Being back in Tale made Niadra happy. Sure she loved the forests of Juahar and all, but Tale was where she had grown up, where most of her time was spent. Today was a performance day, or rather a performance night since they wouldn't be preforming until night time. Her father always said things were more dramatic at night so they had most of their shows at that time.
She should have been practicing with the others, but it was an older routine so she already knew it by heart and had gotten bored. Instead she was out walking around and singing. She was really looking for some berries, or maybe a pet to fall into her lap, but only time would tell what she really could find. She was singing under her breath, just loudly enough that anyone close by would hear her, and more dancing then walking. Such was her way.

"Amma! Amma, come onnnn" Nuawahn hopped from one foot to the other in place, giggling as his capramel trotted sluggishly towards him. "We're almost in the Tale again, Amma! Then we can say hi to Mister Takoda and everybody!" he was looking forward to people, even though he spent a good deal of time wiggling out from under their watch. La'amu snorted. She would take her time, damn it. So long as she could see him, she was fine. "Come ooooonnnn" Nuawahn said lightly. He wasn't upset or annoyed at his Amma- on the contrary. He was in a wonderful mood today and she was so funny! He ran back and hugged her. "I love you Amma!" La'amu took the hug with stoic tolerance, giving him a nuzzle back. She loved him too, and was happy he was leaving the dangerous rainforest, even temporarily. She had a bad feeling he would want to go back there. "Muhmurh" And he wouldn't listen to her, would he. He laughed, then stopped- listening. "Amma? Whats that?" It sounded like singing. He had to investigate! he broke the hug quickly with the attention span of the young and snuck towards the sound, hiding behind a tree. La'amu snorted. And there he went again. She followed him, slowly. She didn't bother to hide her red pelt, and saw no reason to do so.

At finding a berry plant Niadra smiled and bent down to put some in a bag she had brought with her to store them. She never missed a beat with her singing, and although she was crouched down her feet were still moving ever so slightly to the rhythm of the song. At once she heard a noise and stopped singing for a second to turn around. She wasn't aware that she wasn't alone.
At spotting La'amu she smiled. Nothing all that dangerous, well as long as didn't threaten it. "Hello, do you want some berries?" she asked the animal, palm flat as she offered a handful to her. The best way to befriend anyone, animal or human, was with food. Or so thought from all her experience with others so far. Maybe this was her day, although she didn't expect this kind of pet Nyiim did say that the pet chose you.

No, she wouldn't want those berries, but she appreciated the offer. She went over and sniffed at them. Yup. They were berries. She stayed just out of hand's reach, but she wasn't afraid of this twoleg. Nuawahn was happy La'amu wasn't angry at this lady. She was interesting... ooo, were those berries? He hoped they were nice and tart, because when they were too sweet he wasn't happy. He bit his lip to keep from giggling. He had a plan. Amma was distracting her, so he could play a trick on her! It would be fun! He crept up, eyes glittering with glee, very low to the ground for extra sneaking. And when he was right behind the pretty leaf lady...
"BOO!" he said, popping up. .... Really? Really? La'amu gave her notcalf a very annoyed look

Niadra shrugged. So this wasn't her pet, after all it wouldn't have gone like this if the familiar was made for her. "Well if you want some you know where to find them." she said to La'amu with a smile before she turned back to what she was doing.
Niadra almost jumped out of her skin when Nuawahn yelled boo! She turned quickly and was about to yell at the person before realizing that it was a little boy! She smiled, still a little startled. "You made me jump out of my skin! You must scare people a lot to be so good at it!" she said with a laugh.
Looking back at La'amu she laughed. "I'm assuming this one belongs to you?" she said, not clear if she was talking to La'amu or Nuawahn.

"I don't scare that many people!" said Nuawahn, pleased as punch at the reaction. "But I got you!" He giggled, and leaned over to investigate. "You have a pretty voice. I heard you!" he said, by way of a proper greeting. "Are you picking berries?" Of course she was. It was obvious. "Do you have to sing to pick them? Are they..." it took him a while to articulate what he was going to say, "Are they magic berries? That open up when you sing to them?" He investigated the berries. They looked like... normal berries. Like what Mr. Takoda had given to him. But wouldn't it be great if they were magic berries? He gave La'amu a hug. "She's my Amma. She's my best friend." he snuggled into La'amu's fur, smiling up at Niadra. "Do you have a best friend?" he asked.

She smiled. "Well if you wanted to scare more people you could, your really good at it! And yes you scared me a lot." Niadra laughed. He was just adorable, especially that hair of his. It was all too much.
Once the boy started talking, it seemed like he would never stop. It was all very amusing. "Thank you, I love to sing. And I was looking for magic berries, ones that tasted better when you sang to them. Wanna try them? That's the only way to know if they are magical or just plain berries." she said happily as she held her hand out to him. She had forgot what it was like to be around a youngling. All the ones that were traveling with her family were much older then this one.
When he asked if she had a best friend she smiled and nodded. "Why yes I do have a best friend. His name is Nyiim. And Amma is a wonderful name for her." she said with a nod. She looked around a little before putting her attention back on the little boy. Where were his parents?

Nuawahn frowned. "I don't want to scare people. Not if they won't laugh like you did!" he said, before his smile struggled out again like the sun on a cloudy day. Wait! Wait wait! Were they actually magic berries?! "Mmhmm! I wanna try them!" he said, excited. He loved magic, and magic berries magic berries MAGIC BERRIES! it was such a good idea and he wanted to see them! He took the berries... only half, though, because she needed to have half... and put them in his mouth. ... ...
Well, they were berries. "The magic ones are supposed to taste special, right?" he asked, dissappointed, but only briefly.
"Ooo, ooo, can you tell me about him?" said Nuawahn, distracted by the talk of friends. "Oh! Her name is La'amu, but I call her Amma because she's like my mama." he said, nodding, "But tell me about your friend...?"

When he frowned part of her heart broke. She didn't want to be the one to cause that! His smiled was too cute to be hidden. But suddenly it was back. It seemed that he wasn't one to stay sad for long. It was nice.
When he ate the berries and asked if they were spose to taste special she nodded. "Well I guess those weren't magical." she said with a shrug.
When the boy asked her about Nyiim she smiled. "Well he is from the leaf tribe, like me, and very nice and strong. He doesn't travel though, so I only get to see him sometimes." she said as she listened to him call La'amu Amma and then say she was like his mama? Where was his mama.
"Doesn't your mama get jealous of Amma?" she asked with a smile. Such a cute boy had to have an adorable mama.

"Oh." He wished they had been magical, but that just meant he had yet to find the magical berries, so they were still out there!
"Leaf Tribe? Oh! Thats why you have pretty green eyes!" he had known that, but she did have pretty eyes, "Mama says I have special eyes, too. But they're blue..." He thought for a moment "My mama travels a lot too! We walk around Sauti all year long. Theres lots and lots of rocks!" he said, holding his arms out to try to show scale. "Lots and lots... But why doesn't he travel like you?"
He looked at La'amu for a moment and shrugged. "Why would mama be jealous of Amma? Shes a capramel." he said, as if it made all the sense in the world. And to him, it did! Mama was Wind tribe and Amma was a capramel. Those were two different things!

She nodded. "Yes, you do have special eyes, and they are very handsome also!" she noted. It made it a little hard to pinpoint where he was from, it was rare to see wind tribe members with such eyes. Or rather, she had never seen them before. When he said that his mother traveled she wondered if they had ever ran into each other. Maybe when Nuawahn was much smaller, that would explain why she didn't remember him.
"Well he doesn't like to travel. He likes to stay in our settlement." she shrugged. She didn't really understand why he didn't like to travel, personally Niadra thought that everyone should travel all the time. But that was just her.
She laughed. He was right, La'amu was a capramel. "Well she could be jealous if you spend more time with Amma then with her." she suggested.

Nuawahn giggled with delight, blushing a little. "They're handsome!" he said proudly, giving her a hug, "Thank you miss lovely singing leaf tribe lady" he realized he didn't know her name. Oh well! Wait! She didn't know his name either! "You're very pretty too!" Handsome didn't work for girls. Names were the last thing on his mind, though. He was distracted with the alien concept of Nyiim, the man who stayed home. "Why? That sounds boring." he commented. Staying in one place didn't feel right to him. He had never liked it. Exploring a place for a time, then returning later, that was what the boy liked to do. He didn't think he could live with the same place, the same people, the same everything. "Is he boring?" he asked. Though he didn't think that this lady would be friends with a boring person, people could make lots of friends of many types. "Mama would be jealous of a Capramel?" he frowned, "But Mama is in Sauti, so I can't spend time with her... So she can't be jealous, right?" he pouted, "Its not my fault?"

Niadra hugged him back happily. How cute was he! She wished that he could hug him forever. "Well thank you." she said squeezing his hand when he told her that she was pretty.
When he said that Nyiim's life was boring she had to keep from laughing, for she thought the very same thing, but when he asked if Nyiim was boring she shook her head. "No, and I agree with you. Staying in one place all the time can get pretty boring. But he likes it, and no he's very nice and always helping everyone in his village. Not boring." she said with a nod.
His mother was in Sauti! Why! "If your mother is in Sauti who are you with? And no it's not your fault." she said trying to soothe the boy.

Nuawahn thought for a moment. "Well, I guess if he likes it, then thats good..." and helping people around the village was very nice of mister Nyiim, but Nuawahn still felt sorry for him. Even if he wasn't boring, his life still sounded boring! But maybe he just didn't know better! So that was okay, because someday mister Nyiim would see how fun exploring could be and he would be even happier, maybe! The thought made Nuawahn feel better.
He looked at Niadra. That was a funny question... Wasn't it obvious? "I'm with Amma." he said, puzzled. Well, maybe she was just testing him, like teachers did. Was she a teacher? Then she was a lot of things- a singer, a magic berry-picker, and a teacher.
"And it isn't! Is it?" he didn't know, he couldn't remember... ”I don't think it is...”

She nodded. "I keep telling him to come with me, but so far he stays. He says one day he will come with me. Then he will see that it is better to explore then to stay in one place forever." well she hoped that Nyiim would see that. It would suck for him to go out and then hate it. Then she would go home and never again travel with her. But no, Niadra was sure that once he left his home village he would like to explore and stay traveling with her. He could be like her guardian, though like always she wished for more then just a friendship or a guardianship.
Okay... So this boy didn't think it was okay to be with just an animal? She didn't know what to say. She didn't want him to cry, but at the same time she didn't want him out in the world alone. "How long has it been just you and Amma?" she asked curiously.
She shook her head. "No sweetie, I'm sure it's not your fault." Right?
