The silver cub skidded to a halt in the tall grass, trying to recover his breath from his break for freedom. As he stood there, the tall grass whipping around him and tickling his belly, he tried to remain silent. But it was becoming more and more difficult for that to happen. A grin broke across the cub's face as he snickered silently to himself. Not only was the grass tickling his belly delightfully, but he seemed to have made a clean get away! Sure! Izzy probably wouldn't be too happy with him, but he would cross that bridge when he got to it.

But for now, he was going to focus on what he'd escaped for ... practice. Though he was already prepared for the inevitable letdown, he tried to control his defeat. Today would be the day where he didn't allow his self doubt to get in the way of his goals.

"Today is the day ... Today is the day ..."

Taking in a deep breath, Emrys puffed out his chest and continued to chant his mantra.

"Today is the day ... Today is the day ..."

User ImageEvery encounter had become a new chapter in his book. The yellow lion was far from the gypsy he appeared to be, but had come to enjoy the thrill of what life had in store around every corner. In some ways, the nomadic lifestyle seemed to suit him and all of his worldly desires. With each new face there came a new tale, one in which he could, and would, weave for any willing to listen-- and oh, how there had been many. He lived for himself, by himself, and when all the stars aligned would come face to face with another adventure.

One could get used to no responsibilities, no restrictions, and no bindings. Even he, a once ranked member to his home pride, seemed to find some fulfillment in the few years of solitude. He had even been given the opportunity to join up with others, given the chance to call a new land home-- but each he had denied, and for what? He always assumed it was for freedom. Yet, no matter how hard he had tried to ignore the fact that he desperately needed to belong, Adisa could not, and would never, become accustom to the many lonely nights that stood opposite his lively ones. He required an audience. He required friendships and laughter on everyday, at any hour. Adisa was no wanderer, he managed this far simply from a broken heart... but it was time. It had been time for a while now.

So it was not unlike him to spot the sway of grass and to approach it without caution. His leaps and bounds were short, his thick underbelly swaying with every step. For a rogue, the male appeared to be well fed. "Excuse me!" Adisa called at a distance, mostly to avoid alarm. A mixture of scent and sight led him to deduce the other a male lion, and by the size, cub, which only seemed to excite him more. Oh how he loved children, full of imagination and courage! A fresh smile spread across his lips as the gap closed quickly, and soon he would be towering over the youth--pausing only long enough to hear out the boys chant.

"Hello! Hello! Are you the king of these lands? It is a mighty fine day indeed, your majesty, although might I ask, for what?"

Emrys' body stiffened as he heard the male's first outburst. The only thing able to move on his body seemed to be his nerves, as evident by the quaking fear erupting throughout his body. He had no idea who was out here, he only knew where he was. Izzy's den was very near the border ... which meant he was even closer to it then he had been before. He should have thought of that before deciding to go out on his own! Emrys mentally berated himself for his stupid decision. He should have gone in the other direction! Should have gone into the pride and not away from it!

He could feel the footsteps growing closer, and boy how he wanted to run! Normally he wouldn't be so afraid to encounter another, but he knew how close he was to the borders. Whoever was out here, likely wasn't one of his friendly pride mates. It was likely a rogue, and while his parents had told him most rogues were safe; they had still warned them of the possible dangers.

The male was now right behind him, he could feel his breath upon his back. Poor Emrys was cowering in a ball by the time the friendly words hit his ears. And hit them the did, his stomach fell like a ton of bricks. "Y-Your majesty?" He managed to mumble, as he tried to force himself to face the voice behind him.

Finally he managed to turn, and what he saw was far from what he expected. Emrys visibly relaxed as the male continued to speak. He really didn't seem like a bad guy ...

"I-I'm not the King ... b-but I could take you to meet him?" Gulping down a breath of fresh air, Emrys tried to be brave and stop stuttering though he knew that wasn't going to be an easy feat.

"I-I ... I guess its a good day ... but I don't know what it's a good day for ... m-maybe hunting? O-Or playing? But I don't have anyone to play with .. t-that's why i'm alone out here."

The boys shakes and shivers caused more a ruckus in the tall grass than the roaming he had done just moments before. Adisa had let enthusiasm get the better of him. He assumed too much, played too often, and ultimately failed to remember the rules of foreign lands, by which rogues were often supposed to follow inherently.

Surprise attacks on young cubs were not at all proper form for burly adults. Particularly when the surprise is done by a stranger, upon a stranger, on even stranger lands. The male took a step back while the gray cub bravely muttered his first word, and proceeded to do what he thought best; Lowering himself to meet with the other at eye level, parting the sea of blades with his girth to open the grounds between them. An attempt to ease the tension. From there, the rest of the youths words became easier to decipher, through the mumbles that is, and Adisa could make out the very interesting pattern on the others frame. Flowers!

"Not the king? Are you sure?" He said before a short pause, head tilting in mock surprise. "Only brave lions wander off on their own, and kings are very brave!... Hm. Well if you are not the king, you are at least have the makings of one." The yellow male flattened himself out further, the same toothy grin as before flashing upon his large maw. It had been a long while since he last spoke with a cub. Too long, in his opinion. Fine, gentlemanly males and lady-like females were always good for conversation, but the most fun he could have always seemed to be with the kids. "Maybe we can meet with the king later... Tell me, what is your name?" This one, despite all of his initial uncertainties, appeared to be curious. There was no need to be frightened by Adisa, but how exactly to go about proving it?

"My name is Adisa'Uzoma, and if its all the same... I'd love to play with you! No brave lion should ever spend a good day doing nothing!" He rolled onto his side while keeping both eyes on the young male. "I mean, if you want to. I'm new to these lands, I've traveled all over the WORLD though, and I've never come across a prettier place then this!"

Though he was big and burly, and had given the poor cub quite the scare, Emrys couldn't help but feel himself beginning to like this older male. He seemed nice enough, despite his status as a stranger and his large overly fearful stature.

He was trying his best to remain serious in front of the older male, because if an adult wanted your attention. It usually wasn't because they wanted to hear all about being a cub. But it was like the harder he tried to not crack a smile, the bigger that smile got. "Nuh uh! Definitely not the King!" He finally giggled, raising his two front paws to cover his mouth. "Is going off on your own really brave? My sister says its stupid," Tilting his head to the side, he hoped the male would answer him honestly. It would be really cool to know he was brave and not just being really stupid. But he wouldn't at all be surprised to hear that he was in fact just stupid.

"Well Momma and Papa always tell us not to tell strangers our names ... But I guess we're not strangers since I know your name! A-dee-sa'OOo-Zooo-Mah!" Emrys tried his best to pronounce the name properly, but he was fairly certain he hadn't done a good job. "Hey .. your name is really long! Can I just call you A-dee-sah?" Emrys' tail began to flick back and forth behind him as Adisa split the grass between them and rolled over onto his side.

"My name is Emrys! SEE! Its easy to remember!" With a simple matter of fact nod of his head, Emrys quickly shot into excited cub mode. Jumping up on his paws once more and prancing happily in anxious excitement. "HEY YEAH! I bet my siblings would be jealous to hear how cool my day was!" Another giggle escaped the cub's lips as he waited for Adisa to tell him what tey were going to play. "If you want, I could show you around Adisa! We could make a game out of it! OH! THAT WOULD BE SO MUCH FUN!"

While Emrys' tried his hardest not to smile, all Adisa could do was just that. He was, however, finding it difficult to not let the cub go on and on without answering any of his questions. The rabble of a youngster was always so darn precious.

"Ah, siblings. They can be so mean." The male started, snorting a small cloud of dust into the air. He knew all too well of the cruelty of brothers and sisters; both young and old. "There's nothing stupid about being adventurous! I think its brave! I did it when I was younger, and I still do it today! As long as you're careful then it's not stupid." Truthful or not, it was the males opinion on the matter. Adisa had survived a long while doing what it was he knew and loved best. What trials and tribulations were intermixed in all of his travels were not meant for a cubs ears.

When the topic was hurriedly rushed along, Adisa couldn't keep down the chuckle that shook his barrel chest. Somewhat thankful for the move along, the large male replied, "That was pretty good! Adisa will do." After all, favored that nickname over all others. "But It's always good to listen to your parents! Today you are safe with me, Emrys. Not all lions are good, however. Which is why brave lions must always remain watchful of their surroundings, even as they wander boldly into the unknown!" The swishing and swashing of the cubs tail got his own going as well, and through the blades of grass it went; wildly shaking them all about.

To the others mentioning of a tour, Adisa gave no pause of consideration and quickly rolled to his stomach. "That sounds great!" He followed up with a climb to his feet and a shake to free his pelt of debris. Once he settled, the male took in a deep breath, returning his gaze to the cub.

"So. What kind of game would you like to play while we explore??"

Emrys nodded sternly at Adisa's words, siblings could indeed be quite mean. He knew his siblings meant well, but sometimes their words still hurt. Whether he wanted to admit them or not. "Well, i'm a very smart adventurer ... at least I think I am!" Sitting straight upright, he puffed his furry little chest out and grinned in happiness. He didn't know how Adisa would feel about his bravery, but he was sure this male wouldn't be mean to him. Even if it was something that was true. But if he did, Adisa probably couldn't say anything that wasn't already said or done to him in the past. "Yes'sir..." He mumbled, his little ears flattening against his skull at the tiny lecture. He could tell that the lion meant well, but he was always being lectured! And well, it got boring after a while! Exhaling a pent up sigh, Emrys tried to straighten himself out and look more respectable to Adisa. "In that case! I'll be the most watchful lion ever! Starting .... NOW!" He giggled, quickly pulling himself back into his cheerful state and allowing his tail to flick with his excitement.

As the two sat there, unsure of what their next step should be, Emrys held a paw to his lips as he began to contemplate. What was there to do ... games? Hmmmmm ... Suddenly an idea popped in the cub's head and it was visible on his face nearly immediately.

"Oh! Oh! What about I Spy? Do you know that game Adisa? I've only played it once or twice, but I think I could teach you!"

Shia bean
Ack, the same goes for me. Its been a rough start to the month. Sorry this took so long >3<

Naturally, Adisa nodded. The excitement was as he had expected; infectious. And like that of an infection, the symptoms were apparent almost immediately. The swat of his own tail against a readied thigh, followed by the swivel of both ears so he looked as attentive as he felt was only the start.

"I Spy?" Adisa rolled his eyes to the clouds above and feigned a ponderous look, trembling from withheld laughter. "Oh, no no Emrys, there will be no need to explain. I'm pretty good at this, actually! Liiiiiiike"

The male without warning leapt forward as the word continued to roll off his tongue, practically soaring over top of Emrys' stationed form. Taking several bounds deeper into the cubs homeland, he came to a firm halt with his back to the boy, and spoke the words, "I SPY WITH MY BIG OL'EYE SOMETHING..." Loudly. The shift of a stray, fawn colored critter in the not-too-distant distance caused him to inhale a deep breath, letting his gaze go astray so as not to lead Emrys to a quick answer. "Something brownish...tan. And it has horns! Oh and big eyes."

Because the more clues the better, right?

... So maybe Adisa wasn't the ISpy all-star he thought he was, but nonetheless he planned on having fun.

Emrys' eyes became as wide as saucers when Adisa boasted of his expertise in the game. Emrys was never all that good at it, but he still enjoyed listening to the clues and trying. Adisa's prideful boasting made him jittery with excitement, he was in for a real challenge this time!

His reaction was rather late, but still to be expected. As Adisa shot over his head and across the field, the young cub's mouth fell agape with a mix of amusement and fear. ADISA WAS SO MUCH BIGGER THAN HIM! He'd known the adult was bigger, but he hadn't really gotten the full effect of his size until this very moment. One day he hoped he could be that big and strong, but at his current rate ... that was highly unlikely.

Adisa's words sent the cub into a fit of the jitters, and he jumped to his feet excitedly. His paws prancing little dust clouds onto the ground, this was so exciting! He could hardly contain himself, it seemed as though Adisa's words would go on forever. But eveutally they did come to an end, and Emrys sat puzzled for a moment.

Tilting his head ever so slightly to the right, he tried to take in all the different clues he had been offered.

"Big eyes?"

That last clue had him perplexed. He knew only a small amount of animals with horns, and even less with big eyes to match! "Hummmmmmmm....."

Humming to himself, the cub tried to imitate a lioness he'd met recently, by putting all of his wieght on his back legs and eventually pushing himself upwards. Much like a meerkat, though the grass was still pretty tall and did little to help him.

Well! Guess he'd better start listing things off!

"Is it a deer? OH OH or a gazelle?! IT'S A GAZELLE ISN'T IT? I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THEY HAD BIG EYES!"

"..."

Adisa turned quickly over a shoulder and carefully eyed Emrys from afar. As if to ensure he hadn't cheated, and once satisfied, the large male huffed in defeat. Following through with his motions by facing Emrys completely, Adisa leveled his head with the young male and gave in to a small, lopsided grin.

"Oh yeah! They're big and ALWAYS watching." He paused only to lower himself into the grass again, then, "Alright, you're turn! Go on ahead and let me know when you've got your pick! I promise not to peek!"

Emrys beamed with delight at Adisa's silence .. he knew that sound all too well. When he played these games with his siblings, it often meant they had been bested. Ah the sweet smell of silence, he was definitely enjoying his little bit of it while he could. But soon Adisa was speaking again, and Emrys' ears were perked to full attention, and he was absorbing the male's every word like a sponge. He found himself really liking Adisa ... he reminded him of his brothers, which was NOT a bad thing. Adisa was definitely cool!

"OK! You better not!"

He giggled, placing his tiny little paws over Adisa's eyes to ensure his victory. Another fit of giggles overtook him as he realized how teeny tiny his paws were against the male's body. But he had a job to do, so he shook himself free of his laughs and looked about.

There were many things around them that he could pick, though all of them were really easy to spot. If he wanted to beat the master, he had to find something really awesome and hard to spot!

A screech above him, brought the cub's attention to the sky where he found the perfect thing to spy. A large gird circling ominously over a nearby tree. Emrys' tail flicked happily around him before he spoke up.

"I spy ... something ... HIGH!"

Bouncing on his paws, he tried to elaborate further. "And black ... and really scary ..."

Adisa looked cross-eyed at Emrys' paws, grinned goofily at his brief moment of discovery and fascination, before chuckling along with him. The look on the boys face was priceless. Yes, he was a rather large and hulking individual... when compared to a cub. "Ahh ha ha, alright. You can trust me! Go on!"

He watched the other scamper off and shut his eyes; just to give the youth a bit more confidence in Adisa's word. Only when prompted did the male wheel enthusiastically about, fixate his eyes on the plains despite Emrys' clue, and take several strides forward.

It was an easy find, or so he had assumed. High, black, scary-- two out of three things he could say matched his own description of the beast. (Black and scary) He, also, heard the screech and let his peripherals catch the circling movement of Emrys' choice, another subtle confirmation. But... despite his eager desire to win, Adisa did not jump on the chance to score. Instead, he gave the information some, seemingly serious, thought.

Because that was what good adults did.

He looked to the grass beneath his feet for a while, and then to the skies above before settling on a boulder in the distance. "High..." He repeated in a mumble. "Something... high... And black. What about... OH a tree?"

Trees were brown. But Adisa didn't seem to notice, or truthfully care, as he looked excitedly to Emrys. DID HE WIN?

Adisa seemed to be having some trouble trying to figure out exactly what Emrys had picked. And Emrys was just eating it up! All the while with a Cheshire grin pasted across his face, he waited with his tail thumping wildly behind him. Would Adisa be able to guess the bird?!

For a moment, he really thought the lion had bested him! Especially when the screech broke through their silence. But still, Adisa said nothing and it took everything he had not to burst out giggling in excitement. His poor little cheeks were going to explode it he weren't careful!

Finally Adisa made a guess, and Emrys finalyl allowed his pent up laughter to escape in loud guffaws. Rolling on his back in pure cublike enjoyment. "No silly! Trees are brown and green - NOT BLACK!" Peeking out from under his eyes, he could see his excited friend and rolled over to go on over and stand next to him. "It was a bird you goofy lion! C'mon! Lets go find another spot and play again!" He mused, happy to be in the company of an adult who wasn't so serious all of the time.

Now it's MY turn to apologize! So sorry for the wait hun, we can consider this one finished with this post if you want, or if you need another post in feel free to do so! <3 Thank you so much for the RP Also, I saw that Emrys has grown *3* SO HANDSOME LOL THIS WAS FOREVER AGO I AM SORRY AGAIN

Edit: Pardon all of the quoting ;;

Adisa feigned surprise rather convincingly. The arch of his neck might have gone unnoticed, but the roll of his eyes to follow Emrys' object would be far from hidden. He hummed aloud, narrowing his gaze and straining his neck toward the sky before muttering. At first it was low, and then it came with the force and energy of true excitement, "Well I'll be... that was brilliant, boy! You're a real master of the game!" For his size, it was truly a sight to behold watching him leap with all four paws back and in one motion extend his girth in a playful bow. "I acknowledge your skill, you have bested me with that one." He righted himself, leaned in, and squinted one eye. "This time."

The cub's laughter would encourage his own episode of hardy chuckles; these as genuine as they'd come. The delight in good company was a shared one for both cub and adult, and as Emrys extended an invitation deeper into the pride, Adisa would accept with a more than eager nod of his head.

This would make a suitable home. Yes. He was certain of it.
