Anastasia looked closely at the flower indicated to her by Persephone. Her lesson was going excellent, she had already learned that dandelions were not actually flowers at all, no matter how hard they pretended, and that if you rubbed them against your fur, it left its pollen behind, but there were quite a few flowers that did that, and Persephone said they would run into them, but it wasn't what she was being shown now. The one she had was tiny, and blue, called Scilla.

Persephone smiled brightly at her pupil, excited that she was so quick to pick up what she had to show her. Their learning spot did not wield an over abundance of flowers and plants, which was good for a first lesson, as there wasn't too much for the filly to get distracted by, though she wasn't sure she would, she seemed very focused on what she had to say, and it pleased her. "How about I teach you a few more flowers, and I show you how to make a flower necklace?" She giggled at the foals enthusiasm, and nudged her. They were both slowly becoming covered in pollen, especially since Anastasia had expired quite a few dandelions by rubbing them on them to see the pollen.

Blue skies with a light breeze, birds chirping a lovely tune, and brightly colored flowers dotting the otherwise green landscape all made for the perfect day. An exasperated sigh escaped one lone soquili, however, as he trudged through the clouds of pollen that danced through the air. With the bright sun beating down on the dark stallion's back, a thin layer of sweat began to form over the stallion's skin. Why did the day have to be so hot?

The irritated stallion tossed his head in hopes of removing most of the hair from sticking to his neck. All he seemed to do was spread the hair slightly more over himself. Growling softly, Nishant glared in the direction of where he thought he heard a voice. Perhaps there was water in that direction? With a slightly more hopeful demeanor overcoming him, the stallion picked up his pace and headed straight for where Persephone was giving the young filly a lesson on the color flowers that dotted the land.

Anastasia giggled and nodded at Persephones suggestion. Then looked about for an interesting flower she wanted to learn about next. Spotting vast amounts of tiny yellow flowers on a vine she jumped at the possibility of learning about the pretty little things. But just when she was about to chomp down and pick some, Persephone stopped her.

"Anastasia, don't!" Persephone was quickly by the filly's side and checking the leaves for bite marks, then the fillys mouth for pollen and other signs she bit the plant. When she was satisfied she hadn't, she blew out a breath, then smiled at the filly, nudging her gently. "We don't want to put our mouths on this plant dear. I know they look friendly, but they are very deceptive." She indicated the flowers on the plant. "They look an awful lot like honeysuckle, which you will learn about later, but they should never be eaten. These flowers are Yellow Jessamine, and are quite poisonous." When she finished her explanation her ears were met with soft hoof beats and rustling. She looked quickly down at Anastasia and silently shushed her, then corralled her with a gossamer wing to stand close beside her. She smelled nothing, as the wind was not in her favor, but in the strangers, blowing their scent in his direction. She prayed that they smelled enough like flowers to fool a predator, but then, their voices would have given them away.

Upon stumbling across the mare and foal, a heavy sigh of displeasure escaped the dark stallion. The once hopeful look had been swept away and a disappointed one soon took its place. There was no water in sight, not even the slightest bit of a creek... nothing. Well, perhaps he should keep moving, Nishant wasn't really one to approach another soquili and start a conversation...

The purple orbs in his skull peered from the filly to the black mare then back again. It seemed this mother was over protective of her foal... if it was her foal. Her fear was logical, he supposed. Based on his appearance one could easily be frightened. Perhaps it was the golden, arched horns that adorned his skull or his poisonous, purple eyes that seemed to stand out amongst the shadows cast by his dark mane. Then again, she could just be afraid of stallions. A small shrug pushed those thoughts aside as he focused on the two females that were at a nonthreatening distance away. What this mare didn't realize was that Nishant was more uneasy with conversation than she was uneasy of him. Soon, Nishant found himself mimicking the mare's rigid stance. With his muscles tightening, the medium sized stallion braced himself for whatever this mare would toss at him. It took everything in him to refrain from snarling as he watched for a moment longer.

Anastasia curiously peered out from behind Persephone to better see the soquili entering their flower clearing. A grin broke across the young filly's face and before Persephone could stop her she was stepping out from behind the protective wing and prancing over to him. He was big, but her being a foal, everyone was big, she looked back to Persephone, the grin still plastered on her face. "He looks like you, Persephone! He's the same colors and...and he even has pretty wings like yours!"

"Anastasia, no!" Persephone hissed at her charge and tried to stop her, but it was too late, she was prancing over to the strange, yet if she were to be truthful with herself, striking stallion who emerged into their clearing. She found herself looking up into entrancing purple eyes and after a moment realized she was staring. A blush flushed her ebony cheeks and she directed her attention down to the chattering filly. "Yes love we do have a lot of similarities, but why don't you come back to me now?" She watched the filly and the stallion closely, and was grateful when Anastasia moved back to her side. Exhaling a breath she hadn't known she was holding, she brought her attention back to the stallion. "Pardon us, if this is your territory, we were unaware."

Anastasia had moved back to stand with Persephone again, feeling slightly embarrassed. Being an excitable little filly was hard, and sometimes things just tumbled out of her mouth, like now; "Whats your name, mister?"

The toxic purple eyes the stallion possessed now focused on the quickly approaching filly. He wasn't used to having young ones around him. Yes, he had a sibling, but even when they were young foals he had been a grump and she was off causing her own havoc and finding ways to annoy him. Slowly, one eyebrow began to lift as he looked back at the foal's mother... or what he assumed to be its mother. When the filly suddenly called the mare by her first name, the pieces of the puzzle he was putting together suddenly jumbled up once again. So they weren't mother and foal.

His attention was grasped once more by the filly when she called his wings pretty. A low growl rumbled in his throat for a moment before he stopped himself abruptly when the filly turned and joined the mare once more. What was that for? He shook his head slowly at his rude and slightly cruel behavior towards the harmless filly. If the mare didn't run before, she sure would now if she even noticed his growl... Soon, he caught a glimpse of the mare staring at him and he made a mental note of the strange behavior. His lion tail soon curled around one of his legs uneasily as his ears focused on the dark colored mare as she spoke to him. Her voice... it was quite calming. Huh. The rage that had previously been building up seemed to disappear as he shook his head to her apology. "This is not my land, I am simply searching for water to relieve my seemingly melting hooves." In fact, it felt as though his whole body would melt by the end of the day if he stayed in the sun for too long.

Again, Nishant peered down at the filly and forced a slightly awkward smile on his face as he answered her question. "I am Nishant." There was no nickname or anything that others were allowed to call him. Only one mare seemed to have come up with a nickname that would irk him slightly.

Persephone watched the strange stallion closely, he seemed at odds with the situation, and well, who could blame him? She herself was on edge, mostly because Anastasia, in her innocence didn't understand the danger other soquili could carry with them. Her pale eyes took note of the horns curled on his skull, his leonine tail, and indeed the large flutter wings he had on display. Slight concern arched her brow ever so slightly. Curious to know if this stallion was at constant war with himself. Her delicate ears had caught the growl, but what made her question this peculiar stallion, instead of run away was the fact that he had stopped himself short, and now smiled down at Anastasia, though awkwardly. Persephone had done her thinking and was probably going to do something rather stupid. Delicately she cleared her throat; "Nishant? I am Persephone. I'm sorry to have distracted you from your quest." The light and almost nonexistent summer wind blew by, playing with her thick heavy hair before dying altogether allowing the sun to resume its constant bearing down. "If you would like, I know the area and know where there is cool running water."

Anastasia grinned until her nose wrinkled and her eyes sparkled with delight that the stallion had spoken to her. "Oh! I'm Anastasia!" Her vibrant tail wiggled from her radiating excitement and she barley contained herself from prancing in place, though the soft clearing of Persephone's throat brought her wide eyed attention up to her teachers face and all other ideas were blown away when she heard mention of water. "Oh, Persephone! Can we go? Can we? Mommy and Papa won't be mad! They know its hot, and they like you! Oh please, can we go swimming?" When she got a glance from the mare, she took the hint. She may be persistent, but was aware of when she should calm down.

Pieces of the puzzle started clicking once more as he found out the mare was nothing more than a care taker for this naive filly. When the foal seemed unfazed by his growl, Nishant felt a breath release from his chest cavity as a wave of relief rushed over him. He glanced at the mare, curious as to why she hadn't reacted to his growl, either. Perhaps she hadn't noticed it either or perhaps she simply chose to ignore it. Either way, Nishant was relieved that they hadn't run off. As the two introduced himself, his tail curled once more as he felt a bit ashamed of himself. Was he supposed to ask for their names as well, even though he had gathered the information from their mini conversations? Why was he so horrible at this conversation thing... what was wrong with him?

Oh! He was spacing out again. Now what had they said? Nishant, now focused, quickly gathered that they had asked him to join them to find the water source the mare... er... Persephone knew about. "I wouldn't mind getting a drink of cool water." After the day he was having, Nishant needed something to cool him down and calm his nerves. With a sigh, he watched the bouncing and prancing filly. She was so young, so naive, so... foolish. The young one should be taught that not everyone out there is kind and she should be cautious. Even the nicest of creatures could easily snap her small body in half with a quick snap of its jaws. Sneering at the thought, Nishant was pulled out of his thoughts once more and felt his face almost change completely. Why had those thoughts even crossed his mind? The poor filly should never have to suffer such a thing. Soon, he found himself smiling at the foal once more before picking his hoof up a stamping it in an almost militant fashion as he tried to mimic the foal's prancing. "Well... what are we waiting for?"

Persephone watched the stallions face curiously, trying to place what she saw there and not quite understanding it herself. She was intrigued by this stallion, his reactions were not what she would have thought them to be, and kept catching her completely off guard. Her ears stayed forward to alert her of any impending danger he may posses. What had made her offer her company to this stallion?

Fondly Persephone looked down at the yabbering filly and nodded. "I know they won't mind, Ana. We can go, just stay next to me, okay?" She bent down and nuzzled her before straightening to look at Nishant. "Um, its this way." And she indicated the way through the thick grass covering the downgrade of a hill.

Anastasia jumped in excitement, forgetting her wish for learning today in hopes of swimming in the cool water. She followed excitedly at Persephone's side then looked back at the stallion. "C'mon mister Nishant! Persephone knows the way!"

Noting the mare watching him closely, Nishant felt his tail curl close to his body once more as his ears seemed to droop slightly. She could tell he was acting strange... Would all soquili be untrusting of him? He sighed at the thought before shaking his head slightly and looking up the mare as she spoke to the small filly. Just as he thought, the mare was being very protective of the filly around him. Perhaps it was better that she did act this way around Nishant. There was no telling when he would snap. Her soft and gentle voice, encouraging him to follow only made the stallion smile once more as he walked along her side, keeping an eye out for any possible predators in the area.

Purple eyes now focused on the filly for a moment. She was so innocent and naive. Although he was awkward around the young one, he still enjoyed her excitement. This wasn't like him... this was a softer side of Nishant that very few were honored to be able to see. The usually rigid male could feel himself relaxing around these two. What was going on?! A snort escaped him as he straightened up once more and followed along with the two females. "How far is this area?"

Persephone and Anastasia stopped at the top of the hill and the older mare smiled down at the young filly, then behind her to their guest. "I told you I knew where the river was." She turned back to Anastasia and nuzzled her. "How about I race you? Last one there is a rotten apple!" She grinned and took off at a timely trott, but made sure she wasn't going too fast for Anastasia to be unable to pass her.

Anastasia squealed with delight at the challenge and took off as fast as she could will her legs to go and soon she had passed Persephone as they made their way to the river.
