The night's festivities still sang through his ears as if he were still present. The shifting lights, the cacophony of the screams, the looped music... Chased by the metallic, unnatural roars of hundreds of ravenous youma. He remembered the roller coaster, in all its glorious danger, moaning in protest against the cars' unnatural speed. It felt as though he took part in the coaster's masochistic ritual, which encircled the entirety of the carnival. At any given moment, he held a vantage point over the event. However, with the ceaseless jerks and harrowing turns, he had little time to appreciate his view. And the youma... Even as they churned and coursed through every inkling of space present in the carnival, they scattered and swirled about him in his lopsided fight with a senshi.

He never caught her name, but thinking about her gave rise to goosebumps. She exhibited so much... emotion. She displayed such deep sorrow for strangers she'd never met succumbing to the voracious will of the plethora of youma. She railed against him with steeled resolve, as if her actions would somehow rebuke him for his crimes. She fought with untempered passion, and wallowed in defeat when he parted from their deadly, cyclical dance. He even touched her soul... How unusually warm it felt, how smooth and clean.

How he wanted to tear it from her chest and wear it as a trophy.

Despite the pain she inflicted, he didn't regret allowing her to live. It wasn't an act of mercy. It wasn't a show of regret. It wasn't some good deed to balance out the outmoded concept of bad karma. It was simply an experiment - would she return to him, strengthened by her loss? Would she refrain from powering up anymore? Would she kill herself?

Bischofite wanted to know, especially since she (quite possibly) broke his nose.

His numerous other injuries were sustained from various mishaps - a heavily bruised shoulder, bruising down his back , a sore stomach, and more. He escaped with his life, despite the exhilarating event calling into question his mortality. Though it hurt to breathe, hurt to reflect on the event, hurt to consider first aid, he managed his way home. Perhaps he owed that drive to the ebbing adrenaline coursing through his body. It was a last parting gift from the silver and green senshi.

By the time he reached the house, he was Alois again. He sported black pants laden with black lacquered chains and red stitching to provide a minor hint of color; a black swallowtail shirt with only one long sleeve and various edgy white print across the breast, a studded choker, and his usual combat boots. He looked as though he belonged to a metal concert, not a covert military operation. At least, not anymore.

Benitoite should be proud that he fell in step with the rules.

Alois reached the living room and immediately took to the piano; he had the last dregs of excitement to burn off, and the best means for working out that excess energy was to play. So, he picked from his mental repertoire and set fingers to keys, working against them to fill the empty room with a song both vibrant and intimidating in its complexity. His tired hands traipsed across the ivory in practiced ease. His mind shifted from carnival scares to memorized sheet music. His injuries slipped from throbbing to forgotten.

The rush and thrill of the night still had his blood racing through him, even though it was ebbing away as pain slowly took it's place. The thrill of the night still played out in his mind and reminded him of what he'd just done, and not an ounce of guilt filled him. He was lucky to have walked away with the minor injuries he had, considering what he'd faced, and that had only added to the thrill and perhaps kept it going. He'd nearly had two prized starseeds even! The night had gone well, despite the injuries, and he was smiling despite the walk home.

While he might look prim and proper the black and and split and bloodied bottom lip took away from that proper, well groomed, appearance. He knew Alois had been there and only hoped the Lieutenant hadn't taken a heavy beating, they had been placed in different areas at the carnival so he couldn't watch out for the other. Had they been in the same area though he might have been distracted, too distracted, to properly handle himself and those he'd encountered. Not to mention two eternals a senshi, and a knight he wouldn't have wanted Alois to have that to face down.

When he reached the front door he slipped his key into the lock and turned it. Hearing the door unlock he turned the knob and let himself in. As the first notes of music reached him he knew Alois was back - that was good. It let him know the other was alive and well enough to play. So he took his coat off, tossed, rather than hanging it up, in the coat closet and toed off his shoes. He'd get them later and bring them up to his room.

"Alois." Calling out even as he came into the living room and spotted the other. "Injuries?" He asked, hoping the other heard him. He wanted to know how he was and what he needed, there was no way he'd come out of the event without any injuries.

Alois ceased his playing as soon as he registered that another person was present in the house: Alexandre. The notes faded from the room unceremoniously, and he waited until they were well into silence before he answered. "Alex," he acknowledged curtly. He smiled to himself. He didn't understand why; it just seemed appropriate. "Of course." His pronunciation of 'course' sounded more like 'curse' than anything.

Alois turned around from where he sat and regarded Alexandre with eyebrows raised. The blonde looked positively unusual with a shiner and a split lip, despite his normally impeccable appearance. Alois might someday admit that he envied the boy's sense of fashion, but currently the blonde looked downright comical in such an expensive getup, when accompanied by his injuries. However, he seemed like he was in a good mood, in light of the events that transpired that evening.

Alois grinned in quiet understanding. "Nice face," his tone was steeped in sarcasm. "You should use zat look more often."

Maybe he'd contribute those injuries himself one day. Everyone knew the blonde needed to be knocked down a few pegs, especially with his haughty attitude.

"It was a lot of fun, wasn't it? Painite sure knows how to srow a party," especially since that party involved chaos and mayhem. It only indulged his brewing respect for her. "I got two starseeds out of it. What about you?" He was curious to know how his general fared in the heat of things. The boy seemed too stuffy to let his hair down and cause some mischief. However, given his injuries, he must've seen some kind of action. Maybe one of his own finally punched him out for being a p***k. That'd be a nice touch.

Alois stood and shut the cover on the piano. Now that Alex was here, he'd see if he could con the boy into dressing his wounds for him. Alois hated first aid.

He'd rather let those injuries fester.

"You know I wasn't asking for a confirmation of injuries. I was asking what they are." He stated with a roll of his eyes. His back ached as he leaned into the door frame gently, he didn't want to press to much to the door frame and hurt himself. He was sure he had a nice patchwork of bruises on his back, upper back.

"Thanks, you look impressive as well." A nodding of his head as he pushed away from the wall gently. "I think not. I do have an image and reputation. I've never had issue with injuries sustained - provided they weren't to the face." He'd had stitches and broken ribs before. This was different though as it couldn't be hidden, he didn't need people seeing it. He'd have to do his best to get the bruising around his eye to fade as quickly as possible, he wasn't about to resort to make up even if it would work. And he doubted that eye roller he had, for darkness caused by a lack of sleep, would do a thing for this.

"Painite has always thrown good parties. The last one was on Valentines day, though it was quite small. It was entertaining none the less." He didn't bother to shrug his shoulders, they were too sore for that. He'd turned up at the Rift, as was expected, for whatever debriefing Painite had for them. It was words of pride over the success of the night. And while Painite had said there was food, and drink, and they should enjoy themselves he had decided skipping the fun was for the best. What was on the menu for him tonight was a hot shower, or better yet a hot bath, some bruise salve and from there he didn't know.

"Two starseeds, I had to toss them to a passing youma, and energy orbs though I did consume one of those. I made up for it though the orb I grabbed to make up for it was a bit smaller." Did the other know you could eat them? Had he done it himself? The blond seemed unruffled and unphased to be discussing killing or consuming energy, and he was neither of those things. "I almost had four starseeds, two prized ones. But it seems it wasn't meant to be this evening. I'll try again." And a small gesture of his hand. "I know where the eternal senshi used to spend her evenings." He didn't know about the knight, or that red and black clad eternal. But the green and white eternal he would find if she still spent her time at the city park.

"That aside I'd rather concern myself with injuries right now. Best to get them handled." Giving the other a rather pointed look. He wanted to handle both of their injures and go from there with the remainder of the evening.

Alexandre's sharp response left him at a loss for words; he hated misunderstanding someone in conversation, especially in a language still foreign to him. He gritted his teeth almost unconsciously, almost unbearably, and curled his fingers around the bottom of the piano bench until his knuckles turned white. His father's rhetorical questions crept into his mind: why couldn't he do anything right? Why must he always fail somehow? Alexandre made it plain to see that he was highly inconvenienced by his inability to interpret his statement properly. What else did he have to put up with? What else had Alois ******** up?

Suddenly talking felt like an insurmountable task. He needed a smoke before his vocal chords might summon the energy to speak again. While the blonde continued speaking, he fished around in his pocket for the battered box of Marlboro Black 100s. The chains adorning his pants clinked together lazily while he searched.

Alois nodded to Alexandre's account of nearly stealing away four starseeds. While he did so, he slipped a cigarette in the corner of his mouth. Now where were his matches? Matches, matches... He checked his other pants pocket. Used an energy orb, got it. He checked the back of his boot next; sometimes he slipped it in there. Nothing. Alex knows where to stalk the eternal senshi, understood. Another nod of the head. What about his chest pocket? Bingo.

Alex already made it clear that he was interested in the type of injuries he sustained. He didn't need to reiterate it to grind salt into his proverbial wounds. Alois twitched at the reminder of his earlier mistake. Suddenly that urge to smoke strengthened. He may as well light up in the house at this rate.

He crossed the room without warning and skirted the short blonde. "I'f got nossing wors' treating." He replied curtly, making a beeline for the door. If he didn't smoke now, he'd either punch out the blonde or put a few holes in the wall. Maybe worse. As he opened the front door, he wondered if the cigarette smoke would burn his nostrils more than usual, but the thought was dispelled with the burst of algid night air.

Without even closing the door, just standing on the outside of the threshold, Alois struck the match against the sole of his shoe and lit up. The familiar sensation filled his lungs, scalded them with soothing nicotine, and he expelled the smoke through his damaged nose. He was right; it hurt more than usual.

Was it like that first night again? Where the two butted heads? If not it sure felt like it. Had he upset him on purpose? No. Alexandre wasn't trying to be rude, maybe sarcastic but certainly not rude. His concern for the other, and interest in his injuries, was honest and sincere. So as the other pulled cigarettes out of a pocket and searched, for what? He waited to see if Alois would tell him of his injuries, and his night at the carnival.

But it seemed he wasn't going to be treated with either thing, as the dark haired male found his matches and was heading out the front door. He'd said something wrong, something which had set the other against him again. And he'd thought that perhaps things had been going in the positive direction.Sighing he shook his head as he made up his mind quickly. The other wouldn't tell him his injuries, was playing them down likely, and he wanted to treat them.

Since he couldn't very well pin the other down and strip him to check for injuries, for several reasons, the blond went up to his room slowly. Since Lily had moved out the jar containing his birthday gift from Painite had been moved. No longer did it hide in his closet. It sat atop the dresser in his closet - proudly. As he got to his room he went and retrieved the object of such worth and turned and headed back the way he'd come. His own injuries forgotten, or ignored, for the moment.

Opening the front door he stepped out behind the other and moved around him, just brushing his side to Alois due to the narrow steps into the townhouse. As he moved one step below Alois he turned at the same time he moved to stand in front of him. On bare feet he leaned up on tip toes and plucked the cigarette from the others fingers, doing this with his left hand. While he held the others smoking cancer stick he raised his right hand, starseed held delicately between two fingers. Gently he pressed it to the others lips while speaking. "Since you won't tell me your injuries. I can't allow you to remain injured - however minor they may be." Giving a soft sigh the blond kept his eyes locked on the others face. To someone looking on, not knowing or seeing the precious item he held to the others lips, it might look like two lovers rather than what it was. And this thought didn't once cross the blonds mind, too caught up in seeing to the others injuries.

Alois didn't respond when Alexandre brushed past him; if anything, it reminded him of Germany, when stranger stood shoulder to shoulder without any tension between them. Unlike America... People here grew skittish when someone passes within a foot of them. Idly he wondered if the blonde felt the same when skirting him like that. Perhaps even the sight of Alois made his skin crawl. Depending on their arguments, he was almost convinced of it.

Alois never held his cigarettes with much force; even the wind could steal away his coffin nails, should it blow hard enough. Thus, it didn't surprise him when Alexandre usurped the cig, though the fact that he even bothered to do so startled him. Normally the boy either didn't care, or avoided and berated him for such caustic, damaging habits. Yet now he held Alois' cigarette in his hand? What was he planning to do, take a drag? Just the thought of the blonde choking on the smoke coaxed a vague, almost imperceptible smile out of him.

However, as soon as the blonde stole his 'blood pressure medication', he replaced it with an object that he hadn't the chance to study. He spat it into his hand and identified it immediately - a starseed. He had one of his own, resting in his pocket; why did he need one of Alexandre's? "Take it back," he commanded, and took the blonde's free hand. He tucked the starseed into his palm and forced the smaller boy's fingers to curl around it.

Afterward, Alois reclaimed his cigarette and took a drag. "I told you, it's nossing. Stop fretting over it." If he pushed the subject, Alois may as well blow smoke into his face. That usually dissuaded the blonde from further action.

"You're looking at ze worst of it." Alois gestured toward his possibly broken nose. It ached sorely; given the amount of blood still caked to his upper lip, he wouldn't be surprised if the senshi broke it. On top of that, the cigarette smoke stung terribly, yet he continued saturating his nasal passages with it. "Someone once told me 'pain is knowledge incarnate'. Maybe I read it somewhere; it doesn't matter. Ze more you suffer, ze more you understand of ze world around you. Makes sense in a way." Another drag. "Go back inside; worry about your own damned injuries."
PostPosted: Thu Jun 06, 2013 10:09 pm

Was it his fault for disliking the smell of the things the other enjoyed sucking upon? Not really, blame his nose for the dislike of the smell. As for the habit itself it really wasn't healthy and he didn't approve if only because it was unhealthy and he liked to think he was looking out for the others health, in the long run anyway. Holding the thing down at his side he was surprised to find the starseed back in his hand.

Didn't Alois understand? He was trying to see to his health. For a moment he felt something akin to sadness fill him, though it wasn't sadness. Perhaps it was frustration mixed with a bit of melancholy? "Nothing or not, it's my job to make sure your alright and a possible broken nose is not nothing. The starseed can help a bit, and I imagine breathing through your nose right now can't be all that easy or pain free." He spoke softly. As the other told him to go inside he remained where he was, he wasn't going to budge and go inside. The other was his to take care of and he would to that.

"Those words might hold some truth, in fact they likely do. Not, why don't you come back inside with me and we'll handle both our injuries. That way I'm not bothering you any longer and I can handle my own injuries, as you keep telling me to do." He said with something of a hopeful smile in place. He would, and was, trying to compromise with the other to achieve his goal. Alexandre was hoping to avoid the hospital tonight, not for himself but for Alois, he didn't want Alois to start this soon into things with hospital trips. Too many of those racked up and people might start to wonder. Taking a starseed should help and some salves for any bruises the other might have.

Thinking about the events that transpired caused his nose to throb with even more painful force than before. Alois clearly recalled the emotions of that evening - exhilaration, excitement, adrenaline. However, his visual memory remained somewhat lacking. He couldn't place a face to the girl, but he remembered fighting a senshi. He remembered bits and pieces of their fight. He remembered, with utmost clarity, her crying.

And he remembered relishing that sound.

Should he bother to mention it? Perhaps by doing so, Alexandre would drop his motherly act in his loathing for Alois' actions and head back inside. At least then he wouldn't feel the pressure of Alexandre's attempts to crack his prickly shell. The worst of it was the fact that the boy actually had a chance, that he might seep beneath the surface somehow and systemically poison him.

Alois took another drag from his cigarette and expelled the smoke skyward before he elected to respond. "I got two starseeds. Zat's it. You remember what it was like - wis' all the youma crawling around, it was just as hard for us to get around as it was for ze senshi and civilians. On top of zat, ze roller coaster went ******** haywire, and we didn't really haf' a solid plan. I fought a senshi as well - surprisingly she didn't use any magic - and I almost took her starseed. I held it in my hand, even - but..." He trailed off, a ghost of a smile on his lips. "I guess it seemed more fitting to let her lif'. I wonder how it'll change her, if she'll somehow blossom into somesing twisted and beautiful.

"Who knows; maybe she'll be ze one to kill me." His gaze fixated a thousand yards away.

Alexandre's stubborn refusal to see to his own injuries called his attention back to reality. Was he really hellbent on being a thorn in Alois' a** over his injuries? "Fine, do whatever you want. But if you end up breaking my nose, I'm breaking yours too." He regarded the shorter boy sternly. After one last drag, he stamped out his cigarette on the wall of the house and dropped the battered butt into the dirt. Surely he'd take flack for it, but he'd think about cleaning it up later. If Alexandre intended to clean his wounds or succumb to gangrene that night, then he'd have to live with an infinitesimally small piece of litter in his front yard.

Too bad talking about hurting a senshi wouldn't bother him, wouldn't turn him away, if anything he'd likely praise the other. Too bad Alois didn't know what. Alois might not see it in him, yet, but Alexandre enjoyed hurting senshi and attempting to kill them, or actually killing them. He would try, when and where he thought he could, to convert them. But if all else failed, which it normally did, he had no issue in killing them. Even when he'd been emotionally beating himself into the ground and would have avoided a fight he had been ready to accept one should one find him, and kill them if he had to.

Two starseeds? That brought a smile to his face and a hand came up to rest on the others shoulder. He didn't ask if they were civilian or not, considering the two he'd grabbed were civilian he had no place to question, or pass judgment. "I'm proud. I took two also. I wish I had gotten the other two I'd tried for, but I'll eventually get them." The ease he spoke of killing surely didn't fit with the image he'd shown up till recently. But as he spoke of killing the two people in the future there was a certain confidence and certainty behind his words, a conviction. He would try and keep trying. "All the rides went haywire as well. I was stuck in the bumper cars dodging the damn things - utterly ridiculous. I should not have been dodging such things when this whole thing was being run by us." It should have been civilians and the enemy having issues - not him.

"If your senshi becomes some twisted flower I would hope she would join us rather than kill you. It would be nice to have another corrupted senshi on our side - more magic on our side." For as good as weapons were having magic on their side was a good idea.

Rising up on tip toes he leaned in close to the other, poor neighbors if they saw would be thinking all manner of things surely. "You'll have to do better than a broken nose. I'd had worse. And the starseed will help. I'm not about to try and set a broken nose." He whispered before lowering himself to the flats of his feet and passed the other, brushing his shoulder to Alois', on the way inside. He did note the other dropping the butt in the dirt but for the sake of getting alone, as he really wished to do with the other, he let it slide. "I'll be right down, I have a small kit in the bathroom. You should have the starssed I offered first though." Carelessly the object, what gave a person life and was their soul, was tossed over his shoulder. It might be someones life but the person it have belonged to was long since dead it would serve a purpose once again now, and help the other heal up some.

Alois grinned. "If you're planning on going after zem, take me wis' you." For the amount of stories Alexandre spun about his prowess in battle, he'd like to see the blonde put words into action. Would that ever happen? He doubted it, but should that opportunity arise, he wouldn't pass it up. "Maybe I'll steal zose starseeds from you, eh?" Alois couldn't help but imagine the look on Benitoite's face when his kill was easily stolen by his captain. Just the thought of it roused his blood.

Due to Alexandre's incessant urgings, he finally acknowledged the starseed from the blonde. He eyed it intently, admiring its faint glow and and radiating warmth. He didn't know whether that was from the body it was torn from, or Alexandre's hands in holding it for so long. Perhaps a bit of both. Idly he wondered under what context it was pulled, whether in the heat of battle or an unsuspecting encounter turned malevolent. Was the owner a pure soul, or marred with sin and acrid choices? Did Alexandre know the victim, or was the victim a complete stranger? Despite the plethora of questions, the small crystal yielded an equal amount of interest to him.

"I doubt she'd corrupt. But... Maybe I can convince her." He smiled at the thought - his own personal senshi. In return for corrupting her, or providing her the pathway to corruption, she'd have to pay her dues.

After scooping the starseed off the ground, he followed Alexandre inside. "Are zese sings really zat useful? Zey can't honestly fix my wounds any differently than setting zem." Which, apparently, wasn't part of Alexandre's repertoire of first aid skills. While tailing Alexandre, he carefully ran his tongue along the surface of the crystal. Surprisingly, the flavor was a mix of sugary sweet and almost hoppy, with a hint of sharpness, like that of blood. A curious flavor, one he was relatively accustomed to. At Alexandre's behest, he popped the starseed into his mouth and bit into it, relishing its exterior cracking between his teeth.

He could not describe the feeling that followed in any language he had access to. He felt tied to the sky, the earth, every single life force on the planet, as if all energy passed through him before returning to their respective sources. Now the singular conductor, he felt both wholly connected to everything and an overwhelming sense of power, of privilege. His pupils dilated with the surge of energy, and the pain whittled away in the coming flow. With the pervading life essence, he remained unconstrained by his usual social restraints. He could act as he willed.

"Alexandre..." He ventured, almost breathless. This feeling - he couldn't compare it to anything. Perhaps heroin was a paltry venture to replicate the intoxicating high of ingesting a starseed. "********, why didn't you tell me it felt like zis?"

He could live in this state of euphoria for an eternity.

"Then you should come out with me more often. I don't know when I'll cross paths with the two, though I do know where the senshi spends time. The knight I am clueless over, and it seems he'll likely have an eternal with him." One who's attack he detested and found to be nearly as painful as his own corruption. That senshi he didn't fear, why would he fear a senshi? But he was wary of that black, red, and white senshi's attack. he had ever reason to be, considering the pain it inflicted upon him. "Once the starseeds are ripped from them I don't care what happens to them so long as they wind up in the rift in the end." Shrugging his shoulders gently, wincing as he did so. His shoulder blades and upper back nicely bruised.

"Most won't. Even if we talk to them when they see us in action it tends to turn them away from us - a pity. Though I suppose if they are turned away so easily they aren't meant for our side anyway. You could try though, perhaps you'll manage what I've yet to." Though he had spoken to that senshi of acid, twice now, and referred her to Zinkenite, telling her to seek out the General King. He did hope he would see her on their side eventually. He just doubted it would happen, and for good reason.

"They can do some minor healing and give quite the energy boost." It was a rather sudden and heady thing really. It was...hard to describe and likely different for everyone, on how they interpreted the feelings and the energy that came from a starseed and it's ingestion. Turning, just as he was lifting his own shirt, he glanced at the other over his shoulder. "I figured you should find out. Not to mention it's hard to describe. It's a boost in power and so sudden. Maybe it's like with corruption. Something that's just...eye opening and just leaves you breathless. But with a corruption the pain overwhelms you and brings you to feel high. Honestly both things are hard to put in to words. And that starseed." He said pointing to the other as he walked further into the house and headed for the stairs. "Was taken by Painite as a birthday gift for me. We, by which I mean her, Buddingtonite and myself, crashed some peoples Valentine's dinner at a small little restaurant. She took it from someone there for me. Said it was the brightest of the lot; I believe."

It was a birthday present? Alexandre just donated both a gift and a life to him, all for the sake of a bloody nose. And what possessed him to fork over something so sentimental, so heartfelt? What an interesting decision... One Alois considered returning in kind. With a vague smile forming on his lips, he intended to follow Alexandre upstairs, even as he elaborated on the story behind the starseed. In this heightened state, he felt considerably more attentive, more connected, more willing to give, and in turn, receive. It felt as if he reached the pinnacle of himself.

"So your birs'day is Valentine's day? No wonder you're such a prude." He grinned, and caught up to his companion easily. "But... Painite gave you an excellent gift. What could amount to more zan giving a life, eh?" Nothing outweighed the worth of a life, and if someone was willing to give one up without the expectation of anything in return, then that amounted to far more emotionally than words could account for. Whether that was unyielding protection or secret devotion, he couldn't predict.

Should he return it in kind? Maybe.

Alois caught the blonde's arm and pulled him aside. He regarded his corruptor in silence, an ephemeral moment when his gaze could communicate all the turbulence of his soul and the heights of his perceptions. That single, tangible connection only lasted for a fraction of a second before its severance by his tendency to guard every fiber of his feelings. Even then, he found his prickly demeanor failing to manifest. Maybe it was a side effect of the buzz, the surge of euphoria and excitement and insurmountable rapture yielded by the starseed. He couldn't identify its origin. He didn't care.

He just wanted to pursue that feeling for as far as it could take him. Even now, he considered offering Alexandre the opportunity to share its wonder. After all, it was thanks to him that he experienced such an inexplicable high.

"Verräter," he whispered, and pressed Alexandre against the cool surface of the wall. After closing the distance between the two, he pressed his lips against the blonde's and passed the last remnants of the starseed between them. Though tentative, almost shy, he slowly allowed his fervor and euphoria to translate into the kiss, to connect them in a way he hesitated to commit to before. This time was different - if this man was to be his general, he desperately required a connection, some reason to follow him, some feeling of respect, some emotion of devotion.

He felt starved.

Oh, so starved.

Perhaps, this once, Alexandre would concede to feeding him, even if for a moment.
PostPosted: Sat Jun 08, 2013 11:26 pm

Laughing he turned fully, stopped just as he reached the second floor. Smiling at the other. "Yes, my birthday is a day I dislike. I have skipped school numerous times to avoid it. Going to school and making the valentines and having happy birthday wished to me - it seemed to give the girls the idea to hug and kiss me on the cheeks and hand me valentines shyly. Later on they'd ask me out and other such non-sense. But it's not why I'm a prude, as you say. But it why I do dislike my birthday. Painite's gift, and the fun of the night, actually brightened my the day - for once." Normal cake and presents were nice but common, as they happened every year. When could you say you were given someones life? Or that you participated in the chaos he had that evening? While it held nothing to tonight at the carnival it was still chaotic in that little restaurant. He'd enjoyed it, even if he had rather followed the rules.

Grabbed and pulled toward the wall he stilled and watched the other, wondering what to expect from Alois, he could still be rather unpredictable. Perhaps he always would remain so, if only to keep Alexandre on his toes. It seemed like something the dark haired Captain would do, if only to drive him nuts. But somehow he didn't mind, after all he'd also dealt with the crazy but loyal and devoted Bazzite. Two different people, vastly different, and yet both could drive him nuts in their own ways. One with too much energy, easy to upset, and wore a mask of happiness even when he wasn't happy. Not to mention Bazzite's need to do everything around the house.

As comparisons between the two ceased Alexandre kept his slate eyes locked on the others eyes, questioning him silently. What was he doing and thinking? He didn't pull free, he didn't know what was going on but wanted to find out. He didn't want to pull Alois from his thoughts, whatever they might be.

He'd have asked what the other said if he'd had time but time to ask was snatched away as he was pressed to the wall. The coolness against his bare skin, his shirt fell to the ground even as his back protested this arrangement. The bruises sore they throbbed as if to remind him of their presence, as if he could forget so easily, as lips pressed to his. Was Alois...it didn't...make sense. Ne he'd have pushed him away had he the thought to do so, as it seemed thought was the next thing robbed of him. His lips parted under the others, and not of his own will or thought, and pieces of starseed came in to contact with his tongue. The taste, and the remnants of energy, hit him with a mild rush. He should want to pull away, to question the other and find out why, this certainly wasn't expected. But pull away he didn't, rather his right hand lifted and his fingers threaded through the others hair and closed around the locks of hair. Tugging as the blond responded in kind.

This really wasn't normal for him, this was anything but. And yet he was again acting out of the ordinary but this time it was a different lead in, a different everything.

Verräter.

Schöne Verräter.

Even in the midst of their kiss, their fervent, spellbinding kiss, he mulled over the meaning of such an ancient phrase. Many doors bore the word in a time of war, in a time of prejudice and unabashed hate. Those phrases, often hastily spraypainted, offered a sense of pride etched with deceit. They birthed a turbulent age, full of paranoia, full of love, full of a complete disregard for humanity. They punctuated lives without a second thought. How many people died by a single word, a single phrase haphazardly painted onto buildings? How many understood the weight of the word before they employed it? How many appreciated the magnitude of such vocalizations? Everything from the rolled r to the harsh consonants... Verräter.

The harbinger of the shoah.

Perhaps a thousand suns would die in the midst of their kiss, their one connection. Their one chance to know each other in the fullest, most visceral way. The chance to taste his general, to feel every delicate movement from the man, every thoughtless impulse. Alois embraced the ghost of Alexandre's baser self, even if for a moment. He needed just a moment.

With fingers slipped betwixt Alexandre's he pinned one of the general's hands against the wall, above his fine ash blonde hair. Above their sole melded experience. He tightened his grip, drew a breath, traced Alexandre's tongue and etched it into memory. It tasted of pomegranate and blood... Perhaps they were one in the same. Its seeds belie their treachery. Without a doubt. Without hesitance.

Alois ran his fingers along Alexandre's bruised shoulderblades, down his back, tracing every vertebra, every bend and curve of skin, until he reached the blonde's hip. Despite the countless battles before, his skin remained smooth and supple, untouched by the heavy burden of war. Undisturbed by the treachery Alexandre committed, in imparting such a sentimental piece to assist such a minor injury. His single act penetrated Alois' acerbic barriers without forewarning, and he succumbed to its onslaught. Its ruthlessness. Was this a ploy? Did he orchestrate this? In their tentative embrace, was he conducting his own shoah?

Would Alexandre raze him to the ground, in the fires of his own passion?

As he set to work slipping Alexandre out of his pants, Alois considered the repercussions. Yet he was so starved... Surely it was worth the price of suffering the pains his ancestors bestowed on others. Against his baser wishes, he broke the kiss, and sought to tug Alexandre down the hall. "Hurry," he urged, almost breathlessly. They required a proper stage for their final act, in their rehearsal of the darker annals of history.

Traitor.

Beautiful traitor.
