression relaxed and the stare went away. "Nothing's wrong," the swan reassured him with a smile, her posture relaxing as she swung her arms a few times before clasping them behind her back again. It was a habitual pose for her, perhaps due to how a swan tucked their wings up and back. She'd never really thought about it before. It seemed she did have a choice and Asten turned over the ideas slowly in her mind. She could go with him and take her chances that he was as he seemed - a decent sort of human being. Then the cookie would crumble as it would and she'd be stuck either way. Or she could stay here and see what they did to a slave no one wanted, or see if someone else came by to buy her. And she knew the odds of the latter happening were slim; the chances that they would be kind seemed next to nothing.

Well, it seemed her decision was made for her, since the other choices all sucked and she was tired of this. Maybe this would be better. "I'll go with you," she told him cheerfully, nodding her head as she bounced up on the balls of her feet happily. Asten didn't know the first thing about him, or where he lived, or anything, but didn't even care. It had to be better than this place and she wanted to seize this opportunity before it flew away.

Or someone broke her wings again.
