It was noon and Rayolun was out stalking his lunch. He'd painted leaves and stripes in a dull white paint upon his black skin to help him hide in the speckled shadows of the Jungle floor. Usually he hunted in the canopies, but today he wanted something different to eat so he'd descended to the jungle floor. He was careful to never actually walk on the ground, preferring to lurk along tree trunks and use vines to go from tree to tree.
Rayolun had to be careful for several reasons, there were Alkidikes living in this area as well as other predators. He wasn't sure he wanted to run across them, they seemed to him very loud and dangerous. His uncle had told him the history between shifters and Alkidikes and he understood some of the antagonism and was certain that should he get discovered by one of them, he may have to fight or flee. Better to slink and hide and never be seen he thought.

Being that he was half alkidike this hybrid didn't seem to be wary of many things...if ..anything. Walking along an upper branch he was trying to figure out the best way to get to the islands. After all he appeared mostly shifter with his skin tone it was only the fact his skin didn't shift and his hair was ...unruly and often too much like his mothers. He was the sore thumb of his village but he never let that bother him. In fact he often killed the people with kindness, to the point he became aggressively happy.
Munching on a piece of fruit he paused when he could of sworn that he had seen something move on the forest floor below. Squinting he used a hand to act like binoculars before he took another thoughtful bite of his breakfast. Should he go say hello? Well...he wasn't entirely sure what it was in that bush...for all he knew it could be a radaku or something equally as big. It may be something that would like to have him for breakfast...a unsettling thought.
Perhaps he should toss a stone into the bush? see what he flushes out? But...the stones were on the ground.. another bite of his fruit and he realized the large pit from it would be the perfect ammo. Working his lips around it he removed whatever flesh he was able to before spitting it back out. Then..he took aim and threw it rather hard at the bush eager to see what was hiding in there.

Rayolun heard something rustle above him, and as he turned to see what it was he got hit with something. It didn't hurt, just stung a little and he picked up a.. pit? Someone had thrown the pit of a fruit at him!
"Funny, very funny." He growled up at the shadowy figure.
He quickly clambered up the tree nearest him and leaped to the branch the other was sitting on.
"Is there a reason you've interrupted my hunting?" He asked grumpily. He could tell that this was not a pure shifter. The other man's skin was still pale, plus his antennae and thick hair gave away his Alkidike parentage. How strange he thought to himself. Never though the shifters and Alkidikes could get along long enough to have kids...

Running a hand through his dreads, (not an easy task mind you) he watched with quiet satisfaction as something did stir from the bushes, although what came out was hardly what he was expecting. A man came out from the bush covered in ...dirt and leaves. What was he rolling around down there? A shifter though he was, it was easy to tell since his skin was dark due to the sun being out.
"I dunno I thought it was pretty funny." He grinned leaning forward to see just what this shifter was about. "Oh? Is...that what you were doing?" Gerraden actually sounded surprised as he leaned over holding onto a branch so he could look around the shifter and back to the bush the other had been sitting in.
"Catch anything?" The hybrid asked looking back to him. Perhaps introducing yourself should of come first, but Gerraden was too curious.

Rayolun glared at the other man as he crossed his arms.
"You interrupted me to.. chat with?" He sighed disgustedly.This must be a villager, they all seem so fond of gossiping and pestering each other.
"And I just started my hunt, so why would I have caught anything yet? It takes time..." He growled as he sat back against the branch.

Anger welled up in him, well how was he suppose to know how long he had been hiding in that bush?? Calm down...no sense getting angry. A forced smile was on his face as he looked the guy over. It was still kinda funny that he through a pit at him.
"Didn't mean to bother you, I just saw something hiding in a bush, thought I would try and flush it out. And look what i caught! Though I don't know if you would be very tender...maybe I should let you go?" Gerraden was teasing the fellow, after all maybe he had a sense of humour though he some how doubted it.
Looking back at the bush he wondered just how successful someone would be just sitting waiting for prey to stumble across him.
"So a hunter huh? Looks like your trying a different method. I can applaude that. I like different."

Rayolun felt an unwilling smile twitch at his lips. Well, if he'd seen or sensed something in the bush he'd have tried to flush it out too. And it was rather, amusing in hind sight to be flushed out by a fruit pit...
He gave a soft chuckle and let the grin show.
"Well, this particular catch would love to not be eaten. And as for hunting, I like to change it up sometimes. I prefer to chase, but I can trap and shoot from a distance as well." He used whatever method would catch the food when he was hungry. Plus some days you wanted to stalk the prey through the undergrowth for hours and others you just wanted your food now.

Gerraden noticed instantly the twitch of the lips, he was getting to him. Excellent. When he chuckled he almost wished he could high five the guy for giving into the fun! He went to poke the other's arm as if making sure he was inedible before shaking his head giving a tsking sound.
"See this is why I leave it up to the pro's, I always find something I can't eat." He drawled before giving a laugh. Crouching down he leaned forward slightly to see if he could figure out how long someone would have to sit in a bush for prey to come about them.
"It...seems awful boring. I mean I know hunting it hard but at least if your tracking it it seems more...pro..ductive? " The hybrid stated with a slight nod of his head. "But this is why I am not a hunter. Never intent to be. I am more a gatherer of information and smiles." He chuckeled as he looked back up to the shifter. "Names Gerraden. You?"

Rayolun shrugged, "Sitting in a bush and waiting is actually better than stalking. You waste less energy on patience, but it can be boring." Not that that'd been what he was doing. He'd only been in that bush for a short amount of time, checking for Wadana and any traces of their burrows before he ventured out on the open ground. But there was no point in telling this to Gerraden, he was, by his own admission, not a hunter.
"Rayolun." He looked about the place, and decided to ask something that'd been on his mind for a bit.
"No offense, but my Uncle always told me Alkidikes and Shifters didn't get along. So how would a child of both come about?"

Gerraden had been smiling until the question popped up, it wasn't really like he had an answer to it, after all it felt natural to him his parents acted like any other parents would didn't they?
"Well I would assume the same way you came about." The hybrid replied with a smug smile, obviously retorted with bit of sarcasm in his voice. "And some people say that the sun and moon are enemies, would you believe them just because someone told you that?" He continued a moment before realizing he went a bit far. Okay so the subject of his 'existing' was a touchy one and he shouldn't get all defensive about it. Right?
"Sorry Rayo, that came out ..more sarcastic than intended. My parents met, fell in love...you know the birds and the bee's part and here I am. Not much else to tell you other than that."

Rayolun chuckled at Gerraden's response. "No offense taken. It was a rude question. But I meant, how could people who are supposed to be enemies fall for each other?" Maybe it was a villager thing.. he'd met some other lone hunters and quite a few had angry things to say abut Alkidikes and how they were trying to kick the Shifters out of their home jungles, attacking lone Shifters.. One had actually lost an eye to an Alkidike. So Rayolun knew there was some hostility between the two...
But maybe villagers didn't' get attacked as often so they didn't dislike Alkidikes as much?

It was a common question that arose, why did two sworn enemies fall in love? He supposed it was like how anyone else would fall in love, they got to know and understand each other. But to the question he just shrugged as his response, he wasn't going to guess why his parents fell in love and had him.
"I dunno, maybe they were rebels." He said it as a joke but it could of been very likely. Gerraden though was getting tired of the focus being on his parents and well his existence so time to switch it back to hunting
"So were you after something specific on your hunt? Or just hoping something would come past?"

Gerarden's tone was joking, but Rayolun took his comment seriously. Maybe that was why... though it seemed strange to him, this idea of rebellion. Maybe because he'd never lived in a village where there was a hierarchy and people butted heads all the time. Out in the wild, you followed your betters in the hunt because to do otherwise would, at best, leave you hungry since you threw the hunt or, at worst, dead since you disturbed something too dangerous.
Rayolun smiled at Gerraden's next words, didn't want to talk about his parents? He could relate to that. Hard to talk about parents you'd never met before.
"Wasn't just sitting and waiting. I was looking for a spot to set a snare. Traps are often the best way of hunting, not as exciting as chasing you prey, but much more efficient." Traps were hunting with out being there, the animals would never see the trap since no sound or scent of you would be there to alert them!

The hybrid looked to the forest floor again. Snares huh? It was hard to imagine anything stupid enough to just...wander into a trap that was so obvious. Then again that was why he wasn't a hunter. No interest in that sort of stuff. No he had grander plans! Like going over to the isles and proving to the alkidikes there that hybrids were better!
"Traps huh? You could dig a hole..cover it in leaves or something." He offered the suggestion as...well...it was the only thing that came to mind. "So which village are you from? I don't think I've seen you around before." Was his next question a much more curious one at that. Gerraden liked to meet new people...so it only made sense that he wasn't to know where this guy was from.

Rayolun chuckled.
"Pits are useful for large prey, though difficult to disguise and hide. I'm just hunting for myself, so I only need to catch small animals. As for where I'm from," he shrugged, "I don't recall the name of the village. My parents died when I was just a babe and my uncle took me in. Been living in the jungle ever since." Of course he hadn't been seen about here before, Rayolun tried to stay away from villages mostly; there usually wasn't very good hunting near them anyways.
