Today was turning out to be a rather great day.
Sitting behind a rock, Ajabu surveyed the loot she was managed to nab off of unsuspecting animals. Why, there was a smooth rock the color of white sand that she found when one lion was swimming in a lake. A lake! The maned wolf was quite sure that the rock hadn't come from the lake. Why, it looked like a river rock! Beside the rock was a black feather that had fallen off a passing bird. Oh, she was bad. A bit of twine decorated with amber beads that some careless lioness had taken off briefly. And a gold bracelet, decorated with emeralds, it looked. She grinned widely. Oh yes, today had definitely lured in some great loot!
It was little wonder why the maned wolf thought all the loot to be great, if they knew her. Ajabu had absolutely no sense nor knowledge in the worth of things. And so, the smooth rock that she believed to be from a river held just as much value, if not more, than the gold bracelet. Cackling with devious laughter, the young pup placed down a cloth and began moving her trinkets on top of it, determined to stash her treasures away in her hiding place.

Farrin was pretty sure he had just heard someone laughing. Actually, not just laughing, but cackling, like someone was enjoying themselves doing very scary and malicious things. But it seemed like it wasn’t someone very old, if he took the sound of the voice into consideration. It sounded like a child, or perhaps even a young adult who had not hit puberty as well as they would have liked. Either way, he was curious enough to investigate, even if it was potentially dangerous. Smiling to himself, his slide his way over to the source of the noise, poking over a large flat rock and down at a pup below him. She seemed to be gathering some junk together, though for what purpose he had no idea. “Performing some kind of ritual there, kid?” The black and orange wild dog asked with a slight chuckle, resting his head against his paws as he got himself comfortable against the warm stone. It had been sunning for a while, and was just the right temperature to really relax the muscles. The kid had helped him find something nice, so he would have to thank her for that.

Ajabu was quite sure she jumped the height of an elephant.
Heartbeat pounding against her chest, she looked up swiftly, neck aching just slightly at the sudden, quick movement. It was another maned wolf, but an adult one. Staring at him with a rather peevish look, she grabbed hold of the ends of the cloth to make it a sack and moved it behind her.
And then, she crouched and growled. "It's none of your business." she snapped, bangs and the ends of her bandanna falling into her eyes. Furious that her defying and threatening image was dwindling because of these things, she tossed her heads, several times, until finally both were out of her eyes. She glared at him, as though issuing a warning.
"This is my rock. My area. You're not wanted." Ajabu pointed out shrewdly, jumping up deliberately on the rock to show just how much it was hers. "So, hurry up and leave." the pup made a gesture with her paw, motioning the action of leaving. "Besides, those are treasures, not trinkets and doodads for a ritual. Are you blind?"

"If they're treasures, why are you defending your rock and not them?" He asked lightly, getting to his feet. Since he was so much bigger than the small pup, it was pretty easy to move around her and over to her belongings. He looked them over casually, as though she hadn't just been yelling at him to get lost. In fact, it was more like he was deaf than blind- he didn't all that interested in listening to a word she had to say to him. "So did you get these things yourselves? Or did were they given to you?' He didn't take her attitude as one the other adults would reward, so he suspected she had taken them. Just because she had found them, or because she had stolen them, he didn't really know. He smiled at her, amused though trying not to look like he wanted to torment her. It wasn't his plan- he was just trying to figure things out. Anyway, he thought she was amusing. It was cute how she was trying to act like a big dog. "What if I want one?" He asked, his tone light.

Ajabu turned, keeping her glare centered at him. When he moved to her stuff, she moved forward to intercept, but held back after a step. He was bigger than her. Stronger. And a stranger. The pup just couldn't do something as stupid as tackling him or standing so close. So, instead, she just glared, head lowered as she growled.
"The rock and the treasures are mine. However, if you need bribery to leave me be, you can have this rock," she spat, taking another step forward. When he asked the question on just how she obtained it, she clamped her mouth close. As if she was going to answer him!
She was determined to keep as calm as possible, while still looking as menacing as she could muster. However...
He had dared to ask for one of her belongings. Letting out a puny bark, she jumped forward, standing over her treasures and staring up at him defiantly, angrily. "Go find your own," she growled, bandanna once more flopping into her eye. She glowered at him, not bothering to take the time and fix it; he may steal her precious rock while she fixed the distraction!
Cajanic I would like Ajabu to meet Farrin when she's older. ; u; Just for the, "-GASP- YOU! D<" moment.

Farrin was amused by how riled up the pup was getting. It was clear she felt very strongly about her hiding spot and her treasures. But it seemed she liked her trinkets just a little bit more, which made him laugh. "Well, I hadn't thought you would be so quick to make a descision!" he barked merrily, "thank you for surrendering the rock to me." He wondered how much teasing he could get away with- he didn't want to make her explode with rage. He was just having too much fun. Chuckling still, he used a paw to pay the smaller pup on the head, raising the bandana she wore away from her eyes. "Alright, I'll tell you what- I'll leave your treasures and your rock alone if you show me how to collect stuff like this, alright? I think that's a pretty fair trade."

Her eyes narrowed at his response, she bristled a bit, watching him with a glower. "Are you mocking me?" Ajabu asked tensely, quite sure that what the male was doing was indeed mocking. Of course, she hadn't the faintest clue on whether she recognized the teasing correctly or not. In fact, she used the word mocking simply because she's heard it used in a similar situation.
Lifting her chin high, she gave him her best glare. "I didn't surrender my rock to you; I could keep it, if I want. No, I just gave it to you because I don't want it anymore," the brat told him in a sneer.
When he placed his paw on her head, she blinked, tensing to bolt. However, he simply adjusted her bandanna. Ajabu immediately became suspicious, watching him closely. At his negotiation, she narrowed her eyes even more. "If I teach you my tricks, you'll use them against me. I know it," she informed him with an unsure expression. Eyeballing her baubles and treasure, she chewed over her decision before finally, giving him a firm nod. "Alright. However," the pup started loudly, stepping forward to stare stubbornly up at him. "You won't lay a paw on my things!" Backing away a few steps, she considered him again.
"How good are you at stealing?"
Cajanic I... actually have a sorta plot for later, if you're interested in flinging/mating them? >> She's grown up now. uwu

He laughed. "Well, you're a very smart one," he said lightly, this time meaning the comment rather than saying something just to mock her, "it's good to be cautious- you're right to be worried that I might turn around and betray you further down the line. I wouldn't, but it's good not to leap into trusting others you only just met." He doubted he would need to steal her trinkets from her, but saying so would only make her think that he really DID want them, and was just trying to cover his tracks. He supposed he could leave it alone for the moment. Teasing was fun, but if he went too far he would lose his toy and then he wouldn't get to spend more time with her. She was too interesting to allow that. When she came forward, he smiled and gave a nod, letting his expression fall into something serious before he replied to her. "You have my word! I will not touch your stuff," he assured her, before letting his eyes lighten again. "Well, I had your rock for a little while there," he pointed out when she asked him how good he was at stealing, "so I'd say I'm pretty good at it, right? But I'd love to see the master at work sometime." Lollipop x L u x u r y I would really be interested in that, if you are still. XD Sorry for the delay- hiatus had me working!

The little wolf wrinkled her nose at the compliment; she was terrible at taking them, unless it was bragging about her thievery. Being called smart, she decided, was one of those she couldn’t help feel awkward with. Ajabu scoffed at his words, raising her nose a good bit to cast as much of a snobby expression as she could. ”There isn’t one being I trust,” she boasted, having the gall to grin in pride. She considered him for a moment, eyes narrowed and bandana slipping, before letting out a snort. ”Though, I highly doubt I have to worry about you using them against me; I could easily counter anything you bring at me!” It wasn’t quite a lie; Ajabu truly believed she could. She didn’t even bother to account size and experience. The wolf simply thought herself as invincible.
When he gave his word, she frowned. ”Weren’t you the one who claimed you shouldn’t gallop into trust others you only just met?” she asked perpetually, partially quoting him in what she thought was an exact quote. Ajabu didn’t push the matter, however; she was getting rather antsy, lingering too long in the male’s presence. If I’m not careful, he could find out all my tricks! Maybe I can ditch him…
Ajabu had gotten so wrapped up in her clever plan that she almost missed the older canine’s response. She blinked before scowling. ”That wasn’t stealing! I gave the rock to you. You’re still a rookie,” she informed him haughtily, flicking her head backwards to move the slowly-descending bandana back upon her forehead. Eyeballing him, she stepped over to the her ragged, makeshift cloth, quickly moving each of her precious treasures onto it. All the while, she kept glancing at him.
As if I would truly show him my skills- she stopped in mid thought, however, when an idea occurred to her. She grinned, grabbing the edges of the cloth and hastily folding them over before straightening. ”Alright. I’ll show you now, then. Stay right there. I’ll give you an example,” She informed him with a cat-and-canary grin. Lifting a paw, she pushed back her bandana a bit, only to feel it slip slightly again; the canine chose to ignore it. ”I’ll take this with me… Uh… you’ve got to be able to move stealth-like with trinkets!” Ajabu lied, deftly picking up the makeshift knapsack. Backing up, she glanced behind her; she could go behind the cropping of rocks before racing off. She turned back to give the older dog a stern look.
”Now,” she began difficulty around a mouthful of dirty cloth. ”Don chu mrrve.” Slowly, she backed up, glancing over her shoulder occasionally to gauge the distances, keeping an eye on him all the while. Wrinkling her nose, she finally got to the edge, ducking behind it; her mouth stretched into a grin. And she was off, laughing almost maniacally. See ya never, creep!

Farrin chuckled as he watched her gather up her belongings, saying that she needed to take them with her for her example. He imagined that meant she was planning on ditching him- he was not so simple minded as to think she would really bring such things with her when she wanted to be as quiet as possible. Any good thief would find a place to keep them safe while they went out to add to their collections. But he wasn't upset or bothered by it. If anything, he thought it was highly amusing that she would attempt to play him in such a way. She really was a spirited little thing, and it was intriguing to think about how she would end up as she reached adulthood. He just hoped she wouldn't get in trouble before that. He wouldn't mind seeing her again when she was an adult. Watching her go, he gave a bit of a chuckle, nodding as she spoke to him through her pack of stolen goods. "Oh, alright," he told her in an overly obedient voice, "I won't move from this spot right here. I wouldn't dream of messing things up for you." He watched her go until she vanished, smiling to himself as he settled down for a bit of a nap. he wasn't waiting there because he had been fooled into thinking she would return, but because he was amused by the little area. It had served him well just then, and perhaps something else would come along to interest him, too. If not, well, at least it was a secure place for a nap.
