Anyone who knew Zoan had to admit the old woman had handled her granddaughters disappearance rather well. She didn't beat her in the street and she didn't put together an arranged marriage--yet--so all things considered Winta's return home was a good one. Until her grandmother had barricaded Winta in her room while she slept. In Winta's house you were only separated from the rest of the house by some fabric her grandmother made to give you the illusion that you had a door. When Winta got home Zoan took the fabric sheet down, literally just piled every piece of furniture she could lift and piled it up in front of her room so Winta couldn't get out. When Winta finally woke up the next morning with the smell of food wafting through her room she could only look at her exit and entrance in horror. Oh, this old woman wanted to play games did she? Well two could play at that game. In moments Winta had her previously hidden spear and then was stabbing around the edges of her very small window to open it just enough so that she could slip through. Thankfully it didn't take much. All in the meantime her grandmother was pulling down the barricade, only to find the room having been vacated for several minutes. Maybe it wasn't to late for the old woman to do something crazy.

Once Winta had escaped to the tree floor, she looked for all sorts of items that she could eat. It mostly consisted of bark. Winta was a trooper, she could probably literally survive on anything in Tale. Throw her out of her element? Well that was another story entirely. "Cooky." Winta growled to herself as she tore into a chunk of bark she was carrying. "I shouldn't have come back to Tale." Winta paused. "Hey! Maybe I can move!" Winta grew excited at the thought of moving. Only she was far to young to do that and she actually loved Vers. There was a chance that one day she'd leave it for good but if that was going to happen it was a long, long, long ways off from now and Winta would be damned if the reason she left was because of her grandmother. With an exhale of frustration as she sat down on the ground, leaning up against a tree, Winta pulled out a small piece of wood as well as a carving knife. Making a weapon always made her feel better.

Nuawahn was about five notches away from squealing with delight. His uncle had told him he could meet leaf tribesmen today! His uncle had seen them when the big group had come to Sauti, along with green bug ladies and white-black people with changing skin!
Nuawahn wished he had seen them too, but now he was.

He could have been disappointed when he saw them- they were very similar to wind tribesmen, though they had green eyes, brown hair, and dark skin.
He could have been disappointed that they lived like people, albeit stationary people.

But he wasn't. People were wonderful, and he didn't think they needed to be superawesomespecial people to be so. It would be cool if they were, but they weren't and that was fine!
Vers was fine! He was sure everybody was nice.
They were still on the outskirts though- he'd wanted to look around with his cousin while dad and uncle did boring things like talk. Nuawahn didn't see why he had to talk to people just to be let into the forest village- which was pretty cool in itself- and he wanted to look around.

Suddenly, something caught his attention and he frowned pensively.
"Su?" he turned to his female cousin and tugged her hand. "What is that woman doing?" he asked, pointing to Winta.

"Well, I don't know, Nuey." she said, smiling down at him. Gods, he was cute. She couldn't help smiling every time she looked at him. A pain in the a**, but cute as anything. She found it hard to stay mad at him for long.
"Lets go look!" he said, pulling her along behind him.
"Whoa"
"Hiiiii miss! What are you doing?" Nuawahn asked, dragging his cousin right up to Winta.
Gods damn it, did the boy have no fear?
"Sorry about this..." laughed Suen. She didn't fear that much, but if she had to use her sword she would. Its comforting weight at her side prevented her from holding her cousin back completely.
La'amu followed sedately. She wasn't in a rush.

To say Winta had been surprised by he little boy with his cousin in tow would have been an understatement. Her eyes grew large for a moment as her whole body tensed up. She wasn't easy to startle most of the time but she still had her moments. Usually when she was barely focused on something. "I think I'm making a stake." Winta replied, her attention now fully resting on the boy. Oh my gosh. He's so adorable! Was her first thought when she saw him. After she had a moment to fully take in the adoableness of Nuawahn she smiled at his cousin and shook her head. "It's fine. He's not bothering me."

Winta also noticed La'amu following a long at her own pace. Seemed like the whole troop was out for a stroll today. "Are you from around here?" Winta asked, noticing the difference in their appearance and dress. Not that they didn't have various walks of life living in her small settlement but everyone knew who they were. For the most part. "I'm Winta."

"A Stake?" He strained against his cousin's grip- he wanted to see! "Why are you making that? Is it for a tent?" he asked, smiling up at her.
Then she said her name and his whole face seemed to light up.
"Winta! Winta Winta Winta!"
It was such a fun name to say! "Did your mommy and daddy name you after the snowy season?" he bet they did! That was so neat!

"Does it even snow at all here?" Suen shook her head, "Well, I'm Suen, and this rascal is Nuawahn." she said, "And we're not from around here, no. We're.."

"We're from Sauti!" said Nuawahn, still trying to wiggle his hand free so he could go look at the leaf woman properly, "And this is the Tale! And it's really sandy here!"

"Yes, Neuy, yes it is." Augh, the boy was such a headache... but so cute.

Amma was unimpressed by her boy's enthusiasm or the leaf woman. She was fine herself- Capramel were bred to be sturdy and to survive in harsh environments- but she was already tired of sand everywhere and was hoping for some nice water and a rest for her old bones.

The cute boy standing in front of her made her laugh a little at his responses. "I guess it could be." Winta looked at the stake for a moment before shrugging. That wasn't the only reason she laughed. Apparently her name could mean a multitude of things and until that moment she hadn't thought about the possibility of it meaning snow. "Winta means desire." She laughed. "I like the idea you came up with though." Winta winked in a kind manner.

"It's nice to meet you Suen, Nuawahn. I've never seen it snow here before." Her grandmother had never mentioned snow falling here in any of the pervious generations. Her family kept an extensive history. It was a little insane but when you were from a line of pureblooded Leafs who were proud of that fact, well it wasn't that hard to believe. "Sauti? I've been through there!" Winta grinned. "What brought you to Tale?" She asked, wondering why two kids would venture this far from home.

"Whats 'desire?'" asked Nuawahn, looking at Suen. Suen had all the answers.

"It means to want, Nuey." said Suen, "Anyway, we're here with our caravan to set up some trading routes."

"We're gonna give people things and get things in return..." he turned back to Winta... She was pretty!
"No snow?" he asked, puzzled, "No snow at all? Never?" it was a hard concept to grasp, "Why is there no snow here? Is it because there's already sand?" The sand was like the snow, but different. It didn't melt, even though it slipped and slided. Maybe the snow was jealous of the sand because it didn't melt, and didn't want to talk to it at all...
Nuawahn thought that was sad.

"...I think it has more to do with the heat, Neuy..." said Suen, shaking her head, "And there's not much water around here. Speaking of..." she lifted her canteen, "Anywhere I can refill this?"
