There really were a LOT of new recruits lately, Jerry had noted. Maybe not in one huge group like when he had woken, but it felt like the awakenings in the pods were coming more frequently- that was a good thing. They definitely could use the numbers.

He needed to feel productive, needed something to keep him busy, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. He could be busy AND productive! And so, he drew up the fliers, coaxed photocopies, placed them everywhere and sent out the text.

TEXT TO ALL SUNS

We seem to have a million new faces!
Come stop by the practice field for free punch and pie and get to know everyone in our growing division!!
Saturday at 1pm!

He had made a quick run to the Real World, as he liked to think of it, returning from the bakery with a nice stack of warm boxes, an even emptier pocket, but a sense of a day's leave well spent. Hopefully there'd be enough pie for everyone. The boombox was set on the folding table. A mess of training dummies lined up so he didn't feel quite so lonely as he waited for the rest to show up, and he had a party waiting to happen.

It wasn't until after he had sent the text he realized he had invited Rep as well.

As far as he was concerned, the burly ginger was still Sun.

OOC
Non-suns are welcome to come too! there is just a Jerry and a lot of pies in the training field.

Ofelia kind of hoped it was okay for her to come. She'd been pretty lax about Deus as of late, spending all the time she could on her "assigned task" of going into the haunted house. People she thought she'd seen only recently turned out to be people she'd seen over a month ago. Maybe she hadn't really been paying attention to anyone since that whole time-loop-thing with the ponies in the desert but that was also okay.

But a text came to her phone about meeting people (which Ofelia liked to do) and free things (which she liked even more) so the redhead cleaned herself up as best she could and headed out towards the training fields on the assigned date and time. Today she'd decided on one of her least amount of bloodstained shirts because she needed to really get off the Island and buy new clothes or something and that shirt ended up being the one Melvin had given her. Maybe it would be best to return to him someday. But not right now because meeting people and free stuff. Ofelia had priorities.

The Sun hunter found herself at the field and glanced around to see if anyone else was there. She spotted Jerry in the distance (and only Jerry) and slowly raised her hand up to wave. "Oi! Jerry!" And call out too apparently. The last few paces between her and the other hunter were cleared with a jog-walk that saw her to his side within a short moment. "Ah got yer text. Howdy, s'been a while." Maybe? Ofelia couldn't remember.

Tuck wasn't a Sun. Tuck was a Moon.

But he liked pie.

He really liked pie.

Slinking up to the table that held the pie, Tuck tried to seem as unobtrusive as possible as he eyed the pies.

"Seeeeetting up a party, we'll have a good time!
paper plates and pie for a dime!
well, more like a lot more than that,
but it'll be worth it when we all interact~!"

Jerry sang happily to himself as he set up the plastic cups and forks. It was a genius plan. Who WOULDN'T show up for free pie? At the sound of his name being called, he glanced up to see Ofelia making her way toward his setup, and beamed excitedly, "OFIE! Yeah it has been! Busy I assume? Goodness, I was starting to think people wouldn't show up!" He was thankfully too distracted to notice Tuck creeping his way amongst the training dummies towards his Sun Pies.

"Yeah yeah! Ah been workin' in the haunted house an' such, keepin records'a the students an' stuff Ah see." That was an outright lie, Ofelia never kept records. Records involded reading and writing and not enough punching things in their faces. So no records, but a lot of interesting encounters. "Ya need a hand wit' anythin'? Ah'm more than willin' ta aide." The redhead liked Jerry because he liked to sing and was nice and stuff.

Also he wasn't looking at her like he was about to run off. Yet.

Ofelia took the moment to wait for his answer to peek around and see, seeing as Jerry said he didn't think anyone was coming, and she spotted Tuck. An eyebrow was raised but she didn't say anything because she had no idea what group he was in. All she knew was he told her about some tasty oranges.

"An' if Ah'd know ya wanted pies or deserts and such Ah could'a made some for ya. It's the season right now fer fresh fruits too!" Ofelia hadn't baked in a while, she needed to fix that.

Rep got Jerry's text the same as everyone else.

He just stared at it for a long time, glad he was on his own when it came through.

Growing division. It would always be minus one as far as he was concerned. It made him ******** angry how much it hurt every time he was reminded he hadn't been good enough to stay. He just imagined showing up at the meeting only to be reminded by some sassy little s**t of a trainee how he wasn't welcome, wasn't needed any longer in the only place he'd really called home.

Pulling his knees up to hug them, he stared at the bedroom wall, all thoughts of a nap forgotten entirely. He let the phone drop and buried his face against the sheets, taking a deep breath and exhaling.

He thought about it a long time, feeling oddly vulnerable as if the decision was so dangerous it could fracture him like glass.

In the end he decided to show up anyway, like the employee who despite being fired, had structured their life so firmly around their job, there was nothing else left to do. When he got to the training fields, dressed in his usual training attire - a pair of denims and trainers, but this time with the addition of a shirt to hide the loud and proud eclipse tattoo he sported on his back which was no longer as relevant as he wished, he hadn't worn a coat at all - he regretted the choice, people were already milling around the pies and he wasn't sure he could handle it.

In an unusual show of social anxiety, rather than barging straight in, he hung back, and stared at the dummies, at least here, he could say he was here to train, not to pretend he was what he clearly was not.

Evan was starting to think this place wasn't as bad as all that, what with all the get-togethers that featured free alcohol and pie. To be fair, Evan probably would have gone to these parties and meeting either way, but the free stuff certainly made them worth going to. "What, are you a Sun now?" Evan asked Tuck as he passed by the other man, trying not to grin too hard at the sight of someone so big trying to not stand out. There was a colorful bruise beneath his right eye, a result of his trip to the Haunted House, and smiling made it ache more.

Pie would make it all better, though.

"I'm spying on you ********' Suns is all," Tuck grunted, giving Evan a sour look while trying not to look too curious at the sight of the bruise. "Tryin' to figure out how you shitheads work."

He nabbed a piece of pie.

"What happened to your face, pretty boy?"

Yeah, whatever, his curiosity got the best of him.

"Hey man.." Bix gave Rep a smile and a small wave as he passed him on the way to the pie. He had not even taken a second to look for a new logo on the other man so he still had no idea he'd been placed elsewhere.

"Watch out TRAINEEEEEESSS..." Yeah, Bix went there. He slid in next to Evan and Tuck's conversation and snagged some pie. The albino was all done up in his best, super white and clean uniform with his new specialization patch sewn on the back right by the collar. He took a big mouthful before what he'd heard has sunk in, "Whoah whoah.. <********> suns? This is our party dude. Show some respect." Oh.. he said all of this with his mouth full of pie. He may have sprayed a crumb or two.

He also didn't care how big or bitter Tuck seemed to be. He was still a trainee when it came down to it. Before the other man could answer he popped a pie covered smile. "Take the stick outta there and have some fun! I'm Bix by the way." He shared his pie smile with both Evan and Tuck now.

He'd get over to Ofie and Jerry in a second.

"Oh, I didn't want to be an imposition, I knew this great bakery and...well, if you wanna' help, sure! You could help set out the cups for the punch and-" Jerry glanced around the smaller girl, and at the sight of more and more people showing up, the man practically sparkled with enthusiasm.

"There's lots to choose from, guys!! I got peach and strawberry rhubarb and apple and blueberry...!" The list went on. Extensively. All dessert pies. "Oh, shoot, I should have gotten ice cream, shouldn't I have?"

He wobbled, looking momentarily panicked. Pie without ice cream?? He had failed them all.

Tuck didn't say much of anything because he was kind of busy demolishing a pie. Before he realized that Bix was talking to him, Tuck had eaten half of the pie he held.

"Ain't about respect, man. I respect Suns. I just think they're crazy. You met my sister yet? She's a sun."

There was a pause.

"She's somethin' else."
PostPosted: Sat Jun 01, 2013 6:23 pm

Evan huffed a laugh and shook his head. "What's to figure out?" He asked as he cut himself a slice of pie. "You've been beaten up by enough Suns, you should know by now: locate target, kick target's a**. Simple." His grin dimmed as Tuck inquired about his bruise. "Haunted House," was all he said, taking a bite of pie to keep from having to elaborate.

He turned to look as someone else joined them in their quest for pie, chuckling at the new guy's exuberance. "Always nice to meet another Sun, man. I'm Evan, and this pie-stealing sourpuss," he said, jerking his thumb at the bigger man, "is Tuck. He's a Moon, but we don't hold that against him."

Tuck rolled his eyes and kept on eating.

"Whoa whoa s'all cool Jerry yer fine people can eat pie wit'out ice cream. Ah like pie wit'out ice cream." Ofelia did her best to reassure her fellow hunter. "Also yer never gonna bother me fer anythin'! Any time ya need anything, anythin' jus' ask me an' Ah'll help ya no matter what. S'what suns are for, right?" She wanted to pat Jerry on the shoulder but that might not have gone well. Instead she settled for doing what he asked and setting out cups and stuff. It was funny to see how domestic Ofelia could get considering how often she came limping back to Deus covered in lots of blood.

That wasn't hers.

Most of the time.

"Anythin' else Jerry? The cups are out an'..." Ofelia trailed off as she looked at the direction of the dummies and the person standing there. An eyebrow was raised in Rep's way, along with a harsh frown, as the Sun Hunter casually set down a cup. She'd heard a rumor, had she been wrong? Also apparently from the chatter a moon was here too eating pie? Which one other than Bix (cause she knew him as a sun) was the moon? Ofelia was too lazy to look at jackets okay.

Bix got an almost reflexive wave and smile before Rep realised that he ******** never waved or smiled at people and was acting like a complete tit. He was so ******** awkward and anxious it was driving him out of sorts.

This fact wasn't helped by going red either.

He looked up when Jerry said ice cream, looking bright. It was even enough to have him amble over to the table. "Did you say ice cream?"
