l Personality - Rayce is a difficult man to get close to since he doesn't really trust anyone beyond his team. The only people he really cares about are those that he risks his neck with on the battlefield and he would do whatever is necessary to keep them safe. He is a traditional mercenary and will do just about any job as long as the pay is right. He's also not affected by morality like most people so even though he's done horrible things in the past none of it keeps him from sleeping at night.
l Biography - Rayce's father was a raging alcoholic and often beat both him and his mother for as long as he could remember. That in turn made his mother an unstable wreck and whenever she felt stressed or after a beating from her husband she would take it out on Rayce. Needless to say he hated both of them with a passion and when he was twelve he took his father's pistol and shot and killed both of them in cold blood. He didn't feel any remorse at all for his actions, his hatred towards them having run too deep. He spent the rest of his childhood locked up in juvenile detention, then serving the remainder of his sentence in regular prison when he was old enough. While he was serving his sentence, which was reduced because he was so young, he met Taras Kazakov who had been imprisoned for the murder of his father. Over time and watching out for each other Rayce found out that Taras' father had been a famous scientist that had been killed by the Federation which had in turn blamed the crime on his son.
Taras' sentence was a lot longer than Rayce's since the Federation wanted to keep him there and when Rayce was released he made sure to tell his friend to find him on the outside when he got out. The whole experience of being imprisoned for more than half his life left him hardened and uncaring to the world. In short it made him dangerous and taught him to only care about himself. Having nothing to do and nowhere to go after he was released he decided to become a mercenary to stay alive, eventually getting the money and parts needed to have his own mobile suit built. From then on his cutthroat attitude, ruthlessness in battle, and willingness to take almost any job attracted other like-minded mercenaries and he formed the Steel Wolves.
He wasn't surprised to find Taras again shortly after that, having escaped from prison and tracked Rayce down with another of his father's test subjects, Vladimir, in tow. Rayce never really had much of a family before so his comrades in the Wolves have sort of become his new family although he would never admit that to them.
