Dyakida wasn't in a rush when she stepped into Andile this time. In fact, she was planning on staying the day here, at the very least. She was travelling through here to the isles where she had commissions to drop off- her first real ones since achieving her unusual rank within the tribe. Not including her staff, of course. She ran her fingers along the familiar carvings. No, her staff was special. It didn't count. She rested against a tree, letting Peyla flutter around as she listened to the bustle of the large settlement and felt the vibrations people moving around her.
She had plans. Andile had a market of sorts, a place where one could trade goods and sometimes services. She had made a few extra crafts to try to trade there- they jangled on her back in the carefully wrapped pack that held her commissioned weapons. Perhaps she would find some interesting things to take home to her sisters? She wasn't sure about looks, but she could ask if she had to and it wouldn't be a disaster to find something that didn't have to be seen, something interesting feeling or useful for herself.
She was not used to so many people in one place, but it was nice to be among so many of her sisters. It was like being wrapped in a protective cocoon of kin.

Peyla was on a break! She was! She had done a good job and now her alkidike was resting and so it was break time. She itched to pull a prank- she hadn't done any in far too long. There were so many targets here! She placed her little palms together diabolically. What should she do... So much potential, so little time...

Bhima was always glad for a market trip. Aside from gaining necessary goods and a few entirely fickle accoutrements, it was a chance to get out of the house and see other sisters, some of whom still brought back memories of a better time. She had with her a large bundle of quality arrows and a small bag of rare, dried herbs as well as a long strand of beads she had crafted herself, painstakingly, over the past couple of weeks. It wasn't much, but there was only so much they could manage with just the two of them in the house. The sisters were usually generous with their trades, and although she hated the pity, she was grateful for the help.

Now, where to go first? She began toward an Amazon with a well-crafted bow who she did not recognize. Well, it was somewhere to start, at least. It might take all day to sell and trade everything, but it would be worth it in the end.

Peyla had found her target. She hovered, shading her eyes to sight them: an older Amazon selling various herbal poultices, the sort that were easy to apply and remove. You didn't need healer training for them or magic. A warrior's best friend.
Peyla didn't care about that. She only saw that the Amazon was frowning stiffly at an offer someone was making- Pretty blocks of wood, something Peyla liked, and something she knew her Alkidike liked.
She chittered quietly, fluttering closer.
Yes, they did look nice. And the two women looked so annoyed and frustrated.
It was time to put a smile on their faces.

Peyla darted in, grabbing two of the wood blocks and fluttering a distance away, chittering and holding them up to her head.
Look! Ears!

"Hey! Give those back!"
"Little imp, get back here!" the two women at the stall flailed for the sprite, one upset the other- the storekeeper- annoyed. Their efforts accidentally rattled the stall of the bowoman.

Dyakida heard the shouts and winced. Was it wrong that when she heard people shouting like that, her first instinct was to blame a youngling and her second was to blame Peyla?
Chagrined, she approached to investigate. Just in case it was Peyla causing trouble again.

It likely would not have been Bhima's problem in any other situation, but the rattling of the stall caused a sharp spark of annoyance that ignited something in her brain. She was taller than the others, and she reached up in an attempt to snatch the sprite out of the air. Stupid animals! They had no understanding of worth and hard work! Really, if every sprite just keeled over right now, Bhima would feel no great loss.

"Give those back, you glorified mosquito!"

They weren't hers, but it didn't matter. She was annoyed, and it had funny ways of showing itself.

Peyla danced out of the way of the grabby Alkidike. A game of chase! Yes! Perfect! She chimed at the tall Alkidike and the others and darted around some stalls, still holding the wood blocks up to her head. Catch her if you caaaaan, catch her if you caaan! This was so fun!

'Glorified Mosquito'? That distinctive chime? Oh crap. It was Peyla. She tried to get towards the front of the crowd, but it was chaotically moving and she soon became turned around.
Damn it.
She hugged her staff close to her so that she wouldn't lose it in the jostling and tried to find the locus of the chaos. Maybe, if she trailed the sound there, she could find her sprite and put an end to this mess.

Catch her, catch her! She whirled around high above their heads. They couldn't jump high enough, could they? Nope! She laughed at them.

Approaching the source of the racket and the chimes, Dyakida nearly ran into Bhima, her antennae- overwhelmed by the commotion around her- barely warning her in time. She touched Bhima's back gently.
"Where is the sprite?" she asked calmly.
PostPosted: Sun Jun 30, 2013 12:24 pm

Bhima was mid-leap when the sister bumped into her, and she instinctively whipped around in anger. She was blind! Oh, Aisha, what in the world did the blind woman think she could do to help catch the sprite?! She was blin--!

She was blind.

The girl took a deep breath and touched the Alkidike's hand, certain that she had at least gotten partially lost in the hubbub.

"Above us," she responded, and then gave an aggravated yelp, "and now it's flying away again...! Is it yours? It stole someone's carvings..."

Now that she had had a taste of chaos, Peyla wanted more. She dropped the blocks behind another stall- she'd found something even more interesting. Spearheads! They were heavier, but even MORE like ears! She grabbed one.
Whew! Heavy!
Oh well, now she had a horn! She chimed and 'charged' at the nearest Alkidike

"Carvings?" she squeezed Bhima's hand gently, anchoring herself.
Of course it would be carvings, wouldn't it.
"Possibly yes" she said, a definite sigh in her voice.
She took a deep breath, angled her head up.
"PEYLA" she called, "PEYLA COME HERE!"

A really good charge was spoiled by peyla's startlement. Was that her name? And her Alkidike's voice?
She flew up and looked. Her Alkidike seemed just fine to her, and she was on break and in the middle of a prank!
She sent a chittering scolding Dyakida's way and continued to dive and dart into and out of the crowd, evading hands as best she could. Whooo! This was fun!

"PEYLA! PEYLA, COME BACK. NOW." She paused. "It isn't working, is it. Wonderful." she said, sarcastically.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 05, 2013 12:24 pm

"Er, no," Bhima responded, "It doesn't seem to be working."

Her next idea was to take a stick and start playing Sprite Piñata. If the Alkidike that owner her was blind, however, she felt as if her sprite may have more use than simple companionship. She watched the creature dive for a sister, the woman throwing her arms up in defense. While the sprite didn't make contact, Bhima was not going to stand for it actually being dangerous. At least the sister who had originally carried the carvings was able to retrieve them.

"You stop this!" she shouted. It was interesting how Sprites apparently understood the common tongue. "Someone's going to get hurt, and it might just be you!"

The bald Alkidike next to her Alkidike shouted something and Peyla stopped to stick her tongue out.
Just try and catch her!

Dyakida grimaced. If all this chaos was her sprite's fault then she would have a lot to pay for. Wonderful.
"She isn't listening to me." she muttered out loud, "Well. Desperate times call for desperate measures..."

Peyla had an idea. If she did it right, she could charge like a charging beetle. She flapped her little wings hard for altitude and then dived, but at an angle, trying to swoop so it looked like she was charging horizontally. People tried to stay out of the way of her charge- sprite or not, that spearhead was sharp- except for one Alkidike who tried to whack her like a baseball.
Fortunately, she saw it, and dropped like a stone, avoiding the bat before powering her way back up for another go, narrowly evading hands as she went.
Okay. This thing was too heavy. One more pass and she'd find something else to play with...

"PEYLA!" shouted Dyakida, as loud as she could, "IF YOU DO NOT STOP AND COME BACK HERE RIGHT NOW" she took another breath, "I'LL HAVE AMADI GUIDE ME."

Peyla was just about to reach a height to dive at when she froze, hovering. The spearhead dropped dangerously to the ground, hitting nobody-thank Aisha- as she turned towards her Alkidike.
WHAT?!
She screeched in indignation. She must have misheard. She scolded her Alkidike for even possibly saying that.

"YES. THATS RIGHT!" She called. Her voice was not used to being so... raised. Her throat was starting to protest the strain she was putting on it.
"HE'LL TAKE YOUR JOB"
It was a gamble, but she thought it might work. She held out a hand.
"SO COME HERE. NOW."

Nuh-uh! Peyla was on her break.
She scolded back, her chiming insistent and not happy at all. No! She wasn't serious! This was her job! Hers and hers alone! And she was on break! She was doing nothing wrong!
No!

"I'M NOT BLUFFING, PEYLA."
This shouting was really starting to hurt. She wondered if she could keep it up much longer? Hopefully, Peyla would obey and stop causing trouble and she wouldn't find out. "YOU KNOW I'M NOT"

No! She was bluffing! Her alkidike was smart and sneaky, but she wouldn't replace her like that! Amadi was a filthy dark-mark! She couldn't! She wouldn't! Guiding was her job! Her special job! He couldn't do it like she could! He was bad! Bad bad bad!
She flailed at the air. No! No no no! This was not happening!

"HERE. NOW."
Okay. She didn't want to do this raising voice thing anymore. She had been wondering how far she could go? This was it. Vocally, anyway.
She put her hands on her hips and tried to face the frustrated and angry chimes. She put on her best no-nonsense face. It helped that she wasn't bluffing at all. She would do this. She didn't lie about things like this.

NO.

Well. That chime was certainly negative.
New tactic then, since her voice hurt as if she had swallowed sand or something. She turned to go and began walking in the opposite direction.
"Fine then. I'm going to go back to Emeka, Peyla, and leave you here. Maybe Amadi won't be as much trouble" her voice was quieter than she would have liked, but she had a feeling that Peyla would be listening.
She just hoped she was headed in the right direction...

Peyla gave a dismayed chirp and sped towards Dyakida, entering the reach of some of the crowd. That didn't matter- Her alkidike was going to THEM, to Amadi! She had to stop her!

One of the sisters retrieved the fallen spearhead and everyone seemed more or less content to forget the nasty little sprite with a few angry glares. Bhima was closer to the situation, though, if only physically and was interested in the reactions of the creature. So she was the blind sister's guide, and Amadi must have been... someone else? Anyone else, she'd wager. The blind Alkidike was leaving though, and without anyone to guide her? Was she that well-practiced in navigating this area? What if a new hut had been built? The young Alkidike ran after her blind sister, putting a hand on her shoulder.

She didn't imagine that any of those threats had been actual, but they made the winged thief angry and that was enough for her. If nothing else, she could be just as annoying to the sprite as it had been to her.

"Do you need assistance finding a particular region or person?" Bhima had no doubt that this 'Peyla' didn't like her much, so the blind sister walking with her would antagonize the sprite? She could only hope.

"Yes. I'm making deliveries to the isles, and it seems my market day has been interrupted. If you could...?" she asked, smiling slightly. Short of Amadi, someone else guiding her would do the trick. She felt for the other woman's elbow, "I would greatly appreciate it." she lowered her voice to a whisper, "Though she will not."

Peyla was livid! No! No no no! That was HER alkidike, not this other person's alkdidike! She followed them, shrieking in anger.

"Ignore her. She's going to be loud for a while." she said quietly. It was going to be an ear-aching trip, she was sure, but Peyla needed to learn her lesson and stop doing these things.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 18, 2013 7:57 pm

"Of course," Bhima nodded, paying no real attention to her sister's whisper besides hearing it. If they were going to punish the sprite, they had to do it convincingly. She didn't imagine that she would be chaperone all the way to the isles, or at least she hoped not, but it would be fine for the time to continue with the charade.

"Luckily, it's a shorter trip from here than some other settlements." The young woman easily offered out her arm, looping it with the blind sister's and smiling. It had been a while since she'd been able to help another person directly. "My name is Bhima, by the way. It's a pleasure to meet you."

This was a girl used to shrieking and loud sounds, albeit not generally from sprites. The angry little critter would be no bother to her, and it wasn't like it could tangle her hair or tug on her clothes!

"Dyakida, and it is a pleasure to meet you as well." said Dyakida warmly, "Though I wish it were under other circumstances." Obviously.
"It is closer" she agreed. Hence why she had wanted to stay over a little bit, "Do you live here, or elsewhere?" she asked, curiously polite.

No no no! this was all wrong! Peyla darted and fluttered to the side of them, shrieking and waving her little arms in protest.

Even though every shriek felt like it was drilling right into her brain, Dyakida kept up a facade of calmness.
"The weather has been quite good these past few days, don't you think, Bhima?" she said, a little sweetly for Peyla's sake. "Good travelling weather. Thats why I chose today to make my deliveries- I wasn't sure when I would next have the chance"

Weather weather weather who cared about wheather! Peyla needed to get her alkidikes attention NOW because she was going with the wrong person who WASN'T PEYLA and was an alkidike to boot.
AUGH! The sprite crossed her arms and chimed repeatedly.
Pay attention! Pay attention to HER!
PostPosted: Mon Aug 12, 2013 10:15 am

"I live in Andile, yes. It's only short walk from my hut to the market," Bhima nodded, and she laughed slightly in amusement at the sprite's frustration. It was only a thread of a chuckle, however, and could easily have been in response to anything else happening at the time.

"Oh, definitely," she continued, on the mundane subject of weather, "You actually just missed a period of rain, you were smart to arrive today. Where are you from yourself, if you don't mind my asking?" She was actually curious to know how far a blind sister traveled with no one but a vexatious little sprite to keep her company! She had a fair share of well-made weapons, however, so perhaps she was used to traveling merchantry or in making deliveries. The real question was, had she made the weapons, or had someone else created them and given them to a blind sister to carry around Jahuar?

Andile, hmmm? "That is incredibly convenient" she said brightly, "It must be very difficult to resist going every day." If Emeka had a proper market, Dyakida certainly would have trouble resisting the urge to barter. She had loved it when she was younger, and she still loved the art of trade now that she was older. Somehow, other people had the most interesting things, and somehow you might have what they wanted in return."Did I really? Then I timed it exactly right." she said, surprised. The weather patterns for this region of Jahuar were usually the same, but the closer you got to the coast, the more off it became.
"I hail from Emeka. Its not too far from Andile, but it is still a bit of a trek. My sisters and I don't return to the Isles very often."

PAY ATTENTION. NO. STOP TALKING AND PAY ATTENTION.
Peyla was getting more and more insistent. How could they ignore her? How DARE they? If they kept ignoring her, she would take drastic measures.
