This is a private RP between Nisshou H's Kouichi Tenjou and his familiar Winnie. Please take a moment to marvel at how big bears are (cause I sure as snot did) and remember not to post without invitation.

It never failed to surprise Kouichi Tenjou how time changed all things. It healed wounds both physical and emotional. It brought about the seasons. It wore away at the strength of boulders and whittled away new paths. Most importantly, it made small things grow into large things. Kouichi’s vibrant blue eyes wandered down to spare the bear plodding along at his side a glance. Very large. Winnie, as he had named her, easily reached his shoulder now. Kouichi could still remember a time when she could almost ride on his back comfortably. If she tried that now, Kouichi had the distinct feeling that she would crush him. Thankfully his dear bear had some sense about such things. That wasn’t to say that she hadn’t tried to clamber up onto his back long after she had grown too bulky in the past. But she seemed to recognize very quickly that such a task was hazardous to his health and would leave him be almost immediately after starting the attempt. It showed a remarkable amount of intelligence for a bear that could not speak and, aside from her innate ability to always locate Kouichi, showed no signs of being spirit touched. In the end it hardly mattered if she was a gift from the spirits or not. She was his companion now, plain and simple. He watched her back and she watched his. When he could not speak reason with intruders she could get them to back away as though protecting him (and his kin) was her entire purpose in life.
They were a perfect team. Winnie and the knight-prince. Perhaps that was why Revyra allowed the two to go on long patrols separate from any others. Kouichi looked up at the sky through the thick trees of the forest. The summer sun was high in the sky. That meant only one thing, “Winnie, how about a break?”

He would never know. Kouichi would never know that she understood his every word but that hardly troubled the black bear. She cared not that she could not speak his words. All that mattered is that she was by his side and he seemed to feel the same so all was well. Her ears swiveled as Kouichi's voice entered them. She turned to look at him and let out a rumbling yawn at his suggestion of taking a break. She was starting to feel a bit peckish.

Kouichi smiled at his furry friend and laughed. "Me too." He said as he led the way to a shaded spot close to the little stream who's path they roughly followed. He took a long drink from the water and then moved to graze on the plant life growing about. This was their life, his and Winnie's, and it was good. No, it was perfect.
