The large stallion felt a bit of calmness sweep over him as he walked along the path leading out of the forest. Not only had he not been active for a very long time, but it had been awhile since he even walked down this very same road. He didn't have to worry about his children much anymore because they were growing up so much. They were actually moving on with their lives and here he was alone like he has always been. Ezekiel was away doing something or other, most likely grazing by the herd lands. The stallion never got on his case about it, so he just let it go. The buffalo was lazy anyway. The thought of him created a very pleasant smirk to appear on his muzzle.
"Oh what a family.." He muttered lightly under his breath. His tone was fickle and very sarcastic, but no one was around to hear him anyway. He was becoming like Jeremiah. Old, battle-scarred, and weary. Even though his life was full of battle and triumphs, he felt it was his time to settle down or at least slow up in life. His children were grown with no clear sight of more in the future, he was ready to keep things more simple. The last thing he wanted was to be injured with no way or healing it.
He then paused and lifted his head. The air shifted and the smell of rain filled the air. Was this a good thing? He thought silently to himself as he took a slow gander around the open field ahead of him. The air was dry, yet he could feel something lingering on the horizon. He didn't know what it was, but something was coming. "Should I be on my guard..?" He asked himself before tensing up just a little bit. He hadn't fought in awhile and it would probably show. Even if he trained his entire life, this was the only time in his existence that he took a break.
With a strong push, he walked towards the darkening clouds. Soon enough he felt the slow and steady beating of rain hitting his back.

Dark clouds swirled above a lone mare as rain slowly began to pitter-patter against the leaves of nearby trees. Any attempt to escape the ominous sky would be fruitless. Soon the sky would be swallowed by the darkness, leaving the soquili land with a grim appearance as soquili and other creatures found shelter with their families away from the rain. Few soquili remained alone at times like this, when predators could use the elements in their favor during a hunt.
Now broken and alone, the tiny mare seemed to have nothing and no one. Her son was gone and an emptiness seemed to be eating at the mare's sanity, or what was left of it. A single tear trickled down her cheek as pain surged through her body. It felt as though a skinwalker ripped her heart out of her chest cavity and left her to suffer. Quickly, she shook her head as rain began to wash away some of the blood that stained her coat and her mind seemed to switch. "You fool! How could you allow someone to expose your weakness?!" Silence filled the air for a moment as the mare peered up at the continuously darkening skies. Snarling, Morana tossed her head angrily as her spaded tail whipped back and forth. What an idiot she had become! She would never make this ridiculous mistake ever again.
Again, her disposition seemed to change. Her pure white eyes softened and another tear trickled down her cheek once more. She couldn't believe what had happened... what she had caused to happen. "I-I'm sorry... I should have listened." Morana shook her head again, slightly relieved that it was raining, which easily masked the few tears that managed to escape her. Although inside she was broken, on the outside, Morana continued to appear fierce yet beautiful. No one would ever see her weakness again, this promise she made to herself.

Flicking his tail behind himself, the large stallion examined her more and more before taking another step forward. He had to be on his guard because he had heard kalona's mixed with unicorn blood were a little crazy. He didn't want to take any chances then end up some kind of dinner for this mare. "You weren't intruding." He told her simply with a strong flick of his long mane. Keeping an eye on her, he wandered over to a small puddle that must have formed over during the night. Lowering his head, he took a quick drink then gazed back to the mare and gave a snort. "Are you alright? Is there anything troubling you?" The stallion could care less about her life, but he was simply making small talk. If this was his family it would be a different story, but she wasn't part of his family.
His mind wasn't with him at the moment. Even though it seemed to be, he was thinking about his family and where his life was going. It seemed like things within the family had calmed down, but he still felt so restless. He didn't understand it and the more he tried to find an answer, the more angry he would get. His son was receiving a brunt of that anger and he didn't mean to be. "If your going to attack me I would be wary. I don't take kindly to those trying to rip my head off." He said simply to her flicking his tail behind herself one more time.

White eyes darted up towards the towering stallion that now seemed to be speaking to the bloodied mare. With skull pinned ears, the petite mare began to hiss at the stallion, "I wasn't speaking to you, male." The last word she spat out as though it were poison on her tongue. A quick flash of sharp fangs warned the stallion of her sour attitude that had overwhelmed the mare. Her mind soon slipped away to the conversation she was just having with herself and found those white eyes now glaring angrily at the tricolored stallion. His two questions threw her through a loop, causing the mare to have to think a moment about what to say in response to such a question. What if he is different? He may actually care... She heard the whisper before she hissed at the thought and flicked a leathery wing at Gabriel. "Why would a complete stranger care if I were troubled?" Just as this male didn't want to allow his guard down around the mare, Morana wouldn't trust herself to relax while around this male. No male was to be trusted. In fact, no soquili or living creature was to be trusted ever again.
A soft, almost motherly smile tugged on the white female's maw for a split moment. "Now why would I attack you when you seem to be so kind?" It was obvious that something in the mare had changed, but she didn't allow visible signs of the war that was taking place inside her to show. No one deserved to experience the insanity that was this heartbroken unikalona mare. Morana sighed softly as she felt as though her intestines were twisting within her body cavity.
