Her room had been thoroughly cleaned, everything was put away, and Heidi was feeling pretty chill. Spending the afternoon away from Tuck, while boring, had probably been a really good thing for her after spending two straight days with him. It calmed down those um..pesky hormones.

Yes.

That was all that had been. She'd just gotten too excited. That was all. Tuck was um...

...

He was a bro. A very good looking bro. A bro.

The afternoon let her clear her head. It was good. Yes.

She had managed to cook them a dinner right before coming back. She scored mac and cheese heck yes, and she had also brought back a couple bottles of soda and a family-sized bag of chips. Dinner of champions. Heidi was very used to living with men who were not food aficionados of any kind and thus dinner with her own family was usually 'what's in the cupboards/fridge'. It was like a game, really.

Tuck would be there any minute. She looked okay, right? After the Shadow Run and Kitchen Duty she'd taken a shower and tossed on whatever clothes she'd laid eyes on first when she got back to her room; said clothes just happened to be an oversized green sweater large enough to get away with just a pair of happy ice cream leggings underneath. Tuck was a bro! He didn't care what she wore, right? They were just clothes. Heidi really couldn't get why girls wasted so much precious time they could be out doing things on 'oh no does this earring match my bra?' It was just silly. So then why was she checking herself in the mirror again? This was stupid, so stupid. He was just a bro, bros didn't give a crap what their bros looked like because it wasn't something that mattered. Bros.

An afternoon away from Heidi had allowed Tuck to really clear his mind. The minipet s**t might've helped, but by the time he was finished with that, Tuck had only one question that he could ask himself.

What the ******** was he doing?

He'd never messed with virgins. He'd never messed with girls under twenty - and he sure as ******** had never messed with virgins under twenty. Tuck had enjoyed the company of a few older women during his stay at college - it wasn't as if he'd ******** anything that moved. Coming to the island had brought his count up to five, and Tuck didn't think that was anything to brag about. The three girls at college had been women who had understood that the situation would be very no-strings-attached, and they'd been fine with that. He'd been fine with that. Everyone had been fine with that.

So the question remained.

What the ******** was he doing?

Thinking about Heidi experimenting with anyone else hit a sour note deep in his gut. On one hand, it was perfectly normal to experiment. One the other hand, he didn't want her experimenting with anyone but him. If he had three hands, on the third hand would be the fact that she was a virgin and that scared the s**t out of him. A fourth hand would be nice, because on that fourth hand would be Nevada, and he didn't want to hurt anyone. He'd never intended to hurt anyone. Tuck had never been the type to want his cake and eat it too, but here he was, wanting his cake, and wanting to eat the s**t out of that cake too. A fifth hand would hold Candace, though Tuck doubted that that particular woman needed to be handled with kid gloves. She was the type of woman that Tuck usually found himself drawn to. Beautiful. Experienced. Older. Completely no-strings, which was usually what he preferred.

It was so twisted.

After a quick shower and a shave, Tuck almost texted Heidi to let her know he couldn't make it - but he didn't. He'd lost a spar, and while it'd been on purpose, that decision had been made while his thoughts were still all clouded by Heidi. If he called and said he couldn't make it - especially after she'd gone through the trouble to make dinner - he knew that she would probably end up wondering if it had been something she'd done, and Tuck didn't know if he could stand thinking about that.

And so Tuck nabbed his toothbrush and a pillow. If he needed anything else, he could just come back to his room to grab it - wasn't like Heidi lived all the way down the hall. At exactly eight, he found himself standing outside of Heidi's room, clad in gray sweatpants and a short-sleeved white shirt. No shoes, just socks.

What the ******** was he doing?

<Giving Herryk a headache, Theodore.>

Tuck knocked.

Geeze, Tuck was probably the most punctual person Heidi had ever met! Heidi found herself immediately grinning from ear to ear just from the sound of the knock alone. She opened the door for him. "Hey~! Come on in. Oh! Um, do you like Mac and cheese? I managed to make enough to bring back for us." Heidi stepped aside to let Tuck in, closing the door behind him and rocking on her feet beside him. "Have fun with your minipet poop duty?" She asked with a smirk, glancing down at his hand after. Heidi hesitated but she eventually just reached for it, holding his hand in both of hers and finally standing still. This was nice.

And she'd made mac and cheese.

Tuck stepped through the door and turned to say something to Heidi - but she was there, taking his hand, and he kind of wilted just a little. Probably not enough for Heidi to notice... he hoped not enough that Heidi would ******** love food, don't matter what. Mac and cheese sounds fine."

Tuck grinned and squeezed her hand.

"Minipet duty is bullshit. I'd rather spend all day lookin' after pod people than clean up after minipets."

He shook his head and tugged her further into her room so that he could set his toothbrush down and toss his pillow on the bed.

"I fell asleep like three times during pod duty, it was so boring." Heidi rolled her eyes, blowing a bit of hair out of her face and following Tuck as he pulled her along into the room. Oh, he brought his own pillow? She had two! It was okay! He didn't have to go through the trouble.

"I tried the sun training course.." Heidi gave Tuck a playfully haunted stare of horror after that. "I'm glad I'm Moon."

She relaxed again after that, pursing her lips and looking like she was thinking. After a few moments she opened her mouth to speak, closed it again, and let go of Tuck to grab the two bowls and offer one to Tuck. She was starving, she hadnt eaten since lunch. "I've never worked with minipets. Are they cute?"

"I usually try an' grab pody duty with someone else so I at least got someone to talk to. Time passes quicker that way."

He took the bowl of food and immediately went cross-legged on the floor. Chairs were for weaklings - and he didn't want to get food on her bed if he happened to drop something.

"I'm glad you're Moon, too."

Tuck narrowed his eyes at her briefly when she opened her mouth to speak but clapped it shut again.

"You got somethin' you wanna say, short stack? An' minipets poop more'n you think they would. But they're cute, I guess. Mosta them."

He was glad she was a Moon..something so simple really shouldn't get her feeling giddy. She sat on the edge of her bed, digging into her Mac and cheese with a happy little noise. It had been months since she had this. "Yeah, I should've done that. Wanna come with me next time I've got pod duty?" Heidi nudged him playfully with her foot.

When asked if she had something to say she shrugged, shifting on her bed so she was lying on her stomach, her feet kicking in the air behind her. "Nothin' important." She had been about to ask for a kiss was all, really. Later. She didn't want to get herself or him riled up. "I'll do it later, after food." Food was important.

"What's your favorite movie?" Heidi asked randomly, twirling her spoon with her fingers like a tiny baton. "I hear you can rent out movies here. We could watch one." Tonight, tomorrow night, anytime was fine.

Tuck chuckled softly, lifting his shoulders in a shrug as he tore into his food. When she nudged him with her foot he shot her a grin. "I s'pose. Usually I make Evan go with me, but hell, you're a lot prettier'n he is - and you don't make me do the dishes, neither."

He shoveled another bite of food into his mouth, looking thoughtful as he contemplated his favorite movies.

"I like them newer Sherlock movies. Matrix too. Lord of the Rings. The first Star Wars movies that were made - don't get me started on them last three, they don't count in my books. I like comedies, too - so many movies, it's hard to pick just one."

"...How do you know?" Heidi gave Tuck a suspicious look. She wouldn't really make him do dishes, but.. "What would you do to convince me to not make you do dishes, Tuckella?" She asked innocently, finishing her mac and cheese and setting the bowl down on the floor.

She'd seen the Matrix once, she hadn't been impressed. Lord of the Rings was pretty good... "Uh..which're the last three Star Wars? The only one I've seen is um...the one where whatshisfa--oh! The one where Anakin becomes Darth Vader and oh noooo Natalie Portman diiiied.."

At least she didn't pretend to know anything about the series.

Tuck stopped mid-chew, and a piece of macaroni fell out of his mouth as his jaw hit the floor. It took a second for him to regroup, and he quickly picked up the mess he'd made before setting his bowl aside.

"I'ma pretend you didn't say none of that in exchange for not doin' the dishes. I'd say that's one hell of a fair trade. An' then we gonna watch all of the real Star Wars movies. An' then we will never speak of this again."

...Welp, looked like she got her answer. Heidi blinked. "Awww, but..!" She'd wanted a kiss...damnit. She pouted. "I suppose I couldn't interest you in kisses for forgiveness instead?" Heidi whined pitifully, pulling herself off her bed and onto the floor where she laid on her back beside Tuck with the most pitiful look on her face, her eyes wide and her lips pouted. Her bottom lip even quivered a little bit. "I'm soooorrryyyyy~." She tugged at his t-shirt. "Tuuuuuuck."

Heidi lifted her head to put it on his knee. "I'll get the movie for tomorrow night then, I don't have like a television or a laptop or anything so I'd need time to set it up and stuff."
PostPosted: Tue Jun 11, 2013 5:58 pm

Tuck squinted at Heidi. He squinted really hard. When she melted onto the floor and rested her head on his knee, Tuck got even squintier.

"Well."

He looked as if he were doing her a huuuuuuuge favor.

"I mean. I guess I do owe you a kiss. An' you did make dinner. I guess I can forgive you."

Heidi's pout became a grin until he pointed out she'd made dinner. Ah! Yes! That was right! She'd made him dinner! She sighed and flopped down on the floor again, lying on her back with her hands on either side of her head and her eyes closed. She sighed melodramatically. "I slaved over a hot stove for you, the least you can do is forgive me."

She opened her eyes again and smiled. "Tomorrow will be Star Wars movie night."

Tuck cracked up at her dramatics and slid down to rest next to her on the floor.

"What's tonight gonna be then? You got plans?"

He angled himself towards her and braced his head on his hand. His free hand poked at one of the ice cream cones on her leggings.

When Tuck got down to lay on the floor beside her she turned onto her side, propping her head up with one hand and twirling a lock of hair around her finger with the other. "Eh, not really. Not past eating, hanging out, and sleeping. I could offer, like, video games and stuff if I still had 'em. I wanted to pack my games but I had some that my brother always argued were actually his and I stole them," Heidi waved a hand and rolled her eyes. "So I returned them." The truth comes out. "You got any ideas?"

Heidi squeaked as her leg was poked, looking down at the very loud leggings. "Hey now," she protested mildly, reaching over to poke Tuck in the same place. "Don't poke my little ice cream dudes, they're sensitive." She meant it in a completely innocent way, as in poking them was like bullying them and her happy ice cream leggings would become sad ice cream leggings and everything would be ruined forever.
