Biroki was out gathering. He had done this many times before, from younglinghood on, for his uncle but this time it was different. He was angry, still, with Reshel: an unaccustomed emotion. Biroki was rarely angry. He just didn't get angry. But Yesterday, Today, and the day before, he couldn't shake his aggravation at his uncle for the little ordeal that he had put him and Zuri (especially Zuri) through. He couldn't shake how upset he was over the whole thing. The worst part, he realized as he plucked a root out of the ground, was that what Reshel had done had been harmless, even helpful. But Biroki still couldn't stop feeling a seething anger, that hid just beneath his better nature. He wasn't sure he could cool down as long as Reshel was around, and he didn't like it. It wasn't as though his uncle was prying into his life or asking odd questions or even winking. He was just there, doing as he had always done: his job. He was just grumpy. That was all. Grumpy. Biroki took a moment to rest against an old tree stump, already being reclaimed by the vines of Jahuar. Just a bit grumpy.

Yaholo wasn't sure why he was dwelling on this particular part of Jauhar today, but it was a particularly nice day, so a little meandering wasn't so bad. He wandered through the trees and over some rocks, before he noticed a Shifter picking roots out of the ground. He had always been told to be wary of Shifters, even if his intuition said that they were okay, and decided to approach the area with caution. The Shifter did look angry, if not just plain old grumpy, which made him a little anxious.
He leaned down to the ground and plucked out a good looking root, before offering it to the Shifter. "Root for your thoughts...?" He said, with a soft smile.

Biroki had been brooding and would have continued to brood if he hadn't been startled out of it by the oddest looking creature-person he had ever seen in his life. It was like someone smushed a bit of everything together and kept the most awkward bits. "Gah!" he jumped back, raising his staff almost halfheartedly. His adrenaline flashed through his body, and he shook like a goddamn leaf. "I-I who.. Who g-goes there!" he sputtered out before noticing anything else. Like the root the strange person was holding. Well, it... he... was trying to share food. That wasn't a hostile act. "Uh..." Biroki lowered his staff and tried to soothe his nerves. He had tea ingredients and his kettle and he knew where to find water... that would help some, he thought. "I... uh... Er... S-sorry you came out of nowhere... Sorry" he apologized. Anger was forgotten under embarassment, "I shouldn't have... you're lucky I... I... Sorry" he swallowed on his suddenly dry throat and approached. "Is that..." he pointed at the root, "What did you say again?" he had forgotten the question in his panic.

Yaholo copied Biroki's actions to near exact form, sans the use of an actual weapon. He held the root out long ways, as if that was going to help him protect himself, and leered backwards, ready to be attacked at any moment.
"Sorry didn't mean to scare you, thought you were upset, wanted to help and and and..." He stuttered, flailed and whined. "Don't hurt me! I have a family and a life and I haven't done anything of value yet and and and NEEEEE!"
Then, he froze, his cheeks flushing red as Biroki lowered his spear and apologized. Well, s**t, he looked retarded. He lowered his root "weapon" and assumed a more relaxed position, if you could call semi-stiff legs "relaxed."
"I was asking you if you were okay, basically." He said, rubbing the back of his head. "You looked upset and I just thought it would be okay if I asked you why..." He sighed. "I can leave if you'd like..."

Yaholo was perhaps fortunate that Biroki used a staff and magic and not a spear. Biroki flushed, himself embarassed. "S-sorry... I... I've been jumpy. Lately." he smiled sheepishly. Even though this person was odd, they seemed nice enough, "I... I'm okay, just some family trouble. Th-thats all."
Biroki frowned. Nooooo no no no. "No, you don't have to go!" he said quickly, "You're really interesting looking and... Uh... and if you want to talk..." He was intrigued by this oddly colored creature and reassured by their similarities... even if he wasn't fully aware of that.
"Uh... D-don't go... I... uh... I have tea? D-do you like tea?" he reached into his bag cautiously, hoping to bring out a cup for the strange man and a kettle.
"A-and you don't need to be sorry... I mean I would have done the same thing. Probably..." Well, maybe not quite so abruptly or so close...

"No, no, no, it's me who should be apologizing!" Yaholo squeaked. "I invaded your space and scared you when I shouldn't have, I'm sorry!" It was true, Yaholo really needed to learn how to mind his boundaries in relation to those of others. Not everyone was as forward and friendly as he was, some people liked their space. He rubbed the back of his head and chuckled as Biroki offered him tea. Well, he did enjoy tea, he'd just never had tea from Jauhar before. Maybe it was a good time to try that out.
"If you wouldn't mind me staying for a cup, I'd be delighted!" He nodded. "And maybe we could chat while we drink? I'd like to hear what might be bothering you..."

"N'no! I should be apologizing because... Because I use magic and I could have hurt you and th-then I would have been sorry!" he babbled out. And then he laughed, a little nervously. "I... would I have asked if I hadn't wanted to share tea? I-I mean, I'm really good at brewing tea." he started to set up a fire, feeling both relaxed and nervous. Something about this man made him both feverishly hyper and at ease. Something familiar. He brought out the kettle and the cups before remembering that he was being an idiot. "aha... ahahaha..." The kettle was empty. "I'll just... Lets get some water first." Because leaving fires unattended was a bad idea, so he couldn't very well light the fire and then leave it. He stood up, kettle in hand. "There's water that way... Sorry, I should have filled it before setting up..."

"That's alright, no problem!" Yaholo squeaked, standing up as Biroki did. Oof, they both were so scatterbrained, weren't they? He chuckled to himself. Maybe he'd found someone akin to himself, at least on a personality like level? He hoped he hadn't made a bad impression, he wouldn't want to lose someone that he shared some things in common with!
"Soo... Which way is the water?" He asked. "I could go get it for you, if you'd like."

"Ah, oh no! I mean, you can come with me if you want to... Its not far!" said Biroki hastily, hustling the kettle off to the fire. Tea tea tea, he needed his tea. It would calm him down and maybe he could make sense of things. "I... uh..." He started to fill the kettle I hope no radaku comes to attack me... that'd be just my luck! "So... What are you, exactly" he said, and then grimaced. "Oh gosh ohgoshogosh I'm sorry!" he said, flustering and looking down at the kettle as if it could save him somehow, "That... that was rude of me... I'm sorry... I-I mean... I'm sorry!" He bit his lip. Stars, he was apologizing so much. Did he need to apologize so much? He didn't, he knew he didn't. "I mean, I only ask because..." oh, look. He was digging himself into a deeper hole. "You l-look like nothing I've ever seen..." The kettle was full and ready to go, at least.

Yaholo arched an eyebrow as Biroki spoke and started to burst out in laughter. This guy was hilarious! His stuttering, his nervousness, it was all so funny! Though, he knew he was being rude by laughing, and attempted again and again to calm himself.
"S-sorry for laughing!" He exclaimed, shaking his head. "But I've been asked far worse than what you've just asked! There's no need to be so nervous!" He paused, wiping a tear from his eye as he calmed down further. "I'm half Alkidike and half Leaf Tribesman. That's why I look so strange."

Thank the stars it was daytime, or Biroki's blush would have been visible for miles. It deepened at the halfbreed's laughter. Biroki was no stranger to being laughed at, and though he was sure he had been the one doing the offending, he still felt a little upset and confused. "Oh, uh. It's okay! I-I mean..." Biroki felt a little relieved at that, but not much. Worse things? Biroki didn't even want to think about 'worse' things. "I just thought... nothing." He looked over his new aquaitence. He was definitely strange, but- there. The brown skin and green eyes. So that was the leaf tribesman in him, then. So he was just a really unlucky half...er? "S-so..." Biroki was further humiliated by his inability to carry the very full kettle in a dignified way. Normally he didn't fill it this far, but normally he also was alone to make his tea, with nobody around to accidentally offend. "I.. uh... My fiance. She's half Ice..." he wanted to make his comment right. Even if it wasn't the worst thing that Yaholo had heard, Biroki was a bit sensitive to the subject and it still made him feel shitty. He snuck a glance back at Yaholo- his appearance was just so strange. And- Biroki noticed- he was assymetrical! He only had one antennae! "Uhhh... How did you... I mean... What happened to your antennae?"

Yaholo chuckled nervously as he was looked over. People had a way of doing this when they first met him, it was completely normal and easy for Yaholo to deal with now that he was older. As a child he would have whined and cried for his father by now, not that his father would have actually allowed him to hide or anything. He was proud to be the father to an Alkidike, for some reason...
"Hm? Oh, my antenna?" He said, missing the comment Biroki made about his wife by a mile. He reached up to touch it, blinking some. "I'm not sure what you mean... They're both here."
(Draaac, this rp happens when Yaholo's in his Prentice stage, he has two antennas right now! |3)

"Huh? Oh... I... I musta seen it from an odd angle or... Uh.. They're very... n-nice... Antenna?" He really wanted to go in a corner and not come out. "TEA." he blurted out, "LETS GO MAKE SOME TEA." Tea would make everything right. Biroki led the way back to the tree stump and set up the fire, letting the kettle begin to boil before he started adding the tea components. Some root to give it a special spicy almost-creamyness, something to give it a floral taste, his special relaxing herbs, and something to make it sweet because he needed the comfort of a sweet tooth right about now. And maybe the other man would like something sweet too. He let it steep for a while. "Uhhh... Do you... I have a c-cup if you don't...?" he offered, still feeling like an a**.

Yaholo held back another chuckle as Biroki continued to stutter and stammer on their way back to the tree stump. This guy was an absolute gem, wasn't he? In yet, he felt similar to himself, being all nervous and jittery. Maybe meeting him like this wasn't such a bad thing after all. Friends come in all shapes and sizes, and how you meet them can be just as varied, if you kept an open mind.
"Hm? Oh, no... I..." He scratched his chin, did he have a cup? He dug around in his satchel for a moment and laughed, well, he had something that could potentially hold liquid in it without breaking? He held a rather large nut shell out to Biroki. "Would this be a suitable cup? I don't want you to worry about fetching me anything more than you already have."

Biroki looked at the nut shell with great misgiving. "Tea is... W-well, its hot." he said, shaking his head before digging through his bag to find his cup and... yes, there was his spare. He kept forgetting he had it, but at least he rarely left it behind. He wiped the cups off and handed his spare to Yaholo. "Use this one." he said smiling almost shyly.
The tea started to give off a warm herbal aroma. Biroki was pleased- if it tasted as good as it smelled, then he would be able to make up for the insensitivity of his comment before.
"I put some herbs in for energy." he checked the tea and began to pour it before it got too steeped "I hope you like it?"
