Aatami stretched out against the trunk of a small tree on the river bank, kicking his bare feet into the air before tucking them under his dirty pants. It was a great day for napping, but as usual, the two Eevee's were out trying to provide for themselves. It had been a stroke of luck that Aatami had found a pair of fishing rods...on the road...in the back of a jeep...He felt awful about the entire affair, but really, they had four! If the campers knew the twins' circumstances then they would have given them over gladly, right?

"Are you having any luck, Truffles?" His dark green eyes shifted over towards his sister, his pole lazily stuck in between some tree roots and rocks. So far he'd only managed to snag one fish, and it was being roasted on the little fire they'd managed to build.

Aatami dug around in his pockets for an acorn, almost subconsciously, so strong was his addiction until...He frantically started digging though his pockets and started to pat his legs, ears flipped back against his. Aatami groaned and pouted. "...when did I eat them all?" He whined.

He was in a rotten mood. There had been a storm a few days back and lightning had struck his beautiful tree and set it on fire, charring the amazing home he'd found within had been burnt to a crisp, his belongings along with. He'd been lucky to get out with himself, the clothes on his back and his crown though it hadn't come out unscathed looking a little battered much like himself.

The fact he was barefooted in the woods perturbed him. Things were squishing between his toes and beneath his feet. He'd had various bugs crawl on him and bite at him. More annoying was the perpetual hunger. He hadn't been able to scavenge much to eat since then, he was too hungry to get food quietly, and berries just didn't satisfy the way something meaty and fleshy would.

All but stomping at this point a low muttered string of annoyance streaming from his lips, Chism came upon a river. "Great...a river." he huffed and started to stomp up along it, water splashing up his legs and wetting his pants. Better them than his tail but still! His pants were getting muddy...they were already stained and frayed in a few spots, this was unacceptable!

....what was that smell? That delicious....mouth watering...smell? Chism let his stomach be his guide and came about the twins fishing, and his eyes narrowed thoughtfully. Hearing the male eevee whining over something...ugh...annoying. Chism spotted some acorns laying on the ground around the tree he'd paused by and kicked one with a well aimed kick sending it skittering along the ground and stopping next to Aatami. That was one way to alert them someone important was in their midst!

Ears twitching, Truffles rolled her head so that she could look at her brother while leaving the weight on the ground. She tossed him a small smile. "I know. ..At least we tried."

When she saw Aatami's nerves rise, she quickly sat up and stared at the moving acorn. Only when her brother called out did she bother looking over to spy the yellow boy. Always one to react before finding a fact, she jumped to her feet and pushed her hat back from her forehead. "Oy! No sneakin' up on us!" she growled, standing defensively next to her brother.

Even as Truffles made her stand, Aatami stood by, awkwardly shifting behind his sister and her jumpstart attitude. He couldn't help frowning at her. One of these days she was going to pick on the wrong person, and then what?

"I'm sorry, we should have been paying more attention." Which was true. If he'd known this kid was coming sooner he would have hid. "Do you...do you know how to fish, then?" Aatami didn't even notice the way Chism was eyeing his fish; not that he could, when he wouldn't meet the hybrid's gaze.

Was this kid always so easy to subdue? It made Chism smirk a little at the idea...he'd make a good little underling...the girl though, well she was spunky. Spunky could be good too. Maybe...if she wasn't too annoyingly so...

"Yeah I know how to fish want me to show you how kid?" he stalked forward and paused by Truffles. "I was trying to make sure I didn't scare you by just sort of storming forward or calling out. I figured something subtle would be better. Something tells me you don't understand subtlety well."

He breezed by them and plucked up one of the poles. "No bait..should have known." he walked over to the dirt and kicked at it with his feet, and bent to retrieve a worm he saw trying to crawl back into the dirt and quickly threaded it onto the hook. At least they had that!

"Now watch...." the line was cast and he held it quietly...patiently....and after a bit there was a jerk and he carefully reeled the fish in. Still about the size of the one Aatami was holding but a fish. "Bait, it makes a difference." he pulled the fish out and held it out. "Here cook this. I'll get more. Try not to burn this one like you did the last."

Huffing softly again, Truffles crossed her arms and glared at the stranger. Who was he, coming in and taking charge of everything? She didn't like it one bit. "Subtlety is something dumb people use to act smarter than everyone else," she grumped quietly to Aatami under her breath.

But.. the guy had already caught a fish... She'd been about to go crazy from sitting in one place so long trying to catch one of the slippery buggers. She was so hungry... Sighing, she settled down a little and took the fish to the fire. "Here. I'll cook this one. You can watch how the yellow guy fishes, Aatami." She didn't know the shiny's name, and she didn't care to find out what it was. He could help them all eat, but then he would have to go. She was taking care of her brother and herself. She didn't want someone else getting close to Aatami just to abandon the meek eevee when he grew tired of them...

"Ooh," Aatami frowned, looking more than a little concerned. Subtly didn't sound like something he wanted anything to do with, so why was Chism using it? He didn't seem stupid.

"Alright, if you say so," Even though he gave a weak smile to Chism, it wasn't clear whether he had talked to his sister or the yellow Poke-child. Both had pretty much guided him to fish, and so fish he would! "My name's Aatami, and the girl by the first is my twin sister, Truffles." He turned a bit to point her out, as if Chism hadn't seen her, before turning back to Chism. He crouched down beside him, or as close as he dared to get, and nodded. Fish didn't seem like such bad people, and if he wasn't so hungry, he would have let them go.

Gently, he dug around in the ground for a worm and with a perplexed face, place the poor thing on the end of the other rods hook before giving the line a toss into the water.

Was the eevee boy always so meek? Well with a sister who seemed ready to take charge like his maybe that made sense. He shook his head lightly in wonder though. He'd never met such a meek person before. "Truffles, and Aatami alright. Yes I know where she is, no need to point her out."

Honestly.

He focused on the fishing and pulled one off his hook again and walked it to Truffles. "Here's another one for you to cook Truffles." and he held it out to her then, watching the fish cooking evenly. "You do a better job of that than your brother." the compliment was given with a tight smile, but he did mean well by it. He didn't give compliments often.

"Any luck Aatami?" he was right behind the boy as he spoke and bent to get another worm glad for the damp ground at this point.
