PRP Between Swirly and Dawns_aura Once again on her own, Royale gazed in a bit of wonder at the forest around her. She didn’t really have a clue where she wanted to go now, but it was time to get moving. The sun had risen beautifully and the summer heat had yet to become overbearing. Glancing hesitantly both way, Royale sighed gently and started towards the distant sound of running water. Might as well have something to drink and find a spot to graze. She had met two kalonas just the other day and they were… a bit terrifying to her. A sweep of shame went through the mare as she thought over how they had done absolutely nothing to harm or hurt her and yet she was leery towards the idea of ever actually going and speaking to the duo again. It was best to follow instinct right? Lost her in her own thoughts, Royale absent mindedly swished her tail at a few flies and continued her walk. Unaware that someone was likely to be nearby said water…

It was the first time since she encountered the skin walker that she had left the safety of the glen. Though her father had been more than delighted that she chose to stick around, it got to be a bit much, even for her. She loved her father, but… well, in small doses he was wonderful the longer one stayed, the more annoying he got. She blew her bangs out of her eyes. That wasn't right, nor was it completely fair. But she couldn't help feeling that way.
Wings fluttering nervously, eyes scanning back and forth constantly, she took some dancing steps along the path, sticking quite clearly to the marked paths, not eager to repeat that experience any time soon. The sound of running water nearby reminded her that it was in fact a rather hot day and her throat was starting to feel a little parched.
All senses on high alert, she made her way off the path and towards the river. She was reassured that there was nothing jumping out at her, but she wasn't about to lower her guard. That was what had happened last time, and the only reason that hadn't ended in tragedy was the stallion. And she knew he wasn't anywhere nearby to save her, if she got into trouble again.

Royale had finally made her way to the river and had her fill of delightfully cool water. She watched around her with gentle curiosity and was completely at ease. Nothing bad had ever happened in her world and she really just didn’t think of paying attention to anything. Still looking around, Roy couldn’t believe her eyes when something brightly covered started to get closer to her. OH, OH! She was about to meet up with a soquili. She hoped that they liked her. What if they didn’t? What if they wanted her to go away and be quiet? That wouldn’t happen. Calm yourself. The young Angeni mare was practically wriggling with excitement. Trying to decide on the best way to say hello and how to not be rude and how-how-how… Oh dear. She was going to make a bit of an idiot out of herself like she always did, according to Bane. “Hello there!” Deciding that being nervous was not going to get her anywhere and feeling a false bravado Royale made herself call out. Now or never, she was going to be in trouble if the one headed her way was a skinwalker, or a kalona, or something worse that nobody had ever bothered to tell her about… The bravado from before had faded now and Royale waited as the other possibly continued their approach and worried about her safety. She had never learned to fly…

Still nervous, and anxious, Lina continued forward carefully... until she heard the tremulous 'hello there.' It allowed her to feel less threatened. Less timid. But she would not let her guard down until she was absolutely positive it was safe. That this wasn't some sort of trick.
'Hello,' She responded, confident enough her voice was steady, calm and as quiet as it could be without drawing too much undue attention but still be heard clearly. Her confidence was born out when she stepped out of the trees and saw the winged mare.
Angeni. There was no way she could be evil. No way that she could offer hurt to an flutter like herself. At least, that was what the stories said. And she had to trust that they were true. Otherwise, everything she believed in would be a lie.
A few steps brought her to the waters edge, and she took a few sips, enough to moisten the throat that had become dry from fear until she found there was no reason for the fear.

Royale watched with interest as the petite mare came closer, she had unusual wings about her. None like Roy had ever seen before. She was curious enough to want to reach out and touch them, but that would be rude. She didn’t have the heart to be rude. It just was not in her own coding. The mare’s voice struck Roy as being soft and timid – something that she heard in her own voice when speaking. A kindred soul? It was way too early in their meeting to even hope for that, but since leaving her only friend, Bane, Royale was beginning to feel a bit lonely. “Good day to you, Miss.” What was proper in these parts? How formal was she supposed to be? What exactly was the mare across the way from her? Roy knew that her sheltered life had kept her safe from the many and continued dangers in these lands but right now, she felt rather stupid. She watched the flutter take a drink and tried to wait patiently and without making any quick movement that would startle the other. Losing a small battle with herself, Roy spoke again before she had given the other a chance, “I’m Gypsy Royale… W-What do you wings mean?”

Though perhaps she shouldn't have felt better realizing the other mare was just as nervous as she was, perhaps even more so, it was re-assuring enough Linaiha settled some, becoming more comfortable and confident in herself.
' A good day to you as well.' There was something quite cute, as well as more than a little disconcerting to be referred to as such. 'Please. No miss. Just call me Lina. Or Linaiha if that's more comfortable for you.'
It did not startle her, no matter what the other mare may have thought, but she did appreciate the thought behind the gesture. But it did seem rather odd to her that the angeni, Gypsy Royale, didn't seem to know what Lina was. Shouldn't she know more than this? It was curious to the fluttercorn.
'Gypsy Royale… Is there a short name you'd prefer?' She fluttered her wings unconsciously.'What do you mean… what do my wings mean? By themselves, wings have no specific meaning, other than the one that possesses them might have the ability to fly. Other than that… the type might be more specific in meaning. For instance, yours mean you have angeni blood. Or that you are full-blood angeni. My wings mean that I have flutter blood, though other traits would suggest that it is diluted. Though is that what you are requesting to know?'

Roy was still relatively unsettled for now. She was so awkward around others. She really was trying though. Trying to get more poise, more practice at seeming a gentle-lady. Someday she would bit the image that she had in her mind for how an angeni should look and act. “Lina, that’s a lovely name… That-is, both are quite lovely, but but… eh oh! Either of those really are quiet comfortable to me. No need to worry about me at all.” Roy felt a flush starting up her cheeks, but it was less severe than usual.. The only types of Soquili that she knew for sure were in her own family. Even then, the actual ‘types’ had not been taught to her. It wasn’t proper to judge someone by their outer trappings was her motto. Although now that she was off on her own she was realizing how dangerous that could be. “Flutter?” The word rolled carefully off of Roy’s tongue and she nodded carefully. “Flutters must be pretty by nature? Your features are quite lovely…. And I have heard the word angeni although I’m not pure in the typical sense?” Half of what Roy said was to herself, musing more than anything else before coming to a more alert stance, “Oh! Please, do call me Roy if you like… or Royale. The Gypsy is a family-thing, but not necessary.. unless you’d like to use it…”

This was definitely a new experience for Lina, acting as a teacher to one who was at least her own age.. perhaps a little older or younger, she wasn't exactly sure. It was a bit startling to be cast back in this role. She hadn't had to act as such since before she left her herd to try and find her father. But even in the herd, she worked more with young foals than the teens and young adults… how novel.
'Well… thanks.' She wasn't used to getting compliment on her name. It was common enough where she grew up so, to have it treated as something different or special or beautiful she wasn't sure exactly how to react or respond. 'Your name is quite lovely as well, Royale.' While she was sure that the other mare might prefer to be called Roy, Lina was not comfortable calling a mare such a masculine name
Lina had never heard of children not being taught at least the basics such as the different types of soquili out there. It was common sense. After all, if one knew at least the different types, they would know who to avoid and who to go to if they got hurt or needed help. This was just common sense. At least it was to her. Maybe this was just another difference in the way things were done here as opposed to her herd. Different traditions. Different rules. Different stories. All things she wanted to learn, and perhaps in doing so she could also help someone else. She already noted that this mare mentioned a family name… interesting to her as she had met those with no family name, or naming traditions, and some without. Good to know. And the purity thing.. well, it would be interesting to hear more about later, but she focused on what she thought was most pertinent at the moment.
She got flustered when Royale attributed beauty to flutters just because of her. ' Umm, well, it might seem so as most flutters are very fine boned, so their features are delicate, which might seem to make them … pretty. Though I have seen my fair share of… less than attractive flutters as well. I guess they are just like any other kind. And I'm not just a flutter. See,'She tossed her mane to draw attention to her horn. 'I'm also part unicorn as well.'

Roy had no idea that she had made the mare feel a bit uncomfortable. Roy was as blessedly innocent as they came and she never really felt or figured out any sort of social implication to her own actions. She had absolutely no guile or wiles to speak of and in many ways she really reflected a sort of Peter Pan complex. That is to say she had never grown up because her rose tinted glassed had never ad to come off.
“I’ve not heard a name like it truth be told…. Everybody in my family is Gypsy something-or-other for the most part.” She gave a quick giggle… except my great-great… or is it great-great-great… grandma? Well, her name is Lena and she’s…. well… kooky.” That was the best way to describe the wonderful older mare that doted on her as a foal.
“I’m afraid that the time I spent with my family growing up really wasn’t much in the way of an education.” Of course, that hadn’t boethered her until Bane had ranted and railed at her so mightily. Was it really such a big deal for her to have had a conversation with that kalona mare? The mare had been relatively kind to her. Roy’s mind wandered just a little bit, travelling and thinking that nothing bad had come to her from getting to know the mare with the bat-like wings and fangs so maybe the mare really wasn’t that mean. Maybe everybody else was mean to the misunderstood type of Soquili. Oh how sad it would be if that were the case. She snapped to attention once Lina started speaking and focused carefully on learning all that she could. What was the point in going and doing things outside of the home if she wasn’t going to throw her full attention into it anyways?
Roy’s eyes widened with fascination and she found herself wanting to see the horn a bit more closely. “Oh… it’s so hard to imagine soquili being unattractive… All that I’ve met are handsome in their own way.” Of course, she had met very few others….. “Unicorns have horns and.. wings?” Man, she really was feeling quite stupid at this point in time. Maybe Bane had been right….
