Cass had made an outline. Then she had made a very careful list of things she needed to check before she took her proposal back to Aria in terms of funding and specialization. Was this what it felt like to apply to college? To gather up any sort of skill you may have had or were trying to have and go somewhere with it?
'A good location to put to use would be to either find space that is unused currently in the infirmary or to build a new wing onto it to utilize for the purpose of mental health - a location that will both keep an emergency need for medical attention nearby, but also put the sparring grounds nearby in case someone just needs to work out tension in that way and is unsure who else could be asked at such short notice.'
It seemed like a solid thought, but it also meant that she needed to go and get permission from the King of the Lab Infirmary himself. After all, she had a feeling if she just added a new shed to the place it wouldn't go over well.
It was easier to ask permission than to beg forgiveness in this instance, and it was with her little folder in hand that she slowly made her way through the building to the door that even to someone who didn't know would have denoted status and that maybe Cass should have been hoping she'd keep both of her kidneys through this exchange.
With a deep breath, she knocked on the door.

"It's open," the doctor's voice rolled out clearly. The man himself stood at the window, his back toward the door as he observed several hunters making use of the sparring grounds. A smile curled his lips as two Moon hunters appeared to carry one back to the infirmary.

She probably should have been more cautious about opening the door and going in there alone based on the worried glances she received from people who were working in the infirmary themselves.
The looks that said 'Oh, she's in one piece now but she's going to regret this decision someday'.
And maybe she would.
But that day wasn't the day Cass was going to really fear a man she had nothing but very healthy respect for. "Good day, doctor." Cass greeted as she walked fearlessly to stand at the opposite side of his desk, holding her clipboard with both hands. "Do you have a few minutes you could spare for me right now, or is it a bad time?"

Turning to her, the doctor's smile widened into something warmer. "Cassandra, it's never a bad time." Leaning back, he braced himself against the window sill, giving her an assessing once over as he spoke, "Now what can I do for you, my dear?"

If she'd had survival instincts Cass would have been out the door and in a canoe half way to Florida when he smiled and was so friendly towards her.
"Well if you were busy I would have come back later." she smiled back, standing up a bit straighter. "I came to see you because I am looking to specialize and I wanted to see if something was possible." she explained. "I'm looking to become a sort of.....therapist...and I wanted to see if there was a possibility of me adding onto the labs for a sort of...headquarter space?"
Holding onto her outline she'd written up she added - "Of course I'm not looking for financial assistance, just permission - and not for free, I would certainly be in your debt for whatever you feel would be reasonable compensation."
Cass. Cass stop.

Raising his eyebrows, the doctor's smile widened, "Therapist, Cass? Of what sort? Several tragedies have left us with some space, so I'm sure I'll be able to hmmm...accommodate you."

He probably should have been making her nervous, but either Cass was mostly immune to fear (being part Kender was likely) or she had a 'blind to H being potentially the biggest creeper on the island' thing going on. Maybe a mix of both.
"It is actually on the front of said tragedies as well as some personal experience that I have come to feel we could use a general..mm, not quite a psychiatrist but as close to being one as I could without actually needing a medical degree?" Unless she could buy one off the internet or something. "I am just aware there are some of us who may need a place to just get some things taken care of without putting an emotional burden on others." Like herself and how it turned into 'oops sry Petra'.

Standing up, the doctor loomed above her for a moment before placing a hand on her head for a single, gentle moment, and then moving to his desk and pulled out a set of keys. "A friendly ear then? Someone to be on their side, if only for a few hours?" He turned to dangle them in front of her, "It's not an easy burden Cass. Some people here, you won't be able to pull up, but rather, they'll be the ones to drag you down. Are you sure you wish take on that burden? All these lives, deaths, and tragedies?"

She smiled at him, brushing her hair back into place only when the Doctor had turned his back to her before putting her hand back down quickly.
"If that's all I can do, then it's all I can do. It is better for all of us if we have just one person who can handle a little bit of the problem than nothing to help at all." she took a deep breath. "And I will come face to face with suffering and tragedy no matter what I do, better to face it with a smile and hope of a positive outlook."

He lowered the keys, placing them in her hand. "Just remember to care for yourself as you do so, my dear. You aren't without your own personal darkness." Sitting down he pulled out a few pieces of paper, "It's room 108c. I'll see to placing it officially in your name, but it's rather bare at the moment. You will of course, need to see to its furnishing yourself, but," he looked up at her, expression growing a touch grim, an edge of demand slipping into his voice, "I'm sure you'll do quite well, Cass."

Cass just grinned in a way that was a little off for her at the mention of her own personal darkness, sticking one finger through the keyring as she gripped it tightly.
"Of course. I can handle setting it up as is needed." she said, starting quietly as she spoke towards her hand before looking up to him. "Thank you for accommodating me in this matter, sir." Cass nodded her head in a mock bow. "And I am in your debt, let me know if ever I can ever be of assistance to you in return."

She just smiled in that same mildly concerned way. "Well, I appreciate you making time for me and assisting me with," she held up the key-hand, "this. Unless there is anything I could be helping you with now, I'll let you get back to what you were doing."

"Not just yet," his lips curled, just a hint of teeth behind them, "I'll be keeping that debt for awhile, I believe. Accrue some interest, if you will. Now off with you, Cassandra," he shooed her, "...go ease the hearts of the masses."

She nodded as she slipped the keyring into her pocket, taking one step back towards the door. "Of course. I'll be prepared to be on call when you need me, then. Thank you for your time." Cass added before she turned to leave, only wasting on extra moment to make sure the door had been closed behind her.
