Welcome although you've come to a guild that's pretty much dead.
As for how to RP that is something that you sort of develop on your own in your own way and style.
The best way to learn is to just join a RP that isn't too advanced literate as in requiring six paragraphs per entry but at least literate enough so that you aren't picking up a bunch of bad habits.
Barton Town in the forums has plenty and even if they do not last long you'll get a bit of experience.
If you don't want to deal with a group or they are too fast for you seek out an 1x1 rp. There are plenty of people looking to rp 1x1 although I can't promise you that their intentions are all that pure.
If you tell them that you're a newbie at this they will understand and help you as long as you are willing to learn.

Also I will give you a few hints.
*There is no one right way to RP. One may be more into heavy details while another may be more inclined to heavier dialog.
*Before joining a RP be sure to check on the structure of the RP. Like which person point of view they have it. Most do it in third person point of view with words in quotations such as you usually see in books.
*Take all critiques with a pinch of salt and don't take it too personally.
If someone says something to you that ticks you off don't reply to them with insults. If you need to walk away from the situation for a moment to calm down then do it. Once you've gotten over your anger/frustration reply to them civilly.
Not all people will be helpful. Some will be downright insulting to you because they believe that they are the best of the best and you are nothing but a lowly newbie or in their minds a noob (does anyone say that anymore outside of COD?). You might even encounter the "noob" who thinks that they are better than you.
These people you may not be able to reason with and are better off just leaving them to go elsewhere. Trust me we've all encountered a good number of them.
