He is almost there! Soon, soon he’d be able to meet Lazarus! The white Sigel barely paid any heed to the pedestrians who were forced to jump out of the way or risked being run over by the ecstatic Raevan. Sooty from the fire and bedraggled from the bumpy bus ride, this was certainly one of Xiu’s less dignified moments.
But that hardly dampened the Sigel’s spirit as he tried the front door of the Lab. It was locked.
…
Well, that had to be expected seeing the lateness of the hour. For a minute the Sigel was left pondering if he should float up to knock on Lazarus’ bedroom window. This thought however was soon dispelled when the sound of sweeping could be heard coming from where the outdoor cafeteria was. Perhaps there was someone there who could let him into the Lab.
Hastily floating over, Xiu’s smile widened when he saw that it was none other than Lazarus himself who was on cleaning duty today. To catch the Fire Sigel’s attention, Xiu made sure to rattle the latch on the cafeteria’s gate as he let himself in. For a brief moment, Xiu entertained the thought of simply kissing Lazarus then and there in the open. But etiquette soon took over and Xiu was left pondering if there was someplace private within the lab where a kiss and gentle words could be shared. Preferably someplace without a CCTV.

It had been a while since anyone had cleaned the cafeteria on the outside, lord knows how long had it been since anyone ate outside there. Cannot bear to see the poor state of the place anymore, Lazarus decided to clean it since it's nice and sunny outside today. He had been at it for about an hour or so and almost done, sweeping the leaves and rubbish up into a heap when a rattle was heard on the gate behind him.
For a moment he wondered who could it be, usually Raevans or their guardians would ring the bell at the front door, so he thought it was some stranger, probably wondering if the cafe is open. Until he turned around and saw a face more than familiar to him. "Xiu!" Not only that, but something doesn't look right. Why are his clothes disheveled and why is he dirty all over, stained with something black?
Eyes widening, he dropped the broom onto the floor with a loud tap as he rushed to Xiu's side. "What happened?" His voice genuinely worried as he cupped the other's face, examining him up and down to see if there are any wounds or injuries. The smell was distinctive enough for him to recognize, the smell of smoke. "Are you hurt?!" Lazarus fussed as he draw up Xiu's sleeves to examine his arms. Why are Raevans so notorious for putting themselves in danger?

The concerned manner in which Lazarus was rushing over to him suddenly made Xiu realize how terrible he must have looked with his sooty clothes and messy hair. It’s okay! I’m fine! Xiu had wanted to say as Lazarus patted and fussed over him but the Sigel gave him no chance to. Finally, in mild frustration, the white Sigel stilled Lazarus’s hands with his own. Looking fondly up at Lazarus, Xiu gave the other a small smile.
I am okay mouthed Xiu.
The expression of relief on Lazarus’ features was evident as the Fire Sigel allowed his wings to sag and his posture took on an overall relaxed pose. Seeing Lazarus like this made Xiu love him all the more.
Lazarus… said Xiu soundlessly as he caressed the other’s cheek.
Then, because it seemed right, Xiu leaned up and kissed Lazarus gently on the lips. Perhaps emboldened by the events that had occurred in the Secret Garden, the kiss shared between the two Raevans that evening was passionate with no concern paid to their surroundings.
When Xiu finally pulled away, his heart was thudding rapidly within his chest. This is it. The moment he had been yearning for for so long.
“Lazarus…,” said Xiu, his voice barely above a whisper.
“I love you,”

Lazarus only relaxed and sighed in relief when Xiu said he was okay. There wasn't any burns or wounds as far as he can see, just soot and his messy hair. The fire Sigel still wanted to demand what in the world happened that made Xiu into such a mess though. Before he could say anything however, he was silently surprised by the kiss.
Closing his eyes, he savored the gentle kiss. It was firm, but still very sweet, made sweeter by the fact that Xiu initiated the kiss instead of him. Then just as sudden that it came, it ended as suddenly.
There were a lot of thoughts circulating in his mind at that moment as their lips parted. Why did Xiu kissed him so suddenly? What made him so bold? And there was still the pressing question of where Xiu was that made him look the way he does now. However, all thoughts were blown away from his mind as Xiu spoke, his voice so soft that Lazarus thought he was hearing things. But he was sure, he was sure that Xiu... spoke!
The stunned expression on Lazarus face was evident. With his eyes wide and his lower jaw dropped in a slack-jawed position. For the first time in his life, he was the one without words as he stared at Xiu in disbelief. Then a clear ring of laughter escaped the fire Sigel's mouth as his feelings soared. It was a hearty, joyous sound as Lazarus wrapped his arms around Xiu's body tightly in a big bear hug. If Xiu had legs, Lazarus would have lifted him from the ground as he spun the both of them around happily. His laughter still echoing into their surroundings.
When they finally stopped spinning, Lazarus still held Xiu tightly, his emotions welling up in him as he buried his face in Xiu's hair. "I love you too..." He whispered softly, his voice choked from his overwhelming emotions. Then he planted his lips to Xiu's again in another firmer, more passionate kiss.

Lazarus’s laughter was joined with Xiu’s own as the Fire Sigel embraced him in a bear-like hug. Then, the fire Sigel did the unexpected by twirling the both of them around and around until Xiu’s eyes swam. Just as the white Sigel was about to pull away from sheer giddiness, Lazarus stopped and held Xiu tightly in his arms.
"I love you too..."
A blush formed across Xiu’s pale features as Lazarus held him close. There was that unmistakable wavering timbre in Lazarus’ voice that told the Sigel just how overwhelmed Lazarus was by the situation as well.
“Lazarus…,” said Xiu softly, his own voice choked with emotion. “Lazar-,”
The kiss came suddenly and passionately and Xiu found himself lost in the moment as Lazarus continued to tease and tempt him with the kiss. There was fire in that kiss of Lazarus’s and Xiu found himself pulling away breathlessly several moments later.
“That was…fantastic,” murmured Xiu with a deep blush. “But…,”
Just then, a large gust of wind blew the swept leaves across the empty cafeteria, rendering Lazarus’s hard work to a naught. Along with the wind was the distinct smell of approaching rain. Xiu shivered. It had been a long day and the Sigel suddenly found himself yearning for a warm bath and a clean set of clothes.
“Perhaps we should take shelter inside,” said Xiu apologetically as he pulled away from Lazarus. “And…do you think…I could stay the night?”

Fantastic. That was Xiu's choice of word for their kiss. For some reason it made Lazarus feel happier, a little proud even. He would have swept Xiu up into another kiss but the wind will have none of that as it blew the fire Sigel's hard work away. The incubus however didn't mind at all. In fact, the blowing of leaves tumbling back down to earth around them seem to make the moment a little more romantic even.
However, Xiu was right as he pulled away. Although the request about him staying the night did took Lazarus by surprise. "Yeah, of course!" Finally able to stay up all night and chat with Xiu? Sounds like a great idea. He has so many questions that is still burning inside his mind, but he will wait until Xiu is ready tell him, maybe over a cup of warm tea when he is clean and comfortable.
Picking up the broomstick, he took it back into the cafeteria with him and made it lean against the wall just by the door. He didn't notice it before, but when he hugged Xiu just now, he himself got stained with soot too. Only through the reflection of the glass doors did he saw the soot on his cheek that he contracted from Xiu's hair. With his fingers he rubbed the black stain away, then he saw that his hand was sort of blackish too. So it made the stain on his face a little worse than before.
"I think the both of us need a shower." He chuckled as he led Xiu upstairs, finding the situation more amusing than anything. "You can use the bathroom in my room. And I'll use the one in Kyou's room." When they reached his room, he picked out some new towels and a huge white t-shirt for Xiu from his drawers, and hands them to Xiu. Then he picked out some change of clothes for himself too.

“Yes, a shower sounds rather good right now,” said Xiu as he followed Lazarus into the cafeteria and up the familiar stairs to where the bedrooms are. It was getting late, the Sigel knew, and he should call his guardian soon or she would start to worry. Perhaps, he would do so after the shower when he had settled down a little. However, when Lazarus handed him the towels and a huge white shirt (Xiu did not think that it belonged to Lazarus), the White Sigel seemed uncertain and sheepish.
“Umm…Lazarus?” said Xiu in a small voice as his gaze fell everywhere except on the Fire Sigel. It was a preposterous thought; the white Sigel knew that and yet he could not simply push the thought away. Now or never the white Sigel thought with a sudden rakish impulse.
“Do you think we could…perhaps… t-take a shower….together?” the white Sigel stammered as he held the white shirt and towel close to his chest and smudging them slightly. “O-Only… my wings are a pain to clean on my own and …and…yeah,” finished the Sigel lamely. Face taking on an odd shade of pink even under all the soot, Xiu looked away embarrassed. “I-I understand if you are uncomfortable with it,” continued Xiu, his thoughts barreling through at breakneck speed on how crazy this idea now seemed. “B-But we are both guys right? No…h-harm,”

The invitation into the shower was not only surprising for Lazarus, it was quite surreal too. For a moment he just floated there with his eyes wide and his fingers clutching the towels, thinking maybe this was a dream after all. If that was the case, he wished it wouldn't end. Xiu's bold shyness, and the way he tried to rationalize his request with excuses, are some of his more endearing points.
A touch of red graced Lazarus's facial features too as he smiled softly. "Sure, I'll clean your wings for you." Although the thought of ravishing Xiu in the shower was very tempting, the fire Sigel decided to follow the other's pace and respect him. He don't want to scare him away after all.
Opening the bathroom door, he let Xiu passed through first before pulling a fairly new looking laundry basket over. It looked barely used. "Just throw your dirty clothes in here, I'll do the laundry afterwards." With whatever Xiu just went through, he's probably tired. He couldn't help Xiu then, he will help Xiu now. Lazarus did Kyou's laundry a few times before so he know how the machines worked.
Blushing a little as he threw a glance at Xiu, he took off his clothes and dumped it into the basket. His wings folding neatly behind him when he's topless. He tried to not pay heed to the fact that he was topless (and to him, practically naked) and went to hang his towel on the handle of the door to the shower stall, before heading in to adjust the water temperature. At this moment, Lazarus had his back to Xiu. Giving him some form of privacy to disrobe.

From the moment those words left his lips to the point when Lazarus answered them, Xiu was left staring wide eyed at the Fire Sigel. The pause could only have been a moment but to Xiu’s racing mind, they felt like eternity. Grasping the towel tightly in his balled fists, Xiu had all but backed out, admitted that he was not thinking straight, that it was the stress talking; when Lazarus answered “yes” with a soft smile. The Sigel’s body visibly relaxed at this but the blush still remained.
“Thank you, Lazarus,” said Xiu gratefully as he floated a little too quickly through the bathroom door. When Lazarus motioned to the new laundry basket, Xiu felt almost guilty about placing his soot stained clothes into it but before he could protest Lazarus had already politely turned his back to him.
Blushing deeply, Xiu took his time with his clothes. First to go into the basket was the rather complex girdle that encircled his waist. Then, it was his white robe. Xiu was amazed that despite all that it had been through, it still came out fairly white after a wash in the washing machine and hoped that this would still be the case. This was then followed by his arm sleeves; he was rather fond of them.
Finally, the White Sigel was left with his grey vest. Fumbling with the intricate Chinese buttons, it took Xiu several tries to get them undone.
When the last of the buttons had been unbuttoned and the vest safely deposited into the clothes basket, Xiu realized that the Fire Sigel had already went ahead to adjust the water temperature. Grabbing his towel, Xiu hastily floated in after Lazarus.
“H-Hey,” said Xiu, his mouth feeling dry all of a sudden as his eyes seemed transfixed onto a point slightly to the left of Lazarus’s shoulder. Unbeknownst to even himself, Xiu had raised the towel to his chest and was gripping it tightly while his blush grew ever deeper.

Xiu was taking his own sweet time to disrobe, it made sense since he wore so many layers compared to Lazarus. So when the fire Sigel is done adjusting the water temperature, he took some time to rearrange the toiletries since he isn't the neatest person. Shampoo, conditioner, liquid soap, facial cleanser, and maybe a shower pouf to clean Xiu's wings with?
When Xiu entered the shower stall he finally turned around to face him, only to find Xiu staring at the scar on his shoulder. Instinctively he reached up to touch it. That's right, the scar that Xiu left when he bit into his shoulder two years ago when he went into blood lust. It left a scar but it had faded a little over time. Lazarus supposed Xiu never saw it because the area was always covered in his normal attire. And well, he had never taken off his clothes in front of Xiu since then, up until now.
"Don't worry about it, it's just a scar. It doesn't hurt or anything." He smiled reassuringly. "And I think you should leave his outside..." Reaching over, he picked the towel from Xiu's hands and draped it over his own on the stall's door handle on the outside. The water splattering to the floor from the shower already sending a mist of tiny water droplets into the air. The towel would get wet in here.
When the towel was out of the way, then only did Lazarus see Xiu totally topless before him for the first time. And he couldn't help but blush, trying not to stare too long at his perfect fair skin. "The toiletries are here." He gestured to the rack in the corner, trying to distract his gaze and attention. "I... only have one shower pouf though." He held the soft blue ball in his hand. "You think this would work on your wings?"

The sight of the scar on Lazarus’ shoulder had given Xiu quite a shock. He had never knew …and Lazarus had never told him. Blue eyes looked guiltily at Lazarus.
But before anymore could be said on the matter, Lazarus had suddenly reached out and taken the towel out of Xiu’s grasp. The white Sigel stared numbly as Lazarus casually draped the towel onto the stall’s outer door handle. Xiu was suddenly aware of how…enclosed the two of them were…
Blushing but resisting the urge to cover himself with his hands (that would have been both confusing and awkward), Xiu gave Lazarus what he hoped was a casual grin as he tried to nonchalantly run his fingers through his hair. Truth be told, the white Sigel was feeling rather like a bundle of jittery but excited nerves at the moment. Oh, the audacity of it all! Never had he broken this many taboos in a single day!
“Ah, yes. The soap,” said Xiu glancing at the neatly arranged toiletries. “You seem to have a nice selection…,”
But all pretenses were laid bare when Lazarus held up the shower pouf. Instantly, Xiu had the mental image of Lazarus washing not only his wings but the rest of his body as well. No,no,no! screamed the conservative part of his mind while his face only took on a deeper shed of pink.
“Uh…ah….,” said Xiu, fearing for the sanctity of his thoughts. “Only if you do not mind it…ending up a different colour from its current hue,”

Xiu's apparent nervousness only made him nervous as well. But he want to enjoy the shower, not be two awkward, nervous boys stuck together naked in a shower stall. The stall was big enough for the two of them, as long as they don't flap their wings unnecessarily. So in order to nullify this contagious nervous atmosphere, Lazarus will have to take initiative and act as normal as one can be in a shower stall. And that means... actually taking the shower!
"Don't worry about the shower pouf, I can always get a new one. Here, you use first." Lazarus said as he handed the blue fluffy ball to Xiu, nearly needing to stuff it in the other's hands. "I'll shampoo first while you wash yourself." He instructed, pointing at the lavender liquid soap on the rack. Then he turned around and stood under the water, letting the water wet his hair and body as he shut his eyes. He just floated there for a long moment, letting the water run along his body as he moved and angled his head around. Turning around, he made sure his hair was thoroughly wet before moving aside to let Xiu under the shower too.
While doing this, he stole a few glances of the other's body before directing his gaze to grab the bottle of shampoo from the rack. Xiu was skinnier than him, and not as toned as well. But the white Sigel sure as hell have great looking skin! Squeezing a generous amount of shampoo onto his palm, he began to rub it into his hair, but not forgetting to look at Xiu under the water too as he did so.

Just when Xiu thought that the situation could not have gotten any more awkward, Lazarus made the bold decision of actually initiating the shower. Holding the offered shower pouf awkwardly in his hands, Xiu blatantly watched as Lazarus soaked himself under the shower. Then remembering the soap, Xiu squirted some of that lavender scented liquid onto the pouf. By then Lazarus had finished wetting himself and was making room for Xiu to have his turn at the shower. As their bodies passed close by each other, Xiu could feel his breath caught in his throat and was only able to exhale after Lazarus had moved back.
The water from the shower was delightfully warm and Xiu felt himself relaxing after what seemed like a long while. Smooshing the pouf repeatedly until a thick layer of foam had formed, Xiu began washing himself with the blue pouf. It felt odd to be soaping your body before soaping your hair but given the strange circumstances of it all, allowances had to be made.
As expected, the wings were a challenge and Xiu could only make partial ineffective swipes at them as he tried to get at the soot that lodged itself within the cervices of his wings. Finally giving up and offering the pouf embarrassedly to Lazarus, Xiu gave the Fire Sigel a sheepish grin. “Perhaps…you could help… while I wash my hair?”

To tell the truth, it was rather amusing to see Xiu try to reach impossible areas on his wing. It was a miracle that Xiu didn't pull a muscle somewhere trying to stretch back like that. To be completely honest though, Lazarus should tell Xiu that he has a long handle bath brush that he normally used to wash his back and his wings. It's just hung right underneath the rack. But at the moment, he decided not to enlighten Xiu about it. Besides, Xiu still wouldn't be completely sure if he had cleaned every single crevice on his wings from soot... was the excuse Lazarus had as he took the shower pouf offered.
Carefully, he maneuvered behind Xiu in the small space. It was tricky as he needed to be mindful of the glass walls of the shower stall, and the fact that Xiu's wings are basically made of jade, he could shatter the stall if he flick his wings too hard.
Then he got to work cleaning the white Sigel's wings. Lathering the pouf up with more liquid soap, he began scrubbing, working his way from the outside towards the inside. There was more soot than he thought, and the tips of his wings also looked a little charred even. "What really happened? Did you run into a burning building or something?" It was the only logical explanation he could think of, not knowing that he guessed correctly.

Xiu held his wings still as Lazarus carefully slid behind them. Although the shower cubicle was large, Xiu was quite sure it was not meant to accommodate two Raevans and their large wings with ease. When Lazarus finally began scrubbing his wings, Xiu felt a slight shiver run down the length of his spine. Choosing to ignore it, Xiu quickly turned his attention to the washing of his hair. Squirting some of the floral scented shampoo onto his palm, Xiu began lathering and scrubbing his hair vigorously. It felt good to be getting all that soot and dirt off.
“Actually… the situation you described was exactly what happened,” said Xiu with a sheepish chuckle; knowing full well that Lazarus would be horrified to learn that. “And it has led me to getting my voice back so all is well,”
Glancing back, Xiu gave Lazarus fond smile. “And would you believe it? It was all thanks to a frei’s help actually. Do you know Cesc? Pink haired raevan; beautiful golden eyes? He has… a very interesting skill. It helps one locate things which have been lost. That was how we found the voice. Apparently the Trader has traded it with a shape-shifting demon,”
“And…the Trader would have had it end badly too,” said Xiu with a solemn tone. “That demon traded his powers for a normal voice and his beloved would have been killed in a fire if we hadn’t rescued her,”
“I wonder…will I ever be able to stop that Trader…,” said Xiu softly to himself.
Realizing how awkward this must have been getting, Xiu then gave out an embarrassed laugh as he stirred himself out of that uncomfortable mood. “ Look at me, telling all of this to you over the back of my shoulder in the shower. Stranger things cannot possible happen today,”
