A week had gone by since Jessie interviewed and hired Avacyn. A week that felt like a year for Jessie. It had all started to go down hill when she got the call from her mother who pressured her into going to a art gallery which led to her getting attacked by her very first youma. And while she was saved by the youma by a knight and a senshi, Jessie herself transformed into a knight... Something she wished had never happened. It was more by luck then by planing that she met Camelot and learned that there was no going back and for better or worse Jessie was now a Knight, a fighter for good and all things wonderful. So for the last two days she had been doing alot of reading, mostly about her historical counterpart 'Pompeii' in ancient Greece. But she also had space books, comics, and fantasy scattered across the counter in front of her. It was only shear luck that she spotted the calender that said that it was a training day for Avacyn.

So much had happened in one week and so little could she talk about. The pink-haired girl had so much on her mind, but did her best to suppress it before her first day of work at The Bookwrym.
An excited smile lit up her face as she checked herself over in her bedroom's floor-length mirror: frilly sky-blue blouse, matching flats, grey slacks, and a silver hooped earrings and bracelet set. Avacyn rarely dressed up, but this was a good excuse. She felt professional.
Kalypso curled around her leg and purred, as if begging her not to go. Avacyn picked her up, kissed her nose, and set her on the bed before heading out the door to her new job.

Jessie straightened her stack of research books at the front desk, figuring that they would serve as a good training point; learning to reshelve unwanted material. But she found herself still twitchy and needing to move. With a sigh she picked up the cross-stitch that she had been working on for the past several months; a winter scene of a wolf howling at a full moon, snow covered pines spreading below the rock outcropping the wolf sat on, and clouds in the dark sky coming in from the distance with the promise of more snow. “One, two, three, four, five….” She counted off the stitches quietly to herself, her sandaled foot dancing against the chair rung. Ever since a few days ago she had taken to wearing heels, trying to get use to the height and the danger of a twisted ankle. As she secured the dark gray and started the string for the lighter gray Jessie planed the general idea for the training. A more detailed walk around the shop preferably while reshelving the books, a going over of general duties, explaining the stuff behind the counter, and dealing with the register. It was just Jessie today so it would have to be pretty bare bones at least until Jessie could get Jackson in to help with the training. With that figured out she started her first light gray stitch, “One, two, three, four, five, six…”

As she came to the front door of the store, Avacyn paused, fixed her appearance, and took a deep breath before entering.
The chime of the bell was cheery, and evoked a cheery response from her. "Hi, Jessie! How are you this morning?" Avacyn called to her with a full smile. She waved to her new boss and met her at the front desk.
She was excited to start working and making some money. Over the time she'd been in Destiny City, she'd maxed out her credit card and thanks to this job, she was going to be able to pay it off and get out of the red.

With the cheery morning greeting Jessie lost count of her stitches, not that it really mattered. With a smile Jessie jabbed the needle into the fabric before bundling up the whole mess and stashing it behind the counter. “I’m fine Avacyn, and you?” It was a generic answer but it wasn’t like she could answer: ‘oh I’m a bit tired since I spent the last few nights trying to get use to the idea that I’m a superhero drafted into this insane war between good and evil.’ Jessie nearly snickered at the response that such a comment would result in. With the pleasantries aside Jessie floundered for a moment trying to come up with something more to say… and failing miserably. Normally at a loss for words unless discussing books or authors Jessie just couldn’t think of anything more to add to the conversation. “So… um… you ready to get started?” It wasn’t very eloquent nor highly intelligent but it beat just sitting there saying nothing.

Avacyn answered gleefully, "Pretty good. Excited to get to work." Her response was so chipper that it was somewhat difficult to believe that she was talking about a job: a shiny, new job, that is. In a few weeks, when that shine begins to fade, she hoped that her outlook would be as bright.
"Absolutely," the overly-excited girl nodded, pink curls and tendrils slinging about. She honestly couldn't wait to get started.

Xevra no answer is wrong by the way XD Jessie smiled and laughed at her excited reaction. "Its good to see such enthusiasm." She spread the stack of books out onto the counter, "Well do this first part together. Normally at any given point we," She gestured to them both, "will have either been given books that customers decided not to pick up right now, found books shelved in the wrong place and gathered them for re-shelving later, or need to put back the books that we pulled for various reasons." Jessie always thought that one of the perks of working in the bookstore was pulling books out for personal reading but that came with time and understanding that damaging the books made them yours, something that would be explained later. "Anyway so once we have accumulated a decent stack.... or your bored," Jessie smiled and continued on past her joke, "You try to gather the same general books and go to re-shelve them. Now since this is a rather small stack we will just take them all and this way you also get a better feel for where things go as well as the shop in general." She re-stacked the books and passed half to Avacyn before taking the first half her self. "Keep an ear out for the door and lets go." Jessie led the way into the shop before pausing and nodding to the first book in Avacyn's stack; The Fires of Vesuvius: Pompeii Lost and Found. "Where would logic dictate that the first book go?" Jessie's store was not necessarily logically set up but it was always amusing to see where people think books go.

Nodding, Avacyn watched and listened intently as Jessie began explaining re-shelving to her and took her stack of books when they were ready to put them away. She was pleased that this part of the job seemed easy enough and she wasn't zoning out yet. She had a horrible habit of tuning out when being introduced to whatever new information and ended up paying for it later.
'Hmmm... Pompeii sounds familiar. I think I did a book report over that. . . Oh! It was on Doctor Who!' That was a pretty amazing episode, although now her mind was set on aliens of rock and 'living magma'.
"I want to say a history section would be best for that book," Avacyn scanned the store, wishing she'd spent a little longer getting the layout so she'd know what genre was where. "I'm not really sure where that is, though..." Maybe this time around she'd remember.

Xevra yeah Jessie's store is a bit odd XD oh and if you want Avacyn could be helping with Jessie's booth at the job fair ^^ or she could just be there looking for a diffrent job not that jessie would hold it against her XD “Very good,” Jessie smiled and started to head back into the stacks, “Well, to be honest History is a bit hard to notice since most sections have their own short ‘history’ area but for the books that are true history, like Pompeii or any of the wars, are here.” Jessie paused to point out the section in front of them. It sat between the biographies and travel and like the rest of the store, was themed. Since the section covered a wide variety of history there were things like ancient Indian deity statues as book ends, a model of the Wright brothers’ plane hanging from the ceiling, the Coliseum was sitting on top of the case that backed the travel section while Mount Rushmore looked down from the biography’s side of History. There were models of Native American canoes and homes, of Aztec statues and hieroglyphs, of Viking longboats and even a model of the Great Wall of China… again sitting on top of the bookcases, sharing the space with Travel. “If you’re ever unsure where a particular book goes, then just leave it for me or Jackson to take care of them.” Jessie nodded towards Biographies and continued, “Take for instance that section. It’s a short one and has a small reading nook at the end of it, against the window. It’s relatively short because if a biography is covering someone who is well known and is mostly about that, then the book is likely to be found in that section. For instance a book about Neil Armstrong would be under Astronomy, Tiger Woods’ would be in sports, Da Vinci would be art, and so on and so forth. The ones that go in Biographies are the ones like Roosevelt, Washington, and Rosa Parks. They could in theory be added to History but since they had such a larger impact on history they get their own section.” Jessie looked back at the younger girl, worried that this would confuse her since it still confused Jessie some times. “Make’s sense?”

Avacyn took a moment to try to remember what part of the store they were in. Honestly, with all of the decorations, it should be less than easy to know what genre they were in, but she wanted to make sure she could find her way around and not be an incredibly needy employee after her training.
She nodded as she listened to further explanation on the system used to organize the books. So different from any other system she'd seen used, but it seemed to make sense to her.
"I think so," she responded, sounding fairly sure. It would take practice, but she was sure she'd make the connections as to what books go where the more time she spent putting them up.Fiction1119 Sorry about the delay. I wouldn't mind to have her help at the job fair. Maybe she helps for a bit and then checks out the other booths later in the day to see what's out there? (Might be a good thing because I don't know how things will work out if they find out about the other's powered identity. *shrugs* Just an idea.)

Xevra XD one can hope they never find out cuz i dont know what jessie would do ^^'. ill toss you the link to the job fair as soon as i post >.> Jessie quickly shelved the few books that belonged in History, pointing out how they were shelved as she went. "In section the sections where it doesn't make sense to shelve by author, like this one, it is done by topic, then author, then title. Fantasy is next." Jessie's smile was bright with anticipation. She didn't remember how well they went through the store last week so she was excited to see Avacyn's reaction since the fiction section was her favorite. They followed the cases to the back left of the store and stepping between two shelves it was like stepping into a new world. Against the window was a wide area surrounded by hip high bookcases, the kids section, and taller cases a few feet back from them. The area was bright and colorful with a brightly patterned rug in the kids area, clouds painted on the ceiling, dragons looking down from the shelves, and fairies dancing in front of the window on metal wires. Submarines and time machines mixed with action figures and stuffed animals. This... this place,,, this feeling,,,, this whimsy was what this store was all about and Jessie loved it.

Scanning the history shelves, the order of the books was beginning to make sense to Avacyn. She followed Jessie to the next section: fantasy. A favorite of hers for sure.
The way this store was decorated, it truly was unique and appealing. Whereas other bookstores and libraries even rarely ever drew her attention, this one drew, captured, and controlled hers.
Her eyes lit up with childlike wonderment as she admired the section and she began to understand that Bookwyrm was about more than just the purchase of a book. It was about the experience, as well.Fiction1119 Maybe if she does find something that suits her better we plot for something like that happening eventually? I really don't want her to just abandon her new job. And that sounds great. I had her apply as a job seeker since I wasn't exactly sure.

Xevra Jessie wouldn't hold her finding a job more suited to her life goals against her... hell she normaly gets college kids that leave after their school work is done so no worrys there but it would be intresting to see how Jessie would react to knowing a 'bad' guy in real life and likeing her too XD. honestly im not sure how one would appy as a 'booth helper' ^^' unless you were running it for a NPC which I am not XD Jessie quickly shelved the fiction books, explaining about the area as she went and pointing out little hits like how the action figures were all in the comic area and the dragons, wizards, and princess were mainly in the fantasy, and the sub and the mini TARDIS were in the science fiction part. There was a serious method to her madness; it just took a bit to get use to. “There is one big thing when it comes to this section,” Jessie paused wanting to make sure that she had Avacyn’s attention, “When you are shelving books that are in a series, shelve them by the series order not alphabetical. If the series goes out of order or there is no particular order then shelve by alphabet.” Jessie found that this was easier for her patrons who were looking for a series but was unsure what book came first… She had experienced that issue a time or two at the library herself and found she really didn’t like it. With the fiction done that just left the astronomy books, the appropriate section in the middle of the store and on the way back to the front counter. On the way she pointed out the small staff room and the ‘public’ bathroom explaining that the staff room was mainly for breaks like eating lunch and the like since it was little more than a compact stove, sink, and table. It also had the back door which was kept locked at all times. The bathroom was for everyone’s use but since it was only for one person at a time it’s normally suggested for people to run to the gas station down the street when they were busy and when whoever on duty had a chance to keep an eye on the paper towels and toilet paper. It got a proper cleaning every night before closing so unless something goes wrong cleaning it shouldn’t be a big deal.

Avacyn LOVED the fiction area and its decorations, especially a particular blue police box. It was always great to see Doctor Who memorabilia about. She tended to feel an unspoken, and mostly one-sided, bond with the person occupying or working wherever said references to her favorite fandom resided. Huh. Thinking about it now, she felt sort of awkward in how she'd spoken to most of those people...
As Jessie began to speak, the pink haired girl listened closely. The system made a lot of sense and seemed easy enough - for the customers and Avacyn. She followed after her boss, soaking in the layout of the store. It would take her a few days to get her bearings, but she felt prepared.Fiction1119 So sorry for the late response! Also, I can't find the job fair thread for the life of me. x[ Found it! biggrin What all do you want her to do in the job fair?

Xevra i did answer via pm right??? sweatdrop and im figuring that this should be warping up soon if your good with it Once all the books were shelved and the main sections pointed out, with all their whimsical charm, they were back at the front counter. Jessie quickly pointed out the various drawers with supplies from yarn and knitting needles to tape and rubber bands. There were still a few paper cranes hiding in the recesses of the cubbyholes from a few months ago when Jessie made a whole bunch and hid them through out the store. Then she did a quite walk through of the register. "Ok, so that pretty much covers everything quickly. Any questions?" Jessie knew it was a lot to take in so once any questions were answered she figured it would do Avacyn good to wander the store and find her own way around.
