The forests of Serenia were definitely something to miss, the teenaged blonde noted as he walked through the serene scenery of golden leaves falling all around him. There was a cool breeze blowing past, rustling up his short and somewhat messy hair, mussing it up a bit more in the process. Ainsley loved it here though, he always had. The Serenian forests were such a big part of his childhood, miserable as it had been under the strict and watchful eyes of the Mistress. He was always so relaxed and at peace when he was wandering through the myriad of trees..
Though recently he started noting all of the bad things in the forest that he'd never had a displeasure of encountering before he met Quan. Perhaps accidentally shoving a stick into a dragon's nose is not the best sort of first impression to give to the creatures, but one would never think the entire population of them would hold a grudge against him for it. Or maybe that was just him.
As this thought came to mind, Ainsley found he was facing the back of an Ysali dragon. He'd been meandering through the trees and eventually made his way into a clearing where this particular dragon had taken to napping in. The frustration with the Ysali dragons came bubbling up, and Ainsley quickly went to face the dragon. He wanted payback, and now was probably a better time for it rather than later. The dragon was already lying there, after all.
"Hey!" he called, poking its eyes with a stick. "Wake up, you stupid dragon!" the blonde went on, his axe ready in his other hand while he continued to poke the dragon. It soon stirred into the waking world, clearly unhappy that it was brought back so soon. With a low, rumbling growl it stood up and stretched out the length of its wingspan and its height, towering over Ainsley and glaring down at him with green, almost glowing eyes.
Within seconds, it let out a roar, quite probably in anger, and attacked Ainsley. Luckily the teen had been expecting it, and he dodged it just in time. With a quick motion, he blinded his opponent with his axe, and as it cried out in anguish he made his way onto its head and began his onslaught. Needless to say, the dragon went down within minutes. Ainsley, however, didn't feel all too satisfied. When the remains of the dragon disappeared he picked up the orb and walked on, hoping to run into another on along the way...

The next dragon he happened upon was eating, quite peacefully, but unfortunately Ainsley's blood was boiling by then. Not that he hated dragons or anything, but these Ysali had it in for him when he was younger. He was just returning the favor, as far as he was concerned, so when he saw it he picked up a relatively large rock and chucked it at the dragon's head. Naturally, he caught its attention in a rather unpleasant way. It turned and gave another roar, then picked itself up off the ground and flew at him, claws stretched out and aiming for his head. Ainsley wasn't quite able to dodge this attack considering the speed it was going, so he found as he threw himself to the side and rolled to safety that there was a lingering wound on his leg where the dragon must have made contact.
With furrowed brows he picked himself up and took no time in making for the trees. The Ysali had an advantage with its wings, but he could easily take care of those if he was given the right situation. The dragon took almost no time at all in turning around and coming right back for him, but by the time it made it into the clearing Ainsley had climbed up into a tree. As it gave another roar out of frustration, with ears ringing at the sound Ainsley jumped and climbed aboard the dragon's back. It took to the skies this time, so, with a determined look on his face, Ainsley set about his task to de-wing the creature.
And he succeeded, though not entirely. He wounded the creature enough to send it crashing into the ground, but the impact seemed to have done the rest of his job for him. Moments after the crash landing, during which Ainsley was send flying and eventually colliding into a tree, the dragon disappeared and only its orb lay where its remains would have been. After gathering himself and shaking out the aches that had started to crop up with the successive dragon encounters, the teen picked it up and kept on going, stopping just long enough to clean his axe. He still wasn't quite satisfied, so he kept on with his hunt...

Going to fight another dragon after colliding rather hard into a tree probably wasn't a very good idea, but with all the adrenaline rushing through him and the desire to get them back for giving him so much trouble before, Ainsley cared very little about feeling tired and winded and exhausted. He need to get even, and that meant that he needed to find more dragons. So find them he did, or at least he found his next target. The Ysali dragon in his sights was sitting around in the distance, relaxing perhaps after a good meal. After chucking another sizable stone at it and hitting his mark, Ainsley managed to get this dragon's attention as well. Smirking, he quickly rolled to the side as the dragon came barreling at him.
It didn't really seem like the thinking sort, so it kept on barreling until Ainsley snuck up behind it and chucked his axe straight into its back. It howled in pain and began to circle, trying to get the weapon lodged in its body. Without a weapon, the teen took to the trees again. He didn't anticipate losing his axe, in any case, so he wasn't really ready for it. After nestling into a branch, he wiped the sweat from his brow and watched the dragon continue to circle and cry out in pain.
"Damnit all..." he muttered, eyes focusing on his weapon that was still in the dragon's back. He really didn't have much of a choice, so without giving himself a chance to second guess himself, Ainsley jumped down and onto the dragon's neck, roughly sliding down to its back and trying his best to dislodge his weapon. The dragon kept circling and kept trying to get him, as well as the weapon, off of it without any margin of success. Ainsley's hands were gripping the edge of the dragon's wings as he reached for his weapon, just barely managing to grab the blade before the dragon bucked and sent him flying off of its back, cutting his hand in the process.
The pain shot up his arm as he landed on his shoulder, injuring himself that much more. The axe was still in its back, however, and it was growing tired. It eventually had to stop circling to catch its breath, and in that span of time Ainsley had recovered some as well. After tearing off a bit of his shirt, he banded his new, and relatively deep, cut and made for his weapon again. The dragon, considerably exhausted, was lying down on its side in the distance, the axe jutting out from its back. It was easy enough to get close to his weapon, and after gripping its handle he made one quick, strong motion and freed the blade of his axe from where it's gotten stuck.
The dragon cried out in pain once again, but was too tired to do much more than that. It lay down, defeated and in the process of recovering. Ainsley's merciful side, however, was nowhere in sight. He quickly put it to its end and collected his orb, then made off for their new camp site. He needed to recover, and in his current state, no matter how many more dragons he needed to take care of to even the score, he knew better than to go looking for another one...

Unfortunately, as he half-expected, another dragon seemed to find him as he went on his way back to their camp site. Perhaps it tracked the scent of its fallen comrades, or perhaps it was just looking for a fight as Ainsley had been not too long ago, but whatever the case may have been it came across Ainsley's path, eyes narrowed and ready to fight. The teenaged blonde didn't protest, though his body was sore all over and he was just about ready to collapse if he was given the opportunity to. Taking his axe into his hands hopefully for the last time that day, Ainsley readied himself for the dragon's oncoming assault..
He lifted up the blade of his axe just in time to block the dragon's claws from making serious contact with his face. The tip of it scratched his cheek some, sending a tiny bit of blood trailing down his cheek as he fended off his attacked. The dragon roared and kept on coming with its attack, giving Ainsley only enough time to react and block and little time to do much of anything else. The teen knew he needed the upper hand in order not to lose by way of exhausting the last of his energy though, so with a good push he managed to get the dragons claw away from him long enough to turn his axe just enough to ensure that the dragon's next attack made contact with the blade of his weapon.
With the dragon's next swipe it dug his axe deep into its flesh; it didn't seem to faze the giant beast, however, and it kept on coming. The more it came, the deeper Ainsley's axe cut into its flesh. It seemed blinded to the pain for whatever reason, and Ainsley didn't see any reason to stop it. He just needed it to get a bit more tired and he could deal a few blows himself.
His turn came soon enough, as the cuts had finally gotten deep enough to force the dragon to take a step back and perhaps rethink its strategy. Its claws were bloody but it roared in anger at the blonde, who had narrowed his eyes and made a run at the creature. The dragon didn't back down and run toward him as well, the end result being an axe in its face while Ainsley was sent flying into the trees only seconds afterward. The creature cried out in anguish and was shaking its head to try and rid the pain shooting through its cheek from the new wound Ainsley had just given it. The teen, in the meantime, was recovering just enough to see the dragon in a fluster, so he forced himself up and tried for another hit. The dragon returned in kind, only it didn't anticipate Ainsley jumping out of the way, so it instead rammed its head into a tree.
Ainsley took that opportunity to win this battle, and while the dragon was still dazed he quickly ended it and collected his orb. The adrenaline was slowly fading as he continued on his way back home, and as soon as he was in the clearing and Quan was in sight, the blonde collapsed. Too many dragons for his liking, but at least he got even. At least.
