Kilian patted Amadia on the head. “Stay home this time. You need your rest.” The drakein was angry at being left behind but knew it was for the best. She was still sore from the dragon hunt they had failed at. Amadia snorted at the memory and at Kilian for leaving her behind. “Sorry.” He said as he left and headed out to the forest.

There really was no reason for Amadia to come with him anyway. He was not going on a hunt. In fact, he was just going after some herbs to use in a salve for sore muscles. Something Amadia and him had plenty of. Amadia, more so than him though. It still hurt him to take deep breaths at times though.

He made his way to the forest, hoping to find the herbs quickly. However, he had to go deeper into the forest than he wanted, causing him to lose some of the light that had been in the sky. As Kilian bent to pick some herbs something rustled the foliage behind him. His hand instinctively reached for one of his daggers. He didn’t think. Instead, he pulled the dagger out of it’s sheath and turned around quickly, sending the dagger flying into brush where the sound had come from.

Kilian grimaced at the shrill sound that came from the spot his dagger had disappeared into. That was most definitely not a sound he had ever heard a dragon make before. As that thought crossed his mind a creature emerged from the foliage. It was a Hastar. The dagger that Kilian had thrown was stuck in it’s chest, blood flowing freely down the beast’s chest.

The Hastars that were found on Soudul were usually a friendly breed. They would defend fo the need arose but they were mostly gentle creatures. Kilian grimaced at the sight. If he had known it was only a Hastar, he would not have thrown his dagger. The beast had probably just been curious about what Kilian was doing. With a heavy heart, Kilian pulled out his other dagger and proceeded to put the thing out of it’s misery. With that being done, Kilian decided he would not let the creature’s flesh and hide go to waste.
