Faithful Meetings
1439
The noise behind her escalated, so much so that it stirred Alisi from her deep slumber. She was tempted open one big golden eye to stare at the creature making so much racket behind her. To her surprise it was a boy. One tiny oddly shaped boy than again everything was tiny to her. The female Groudon grunted and rolled back over, curling into a ball and attempted to sink deeper into the lava. She decided to ignore it. She was too tired to care anyways. With luck, the boy was just a figment of her imagination and the racket he was causing was all part of a bad nightmare that will work itself out in the end. Perhaps she'll eat him and he'll turn into something delicious like a huge cake.

She was just beginning to dream again when the racket started up again, this time she felt odd pinpricks along her side and cheeks. It was like she was getting poked by something miniscule over and over again. Alisi growled, feeling annoyed now. She finally began to move, shifting her weight so that her legs were beneath her as her head rose to gaze down at the boy who spent what felt like hours pestering her. With teeth bared, leaning in on her two front claws, the female Groudon growled, “What. Do.You.Want!?” She paused between words, speaking between bared fangs. The boy didn't seem too shaken perhaps not as shaken as the little Charmander behind him.

“Come on Tin, I told you this was a bad idea.” she whispered, tugging on the boy's arm.

The boy on the other hand stood defiantly or so he seemed before reaching up to scratch his feathery head. “Uum, sorry to wake you.” he started, chuckling softly to himself as he pressed a finger to his cheeks. “You've got a little bit of a slobber left on your cheek.”

Alisi reached up to angrily wipe her cheeks, smearing molten hot lava across her face all the while. “Is that all you've woken me up for?!” she demanded, huffing angrily. Black smoke begun to rise slowly from her being as the lava pool she sat in slowly begun to rise.

“Actually no.” Tin stated, he grinned like a fool and shrugged his shoulders. “Where are we?”

The charmander seemed to be mumbling words beneath her breath in complete and utter fright as the Groudon reared back to her full height with golden eyes wide. A moment of silence was broken as she fell back against the harden stone of the mountain with laughter. Her claws held her center as the laughter resounded throughout the caverns and tubes. “All this because you are lost?” she shooke her head, feeling amused by the galls of this boy before her. “You stir me from my slumber, risking the chance of being boiled to a crisp to ask me for directions?” She slapped her knees before leaning back to talk at eye level with the boy and snorted. “I like you boy. You have some guts and I can respect that.” She noted how he'd kept his lady friend behind him or at least tried the entire time in a rather protective stance even though Tin had acted rather nonchalantly the whole time. Brave and honorable. Traits she could respect. Alisi snorted as she shook off a lava covered palm and picked the two of them up gingerly once she felt the heat dissipate away. Arceus above, she would wouldn't want to fry the two just as she decides to help them. “Tell me your names.” she rumbled, moving sluggishly towards the walls as she places the two on the crown of her head before gingerly digging her claws into the sides of the volcano.

Tin poked the Charmander in the side. “See, Embrez. You're such a worry wort. I told you everything will be fine!” chuckled the Torchic boy. “Oh, I'm Tin and this is Embrez!”

Grinning, she slowly crawled her way up to the mouth of the volcano taking in the cool night air. “I am Alisi and this is my home. You two are welcomed to return here. My home is now yours, so long as you find a politer way of waking me from my slumber next we meet.” She bowed her head to allow the two to disembark.

Tin was preparing to leave, waving with his back turned to the large legendary. It was then when Embrez perked up and with curiosity lighting up her features. “Why did you choose to help us? You could've easily smashed us to a fine paste or even burned us to a crisp, but you didn't? Why?”

If Groudon's could raise an eyebrow, Alisi would have done so about now. Showing off her pearly whites as she heartily laughed, the legendary replied, “With great power comes great responsibilities. To act before knowing your intent would be wrong on my part. What kind of legendary would I be if I could not uphold the duties that I was tasked to do. Build the lands and continents for the Pokemon and people of these lands to live and make sure a certain other Pokemon doesn't sink it all.” She growled the last half under her breath. Taking a deep breath to soothe the rage building within, Alisi found the strength to continue. “Doing harm to little ones isn't a part of my job description. Even if they annoyed me. Besides, your friend has some fine qualities, recklessness aside. I like that in a person. It reminds me of an old friend...” She leaned against the lip of the volcano and grinned knowingly. “You're lucky to have a guardian like that. You should tell him how you feel sometime.”

Embrez tilted her head, uncertain by what Alisi meant by that, but before she could prod any further for information, the Groudon waved one large claw in the air as to disperse her curiosity. “In time, you'll understand.” Her lips creased into a gentler looking smile. “For now, let's not keep the young boy waiting. Go on, girl. It's not so polite to keep him waiting.”

“We've just met and all, but can I return to talk to you more?” said Embrez as she clasped her hands together around the tip of her tail. “I really like talking with you..You make me feel confident somehow.”

Chuckling, Alisi nodded. “Ah, all part of the job description, my dear.” A yawn escaped her lips. “Come another time and I will be happy to talk with you more. Perhaps when I'm more awake.” She would've stretched out her aching limbs to further illustrate how tired she really was, but if she was to do that, Alisi would have an uncomfortable fall back into a pit of lava. Lava which will quickly erupt and possibly giving these kids further reasons to leave quickly aside from their own agenda. Instead she grunted her goodbyes and watched as the two bounced off to their next adventure. She gazed up at the heavens, admiring the stars above in thought.

She was young like that once and enjoyed adventures. There was once a point in time when she and that Pokemon got along. Where they played and created things together just like those two. Alisi hoped that one day, someday soon that they could reconcile and see things differently. 'Earth and water can co-exist together, so why can't we?' she thought before sighing and shaking her head. “The past is the past for a reason. Can't change what happened...” Forlorn, Alisi gazed once more to the stars in almost a prayer, she whispered. “But I hope one day to try. Please grant us a second chance at trying.” Closing her eyes to the world, Alisi began her descent. It was slow and steady, the pace of a beast as heavy as she was. She took her time, allowing the intense heat to caress her and console her. Once more she was blanketed by lava, the blood of the earth flowing over heart. Who could ask for a better blanket? It wasn't before long that she found sleep and within the world of dreams she found comfort. She frolicked once more side by side with a friend in the blissful innocence of childhood when the world was simple. Needless to say it was a sweet dream and one day hopefully it'll be an even sweeter wish. If that silly Jirachi would stop by long enough to grant it. Oh well, she's waited this long and proved she had the patience to endure longer. Until then... a dream was good enough.

A Mentor 608

Alisi felt a soft prod against her left cheek. It happened again and again with a whisper that sounded like pleading. “Please don't turn over. Please don't turn over.” It repeated. Over and over until she finally opened one of her heavy lidded eyes to find a small shiny Charmander staring back at her.

“So you've returned,” slurred Alisi in her sleepy stupor. “What do you need, little one?”

“Teach me how to become stronger.” replied Embrez. There was a certain fire of determination burning in her eyes, a spark the Groudon has seen before.

The large Pokemon groaned, carefully shifting so to not knock Embrez over. “What happened? Is it just you? Where's your ambitious friend?” There was a hint of worry in her tone. One that seemed to set the Charmander into her own fits of worry.

“I-I. Well, Tin...” She couldn't seem to find the right words. Her constant stuttering and mumbling gave Alisi a good reason to worry and wake. Allowing the lava on her claws sufficient time to cool, Alisi proceeded to pick up the smaller Pokemon and rest her on the spit of land where the two first met. The Groudon rested her chin on the edge of the ledge. Bringing herself almost to eye level with the panicked Embrez.

With a muffled yawn, she responded, “Speak to me. What's wrong?”

Embrez gave a soft sigh as her lips trembled. “I need to become stronger. Or at least I need to learn to control my strength.” She caught onto her sides as it seemed the tears were beginning to roll. “I couldn't do anything. My friends were getting hurt and all I could do was stand there in fear of what I could do. W-when I tried to do something, my friend was hurt.” Embrez collided into Alisi's nose, a sobbing mess. “Help me Alisi, help me become stronger. So Tin doesn't have to worry about me. I don't want to be afraid of myself.”

With one sharpened claw carefully placed under Embrez's chin, Alisi slowly raised the Charmander's gaze so that the two were eye to eye. “Don't cry, little one. There's no time to cry. Your training will begin now.” Her words were spoken tenderly, but there was a touch of a stern mother's voice in there that commanded the little one's attention. She couldn't stand seeing someone cry. She couldn't stand tears, really. Enough was shed in the times of war for land and sea that Alisi couldn't stand seeing it any longer. She gave Embrez a reassuring smile. “And with the training we'll be doing, you have no time to cry.”

She hiccuped into the end of her sobbing as she stared in awe at the large Groudon. “Training?”

“Yes, training. Under my teaching, you'll have a better understanding of the fire within you.”

Her eyes widen. “Really?”

“No more tears.” murmured Alisi, huffing softly as she gently rubbed away the tears. “Big girls don't cry if they can help it, okay?”

“Okay.” Embrez sniffled a few, but all in all she gave Alisi the biggest smile she could muster. “No more tears.”

“That's my girl. Now come, we've got some training to do.” With a snort, the large pokemon inwardly sighed. 'No more dreaming for a bit. Oh well, nothing wrong with living in the moment.' she thought to herself, giving a toothy grin. With that begun the long process training the young one. It was rigorous and Alisi cut no corners. By the end of these sessions, Embrez would either walk away from it learning a new lesson or completely drain of all energy and sense.

A Cause to Worry
568

As soon as she felt the weight of Embrez leave her form, Alisi was awake. Her eyes peeled open into slits to watch as the young on pattered off into the darkness. She watched for a moment as the fire from the Charmander's tail faded away around the corner, leaving the corridors darkened once more. The Groudon felt that she should be concerned. Perhaps she should awaken, perhaps she should do something, but what little could she do? She was large, too large to fit into the small spaces. She was sure that the young one was safe. What could possibly happen to her in this haven where everyone here loved and cared for her?

It was Embrez's voice that once again stirred her. The sound of her crying softly. Alisi couldn't hear the words, but just the sound of the little one crying was enough to wake her. It was a good thing because just as she stood, a bright light collided with Embrez knocking her back into the volcano. Alisi's went wide as she watched as her pupil fell backwards towards the lava. She violently thrashed about jumping into a wall and dug her claws into the walls of the volcano as she howled in horror. With an open palm she managed to catch Embrez who was still engulfed in light. Alisi felt the stones beneath her claws crumbled as the sheer force she used to gain leverage this far up, this fast had set the volcano into near critical mode. If she didn't react fast, bad things could happen and she couldn't allow that.

Entei must have sensed that something was wrong. He was quick in reacting, allowing Alisi to plop the little one onto his back and bring her to safety. With her hands now free, Alisi dived back into the lava pit below that seemed to bubble and churn angrily. Was down, she sealed off the top layer, locking herself below it. Not knowing what more she could do, the Groudon female sighed with her heart still racing. Deep down, she knew her pupil as safe and sound and nothing bad was going to happen. It was in this moment that she found peace to sleep and with the coming sleep comes the resting lava as it's churning is brought to an end. The world of dreams always brought about peace with a false promise of happiness.
