Mehera'nafsi had wandered for a long time from her new home of the abandoned Tuait lands in search of the family she had lost or at least to find some sign that they were out there somewhere. Her life with her adoptive mother had been happy and it had been a hard decision to leave but she needed to begin her life and she always felt the pull towards the mountains. Thus this young lioness was determined to find her home among them. It made sense, really. She had been born in the snowy peaks of some mountain somewhere, so it seemed perfectly normal that she should return to them one day. However, after living in the desert for several years she found that the temperature here was much colder. "I'm glad I have a thicker pelt." Mehera said to herself with a smile. In the desert it had been awful to have long fur but here it seemed to be best place for it. When another breeze blew through Mehera took the opportunity to inhale as deeply as she could, taking in the fresh smells.
A sort of sadness filled her as she exhaled. While she had gained a loving and wonderful mother, she had still lost her own in a catastrophe. It had been a long time ago when she was a cub, so the details of what happened where a bit sketchy to her but the feelings she had, had during that time still felt fresh. Heck she could even remember the way she felt when walking through the desert for weeks before Zhen had found her and brought her home. Mehera shook her head to clear her thoughts. Now was not the time to think of the terrible-yet-sometimes-wonderful-things that had brought her here. What she needed to focus on was finding a nice cave or some hole in the walls of rocky landscape to bed for the night. Mehera couldn't tell how she knew, but she felt like the weather was going south, almost literally and she didn't really want to be caught up in it. "Note to self, remember to look for a den while traveling. Also, don't forget to get in it before it gets dark." Well this could go a couple of ways now. Hopefully it didn't mean her bones being found here by someone years from now.

Dryco had ventured out to get a bit of a hunt in, not that he made a habit of hunting right before a storm came in, but he really wanted to hunt today. The whole pride could feel the impending storm, and he was the only nut that was still out and about, all because the hoofed creature he had hunted kept leading him further out. When he finally had caught the Bongo antelope, the male had very little time to celebrate his victorious hunt before he realized JUST how far away from his den and pride he was. There was no way he was making it home before the storm, he just could feel it in the air. Dryco started looking for a place to den down temporarily, and drag his kill into. He figured he could both eat the meat and use the corpse as an entrance block to keep the cold out of wherever he holed up for the storm. He found a den that would do, though it was much too big for one lion really, but he would just have to try to stay warm as best he could while out of the weather. The male stuffed his kill part way in the entrance and heard talking not far away. He blinked and called out. "'Lo out thar? Best be getting inside, storm comin'."

Mehera couldn't stop herself from jumping just a little bit when she heard a voice call out to her. What was even worse was that she couldn't see who it was that had called out to her. Maybe it was the wind? Her pink eyes searched the surrounding area and she finally noticed a gave just a few steps away. Was someone in there calling to her? Deciding it would be best not to miss the chance to get into the den before the storm hit, Mehera made her way closer to the entrance and smiled when she saw the black lion with a fresh kill standing there. "Hello. . ." Mehera said, pausing as she looked the male over. He didn't seem like he was going to physically or mentally harm her, but she could be wrong. However, with the impending storm the lioness decided it was better to take the chance anyways. "Is this your den?" She asked, peering inside. It was rather large for him and his kill. Certainly he'd be willing to make some room for one more? Right?
She took a deep breath and braced herself. "I'm not from here and I have no idea where I am, nor do I have any idea where the next den is. Can I rest here with you until the storm passes?" Mehera sputtered out, hoping and mentally pleading with him not to reject her. Mehera'nafsi was not the type of young lady to do certain adult activities with a complete stranger, but if it meant her not freezing to death in the middle of a storm, well she'd have to just take one for the team. "I'll do something in return for you. A favor?" She added, not specifying what type of favor she'd do. Hopefully this male wasn't the type to ask her for something like sharing the den in ways she would rather not do.

Dryco scooted himself into the cave and over to the side so that the lioness could get into the den as well. "Not m' den. Nobody dens this fer inta the huntin' grounds." The pride stayed in the mountain unless they needed to hunt, and really, Dryco was a warrior, he technically should not have been out hunting. But he had wanted to help some since there was not a lot of fighting to be had right now. Now he was regretting his hunting trip. He might have been a good hunter, but he should stick with fighting from the look of this situation. Guarding the pride was important too. "Best ta stay 'ere wit me fer now, lass. Tha storm could be ah bit an' I couldna tell ye where tha next cave is. 'Ave some food, an' donna worry about favors. When tha storm passes, ye should return to m' pride wit me an' rest proper befur headin' out agin." Dryco was not going to let some rogue female get herself killed up here in the mountains by letting her roam about without proper rest. Heck he would escort her out of the pride's lands if he had to to make sure she was safe.

To say Mehera was slightly baffled by the lions kindness was a little understated. While she had never experienced an encounter with a mean male she'd heard many stories of them in the rogue lands. At the mention of his pride Mehera's ears perked up. Maybe her pride still existed and he was apart of it! Or maybe they had seen them! Mehera'nafsi couldn't be sure that this mountain had been the one her family had lived on though. She didn't really remember the landscape from her cubhood.
"Thank you." Mehera replied before she pushed herself into the den where he had made room for her. "There's a pride here?" She asked, her whole body showed her excitement. "Was this pride apart of a calamity a few years ago?" Mehera continued to press. It was a lot to ask at once and of a complete stranger no less, but she couldn't help it. She had grown too excited.
At the lions next statement her ears pinned back. Her demeanor changed to that of caution, but she made no indication that she was going to fight him. Just weary. "I guess I can rest in your pride for a while. What's you're name?" Mehera finally asked.

Dryco pulled the kill back so that it covered most of the opening to the den, to help protect them from anything that might be coming in once the storm started. He did not want to be blinded by flying snow or anything horrible. The male was oblivious to the female's sudden change of demeanor. He had already decided she was not openly aggressive, so there was not much more reason in his mind to keep watching her body language. "Aye, there's ah pride 'ere, lass. We 'ad a fire if ya count tha' as calamity. 'Ad some deaths, an' are still cleanin' up from it. Ye lookin' fir somethin' up 'ere, lass?" If this lioness was looking for a pride, Dryco thought perhaps he should help her. His pride was not really big on contact with outside prides, but they also were not complete shut ins. Maybe he could be of some help to her. "M' pride is the Dvergr an' m' name is Dryco." He hears the wind pick up and a few snow flakes flying past the entrance of the den they had holed up in. The few flakes quickly pick up and he hopes the female has a heavy pelt like himself. He takes the hyena pelt he usually wore off his back and looks at the female. "Do ye need?" He offers the cloak.

Mehera's hopes were dashed as soon as the male began to tell her about the problems they had as of late. It wasn't the mountain home of her past. It felt like a blow her heart but Mehera wasn't completely devastated. It meant there was still a chance her family could still be out there somewhere, safe, alive. "No. There isn't anything here I was looking for it seems." Mehera responded with a warm smile.
"The Dvergr?" She responded with a question. Mehera had never heard of this pride before. Then again this mountain area was completely new to her and she imagined not too many ventured up it for fun. "What's the Dvergr Dryco?" Mehera paused as she watched the male take the pelt he had on his back off and offer it to her. It was then that she realized that it was getting colder. Her time spent in the desert had weakened her a bit to the cold despite her pelt being rather long for a desert dweller. Her pink eyes flicked to the opening of the cave then to the back of the cave. "Won't you be cold? We could always share it." Mehera offered, completely forgetting the fact that she should remain at least slightly cautious of the male. It was too cold to care about that now. Besides, hadn't she resolved herself to do whatever necessary for shelter? "Lived in the desert too long it seems." Mehera'nafsi laughed a little as she walked to the back of the cave and laid down up against the wall.
"I'm Mehera'nafsi."

Dryco settled himself a bit more as the wind picked up and snow started to really come down outside. He was grateful for the body of that kill helping to block some of that wind for himself and the lioness beside him. "The Dvergr is m'pride. We're ah little stouta an' shorta din most lions." He positioned himself a bit closer to the female at the offer to share the cloak. "Ah 'ave thicker fur, but ah can try to keep ya warma, lass." Truthfully her suggestion of sharing the cloak was a good one. He might have thicker fur, but even he was going to get cold. If they shared the cloak he could both use his ticker fur to keep her warm and use the cloak and her to keep himself warm. Dryco was still mentally kicking himself for being out this far when a storm came up. He knew better than to hunt so far from the entrances to the mountain. "Ya neva know, lass. Ya might na 'ave been lookin' fur what ya think. Need ta let fate guide yer paws and work 'ard." He nodded to himself. The dark male was a firm believer in hard work and fate. To him the two of them went paw in paw and one could not truly get to one's fate without hard work, but one could also not completely escape fate by slacking off. ~Kiana_Nala~ I apologize for how long this took to get to. RL is trying to eat my muses.

Mehera'nafsi listened while Dryco explained his pride a bit and from the looks of him she could imagine a whole pride full of others with similar features. "Thank you." Mehera replied. She could feel the cold beginning to seep into the cave and she knew that it was only going to get worse from here. It had definitely been a good idea to ask him to lay over here. He'd keep them both warm with that thick pelt of his. Mehera blushed a little as she snuggled up as close as she could against him. If she wanted to live through the storm she'd have to be warm and she guessed that even he needed some extra warmth as well, so snuggling would be perfectly normal and natural.
At Dryco's response she couldn't help but wonder if what he said was true. When her home had been destroyed and she'd lost her family she had somehow miraculously made it to the desert. There she was adopted and very well loved and taken care of. Now that she'd tried to return to find what she'd lost as a cub she'd found him instead. Mehera nodded. Maybe she wasn't supposed to find her family, at least not yet. Mehera thought about it for a moment more before smiling towards the male. "Can I become a Dvergr?"

"O'course, ya kin, lass. If ya wanta be ah Dvergr, ya kin return wit m' afta' th' storm passes." Dryco got a bit excited at the female's question and his accent just got thicker. A dwarf was a dwarf afterall, and they had their own language in some respects. He tried not to be too hard to understand to outsiders now that there were so many new bloods coming into the pride. Unfortunately, there was only so much he could do and then he would get excited and every bit of effort would disappear like dust on the wind. Dryco gave the lioness a smile, though it was not as cheerful as one might expect. He really was happy, but his eyes still showed worry. He was spending too much time worrying over his sister lately. Even now, stuck in a den with a pretty lioness and snuggled up to her for warmth, the male was worrying over whether he would be able to get this kill home to his sister to lighten her workload around their den. "If ya need, m' sister and Ah kin offer our den 'til ya settle in." ~Kiana_Nala~ I think we can wrap this up whenever you like

At Dryco's response Mehera couldn't help but smile. So she would be accepted there. Mehera wasn't sure exactly what she was doing, especially since her original plan had been to find her parents and understand the past she came from but somehow that had gotten mixed up when she met this male. Maybe she'd find some clues once she got there as well. Either way she couldn't help but feel a growing feeling of excitement in her stomach.
Then next time Dryco spoke she couldn't help but look at him with slightly widened eyes. Mehera had met a lot of kind creatures since she left the desert but this male seemed to top all of them. He offered her his pelt, warmth and for her to live in his den with him and his sister. "You'd let me live in your den? Why would you when you don't even know me?" She asked him in a friendly but slightly confused tone. Obviously she'd never encountered this amount of kindness before and she honestly had no idea what to do with it. "I'll help you with anything you need." Mehera added, implying that she was agreeing to the offer. Kathryn Dragonna Up to you? We can always do another RP between the two to really begin to develop their relationship?

Dryco simply snuggles the female close to himself and puts a paw over her shoulders at first. The temperature was dropping fast, and he did not want this female to freeze. It would not be a very long storm, of that he was quite certain just with how fast the snow was falling outside now. "Me sister wouldna hear ena different, lass. Ya need ah place ta sleep while ya settle in." Besides, he was a warrior. He had no doubt that if this female did pose a risk, he could handle it. From what he had seen so far, though, the male would say this female wouldn't harm anyone any more than his own sister would. Dryco knew that she would find a warm welcome in his pride and as long as she proved herself worthy of keeping it, there would be a place for her among them. And there would be plenty of males after her soon enough if she showed interest in it. The male hoped she found settled in and stayed around. Perhaps she could get his sister to actually look for a husband instead of waiting for one to come to her. He certainly knew one thing. This female would change things for the better back home. That he was quite certain of. ~Kiana_Nala~ I am calling this one finished, and we can start another to keep going on their relationship, whenever you like
