The white lion ranged through a drier land than he'd grown up in, with sparser vegetation than he'd ever seen. It was a different sort of place, harsher. But not bad at all. Scenes like this had become familiar in the many moons since he had left home - the Mwezi'Johari.

Yareha stopped walking. He couldn't go back, he'd been banished, exiled, and could not return on pain of death. And yet, it seemed he still thought of the place as home.

Blue eyes filled with liquid as he realized how pathetic his life was, and how much he hadn't learned since leaving.

Dath could almost laugh. Almost. Sometimes hunting was boring, and sometimes it was exciting. He loved it when his blood was pumping, getting that adrenaline rush right before ending a life. As he stared at the pathetic white lion in front of him, his golden, snake-slitted eyes narrowed in irritation. This was boring. How many mortals had he left alone to survive, just because they had been as boring as this one?

Still, Dathcharu'kai was bored, and he wasn't going to let this little fluffy white male slip through his claws that easily. Flexing said claws, the god shed his invisible illusion, walking confidently towards the male, his black wings stretched out to his sides. This would hopefully be a little entertaining...

Yareha raised his eyes to the sky, trying not to shed his tears. Though it was midmorning, the moon was still high in the sky and it was to this celestial body that the white lion looked. A crescent, less than half full. The same moon Yareha and his siblings had been born under, marking them as being destined for the lower middle class, Hunters for all their lives.

Well, that was one thing that hadn't changed in all this time. Being a rogue meant he had to worry even more about hunting than he ever had within a pride.

The lion sighed gustily, unaware of anyone behind him.

"Great Lion...what am I meant to do?" he begged of the moon above.

Hm. Dath's feet must not have been carrying as heavy on the ground as he had thought. No big deal, because the white lion offered an opening that the crimson red god couldn't resist. Clearly he revered the gods, and he was about to meet one right in front of him.

With a deep growl, Dath stretched his black wings out even further, feeling his chest puff out as he inhaled. "What you seek is behind you, is it not?" he asked with a sadistic laugh, his intent of no-good clear within his voice. Part of him knew how insignificant it could be to put on such a 'show', but first impressions were strong, and Dath was intent to prove himself as anything but a 'good' god.

"Or do you look for the opposite, for some white winged thing to swoop down and save you from your troubles? I promise, they never do." He could almost purr with how confident he was right now.

He nearly choked at the sudden, unexpected answer. Whirling around, Yareha came face to face with a big red lion he'd never seen before. The white lion was awash with conflicting emotions, making it near-impossible for him to react to what was happening. Sorrow, confusion, embarrassment, hopelessness, fear, and anger flew through him in uncontrollable waves.

He had no idea what the red lion was talking about, however. They were merely words.

"Who are you? What are you talking about?" he demanded of the lion who was so bold as to interrupt him at prayer.

Though the black wings were clearly visible, it was obvious that if Yareha noticed them, he wasn't recognizing them for what they were.

"Ah, a toy that wants to play," the god rumbled to himself as he slowly started to pace around the white lion. He only got about halfway around before pausing, his wings slowly folding against his body as his attitude shifted. He was still amused, but also feeling the slight rush of a taunt emerging from his throat. He wanted so much to drive the lion in front of him to a fight, but from the expressions that flashed across the stranger's face, this would be difficult.

"I am a god. Don't you know about them? You were praying to one just a moment ago," he answered. "Regardless of who you were asking for, I am here now." The chuckle that emitted from his throat was dark, and Dath took a moment to adjust his jewelry, reminding the mortal of just who he was talking to.

It took a few moments, but the red lion's meaning finally penetrated through Yareha's thick skull.

This stranger was claiming to be a god. But that couldn't be. The only god he knew of was the Great Lion, whose eye was the crescent moon above their heads. Yareha's gaze narrowed, and he remembered that he'd met a lioness who had claimed to have a god for a father. He'd never met a bigger liar in his life...until now.

"The only god is the Great Lion," the white lion refuted the red male's claim. "You're just touched in the head."

Dath hadn't picked up his pacing again, but at this moment he was glad he hadn't. He laughed as soon as the white lion was claiming he was 'touched'. Dath was touched by this stupid mortal's denial, all right.

"Touched? My dear blonde, it is you who will be questioning yourself if you are touched."

He lifted his wings to cover his front half, and though it wasn't perfect, Dath worked away regardless. He knew that he was playing this up a bit more than he needed to, but he was having fun, and he wasn't going to ignore that.

When Dath pulled his wings back, the illusion cast upon him would startle the stranger. He would be looking at himself. The crimson god had cast an illusion of the white mortal on himself. It was nearly perfect (since he hadn't been able to completely look at the blondie), and as Dath pulled his wings back, they too disappeared within the illusion.

"How do you explain this?" he asked, unable to cloak his voice, but still wore a smug look on his face. "You were one, and now you are two."

The red lion's attitude, his every word was just annoying Yareha further. As the strange male spoke, the blue eyes narrowed further, and his upper lip curled in an unspoken snarl. He'd been about to retort further when two massive black wings appeared out of nowhere and shielded the other lion from view. When they withdrew, Yareha found himself looking upon...himself.

The white lion gaped in startlement at the unexpected sight. But then his jaw hardened once more. "I'm no trickster, to know how you've accomplished this illusion," he countered. "But I'm sure that it's no more than that - a hoax to try and convince me that you're some celestial being, even though you're obviously flesh and blood just like me."

"No?" Dath asked, still wearing the white lion's body. "I fear you may begin feeling like you're touched in the head..." Dath walked past him, shoving his white shoulder against white shoulder. As he did that, another illusion of sorta passed....but it was much more solid than the white-one he had just wore.

As Dath turned around, the mortal would not see him as a lion again, but as a hyena. With the shrill laughter only a hyena could produce, Dath turned around to face his toy once more.

"Still not believing anything?" the god-turned-hyena asked, his face curling into another sneer. "I don't know what to tell you, denying the truth that is right before your eyes," he said as he began to hyena-laugh again. The thrill of hunting didn't dissolve just because he changed forms.

He couldn't help it, a low growl escaped Yareha's throat as the other male proved how much of a bully he was. But the fact that he was shoved by the stranger proved that, despite whatever tricks the red male played with his appearance, he was still physically real.

The white lion had no idea how these strange illusions of appearance were being accomplished, but he was convinced of the fact that they were simply false seemings.

"Eyes can be deceived, particularly by experts, such as you appear to be," Yareha replied. This time, he took a couple steps towards the other. A hyena, or at least the appearance of a hyena, was smaller than a lion...perhaps he could...

Well, that red lion had been pretty big before he made himself look like a hyena. Maybe he shouldn't.

"Yes, 'experts'." Dath said with a shake of his head. "You are one of those monotheistic mortals. The stupidest ones there are. Always denying what is right in front of your face." His eyes darkened as he unfurled his wings, covering himself again for a moment. When his wings folded against his back once more, he was back to being the god he was. Blood crimson coat, black fire markings that licked up his legs. A large black horn peeking through his mane, with gold and garnet adornments around his ears and neck. He knew exactly what he looked like, and could never understand how a mortal denied what he was.

"I am growing tired of your ignorance. The world will not miss you, and you are my toy. You might as well start running if you hope to survive." He waved a black paw around, shooing off the white lion. "If you want to make it boring for me, so be it. The end is near for you."

He stood closer to the white lion, a deep, threatening grin returning on his face. "I am Chaos, and I hunt mortals for fun."

Yareha glared back at the other male as he changed his appearance back to the big red lion that he'd been originally. Obviously that was his natural form, and the rest were just deceptions created to fool anyone he came across. Not that Yareha was deceived in the least.

"I don't run from liars like you," the white lion spat. Just because the red lion was bigger didn't mean Yareha would just roll over and die! To prove his nerve, he took another step forward, bringing himself nearly nose to nose with the false god.

He'd never met a lion who'd thought they were divine before, but he seriously doubted this crazy idiot could be any worse than those bizarre Seers who somehow knew what he'd done in the past.

Dath rolled his eyes, his head resting within his mane for a moment. "Fine. Be boring." There really wasn't any way to convince this idiot that he was playing with his life. Really, Dath would be doing a favor to other gods if this lion died. He wasn't feeding any faith into them to keep them going, so it was better if he didn't spread his lies to any other mortals. Dath would not stand it if he lost devoted "followers" of Chaos (really, just those who feared him).

Dath maneuvered his head to move closer to the stupid lion's ear. "Just remember who killed you once you see the gates of Death. He may just ask you," he hissed. As he spoke, he rested one forepaw on the white lions shoulder, unsheathed his claws, and using them as anchor points, shoved the lion hard, hoping to knock him off his feet. Next, he'd knock the wind out of him, and Dath would thrive on watching the pitiful creature gaining his breath again.

One thing at a time, he told himself. Grounded, winded, and finally, suffocation.

The red lion's claws in his shoulder were not totally unexpected. Granted, no one else had done something quite like that to him, but given the tone of their "conversation", Yareha had been braced and ready for an attack. The sudden pain caused the leg connected to his shoulder to collapse in sudden pain, but the white lion refused to go down so easily.

"Don't boast until you've done your deed," he growled back, before extending his neck as far as it would go towards his opponent, and snapping his teeth decisively.

Maybe that would get the red male to remove claws from shoulder.
