~Beach Day~

Location : Beach
Date: Summer 1st
Time : 10am - 11pm

Summer has officially begun, and what's a better way of welcoming the season than going where the sun shines brightest? Get your beach blanket and your swimsuit and head out to the beach to bask in the sun, swim, play volleyball, or build a sandcastle. Of course, the best part of going to the beach is the swimsuits, so you may even consider entering Nirvani's own swimsuit contest! Only those with the best looking swimsuits can win! Afterwards, why not end the day by watching the fireworks display with a loved one?

Past Winners:
Year 25
Kade Waldroup & River Park

Rules:
1. To enter a character in the swimsuit contest, please make an OOC note saying so.

2. Participants must be at least 16 years of age.

3. Every character will vote two times, once for males candidates, and once for female candidates. This should be stated in OOC and can be done in character as well.

4. Should there ever be a tie, a poll will be placed and users will have to break it by voting.

Once again, Beach Day was graced by perfect weather. The sun shone brightly, there was a light breeze, and the water sparkled a brilliant blue~ Of course, January could see none of this, as she was being carried down the shore in her palanquin. It was painted lavender and the blinds were firmly shut. It had taken some coercing to convince some of the Sonata household staff to carry her around in a box, but after the promise of a raise, January managed to get four NPC gardeners to do the job -- though they weren't very good. As they stumbled through the sand, January bounced around inside the palanquin, knocking over a decanter of juice at one point.

"What was that, you monkeys?" January cried as she climbed awkwardly out of the palanquin once it had been set down on the sand next to the Sonata's tent. The servants had set it up earlier that morning, with a canopy overhead and some chairs and tables. "Go away, find someone else to carry me home," she waved her hand dismissively at the NPC gardeners who had rattled her all the way there. With a huff, she hurried over to sit on one of the chairs, tossing her sarong over her shoulder. She had put on a cute pink bikini and was intending to show off her figure, but that morning she had realized that there was no way to stuff her bikini top to make it look like she had cleavage without it being totally obvious. So she just wrapped herself up in a bunch of sarongs, leaving her gangly, knock-kneed legs to poke out underneath. She liked to think she looked luxurious, like a Sultan's concubine lounging on an Egyptian beach (was that right?), but it was a little hot like that.

Beach Day was a Park family tradition, and so the whole clan had shown up! ...In this case, the 'whole clan' was just River's family and Elliot. But that was good enough for any of them! River was wearing her old swimsuit, with a turtle-shaped inner-tube around her waist and a beach ball under one arm. She had been chatting with Elliot absentmindedly, but once the sand was under her feet, she stopped mid-sentence and grinned. "Jeremy!" she cried as she tossed the beach ball at her son, cackling lightly as it bounced off his red-haired head. "Race you to the water!" she yelled before sprinting down to the ocean as fast as her short legs could carry her.

Jeremy had learned by this point to expect very little maturity from his mother, and after picking up the beach ball in startled puzzlement, he let out a loud "Huh? Oh!" as River's words sunk in. He then chased after her, holding the beach ball up over his head as he ran.

Elliot watched her sister and son frolic with a blank expression before readjusting her hat. She didn't want to get sunburned, afterall, and one couldn't rely on sunscreen alone. Once she was sure she was well covered, she slipped the beach bag she was carrying off her shoulder and began to unpack. Might as well start setting up...

When she was younger, Yuri loved Beach Day. She wasn't that keen on the beach itself, and wasn't a strong swimmer, but she liked dressing up in a cute swimsuit and going out and getting some sun. But to be honest, she didn't really feel like coming today. She'd been feeling so awful, she would have much rather stayed in bed with the curtains closed all day. But even she knew how pathetic that was, so maybe coming out here would help her feel better. She had called up Junior and invited him, so she wouldn't have to come alone, and she fished out one of her pre-pregnancy swimsuits from the bottom of her drawer. But somehow, she didn't feel any better. She sat on their beach blanket, the one she shared with Junior, and stared at her feet. She had put on a black bikini -- anything brighter had seemed too much -- but for the first time in her life she felt a little vulnerable showing off that much skin, so she was wrapped up in her beach towel. What a cheerful sight she was! "...It's really hot today," she said absentmindedly to Junior, though whether or not he was listening she wasn't sure.

If any festival was made for Garland, it was this one. Beach! Ocean! Girls! Swimsuits! Girls in swimsuits! Garland stood at the edge of the beach and beheld the glory that was Beach Day. ...It wasn't that glorious to tell the truth; not many people were there yet. But they would be! He checked his swimsuit for the fifth time, just reeealllyyyy making sure that his swim trunks weren't on backwards, and then he sat down on the ground to wait. Setting the large inflatable shark he had brought with him down on the sand, he absentmindedly began to cover his legs in sand. Once some hot girls got there, this day was gonna be awesome.

As the ocean breeze flew across the area, a young, dirty young traveler stepped onto the hot beach sands. His eyes gazed upon the cool sapphire waters as the waves lapped against the dry sand. The sound of seagulls filled his ears as he felt, and heard the wind blow against him. The man looked out to the traveling residence, and smiled softly. "This can be fun..."

"Aha~~~ Look guys! The beach!"
A cheerful voice sang as a group of four stepped foot onto the sand. "You guys ready for some fun?" A beaming Erika spoke to the little Allen-King twins. Each twin was holding one of the woman's hand, looking up at her with big round eyes, dressed in little sailor outfits. A big smile stretched across May's face as she nodded with her entire body. Jeffery clutched harder onto Erika's hand. Erika giggled and smiled one more, lifting the two tykes into her arms. She began walking towards an open spot for them to set up shop. The reason why the twins were with Erika today was because their father had a project to work on and their uncle seemed to be at work. And for whatever reason, June refused the idea of letting their mother take them to the beach. Erika really didn't get the details of it all, but, being their regular baby-sitter, she was fine with watching them for the day. "After all, you two are so cute~" She cooed as she placed the two on a green stripped beach towel she had brought for the day. She removed the pink sun dress she was wearing to reveal a pink flower print bikini. She throw it to the side and turned to the kids, "Now lets get some sun-block on you guys. You too Maddy."

Maddy was dragged out of the house by his sister under the pretenses of playing at the beach. After some persuading from his father, the boy gave up any attempt to try and get out of the situation. He thought how maybe it even would be fun! He wished. Oh, did he wish. But, with a sister like Erika, it was impossible. She had already tried to force him into one of her old sundresses, saying how it would be 'the cutest thing in the world'. Maddy turned green at the thought. When his sister addressed him, he sighed. He removed the blue t-shirt he had on with his white and blue polka-dot bathing suit. Taking the bottle from his sister after she was done applying sunblock to the kids, he did the same for himself. Afterward he threw the bottle onto the towel. He looked around the beach, looking for some other kids to play with. Some NPC kids he knew from class, but no one he really wanted to talk to. And even if there were, Erika ordered Maddy to set up the umbrella and get out the toys. He sighed once again and moved toward their stuff, "Okay, Sis."

On the other side of the beach, laying on a white beach chair was Icis Salvador, soaking up the suns ray into her bronzing skin. She was wearing a more daring swimsuit, a one piece that was cut low in the back and showed her stomach. Icis always liked the attention her looks got her after all. However, today the young woman was on a mission to relax. Seeing how she spent most of her week being friendly to costumers and chatting them up, Icis really looked forward to a little bit of downtime. It was a bit forced leisurely time though. None of her usually friends picked up their phones to come with her, and her aunt was busy with the shop like always. That left Icis alone on beach day to relax in the son. Something she was quite content with as long as people stayed outside of a ten foot radius of her. She liked the attention of the regular folks, but they had better think twice before approaching someone like Icis. Her eyes shifted behind her designer sunglasses as she looked towards the shore. A frown appeared on her face at the sight of no one familiar. "Tch" She clicked.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The blue ocean was definitely one of the greatest treats of the summer. It was large, wet, and cool compared to the air's temperature. The smell of salt in the air was relaxing and the sight of its blue waves were truly beautiful. To anyone who was watching the ocean right now, they would definitely be entranced, maybe even intrigued! Intrigued by the red wavy spot in the water were Talon Fieldson was floating in. Dawning a green bathing suit with tree patterns on it, Talon decided that there was no way he could pass up going on a trip to the beach. It was a festival! And at the beach! Just thinking about it brought a smile to the red-heads face. A smile no one could see as it was submerged in water. Talon was looking for any kind of interesting sight that he might tell his sister about when he got home. Luckily, he had learned how to open his eyes underwater. He could even hold his breath for a long time. He had been under the water for so long after all. 'How long have I been under?' he thought to himself, but shrugged it off. That is, until a large wave crashed on to his back, causing him to exhale all of his air. He struggled to surface only to find himself washed back up on the shore. Talon smiled and brushed the sand off from his body, ready to go for a round two.

While Catrina didn't take too kindly to a day celebrating the stupid human activity of plunging oneself into the water for no purpose outside of.. 'fun', she had been making her appearances at the festival quite regularly as of late. Ever since she ditched her detective career in favor of fishing, actually. It wasn't like she was willingly coming to this thing; she worked her job right at the pier and it sort of just set itself up around her. She didn't protest the crowd of beach goers, though, as it was the perfect opportunity to play her games without having to venture too far into town. Wearing the ratty old shorts and tank-top she normally did her work in, she ducked behind a sand structure as she observed her latest victim, ignoring the child she bumped/pushed in the process.

A ferocious feline stalked her quarry stealthily, lime green eyes fixated on the soft blue-grey as she determined what manner of beast she was taking down today. Dirty, so it must be a wild animal, but it didn't have the same grace and strength that her fellow feral feline in the woods had, so it couldn't be a cat. A bird, maybe? They liked to gather at the beach for scraps, the little pests, so it could very well be one of those – but it obviously wasn't a seagull. She tried to give a sniff to see if that could give her any more clues, but all she got with her pathetic human nozzle was the smell of salt and sunscreen. She would have to get closer if she wanted to try to use her smell, but the sandcastle she lurked behind provided excellent shelter from the prey's wandering eyes. If she left the comfort of her hideout, then she would have to go for gold, no question about it!

Catrina tensed and flicked the imaginary tail that she wished was more than cloth and wire stitched to the back of her clothes, but daydreaming was not an option right now. She had an attack to launch! The huntress dug her hands into the sandcastle and launched herself up and over it, wrecking it in the process and eliciting a cry of dismay from the nameless child sand architect. She didn't mind it as she tore through the sand and barreled right at her target (Razer Breeze) with her own cry, “Mrawr!

Oh, the weather! Mimi absolutely hated these bright, summer days! It was way too hot and she moved around so much as it was that it just made her overheat that much quicker. It was horrible! But, all was not lost – while public indecency was a bad thing and she couldn't normally wander around mostly naked even if it was sooooo hot – the beach was a place where the laws on mostly nakedness were skewed. She could prance around in a bikini with no worries of her mother getting on her back at all! ..Though.. that would be sorta nice. Her happy bounce was cut short briefly with a look of frustration, arms crossed and eyes cast aside to try to maybe spot a disgruntled mother, but, instead, she saw a merman.

A mysterious boy (Talon Fieldson) had washed ashore with fish legs-- Oh, wait, no, those were just legs. But everyone knew mermaids could change their tails to human legs easy! And, if not, then he could be something super cool anyway! It didn't take much encouraging for her to spring over to the boy's side before he rushed back to the water, grabbing him around the middle with a shout, “WAAAIIIIT!!!” She pulled back with probably an unnecessary amount of force and took a deep breath, “Oh, please, please, don't return to the sea already! You have to let me get an interview – who are you? Where are you from? Was it the war? Oh, oh, oh! Are you from..!” She stopped for a moment, looked around suspiciously, and dropped her voice to what Mimi considered a whisper. That is, a perfectly normal tone. “..Atlantis? Is that it? Atlantis? I knew it was real!

A sad little ball on the beach, Junior sat beside his long-time-maybe-friend with his shoulders hunched and knees pulled up, head turned down to will the orange mop of hair to offer some protection for his face from the sun. He didn't like the beach all that much. Then again, he didn't like going outside in general all that much. It made him nervous because someone could be watching and disheartened because no one probably was – but, wait, that wasn't right. He sent a look towards Yuri as he often did when out with the girl, assuring himself that she was certainly there and that he hadn't made her up. He grew up with Kade; he had reason to fear catching the crazies. But, as per usual, Yuri was indeed there and talking to him. He made a muffled noise in surprise and cleared his throat, forcing himself to sit up straight because he was an adult and not a little kid.

...Y-yeah..” He made a face at himself. Adult, right. He could hardly call himself a person with how pathetic he was. He swallowed as he tried to find a way to save the conversation before they went back into awkward silence again. He looked to the bag he brought and dove his hand into it, pulling out one of many bottles of sunscreen he had taken with him. “..Ah, if.. if you're hot, you sh-should.. The sun i-is..” He cleared his throat again and went on quieter, “..Sunscreen?” He tugged the strings on the light hoodie he wore, willing the hood to pull a little tighter around his face and maybe hide him better because this was the worst idea ever. He couldn't believe how stupid he was.

Three decades and Zhi still couldn't believe how perfect River was. In fact, the entire walk there had been nothing but Zhi inputting and asserting just how wonderful and absolutely amazing her wife was. It was hard not to tell everyone and anyone about the woman, even the woman herself, and Zhi wasn't the type to stop herself from doing anything. So, she gabbed about River's perfect form while running as the blonde took off to the short with their son in tow – who was also perfect because he looked so much like River and he was theirs. She let out yet another long sigh and went quiet for just long enough to watch them run off before turning to Elliot, “River's going to win the swimsuit contest, don't you think, Elliot?” Zhi had already signed the both of them up, happy to accept a prize and happier to have that rush of pride as she reminded the town that she was the luckiest and had the best spouse they could possibly conjure up.

She stood to the side as she watched Elliot set up their spot, arms folded over the oversized white ribbon on the top of her navy bikini. Zhi was never certain what really went into consideration when judging the swimsuit contest, to be honest, but, whatever it was, Elliot probably would have a lot of the points. She had shaped out a lot. ..It was best not to risk anything. “I wouldn't waste time with it, though. River has the contest won already.” She sat down once the towel was set up and pat the spot beside her, “..So. Have you been seeing anyone? You're getting really old, it would be smart to find someone fast before you really start to wrinkle.

Razer remained unaware of his pursuer(Catrina), his mind and eyes observing the golden sand and the sapphire lake. Something would happen, he hoped. He was compley calm, until he heard the cute cry.
With a quick turn, he smiled at the blur rushing towards him. He focused on where the creature would be and noticed, it was a girl. His smile shrinked slightly as he began preparing to do something...odd. His feet spread in the sand quickly as his arms spread open. All he could think to say was, "Come here little kitty!"

Usagi clinged to the sheer bathing suit cover up which she had on over a rather plain black bikini. While the woman usually preferred bright colors, she generally chose plainer things for clothing she felt self-conscious in. She looked over to her sister and sighed, if not for her she probably just could've stayed home with the cats and avoided all this beach nonsense. Mitsukai always insisted that Usagi come along to the festivals, and even worse this time, Mitsukai insisted that she wear her old bikini rather than covering herself up. Couldn't Mitsukai understand that no one wanted to see this forty-year old woman in a bathing suit! Even so, after much pestering Usagi finally gave in. It wasn't like there was really much choice anyway.

She turned from her sister to the beach bag and reached in to grab the bottle of sunscreen. She didn't want to go home with a nasty burn after being at the beach all day. Maybe she should stop and buy some aloe on the way home just in case. Mitsukai burned rather easily so it couldn't be a bad idea. Thinking of her sister she turned back to her, "I might go home early," she decided.

"No you won't!" Mitsukai informed Usagi as she slipped of her cover-up to reveal her new, fun bikini! If only she could get her sister to join in on all this beach fun! But no, Usagi just wouldn't have that, she'd rather sit at home with the cats and watch musicals or whatever. Try as she might to convince her sister that she wasn't too old to go out and have fun, and to wear bikinis she just wouldn't listen! Well she would, but it took a good deal of effort to get her to. She was just trying to help her sister out!

Suddenly distacted, she remembered something, "Oh hey can you pass the sun screen over here?" she asked. After waiting for what seemed like forever for Usagi to finish with it she was finally passed the bottle, and then began to apply the sun screen to her skin. She tossed it aside as she finished and surveyed the beach area. "I'm gonna go walk around, you can set up, okay Usagi?" she prompted before heading off, leaving Usagi to lay out towels and set up the umbrella alone.

As she walked around the beach she made sure to note who she passed. After all, what fun was going out if she didn't have any friends to greet and socialize with. Most faces were indeed familiar ones, even if she didn't talk the person often she had usually seen them out and about town. It wasn't surprising seeing as how she had lived in Nirvani for almost her entire life. So many familiar faces out there to see! She couldn't seem to find anyone she knew by name-Oh wait! Was that Junior!? She didn't talk to him often but she did recognize him. Who else on the island would have that kind of look on their face on such a nice beach day! Okay, so the orange hair peaking out of the hoodie was also a pretty big giveaway but still. She raised her hand to wave to her old friend but quickly retracted it as she noticed the woman next to him. Mitsukai wasn't familiar with the woman's name but she had seen her around before. Whoever she was, she sure was pretty, and if Junior was on a date she certainly didn't want to ruin it!

An unexpected adventure definitely awaited Talon in that ocean. With a powerful gaze of determination, the boy lifted his leg to take his first step back into the water. He stretched said leg forward, making the motions to walk in what seemed to be slow motion. Until he was grabbed from behind, that is. Talon halted all movements as an energetic voice rambled through the inner workings of his mind. So many commands, so many questions, and even a secret all in a 30 second span. It took a second for the red headed adventurer to process it all, but his mind did pick out the 'Atlantis' part fairly fast. Talon turned his head to see this unexpected stranger and was surprised to see that it was a girl who seemed to be around his age. He gently broke free from the girls gripped and turned to look at her face to face. And by this point, his mind had caught up with her words. Was he looking for Atlantis? That would definitely make his sister excited if he were to find it, but could it be done!?! What did this girl know? She said she knew it was real!

"Talon Fieldson" He replied to the girl with an excited short exhale of breath. This girl might know something he didn't, something exciting! He had to play her game, he thought, in order to have her tell him the information. "I'm from a place much different than here!" Talon spoke with a grin on his face as he raised his arms in mock glory. It wasn't actually a fib! The boy's home was definitely much different than a beach after all. But, it certainly was no Atlantis. 'Though that would be cool' he thought. It he could find this mythical place, then... Talon slid his right foot in back of him and pointed towards the girl, striking a powerful pose with a stern face. If he could just convince her he was a real Atlantian maybe he could go on a true ocean adventure! "Now, who are you?" Talon began and then shifted his pose so that he was kneeling to the side and pointing towards the ocean, "and how do you know of our war!?!" His voice drew the attention of a couple of NPC beach goers. It would be weird not to look. However, even he was trying his best not to snicker at his own actions.

However impossible it seemed, Catrina had frozen midair and dropped straight down just before smacking right into the boy she had been stalking. He was smiling and trying to.. hug her? Accept his death like some kind of martyr for an unknown cause? No struggle or fight or anything? She felt a cold prickle go up her neck as she realized that this boy had to be absolutely insane. It was quite a feat to convince someone like Catrina of that! But, rather than turn and dart away like a normal person, she stood still and stared down at him with narrowed eyes. Her hands were up in preparation to strike should this be a mere feint, but it didn't seem like he was trying to fool her. He just seemed dim. Unworldly. Like a newborn.. kitten?

Her brows shot up as her mind came to that conclusion, dropping her paws and leaning in to give him a good sniff. She picked up nothing but salt and dirt, but she swore that some part, probably a delusional part, smelled the scent of a cat! “Mau~!” She purred, an art she perfected over the years, and sunk to the ground, choosing to curl up around his feet. “Another kit, mrauw~ But, dirty, dirty – that's disgraceful, kitten.” She paused and jumped back to her feet, “Miyav! Come, kitten.” She flicked her hand as, unfortunately, her tail wasn't capable of signaling him to follow, being cloth and all. She figured he would get the message anyway and darted off towards and into the tiny store nestled on the shore, opened only during the summer and admittedly overpriced due to convenience. Still, she could find what she wanted in there~

~~~
Mimi detached pretty easily once she saw that he wasn't facing the ocean anymore, because that meant his full attention was on her and not leaving forever. She smiled broadly at him and put her hands to her hips, excitement brimming within her as she realized she was right. He wasn't giving her that blank look so many did! He actually reacted like a proper stranded hero would and even her war theory was right! She had the urge to pull out her cell phone and call everyone who had doubted her ever over just so she could point out how she had been right for once and they should totally listen to her forever for now on. But, why should she do that when she could just text wickedly fast while speaking to him? So, the girl had a cell phone in hand, tapping away at the keys as she texted everyone on her list about her super discovery. She didn't bother waiting to finish her message before responding, though; Mimi had learned how to multitask conversations pretty well over her short life!
She darted her head back and forth from the screen of the cell phone to looking up at the boy. “I'm Mimi Murrow, seeker of hidden truths, like the one you're hiding!” She shoved the phone back in her pocket and used her newly freed hands to point accusingly at him, “Don't ask how I know, the Murrows always know! We're the shadows in the night, always watching and listening! I've heard the whispers of the secret gang wars going on deep under the ground, but for the ocean to be infested with your kind..!” She tried to look disgusted as her mother often did, but she simply couldn't shake away the glee from her feature. This was just so fun! “How many are you? Are you aware the horrors that your actions may inflict onto the innocent citizens of Sonata? Are we innocent citizens? Are we actually the villains and we just don't realize yet? Have we been infected already?! How many are vampires and who are the zombies? The public needs to know, Mr. Fieldson!” She stopped to breath and sorely wished she had a notebook or something so she could write notes.
~~~

He didn't think he could make it, but Kade had managed to finish up his work at the Salon in time to close up shop in time and throw on his usual pale pink speedo. He always got the most business right around or before a festival; people always wanted to straighten themselves up at the public event, especially the Sonatas! In any case, the man was simply happy to know he had time to go out and actually socialize. He didn't usually have time to be with anyone outside of his rabbits and family, so it was great to see how all of his old neighbors and friends were doing! He hummed pleasantly to himself as he spotted one of those people setting up all by their lonesome.

He made a face as he observed that, instantly feeling a sense of kinship with the woman (Usagi Yoshiko) – after all, the lonely flower shop owner was all by herself too! And they both basically worked in distributing beauty out to the town, so it was enough common ground for Kade to hop straight over and start helping her roll out the towels and straighten the umbrella out. “Usagi!” He chimed instantly in greeting, smiling at her before he continued on, “It's been, like, forever since we last spoke! How's the business? You look soooo cute, but what are you wearing under that? Can I see, hon? I'm sure it's adorable.” Once he had a towel set smoothly down, he plopped on top it and beamed at her in expectation and anticipation.

When River reached the water, she went splashing awkwardly through the waves, laughing gleefully the whole time. She was like a golden retriever, bounding through the water without a care towards how stupid she looked doing it. Jeremy was fast, but River still had the advantage of longer legs (which really wasn't saying much) so she had enough time to spin around and ready herself before her son caught up and splashed in after her. "Jeremy!" she cried again before barreling into him, knocking him down into the water and stealing the inflatable beach ball, which now bobbed on top of the waves. "I win!" she shouted triumphantly, before trotting back up the beach towards her wife and sister.

Jeremy stood up, stumbling slightly from the force of the waves and the instability of the sand beneath his feet, and spit out some sea water which had gotten in his mouth. By now he was used to his mother's strange idea of parenting and wasn't really fazed, so he carried on as if nothing unusual happened. As he swayed slightly where he stood (the current shifting him back and forth) he scanned the beach and water for familiar faces. He was in high school now, and high school boys, no matter how short and high-voiced, were too old to hang around with their mothers during days like these. He didn't have many friends, but that was alright, because soon he spotted a familiar redhead (Mimi) along with an unfamiliar redhead! Breaking into a grin, he began to lope, rather awkwardly, through the water towards his friend, all while waving his arms above his head. "Mimiiii...! Mimi Mimi!" When he reached the two teens, he came to a screeching halt and beamed at them both. "Hi Mimi! Hi.... you!" He wasn't so great at talking to people he didn't know.

Meanwhile, Elliot was busy spreading out their towels, setting down water bottles at the corners as weights, and making sure their homemade sandwiches (that she had asked Alex to make) didn't get smashed, while she listened to her best friend and sister-in-law talk. "If you think so," she replied vaguely. She liked River a lot, but there were lots of cute girls in cute swimsuits, and River had been wearing hers for over twenty years now... Logically, it could go either way. Once she was done, she sat down next to Zhi and adjusted her hat once more. But then Zhi started asking about whether she was seeing anyone, and the redhead turned to stare at her blankly. She was surprised to hear her friend ask that. "Like Finnian? I see him every day..." She wasn't that naive, but it took her a second to understand what Zhi was asking, and now she really WAS surprised. Dating had never been a priority, so why ask now? "Oh... No, is it important?" she cocked her head thoughtfully. What did wrinkles have to do with marriage?

By now River had trotted up the beach to her wife and sister, and after a few seconds of half-laughing, half-trying-to-catch-her-breath, she beamed down at Zhi. "Zhi Zhi Zhi Zhi,"
(baby baby baby) "Did you see? Did you see?" She was pink-faced and her eyes were sparkling, like a dog that had just fetched a stick and was waiting for praise.

Yuri looked at Junior for a moment as he offered her sunscreen, and realized what a terrible idea this was. He looked so miserable, with his hood pulled tighter that it was probably ever intended to be. "I already put some on, thanks," she said, trying to sound reassuringly pleasant, but it really just came out a little bit dull. This wasn't how it was supposed to be at all. She was supposed to come out her with her friend, her closest friend, and they were supposed to have fun and play in the water or play a hilariously bad game at volleyball because neither of them were very good at sports, and then they'd watch fireworks and she'd go home feeling like she could tackle tomorrow, but really, she just wanted to go home and crawl into bed even more. It was so frustrating she cry.

Letting her towel slip a little bit from her shoulder, Yuri began to look around in search of some sort of distraction. Something to get her out of her towel and her funk and Junior out of his hood. But mostly it was just kids and families and teens hanging out, not much... And then she spotted Erika with two toddlers and her breath outright stopped. It was like a jolt of electricity that made her flinch, and her hand shot out to grab Junior's wrist. "Junior.... Junior," she hissed, squeezing him. "The babies... It's the babies! Look! They're dressed as sailors! Oh, they're so cute, they've gotten so big..." She shook off her towel, as if she were about to go over there, but then she realized what a mistake that would be. "Should we go over there? They're here, we should go over right? ...But isn't it a little bit predator-y? Like going over when they're with their babysitter? It'd be inappropriate right? What if she tells June? Oh god, what if June is here? Junior what should we do? What should we do Junior? Junior?" She let go of his wrist and now grabbed his shoulder as she stared at him with wide, panicked eyes. This was the biggest mistake in the world.

Usagi looked up as she heard a voice address her. Oh! Talk, Usagi! Talk! Don't be awkward, don't be awkward. "Oh hey!" she forced herself to exclaim. She thought she'd be over this bout of whatever it was by now, that maybe it was just part of her younger years, but instead it stayed, and all the woman could do was fight it the best she could. Lucky for her, as she looked up, she realized it was just Kade, the salon owner. She knew him decently enough and he was nice, so there really wasn't too much to be apprehensive about. "How are you?" she asked as she felt the relief go through her. "Business is well, it's business," she managed to reply with a small chuckle, though it was cut off as she heard the man's next statement. "Underneath?" she questioned him.

She bit her lip before deciding that it was indeed time to take off her coverup. "Ta-da!" she said as she revealed the black bikini. Running a business she seldom got to say fun things like that! Who was she kidding, running a business she got to play whatever music she wanted to in the store and no one could stop her. And on especially quiet days she'd sing and dance and do whatever she wanted. She said and did all kinds of fun things! Still, she liked having excuses to do and say silly things. "It's just an old bathing suit, nothing fancy," she told the man. Suddenly the woman wished she had worn something more fun, at least something more her. Why didn't she listen to her sister and go bathing suit shopping? Oh well, there was nothing to do about it now.

"Such a pretty day!" Elizabeth sang out loud, certainly not as pretty as her though! While Elizabeth didn't much enjoy the outdoors the beach was an entirely different question, besides, she had a swimsuit contest to win! How lucky was it that she was just barely old enough to participate? It must be fate! Even ignoring that fact entirely Elizabeth was clearly the most qualified to win right? Wrong. Right! Not only was her bathing suit super cute, she was too! This contest was definitely her's! In her mind anyway...

She smiled cheerfully as she laid out her beach towel, then quickly plopped down on it. This would be a great way to observe her fellow townspeople! Also, maybe she could spot some cute boys! She reached over to reapply her sunscreen, having already coated herself in it once before leaving the house. There's no way she would ruin her beautiful, perfect skin! To ensure this she always bought the highest spf available, take that sun! She would wear a nice beach hat too, but there's no way she'd let that distract from her pretty face! At least not on the day of a contest. She had to be sure everyone knew just how cute she was!

Razer raised his eyebrow when the little girl (Catrina). He watched as she brought herself back up and...sniffed him? What was she doing, He thought. He had planned to use her leaping momentum to throw her over him and into the sand, a maneuver he learned a while back.
His eyebrow lowered a bit, only to raise again when he notices she called him a kitten. "A...A kitten?" He asked highly confused. This was really unusual for him. But, she wished for him to follow, might as well follow...right? Ignoring that little voice in his head that told him to not go into random houses with cute cat girls he nodded to himself and followed her.

With a disgruntled sigh, Icis Salvador had decided that sitting alone was absolutely unbearable. He friends should have at least showed up! It's not like she invited them to go with her, but hey, they should of been willing to see if she was there! She was that special after all. Icis would remember this. But for now, the young woman needed to find something to do. Someone to play with. Someone to flirt with? No. Someone to toy with. A little toy to relieve stress would be right down her alley right now. She removed her sunglasses and began to search the beach for some kind of prey. She met eyes with a couple of NPC's in the process only to scare them away with a vicious growl. Icis soon found what she was looking for though. Her eyes locked on to a lanky blonde. She almost thought it was just some skinny dude until she noticed the her familiar face. A devilish grin appeared on Icis's face as she walked in front of January Sonata's sight. "Hey there Blondie," Icis spoke with the cutest little smile as she remembered the little Sonata girl from classes long long ago. She could make a fun toy.

As Talon's new source, Mimi, began speaking and accusing him ever so happily, it made the boy's urge to play along grow even larger. When she pointed her hand at him the red head stepped back wards with his arms raised in front of him and let his jaw drop in mock surprise. "How do you know such a thing?" He spoke with a voice like a b-list horror movie actor. He regained a normal stance and crossed his arms, tilting his head away from Mimi. "Our actions are none of your concern!" Talon said trying to hold back a small laugh, "However..." He pointed back at Mimi, tapping her pointer finger with his. He was ready go give his ultimate line! A punch line at that! It would be a great joke. This whole act would lead up to an amazing joke told in the most spectacular way. Talon was excited. So excited that the idea of treasure and adventure left his head for a bit. As he pursed his lips to begin to speak a new stranger entered the fray. The boy, surprised by a new challenger, turned to face them both. "Are you on her si-" Talon began to speak only to lose his footing while switching stance. In a quick second the red headed teen plummeted into the shallow water.

With a few hacks and coughs, the boy lifted himself from the floor. He could feel the sand cover at least half his body. Instead of getting back on his feet, Talon decided it was easier to just plop down in front of the two and look up at them. He could feel the urge to keep acting wash away with the water. Ah, that was pretty good... Talon made sure to remember that for a later date. He looked up at the other two red heads, now noticing that there were three in a row, "Like a jackpot." A genetic rarity jackpot. But, this too was just a passing thought. He remembered quickly the events that just unfolded and decided that it was best to figure out just what was going on in the first place. He turned his head to Mimi from his position and chuckled a bit. "Did you need anything from me?" He questioned with a confused smile. It was pretty weird to just wrap your arms around a stranger in the first place. Though, playing along with said person was probably not much better. But hey, you would just be splitting hairs at that point.

The signal was caught, good! Catrina already had more hope for him than she ever did with Mei! Thinking of the woman, she had to wonder if Mei would treat her new littermate well? Or the rest of the family, really! Ah, Catrina was the top cat, anyway, so it wasn't like they could complain! She waited by the door patiently for the boy to come in and, once he had, she brushed herself against his side to inform him she was still there before making her way to the racks of swimwear. Now, Catrina knew full-well cats weren't supposed to wear clothing, but they did have fur and, stuck in that pesky, weak human form, clothing would simply have to do for now. They would fix it once they figured out how to get into their real forms! She looked over to him and watched him for a moment, trying to figure out just what gesture would communicate best, but it seemed she would have to rely on speech for this one.

She frowned grumpily and called, “Here, kitten – you change out of that imperrrfect fur to something fresher.” She rolled the 'r's with a returning smile, happy she could at least add some feline inflection to make up for having to use stupid human talk. She would pay for anything he picked out! Catrina may not be the richest on Nirvani, but she wasn't too bad either! Her fishing skills certainly helped give her some spending money~! To illustrate that, she took out a wad of cash from her pocket and wagged it at the boy with a proud, wide grin. Money didn't mean much to cats, but it did to humans and she would be silly to put no worth on it as she was.

This. Was. The. Best. Mimi didn't think she could have hoped – no, dreamed – of a better hit! She smiled impossibly wider, taking on the trademarked Murrow creeper-grin with an inherited ease as she waited for him to finish. She wasn't stupid – Mimi was well-versed in all things dramatic and knew very well when a pivotal line was about to be delivered! The thing to change everything, the words to distill secret into knowledge, the statement that would pave her award-winning discovery of the year and allow her to best her father in all his great achievements! Her mother, even, would feel jealousy at the triumph as Mimi would not only bring truth to the public, but she would also stop the horrors that the truth would foretell and save everyone. She was going to be loved!

She was shaking as she reached the end of that train of thought, but that excitement that filled her quickly dissolved into shock as Jeremy bounded over. She jerked her head towards him with a yelp because he may and – no, he did, ruin it all! She dropped her arm and drooped forward with a loud groan, leaning her forehead on Jeremy's shoulder to stop herself from dropping because the amount of disappointment she had started to accumulate it's very own gravity source. And it was Jeremy's fault. “Jereeeemmmyyyy.” She whined and fully intended on telling the fellow teen how he ruined it all, but her attention on the situation ran out. So, she perked back up, retook her grin, and looked down at Talon. “Only the Truth! Oh, and volleyball! Anyone up for volleyball? Jeremy, you're on my team!” She smacked a hand on his shoulder and turned to scout out other members – ah! “Heeeeey!” She yelled at the top of her lungs to a girl wandering the beach (Mitsukai), “Volleyball! Come here!

Yep, Kade could agree with that. Business was definitely business! And the beach was no place for business talk! He felt silly for trying to bring that up when they were supposed to have fun! He almost apologized but then the grand unveiling occurred and he had to clap, ooh, and ahhh at her. It was.. Not Usagi at all! Oh, he didn't know the girl well enough to really get a feel for her personality – it was just another nice member of town who reminded him vaguely of his old best friends forever and automatically received secret affection as a result. Which could mean just about anyone since Kade had a whole lot of B.F.F.'s! But, whatever! The focus was on the swimsuit here, which didn't do it's wonderful job of showcasing personality!

Oh, not good at all, darling!” He blurted out before he could think better of it, “It looks great on you, but, don't take this the wrong way, honey, you just seem so awkward in it!” Oh, ouch, he hoped that didn't hurt her feelings. He smiled apologetically at her, “I mean, we should go shopping sometime. Not now, it's a little late for that, but, maybe, later! We can get you a cute, fitting swimsuit for summer and maybe throw on some outfits too. It's so important to wear something that's really you and it builds so much confidence too! Plus,” He chuckled, “I wouldn't mind getting out a little myself.

He put the sunscreen back into the bag hurriedly, trying his best not to frown because he didn't want to bother her with how put off he felt through that complete failure of an interaction. Junior should probably just go home and let Yuri go have fun with her friends, not that he knew she had any friends outside of him, but he was sure she did. Not that he was her friend in the first place. ..Ah, he should.. probably cut those thoughts out for right now. He had to try to fix this situation before anything worse happens; Yuri was his closest chance to having normal human interaction, after all. He cleared his throat quietly and was in the middle of turning when she suddenly grabbed him, forcing a tiny yelp out of him in surprise.

A-a-ah..” He started an attempt to interrupt her because she was getting so stressed and he hated to see her stressed. He knew well enough that her continuing just ended up stressing her more and he really didn't want to have to watch her get to 'that' point. He made a face, though; he couldn't bring himself to stop her. Thankfully, she stopped and he had room to try to console her. “U-uh.” The twins were certainly over there. He didn't see June anywhere, but he did see his father and... well, if June did mysteriously crop up, then maybe his dad could help him keep things okay? He swallowed and looked back at Yuri, “W-well, I.. I don't see him, Yuri, s-so I think.. you should go over t-to them.. Th-they're your kids, so..” ..It wouldn't be right to just ignore them. He stood up slowly and tried his best to look as supportive and strong as he could, but he simply wasn't that great at those looks.

Did Elliot really not get how she was running out of time? Zhi arched a brow at her in exasperation, but she couldn't meddle too much in her friends' love life. Even if having a fellow married couple would be so fun for married couple nights – like the ones she saw on sitcoms sometimes! She had spent years waiting on River to notice her blatant moves and flirtations – if Elliot started right now on her true love, then she would probably be, like, fifty before she even got to get a first date! She shrugged hopelessly at the girl, but she had to say she was still her friend even if she was so dead in the romantic portion of her life. In any case, Elliot didn't matter because River had just approached~! She beamed at the woman and started to nod, but then she realized she hadn't. She had turned her head to look at Elliot just when River had done a probably super cool and exciting move that would win Zhi's heart all over again! “I didn't! Oh, River, I'm so sorry, forgive me! Elliot distracted me!” She pleaded instantly, hands cradling her dismayed face. Ahh, she was such a dreadful wife!

Razer Raised his eyebrow at the women rubbing his leg like a cat. Was she hitting on him? He didn't know, but continued to watch as she walked over to the swim suits. He listened to her words, and smiled lightly when she offered him the free suit. He put a hand up and said with a grin "No Thank you, Miss. I couldn't let a woman buy me clothes, especially when I brought my own." Suddenly, right in the middle of the store, he started removing his clothes, not a care in the world who was watching.

When his shirt was removed, it showed marks of a hunter. Scars on his shoulders, a recent wound on his chest, and a hawk like burn mark on his back. He removed his shoes, and his toes seemed even worse in shape. Cut, scarred, and a piece was even missing. But he removed his pants to reveal...sky blue swimming trunks with clouds around it. His legs appeared to have fire-like scars running up his legs, possibly from him being in some kind of fire.

He smiled at her as he Asked "Alright, now what?"
