Chase took great pleasure in the nights he could escape on patrol without his tag-along charge Eos. Sometimes he felt terrible about how...relieved he would feel when she would decline his offer or simply not be around when he chose to patrol but other days he didn't seem to care at all. Lately, the pink-streaked haired man's emotional spectrum was all over the place.
No longer needing to sneak out, Lara had stopped paying attention to what Chase did or didn't do as long as he kept up on work, he left his house just as the sun began to set. Once, he had enjoyed how in the summer the days were longer and nights seemingly shorter but now, he wished for the long winter nights. He felt more comfortable in the darkness than light.
A part of him wanted to turn to his garage and pull out his bullet bike and waste time with that but the other part, the duty bound part, kept nagging him to patrol. So patrol he did. It didn't take him long to duck into the darkness of an alley and assume the powered form he was far too comfortable in. Black dress shoes traded for pink saddled boots, jeans and a t-shirt traded for a blue old-styled military suit, and a black hood came to sit on his head with the pink of his hair just barely poking out.
Captain Labyrinthite was ready for the night. He stood tall, amber eyes sweeping around the surrounding area, before stepping back and laying himself flat against a wall. His head tilted back to judge the height difference, then he was sprinting forward and vaulting himself off the ground. He landed on the rooftop with practiced grace, weapon materializing in his hand as he landed, and took off running.
He would settle upon his favorite 'perch' waiting for a signal to explore.

Domey liked the night hours, they agreed with him. That's part of the reason he didn't mind the extra gig. Skulk around at night in a super hero costume and steal energy from strangers? Well, it was almost perfect. They were quieter times now, according to the few other Negas that he knew, which meant he knew very little about all the dangers that could come from being alone and vulnerable.
He'd never had any problems he couldn't handle before, right?
Domey was barely out of highschool and thin, like a piece of taffy stretched too far. Some time between starting high school and finishing it, he'd gone from the shortest male in his class to one of the tallest. It showed in the way he carried no body fat, just a lanky stretch of boy wavering between clumsy and finding his balance. He wasn't quite used to his own height yet. But it made him careless, suddenly looking down at everyone when he used to stare up. Too much confidence, perhaps.
He slipped his ipod out of his pocket and watched the screen as he walked, passing right under Lab's perch. But he paid no attention the energy signal or his surroundings, simply turned on a new song and let his head start bobbing casually to the music blaring through his over-large headphones.

Labyrinthite had taken to sitting, long legs dangling over the edge of the roof, peering down on the passersby. He never seemed to be gathering energy because he viewed it as a chore, clearly he had better things to be doing. Like hunting senshi. In fact, that was the purpose of the night as he was seeking a particular one but had no luck as of yet.
Instead, a fellow negaverse passed beneath him. He leaned forward, arms extending behind him to grip the raised edge of the building, squinting as he tried to make out the teen beneath him. Not recognizing the form and only the bleep of a level one energy he make a quick decision.
He dropped from his perch, landing with a soft thud behind Domey. Rising from the crouch he stepped forward, right hand reaching out to touch the shoulder.
"You aren't supposed to be alone."

Domeykite startled as soon as he felt the hand on his shoulder, unsettled simply because his music had made it almost impossible to hear anyone approaching. He whirled out of Lab's grip and turned to face him, both fists up, with one clutching his megaphone.
Distantly, he heard a muffled version of Lab's words and slowly, after a few blinks and time to let it sink in, he realized he was staring at an older officer, not a threat.
"Yeah, yeah," he muttered, visibly relaxing and reaching up to drag his headphones down around his neck. "I've never been very good with authority though, so I kind of just do whatever I feel like doing." He rolled his shoulders in a shrug and let his arms fall back to his side. "Whatever gets the job done, right?"
Nevermind that he would have been totally screwed if Lab were a senshi.

He had been prepared for an attack, his left hand raised ready to block, when the other turned around. He only lowered his arms when the tension seemed to slide from Domeykite's posture. He glanced at the megaphone, perplexed at the starter weapon. It appeared better than most, looked more solid than his weapon originally. Soft, malleable plastic verses hard plastic.
If he were still a lieutenant he would have been envious.
"Authority sucks," he cracked because he had, at one point, been of the same mindset as the boy before him. "But getting the s**t beat out of you sucks worse." He was used to that, thought he had turned the tables recently. Or so he felt. "Music's pretty loud, don'tcha think?" He asked coming across softer to Domey than he had the other negas he encountered lately.
"I mean, you had no idea I was there did you?"
Was this a lesson? Hard to tell.
He had mastered the ability to sneak (that's what he told himself), and his steps had been quiet but his landing had not. Even a civilian would have heard him.

"No, but so what?" He shrugged as he said it, but in the back of his mind he realized that he was making an honest mistake. He really hadn't heard this captain approaching and what if it had been a senshi? Especially one of the not-so-friendly ones? He casually reached down and slid the volume on his headphones, but even as he did so he was finding his lopsided smile again. "I figure if the Negaverse didn't want me to rock out on patrol then they wouldn't have given me such awesome headphones, right?" He patted them with his free hand, clearly proud of his luck. Then he faltered again, unsure of what this Captain really wanted. Was he scolding him, giving him advice, or just.. awkwardly standing here wasting his time? He knew he could get in a lot of trouble with the right Captains if he just took it upon himself to be dismissed, so instead he awkwardly rubbed at the butt of his megaphone with his thumb, glancing back behind him as if to study the Captain's approach. "Why are you just hanging out on rooftops like a creepazoid?"

He wanted to scold the new recruit but something stopped him. There were shades of Domeykite that reminded him of himself, back when he was still a newbie. God, that felt like ages ago. (He'd be lying if he said he didn't miss those mostly stress free times.) He can't blame the kid for wanting to have fun and enjoy the perks being a nega agent provided.
"The headphones and megaphone are pretty sweet," he admitted, trying to be a bit more casual about this meeting than his last few. He had been spending so much time alone or working that he was losing touch with how to interact with others. He wanted to be a guiding force, when he could, but he'd been coming off a little strong.
It was only now that he was interacting with Domey that he realized how out of touch with society he had become. "Just, ah," he paused not wanting to sound like an overbearing parent, "some senshi tend prey on the distracted." He had a hard time figuring out a different way to phrase that. God, he really was losing his touch.
He laughed, and it sounded as forced as it really was. "Keeping an eye on things, specifically for a particular...person but really anything," he answered flashing back to the ginger-haired green clad senshi. "I'm a bit. Out of touch with the...social aspects of our...organization. Figured I'd introduce myself," he shrugged. "Labyrinthite."

"Domeykite," he offered with a small jerk of his head, though his expression quickly turned from a lackadaisical smile to a sneer. He even leaned over to spit on the ground, like a bad taste had coated his tongue. "And those space freaks would resort to picking off the weakest links. What a spineless way to fight." Of course, Domey wasn't mentioning all of his own shady battle tactics. "Thanks for the heads up," he said finally, reaching up to rub at the back of his head, where his dark hair sprung free on one side of his headphone band. "I get a little distracted sometimes, probably not a good idea on a one-man team." He sighed and dropped his hands in defeat, flinging them a little. The megaphone shook with every movement. "It's just that these patrols are sometimes so dreadfully boring. Most of those stupid senshi run from fights, or don't even really want to fight at all. They're the worst at this take over thing."

Despite thinking himself to be a proper soldier who did as he was told, Laby often broke the rules. Such was his patrols; they weren't supposed to travel alone. Instead they were to partner with another agent, preferably one from the Dark Mirror Court, but he preferred to roam on his own. '
Besides, despite his efforts, he just couldn't stand the dmc senshi for more than a brief meeting or two. They rubbed him the wrong way. He wouldn't dare say that aloud, however.
"Cowards," he commented. "That's all they are. Confused cowards who think they're overrun population can take what is ours." The Earth was their home and he would not allow any of them to think otherwise.
He considered his commentary thoughtfully. "Don't think you're finding any of the fun ones," he tried to joke. He'd met his fair share of headstrong senshi who didn't hesitate to grapple with him. Of course he'd met the other kind too, but he never let them run too far. "That's why you ought pick one and trap them, don't give them a place to run to."
Or throw them off a building, that worked for him.

The lieutenant nodded along in agreement to the words Labyrinthite spoke. It was a similar mindset that most of the Negaverse shared and, although he was relatively knew as far as recruits were considered, he hadn't seen anything that told him otherwise. Senshi were holding their planet captive, with sweet smiles and damsel in distress facades. "Zinkenite has me doing a lot of tech work on most of my shifts, so I'm not really that versed in the tried and true techniques of disposing of them." The fingers around his megaphone flexed, then he let it fade into subspace, forgotten. He didn't need his poor excuse of a weapon if he was standing here with someone else. There were no other auras nearby. "I just come out to do the bare minimum." Truthfully, being a tech guru sitting alone in an office in negaspace was much more in his comfort zone. Numbers and data energy were things that made sense - cosmic wars had an abundance of unknown variables to consider.

"I could teach you," he offered, wide shark toothed grin splitting his face. "Y'know, just in case." Labyrinthite was a soldier who greatly enjoyed combat. He liked training and he liked sparring, filling up his free time as much as he could with the two activities if he wasn't actively engaging in combat with the other side.
"It'll make doing your quotas easier, quicker, so you can get back to your tech work faster," he offered, brows arching. He wasn't a stranger when it came to the data and computer systems of the negaverse but that wasn't his MO. He did enough in his civilian life, he'd rather focus on other things in his powered state.
"What do you say?"Felyn Like another post or two and he'll teleport away?

The lanky green-haired lieutenant raised his arms above his head and crossed the, stretching out the spine as he stood there, idle, chatting with a superior officer over things that seemed trivial between them. When had he become so numb to the idea of war and battle training? He couldn't remember a time when he'd shied from it. Society would probably blame video games and the way they desensitized youth - they were probably right, in his case. "I suppose it couldn't hurt," he began, dropping his arms back to his sides. "You're right. The more efficiently I could do the s**t I don't care as much about, the faster I can get back to sipping monster and plugging in data points." There was a joke in there, somewhere, because it made him smirk - but he didn't elaborate. "Where's the best place for this teaching?"

"Good," Labyrinthite chirped, knowing full well that he could've easily made Domeykite come along and train whether he wanted to or not. It was nice, having the authority to make recruits do what they were supposed to, even if it meant threatening.
But he preferred when they came willingly.
"Everyone's got their preferences," he commented pulling a pen and piece of paper from his pocket and scribbling an address on it. "Meet me there, I'll be in touch with the communication crystals." He pulled that out of subspace to show him encase he didn't know what they were. "My...preferred place isn't so easy to get to."
He'd have to escort Domey there, but what better place than the Rif where he couldn't leave unless Laby let him.
"It'll be fun," he promised, giving a mocking salute and then, well then the captain was gone.
