After he'd awoken following his last encounter, Yareha had been restless, unable to stay in one place. Following that urge, he abandoned the brown lioness without even staying to discover her name and walked off in a random direction. The white lion didn't even know where Latitare was at this moment, but assumed the bird would find him when he was ready.

He still didn't understand completely what was happening to him, but even back in the Mwezi he'd rarely spent time with a lioness two days in a row. Not to mention he'd never, ever been as forward as he'd found himself acting! This was all that red lion's fault. With those big bloody black wings. Just thinking of the other male got the white lion angry, and he found himself roaring his annoyance to the world.

A roar.

An angry roar.

Hssiss tensed; every muscle in his body pulled taut and ready for action. Swinging behind him, his tail was moving with the jerky motions of agitation. His head turned to scan the area, eyes and ears poised for any sign of the vocal lion. In his veins, the blood pounded, rushing through his ears and burning deep in his core. It sang to him. A sweet song of rage and anger. But recently, accompanying that song, was the thrum of a headache. He could feel it now, thudding behind his eyes.

He ignored it.

Stepping forwards, huffing loudly with each exhale, he tasted the air for a scent and caught a hint of familiarity upon the wind.

Hssiss - perhaps against his better judgement - roared back.

The white lion had not been expecting a response. The other roar was unmistakably masculine and that, combined with Yareha's lingering anger at the red lion, triggered a surge of rage that flooded his veins. It was reminiscent of how he'd felt the day he'd nearly slain his own cousin...and then the emotion kept escalating.

Yareha let loose another roar, an unsubtle warning as to what the other lion was in for, before running as fast as he could to the source of the response. The lion wouldn't escape from his claws and even if it was some poor sod who'd roared in the wrong place at the wrong time, Yareha had every intention of slicing him to ribbons.

His body was alive with anticipation, the muscles in his jaw working back and forth as if biting down on some imaginary limb. With five bounds, he crested a slight incline in the ground, braced his position and lifted his head high. There was a mad glimmer in his eye already; his heart beating out a war chant against the bars of his rib cage.

And then, at last. A flash of white.

Still, as the white figure became larger and the male's markings made themselves known, Hssiss could not quite place him. The vision he had suffered the day he had encountered Yareha had addled his memory, though the familiarity continued to nag at him.

In the end, however, it mattered little.

This was Hssiss' new territory now and he would protect it and relish in doing so.

He roared again, shifting into a dominant position as he waited. The message was clear: come closer and there would be a fight.

There! A black lion-shaped shadow, with red details on the forehead and front paws. At this point, all Yareha cared about was the fact that the other was male and available for him to decimate. He roared out his challenge once more before charging directly at his opponent.

There was no more room for rational thought in the white lion's brain, otherwise he likely would have remembered the black lion whose taste for violence he'd scorned. Not to mention that this particular black lion had seen things he'd had no right to know, had claimed to be the child of a god.

Yes, it was probably for the best that Yareha had no attention whatsoever to remember who the black lion was. If so, he might, if it was possible, be even more viciously violent than the so-called god's curse and his own rampaging emotions had made him.

Hssiss stood his ground, tail thrashing behind him, head raised high. His eyes were bright with intent but it seemed that he was at least going to stand his ground. In his head he pictured him leaping down onto the pale lion, rolling them across the dirt; his teeth spraying blood, the taste of it filling his mouth.

He roared again, the sound rolling into a growling snarl and then he lowered his body into pounce position, his hind legs quivering as he held himself back.

Only then, a few strides apart, did he have a flash of recognition.

I am nothing like you.

Hssiss blinked, held himself a moment longer, letting the memory wash over him. A memory accompanied by rage and pain. Blinding pain that had seen him sprawled across the floor.

He harnessed the memory.

And then he leaped.

Like titans the two met, paw to paw, each seeking dominance over the other even as it was only their opponent's resistance that kept them upright. Balanced on their hind legs, the two wrestled, white and black together, blue eyes glaring into red eyes in the moments between trying to bite and snap at the other.

It seemed that neither held the advantage over the other...and just as surely neither was interested in giving up. Yareha himself could only taste frustration and anger at the black lion who refused to submit to him and he snarled his fury into his enemy's face.

The muscles in his hind legs locked, his claws digging into the dry earth beneath him as far as they were able. The burn in his shoulders from their clash filled him with delight. The blue-eyed male was strong, yes, but nothing like the male of his memory.

Perhaps he had been mistaken?

With a loud snarl, he wrenched his right shoulder upwards to shift his weight hard to the left - hoping to throw the other male off-balance and force him to the ground.

The white lion was unprepared for the sudden movement and fell forward onto all fours. But he would not be felled without a fight! One forepaw, claws extended, raked down the black lion's front as gravity pulled him downwards. Yareha might not be fighting with his head, but his instinct and current lust for violence was nothing to sneeze at.

He might have been forced to the ground, but damnit, he'd shed blood!

So, first blood went to the pale lion.

Hssiss flinched at the slice of pain along his front - the damage hidden beneath the straggles of thin mane there. The dark fur worked well to hide the blood, though it would likely be matted with it later.

The dark lion curled his lips back away from his teeth and lurched forwards, swinging out a paw, curved claws unsheathed and thrown with cruel intent.

Yareha snarled as the pawful of claws caught him square across the muzzle. Bellowing in pain, he lashed out with both front paws as well as his teeth, intent on making the black lion suffer for the pain he'd caused. No, there was little sign of the real Yareha in this growling, infuriated, vicious lion. Even his expression was twisted with anger and hatred, with no trace of the confusion or disdain he'd shown in their last encounter.

Hssiss dodged backwards at the last moment, avoiding one - but not both paws. The paw that landed opened up a slither of a wound across his muzzle, spilling blood down his chin.

He laughed then, dancing back and forth.

"You must really want my territory." He called out in a sing-song voice, lunging back in to give the lion another swipe with a paw.

This was too much fun. It wasn't often he met someone angrier than he was. Is that really what he looked like when he was on one of his rage fits?

Unlike when he'd met lionesses under the influence of the red lion's curse, Yareha had no words to spare for the black lion. He merely growled his anger, snarled his displeasure and roared his rage. No words were necessary in this case. Not to mention he didn't give a s**t about territory. He simply wanted to rend his opponent limb from limb.

For some reason, he felt that this black lion deserved it more than most. But that inkling of memory did not provide any further enlightenment. Even if it had, Yareha wouldn't have cared.

The white lion endeavored to dodge the next swipe, but wasn't fast enough, allowing his opponent to score once more on his tender nose. Yareha snarled again, snaking his head around to try and bite at the other's neck.

He was also beginning to pant heavily.
PostPosted: Mon May 27, 2013 2:47 pm

Yareha's teeth came just short of their mark, clipping air - the snap of his jaws closing ringing in the dark lion's ears.

The headache was still present, but quiet, a low throb in the back of his mind. Not like last time. Not at all like last time. This was good. Very good, in fact. He still did not contribute his rage to his headaches - could not make that link between his rage being the trigger.

Maybe he never would.

He was grinning, though, his teeth all sharp and glistening in contrast to the dark muzzle. "Oh, brother. Poor brother. What happened to you?" He jeered. The memories just kept on returning now, feeding his intent to attack. "You are tiring."

And again he lunged, more to jibe than anything this time. A good slap or two just to see how angry he could make him.

This situation really shouldn't have been so fun. And yet it was, even now as they danced with death; put their lives on the line.

To Hssiss this was but a daily occurrence and he hadn't lost his life yet. What was the point of living if you didn't risk death every now and then, hm?

Yareha responded blow for blow, but there was less force behind his paws than before. He was indeed getting tired, and why not? He'd been rather active ever since running into the red lion. Whether with running or...other activities...the white lion had not gotten much rest and precious little time for recovery.

But he refused to give up. As Hssiss lunged for him, Yareha also lunged forward, knocking their skulls together soundly.

That really hurt. But it should have hurt the black lion too. That was all that mattered to Yareha at this point.
